A New Thrinchie using a stencil

Good Wednesday Morning Ladies,

We had a lovely sunny day yesterday,  chilly but glorious sunshine,  I ended up getting lucy to put the clothes airer on the deck and pegged washing out there as it is like a sun trap, so warm that you could sit out without a jacket.  The towels didn't fully dry but they were on the way to being dry,  the washing line was in shade at this point.  Why is getting washing dry outside such a great feeling?!  I love it, I love how fresh it smells and feels.  As I have said before... I am easily pleased. 🤣😂

This Thrinchie is one of Tracey Evans latest ones, I made i yesterday afternoon, as it uses a stencil, so works perfectly for the challenge.

I inked up a background stamp with Tumbled Glass, Mermaid Lagoon and a touch of Crackling Campfire, I then stamped it onto my Thrinchie,  I then took Tracy’s Bird Stencil....

I used the inside piece, so is that mask or stencil??

I used low tack tape (rolled up) to adhere the mask to the Thrinchie,  I then applied ink around the mask, first the Tumbled Glass, flicking outwards from the centre of the bird, I repeated with the Mermaid Lagoon,  which gives a great outline of the bird.  I then stamped the flower and added colour with pencils.  I stamped the phrase and added shading and then added some white splatters to finish and added to a black mat.

I hope that you have a good day,

Love and hugs to all,

Simple Embossed Design

Good Morning Ladies,

Oh yesterday was a chilly one, I usually have a 'housework day' on a Monday, after a relaxed weekend,  I like to freshen up the bathroom etc then the kitchen,  since Soph has been doing her Sourdough there seems to have been a constant cloud of flour over everything in the kitchen and the Sourdough mix itself sticks to everything,  a did have a saying in  my mind that my Mum used to use but I had better not say that!  Trust me it just balls up and attaches itself to anything,  the littke strainer I have in sink plug  hole was totally clogged up, you have to literally pick it out, I bet it would block the sink drain too!  I was saying to the girls at the weekend (while cleaning dried Sourdough from my butchers block table) that my mum would never buy us Blu tack and cellotape was not allowed so we used to mix flour and water to a paste (on the quiet) and use that to stick our posters up!  It still bewilders me that Sourdough is just flour and water!

I recently bought the Eileen Hull Crochet Mandala stamp for a card that I saw and loved,  so I thought I'd have a play with it and I remembered seeing a card by Ann Melvin, (who I knew through SU a few years ago), I loved the card for its simplicity and it was made with this folder so I had a go yesterday.

It is super simple, just emboss using black card,  then swipe over the embossing with a white ink pad, you may need to repeat the inking as it seems to dry lighter.  I then mounted the black embossed card onto a narrow mat of white card and then laid it across a black card base in a position that you like and then trim off the excess, overhanging card.  I then just popped a silver die cut sentiment under the angled embossed piece.

I hope that you a have a good day,

Love and hugs to all of you,

Our Next Challenge ....

Good Monday Morning Ladies,

Here we are at the start of a new week,  we are half way through March,  how's crazy is that!!!  I looked at the calendar yesterday and we only have like 12 weeks before we go on holiday!!  We are going 2 months earlier this year because my darling daughter decided she wanted to be  September bride like her mumma and her Nan too, this clashed with our usual holiday dates,  she also decided that she'd like us around for the couple weeks before hand in case she needed us 🙄  So we looked at alternative dates and June worked best for our budget and dates girls could do as they can only take leave in term time!  It's both frustrating and funny that our holidays are still dictated by our girls term times,  we thought that ended more than 5 years ago!!  I do still think its nice that they want to come on holiday with us, although it isn't as relaxing as when its just the two of us.

Our New Challenge

I couldn't make my mind up for our new challenge,  I thought about colour or shape,  but wanted something that would encourage us to use things that we have in our stash but forget to get out and use.  So I combined 3 things that I know I forget to use.....

Embossing/Stencils/Masks

We all have Embossing folders and Embossing Powders, I'm pretty sure that most of us have Stencils and Masks,  I've had some for over ten years, (although I do question why I bought some that I am yet to use)!

You can use any of them as the main focus of your card, journal page, Thrinchie or Snippet, or just use for a bit of background detail.  It's surprising what a difference a tiny bit of Distress ink through a stencil can make.  I want to combine stencils with my Gelli plate, so watch this space.

I hope this challenge gets you all inspired to create and maybe try something new, get those embossing pastes and mediums out, have fun, ink up your embossing folders,  get a bit messy, most of all my lovely friends just have fun 😘

Have a great start to your week,

Sending my love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra xxx

Mixed craft Saturday

Good Saturday Morning my lovelies,

I hope that you are all relaxed and ready to enjoy the weekend,  sadly the weather isn't forecast to be the best but we'll make the most of it.

First up today I want to give you an update on our Sourdough journey.....

The top photo is my Sourdough loaf that I baked on Thursday, its our best one so far, the bread was delicious and was gone by Friday afternoon!

Soph suggested that we make pizza bases yesterday,  so Paul and I got all the toppings while we were shopping,  we made the bases when we got back from shopping,  we all made our own adding whatever topping we fancied, they were deliscious,  we had some dougj left over so I made this quick Sourdough garlic pizza bread, everyone loved it !!

Karen

Karen is making these gorgeous animals for a friend, they are all adorable, however my favourite is the cheeky monkey, he just has a face that looks mischievous!!  Your friend will love every one of them.

Thank you so much for sharing them with us. XXX

Gina

Gina made this amazing card for her husband for their 18th Wedding Anniversary, I love how its a 'Review ' , so glad to see he passed !!  Your rainbow sentiment is a really amazing!!  I bet he smiled when he read your review!

The text on Gina's card is from Serif Craft Artist,  the stars were added after.

A lovely colourful Thrinchie

Good Friday Morning Ladies,

We had a lovely sunny day yesterday,  it was cold, the sun really deceived you into thinking it was lovely out.  Paul did get the washing on the line, which was lovely to see.  (Its the simple things sometimes) 🤣

I was so excited to have a go at this Thrinchie as I loved how colourful it was, it reminds me of Easter.  I didn't have the same stamps that Tracey used so improvised with the background, I took the stamp and added,  Salty Ocean,  Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry,  Twisted Citron, Spiced Marmalade oxide inks and added then randomly over the stamp, spritzed with water and stamped onto my Thrinchie, I spritzed again and then stamped the Crocus stamp in black and Wilted Violet and Twisted Citron ink and fussy cut them both.  I arranged them on the Thrinchie and glued them into place and added the title, the little tag with 'C' for Crocus and the Hare,  I then added the shading and white splatters to finish,  the black mat finishes the look.

I will announce the New Challenge tomorrow,

Have a lovely Friday,

Love & hugs to all,

A Spring Journal Page

Good Morning Ladies,

Thursday has come round really fast this week, not that anything really exciting has happened 🙄😂  Tuesday & Wednesday usually go by fast as Lucy is home and we usually go out somewhere,  on both days I have fully intended to sit and create when I got home but after a 'quick' browse (2 hours probably) on Pinterest it was time to pack up!

Today I am sharing a journal I created over 3 years ago!

I used Aall&Create #266 Daisy Elegance stamp set, I fussy cut the flower that I stamped on Watercolour card and coloured it with Chromatek pens and a waterbrush, they do seem to blend quite well. I used the same colours on the vase, the background was one of my Alcohol ink backgrounds with a little stamping and stencilling to carry the orange/yellow from the flower to the background. The Tim Holtz Tape in black I used to tie in the black stamping. I popped it into my black journal as the black background made the colours in the card pop!

I hope that you all have a fab Thursday,

Love and hugs to all,

Sandra xxx

Watercoloured effect Snippet

Good Wednesday Morning Ladies,

I have to add the day in the greeting to remind myself what day we're on,  it only takes one thing to change in our routine to throw me right out.  Lewis has changed jobs so the nights that they see each other has changed too, he used to come here Tuesday and Soph goes to his on Thursday, now he comes here Monday and she goes there on Wednesday,  so I thought yesterday was Wednesday all day, Thursday will now feel like a Friday as we are used to having Soph home on a Thursday,  all so confusing!!

Lucy and I had a nice couple of hours out, we popped to Stow to pick up some shopping bits and had a wander round. Then Paul and I went out for Tapas to celebrate the anniversary of the day we met, 37 years ago!

Today I am sharing a Snippet, (Tracey made this as a card but I prefer it as a Snippet)  I stamped the text block  masked it and added the flowers, I coloured the flowers and stems with Ecoline pens,  I used two shades of Ecoline in the text box and then spritzed with water and let the colour run, I heat dried when I was happy with the run of ink.  After it was dry I added the letters and the pheasants. I finished with some white splatters and mounted onto a black mat.

I hope you have a good Wednesday,

Love and hugs to all,

An Amazing Achievement card by Karen

Good Morning Ladies,

Well the sunny weather was lovely while it lasted, there was a marked difference in the temperature yesterday, today is forecast to be even colder,  we are forecast to dip down to -2 or -3 tonight.  It didn't deter Milo & Bella though, they went to every corner of the house to check that everything was as it should be after Harleys visit!!   I discovered one area that didn't survive Harley's visit unscathed....  Now Soph did ask Paul to go check downstairs as Harley was making a lot of banging and clanging about Paul came down at 1am and he didn't see anything to worry about,  settled him down and came back to bed.  Paul spent the whole of Sunday outside and I was upstairs,  so it wasn't until yesterday morning when I went to sit at my desk that I discovered what he'd been up to!   I have a set of drawers that run under my desk on the left hand side, I sometimes keep biscuits or pretzel sticks in there,  sealed in Ziplock bags, I must have left a ziplock bag in there with crumbs in because he sniffed it out, we found the bag torn to bits, the ziplock still sealed, he had the contents of two drawers out, one had a big reel of  double sided foam pads, they were everywhere,  he had my bin out, probably because of an empty pretzel packet, so there were pencil shavings, bits of kitchen roll, the peel off bits of sticky pads and some date pips everywhere,  mixed with half contents of my 'bit box', it was a bloody disaster zone!  I went and had some breakfast to prepare myself,  then got another bin bag and spent an hour putting everything back in its place and vacuuming everywhere!  Not the best start to a Monday morning but it made me have a good clean up !!

Today I am sharing a fantastic card that Karen made for one of their Neighbours for completing 300 park runs 🏃‍♂️!

Karen's Description:

OH came home from Park Eun today and asked if I could make a card for a neighbour that completed his 300th run today

I started off trying to do a Penny slider but I think the image was too small to hide the penny So I’ve foam mounted the image instead

So

1 image

2 layers

3 the number 3 in the sentiment

Background created in Serif (eventually!) and googled the runner

Park Run don’t commemorate 300

Wow what an amazing achievement,  I could never imagine completing one, let alone 300 !!  Its a shame that Park Run don't reward 300 runs!

Your card is brilliant,  money couldn't buy such a personalised card, it's perfect Karen,  I bet he loved it.

Thank you for sharing another challenge Inspiration card with us XXX

I hope that you all stay warm and dry today,

Sending love and hugs to all,

Malva Snippet

Good Monday Morning Ladies,

I feel a little frustrated that I missed all of the gorgeous weather thos weekend,  unfortunately the cats didn't enjoy being kept upstairs the whole weekend, every time I tried to leave them to grab a drink or something to eat they'd attempt to escape or start scrapping,  Milo likes to be with Paul so didn't appreciate being kept apart from him.  Harley was well behaved, he thoroughly enjoyed being in the garden all day playing football,  he slept most of the evening,  he wasn't as settled in the night but we live in a much quieter place than Matt so I think that was unsettling, he also sleeps in their room so he was probably missing that too.  I feel like I haven't seen Paul all weekend 😕.

Today's Snippet I found a little bit frustrating,  a lot more time consuming than the others I've made.  The background was made by smooshing Hickory Smoke, Vintage Photo and a little Black Soot distress oxide inks.  I then stamped the jar using Hickory Smoke around the edges with a little black soot on the very edge of the jar,  I then stamped onto the background and took a wet brush with some watered down Hickory Smoke to blend out the ink. I took the Malva flower and stamped 3 and masked them off and the top of the jar and added some foliage stems to fill the jar and bouquet out.   The next step was to use white paint and paint in all of the malva flowers, allow them to dry and then use a HB pencil and a paper stump to blend out the grey, here is where I had a problem, my pencil just dug into the white paint no matter how gentle I was, it looked awful and it wouldn't blend, so I ended up stamping more onto white card, painting in a much thinner white paint layer and going in a lot gentler with the HB pencil and paper stump,  I then fussy cut them and stuck them over the stamped flowers, they are a long way from perfect, but they will do. I then stamped the pheasant and added shading and some extra details with my fine Posca white pen.  Its a different look, I quite like the overall effect of the darker colours.

I would say that I hope you enjoy the weather but its turning back much cooler this week, it was 18° here yesterday its forecast to be 7° tomorrow,  it's like a tease!

I hope you make the most of what ever the weather is,

Love and hugs to all,

Sandra xxx

Let's see what you have been making...

Good Sunday Morning Ladies,

I hope you are all enjoying the weekend,  the weather here was lovely yesterday, which was a bonus with us having Harley, Paul spent the whole day in the garden, mowing the lawn and cutting back some unruly bushes, I think Harley had the time of his life.  I on the hand was upstairs babysitting the cats, as they usually have the run of the house and Milo likes to be wherever we are,  so by me staying upstairs it wasn't too hard on them.

I'm hoping that Matt doesn't stay too late at his show as I'd like to see some of the sunshine and get some seeds planted.

Let's have look at your makes....

Karen

Its Saturday!!

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

Fingers crossed you get to share some of the lovely sunshine that we have been blessed with.

We have moved everything to a super high shelves or into the pantry that can be locked!! As Harley may look like a big dog, he is a Border Colley and has a reach than you wouldn't believe!!  I'm glad its only 1 night that we are looking after him!

Maria

Maria went to a Mixed Media workshop last weekend, she really enjoyed using the different techniques and using objects that she hadn't used too.
Here is Maria's Description:

Sending you here my offering that I made on Saturday class in Leighton Buzzard, it was only 20 minutes from home ,so happy to find it for I will definitely go again . It's costly and you have to bring your own of certain things like scissors, glue gun etc. otherwise they had most bits
like brushes and all you need for the work.  This is a plywood tag with a lovely paper, the really thin version,  from top to bottom we attached shapes of Resin all painted in black. In the pack was also these pieces of Ephemera by Stamperia.  The ones we used were the pyramids, cat, globe candle and a few other bits.  I'm happy with it but don't like that most of them are quite dark.  They do have some nice ones tho like for example the book covers and dragons.

Your tag is amazing Maria and I am so pleased that you enjoyed this craft session, I hope there are more workshops happening nearby for you to enjoy,  Thank you so much for sharing your tag with us.

Well I must go and finish checking there are no escape routes for the cats!!"

I hope that you all have a lovely Saturday,

Love & Hugs to all of you,

A Pretty Snippet

 Good Friday Morning Ladies,

We have a very busy, possibly chaotic weekend ahead as we are looking after Harley, we are going to have to be extra careful this time as Bella doesn't need any added stress,  so we are going to have to close off the top of the stairs as our stairs have open balustrades that the little monkeys kept putting their heads through,  teasing Harley!   Paul is planning on cutting the lawn if it stays dry so that will keep Harley entertained in the garden, I will stay in and keep the cats entertained, it seems so unfair that they can't go out as they love the garden.

I had a good crafting session yesterday,  I was home alone so determined to keep myself busy!   Soph came home from Lewis's around 2pm and we got on with baking some more Bagels,  her Sourdough Bagels were more delicious than any I've bought, so we made a bigger batch this time,  17 in all, although it was supposed to be 16!  They are huge too.

Today's Snippet I made yesterday and really enjoyed this one.  I stamped the flower,  added a mask and then added the ferns, I used my Ecoline pens to colour the flower,  Deep Yellow,  Deep Orange & Carmine,  blended together with a little water and a brush.  I then took Salty Ocean distress oxide and water and a brush and added colour all around the stamped image, making those colours really pop!  I finished with a sentiment and a few splatters.

For the challenge ......

1  Flower

2  Rectangles of card (one black one white)  the             background white is for photographing

3  Colours of Ecoline pens

I hope that you all have a lovely Friday,

Love & hugs to all of you,

Karen's 123 Challenge card

Good Thursday Morning Ladies,

The sunshine had all the activities going on in our garden today,  Bill was out pollarding the tree outside our bedroom window,  which means we will get our full view back, Paul was a bit worried about him doing it all though so he did some too, they are hoping to finish it by the weekend.  It was Lucy's day off, she didn't want to leave Bella so we didn't go anywhere today,  while the sun was shining she decided she would wash her car, so Paul got the pressure washer out and she got busy scrubbing and polishing,  she didn't do our car though 🙄🤣

I am sharing one of Karen's 1 - 2 - 3 Challenge cards today...

Karen's Description:

Here’s a card for the 123 challenge

 1 die cut

2 layers

3 strips of Aall&Create layering washi tape to create image

The fourth strip to complete the picture I tore into strips to create the background

Those macarons look almost edible Karen 😋, love the card,  works perfectly for the challenge.

My latest Thrinchies

Good Wednesday Morning Ladies,

I hope that you are all enjoying the lovely Spring sunshine, it makes such a difference to the day, I just had a long sleeved jumper and a Gilet on when Lucy & I popped into Witney yesterday.

Bella had her last 🤞 visit to the vets and they were pleased with her progress, it looks like the antibiotics did their job, we do have anti- inflammatories to give her to the weekend,  the vet cleaned it up, removing any hair etc from around the sore, she didn't move bless her heart, fingers crossed she keeps her cute collar on and leaves it alone.  At almost £700 we are thankful of our pet insurance!

Today I am sharing my latest Thrinchies,  these ones had a fun backgtound colouring technique,  I used the lid of Distress Oxide ink,  I then took Twisted Citron,  Rustic Wilderness & Vintage Photo Distress Oxide and tapped the ink around the thin rim of the inner side of the lid.  I then placed it down onto my Thrinchie, holding for a few seconds for the ink to transfer, then spritz with water.  I then dried with my heat tool and went on with the stamping.

The thrinchie on the right I used the flat side of the Oxide lid (the top), I used the same three inks (a bit more of the Twisted Citron) I spritzed lightly with water before placing the inked lid down onto my Thrinchie,  again leaving to dry for a few seconds.

I followed a Tracey Evans tutorial for these on YouTube,  well worth a watch if you want some different background ideas etc.

I hope you have a go at this technique.

Oh and for this weeks challenge for each Thrinchie..

1 Tag (stamp)

2  animals

3   Colours

I hope that you all have a good day,

Love & hugs to all of you,

Amongst The Trees card

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope today finds you well,  we had another sunny day, although it went down to -4 last night.  So it was a very chilly start to the day.

I got a GP appointment yesterday,  I was in a lot of pain in my while abdomen,  so I didn't know if it was my Liver, my bladder or the Bile duct that was causing the pain.  The Gp I saw was lovely,  very sympathetic,  he was frustrated that I hadn't had any follow up from GI Consultant,  he was reading results to the best if his knowledge but like my own GP he has no real knowledge of the 'Biliary Tree '  he explained that he thought there must be a stone lodged somewhere as the duct in question is meant to be free flowing but mine was full of liquid so it is unable to drain, which will be adding to the inflammation.  He seemed to think that the extreme discomfort was as a combined result of the inflamed duct and my bowel reacting badly to being inflated with gas,  which I think seems odd aa it was weeks ago.  He has given me some peppermint capsules (max strength) to help with the bloating and discomfort.  He went on to say that if Oxycodone isn't easing the pain then its unlikely anything would.  He is going to discuss everything with my Gp and chasing GI consultant.

Today I am sharing a recent card that I made using Tracey Evans stamps and following a workshop.

The card also will work with our latest Challenge.. .

1: sentiment

2: cats

3 silhouette trees

It's a simple card, I have to work on my shadow skills but I quite enjoyed making the card,  I used a stiff stencil brush to add the acrylic paint to the trees.

I hope that you all have a lovely day,

Love & hugs to all,

Tulip Thrinchie 2

Good Monday Morning Ladies,

Welcome to the start of the first full week of March, we have started out strongly weather wise.   Frustratingly I didn't get to enjoy as I have felt really unwell all weekend,  my whole body hurts but my whole abdomen more than anything else, I spent the whole of yesterday unable to get off the sofa, I was cold but had goosebumps that felt like they burnt.  Fingers crossed for a better dsy today!

Today I am sharing the partner to Friday's Thrinchie,  it will also work for our New Challenge too:  1 Background stamp  2 Rabbits  3 Tulips.

I also used three different pencils to colour the tex5 box and tulips.

I think that seeing them as a pair makes them look even better !!

I hope that you all have a great start to the week,

Love & hugs

This weeks crafts...

Good Sunday Morning Ladies,

What a glorious start to March,  the weather was beautiful yesterday,  we even got the washing almost dry, so lovely seeing it blowing on the line!   I got out in the garden too, only for around 45 minutes as I was shadowing Bella all day,   her new collar arrived yesterday,  just look at this pitiful face....

Bless her, my heart breaks seeing her so sad 😞

I have had a fun week crafting,  creating 2 fun cards and more Thrinchies , I love creating those little squares of art.

Lets have a look at what you have been making !

Karen

Karen's Description:

Here’s my version of Thrinchie 3 After 4 attempts I was losing the will I’d get so far and smudge it This isn’t brilliant but it’s all about learning from mistakes I’m a bit cross coz I thought she said 2 1/4” circle but by the look of it it should have been 2 3/4” but like I say I was losing the will
I used #281 for bird and a Bipasha one #27 instead of chevron Shame they’re both not TE but at least they’re Aall and Create

Karen had the genius idea of creating a 'Botched ' pocket to the front of her Thrinchie album, for those Thrinchies that didn't make the 'cut', I think its a great idea to keep the ones we made mistakes on as this is how we learn.

Thank you Karen for inspiring us and reminding us that making mistakes is part of the process.  XXX

Lilian

Lilian's Description:

Here are my thrinchies for this week,
I used different stamps ,but not sure where some of them came from.
The back ground is far too dark, but it did not want to lighten.
We have been having terrible trouble with our emails, have spent all day trying to get it sorted. Will try something different next week.

I don't think your Thrinchies are too dark, I think they are the  perfect colour to highlight your stamped images.  Look how clearly the stand out. Those embossed flowers are so crisp and every detail is clearly visible.

Thank you so much for taking part and sharing your amazing Thrinchies XXX

Maria's Description:

I have been playing with these thrinchies for a few days now and this is it 😊
I used TH inks and stamps from various places. Not sure if they can be classed as thrinchies and they are definitely nothing like yours, Karen or Lilian's 🤭. I had some cut offs from a frame so I went ahead and used them too stamed in similar colour and put a little owl in because it always seems to be a little animal around.

Maria, once again you have 3 amazing Thrinchies, each completely different,  all 3 incredibly detailed,  I like the combinations of stamps that you have used too.

Thank you so much for taking part in our Thrinchie Challenge,  I hope you have enjoyed it, you certainly 'aced' the challenge!! XXX
