Mixed Up Saturday

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

From a VERY wet Wiltshire,  I feel so bad for the thousands of people that have travelled to the area for the Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford,  yesterday they only managed 2 aircraft flying displays out of a whole days programme,  there must have been a lot of disappointment,  but safety first, not that anyone would have seen anything as the cloud was so dense and low.  Today has less rain forecast but we have a high wind warning for most of the day, Hopefully there are some indoor activities for people to look at.

I had a fairly wiped out day yesterday after a another rough night, this new antibiotic is putting my body through its paces but hopefully that means its working!  I spent the day watching craft videos,  I did try to do some packing but after wrapping pottery jugs and throwing a whole cupboard of old plastic ice ream tubs and takeaway boxes in the recycling I was exhausted!!  So hopefully my brain will be full of Creative ideas by Sunday.

I am so buzzing with pleasure about the half price bargain corner Begonia & Dhalia that we rescued that I take a photo every time I go passed them,  I literally cannot pass without stopping and admiring the sheer number of flowers on both of them, so I just had to share them with you.

The last photo is our lovely barrel full of sweet peas and summer bedding with lots of spring bulbs planted underneath!  That's going to be a heavy one to move !

Sue very kindly did us a Magazine Review,  which saved me a job yesterday......

Simply Cards & Papercraft

Issue 246

This month the free gifts are a set of 17 stamps and 4 dies entitled Sent with love.

There is also the matching free downloads to use too. The 3 different bouquets stamps are a nice size for smaller spaces in particular. It’s good to see a star burst out of an envelope making it a good one for masculine makes.

Nicky Guilburt has made 7 lovely cards using the freebies. The ones using the flowers and hearts are all so pretty and I love how the stars pop out of the other cards. Nicky certainly shows how you can get such different looks from the free gifts.

Tried & tested this month is from Tonic studios Stamp Club. A little confusion with the title as this is not a club or subscription product but is an exclusive monthly set of stamps and dies with some of them co-ordinating with some of the stamps. This collection is named “Woodland Harvest”. Ingrid Vichova has made cute cards using the animal characters. Her final card made using the die cut leaves is gorgeous.

Sarah Jackman Read has created several lovely off-the-page makes. They include a gorgeous little gift tag which can hold a secret message, two gift card holders and a gift box which can hold some sweets or chocolates. I hope to make some of these in the near future.

This technique shows how you can stretch your dies by using them to create a letterpress effect. It adds dimension without adding height so is good for keeping postal costs down. If you are going to lay die cuts over the inked design your dies must be symmetrical as they get reversed when cut.

Teresa Morgan has made some pretty cards. I love the simplicity of the friends and butterfly one in particular.

Here are some more ideas using the freebies. Marie Jones shares her beautiful cards. The first one has a How To: make the envelope topper. It is a quick and easy style of card but adding the envelope just adds that “something” to make it stand out. I will definitely be making the second card, the one with the 3 mini envelopes on it, as that is perfect for Chris. I also love the envelope and stars card. Using an “envelope” as the card base is a fun idea.

This article is all about shadow box cards. Jessica Rouke shows us how to make these beautiful cards starting with the basic card through to the final Just for you card. I love the different styles and most of all the gorgeous colour palette Jessica has chosen.

Please let me know if I can give you any more information. I must apologise to you all for the awful background of the photos this month.

Take care

Sue xx

Thank you so much Sue, I really do appreciate you taking the time to help me out for today's post, I could barely think straight yesterday, let alone write a magazine review! Thanks again ❤

I hope that you all have a lovely weekend,

Love and hugs to all of you,

  2. Hi everyone
Oh yes, I’ll go along with that quote! 😉
    Your flowers are beautiful.
Sad about the Air Tattoo. Goodwood Festival of Speed has been cancelled today due to the bad weather forecast. Luke is going with work, and they are having to make sure the cars are safe and won’t get damaged! They are very expensive, luxury and sports cars. I can imagine Luke’s pretty gutted as he loves having the chance to look around and watch the races - as well as doing some work of course! 😉
I hope you soon start feeling better and that these antibiotics work. Have another relaxing day and take it easy.
Karen, hope you get your insulin pump sorted.
A great review Sue, thanks for sharing.
    Have a good day everyone
Sending hugs to you all xxx

  4. Hello Sandra and everyone,
Sandra, your begonias and dahlias are absolutely beautiful the colour of the begonia. It’s almost electric. It’s gorgeous.
Sue, what a star you are stepping in to do the magazine review. Thank you so much it’s all very informative and so helpful. XXX
Daughter popping over for a cup of tea it will be nice to see her but I don’t think any of the children will be there as grandson is in Croatia on holiday. Her eldest is still in Leeds and the youngest has a weekend job, so she’s childfree but she will have the dog I suppose.
We’ve got two machine loads of washing out on the line, the sun keeps coming out and going in, it’s quite breezy out there. In fact John said to me you do realise I’m on Nicker duty don’t you! the wind keeps blowing the pants around the line ha ha ha. He’s a star.
Hope the Sun is shining where you are, take care ladies and have a good weekend, sending hugs to everyone. Love Brenda XXX
