Card & Matching Box I made for Swap Partner

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that you are all well, thank you all for the lovely comments on Karen's card, I had a really fun messy craft day that day, my hands were blue for a couple of days after, I did buy myself a huge box of rubber gloves but by the time that I remember to get a pair my hands are already a mess!

Pat came over yesterday and bought some lunch and yummy Fresh Cream Cakes, strawberries, cream and meringue never gets old, it's a marriage made in heaven!
We both sat and did some Groovi crafting in the afternoon, before Pat left to go and have her tea at Craig's.  Thank you for a lovely afternoon Pat xxxx

OMG I had such a lovely message from Elaine Parker who I was in a Swap with (I shared her lovely swap items on Saturday).
She was so pleased with my card and box (and a couple of other little bits that I added in), she said that my card was so beautiful that it bought tears to her eyes!  To me that makes making the card and matching box SO worth the effort, just to know that somebody was touched by your work really warms your heart.

I altered the original card a little as I wasn't happy with the sentiment, I had a large 'Just For You' die that I die cut 3 times and adhered them together. I placed them down on an angle so that it looked right when the card was open, I added a couple of flowers with Hot Glue behind them to act as the card stopper.
The papers were from 'The Craft Box' they are called 'In My Garden', such pretty floral designs, I used another sheet to cover the top of an 8 1/4 X 8 1/4 box, I used the same ribbon as I had used on the card, made a double tulle Bow to go underneath the ribbon to lift it a little and finished the bow with a resin pearl heart.

I think it will be another craft room day today, Sophie is at Uni and Lucy is dressing up as a 'Scary Scarecrow', she had a friend stay over last night so they are getting ready together this morning, I feel it will be a little bit chaotic!  (they are both going dressed the same)!  They were asked to dress up for Halloween for work, but the brief was to not 'too scary' so that they don't scare the children!  I wonder if she will let me take a photo?! (not holding my breath)!

I hope that you all have a lovely day,

Love and hugs to all,

Sandra

Karen's Birthday Card

Good Morning Ladies,

Today I am sharing with you the Birthday card that I made for Karen, (I had to ask Karen to send me  a photo as in my rush to get it in the post I totally forgot to take a photo).
Sue and I were playing with making different backgrounds last week, some with Pixie Powders, some with Alcohol inks and stains, I can't remember which background I used in the end, I have a whole pile on my desk that didn't 'make the final cut'
The die I used to create the cut out on the front of the card is a Tim Holtz background die called 'Mixed Media 2', I was surprised by the size of the die.  I will say that the first time I cut it I had it to close to the edge of the paper and the whole die cut piece falls out, so if you use it, remember to set it in from the edge of your paper, learn from my mistakes! Hahaha
I used some of the background to die cut the Happy Birthday, then mounted the card onto Navy card and then onto a white base card.

Now I have some sad news from our lovely Val, I know a lot of you have been wondering why she hasn't been posting on the blog for a while, we were all a little worried, as we are with anyone that we haven't heard from in a while.
Val emailed me yesterday to let me know that her GP has advised her to avoid screens, so no TV, Computer or Tablet screens too, if has even affected her Card Making, they think that it is down to Eye Strain.  So Val is taking a break, listening to the radio and audio books.  I know that you will join me in wishing Val a speedy recovery.  We can all imagine how awful if would be not to be able to make cards, so we totally sympathize.  Sending hugs Val xxxx

Pat is actually coming over today (not yesterday), I had posted the blog before making plans, Sue is away in Devon this week, so having Pat come over on today breaks the week up really nicely, I am looking forward to some crafting company.

I hope that you all have a lovely day,

Love and hugs to all,

Sandra

Another Challenge Card and Happy Birthday Karen !!!

Good Morning Ladies,

Please join me in wishing our lovely Karen a Very Happy Birthday, I hope you have an amazing day Karen followed by a year of love and laughter xxxxxx

I had a fun afternoon playing with Alcohol Inks yesterday, I only have a few colours, enough to make a right mess I have to say, it is so much fun though, you can't get the same look twice, the inks almost look like they are alive as you watch them mixing and swirling together on your mat, I just wait until I like the look of the ink mixture and then place my glossy paper down on to the ink, if when you lift the paper there are spots that aren't covered you can put a few drops of the same coloured ink on your blending tool and dap around your paper.
I think that this piece looks like a view of the earth from an aeroplane!
All I did to make the card was die cut a frame with Sue Wilson Double Pierced Rectangles and laid it over my inked piece, I then took a Tonic sentiment (that I have had for years and not used) die cut it twice and layered them together, I placed that into the centre of my inked panel.
I matted this onto another Rectangle die cut and then onto a card base made with Call me Clover Card.
I think that this makes a great 'Man' Card, do you?
I can't wait to see your Man cards, ladies.

I think Pat is coming over today, so some Groovi fun is on the cards I hope!

I hope that you all have a lovely day,

Love and hugs to all,

Sandra

My 'Man' Challenge Card

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that you have all had an enjoyable weekend, ours was very laid back, we popped out on Saturday to go to Hobbycraft as I was desperate for 300GSM white card, that's the down side of no Ally Pally this year, I didn't get around to re-stocking.  I tend to buy A3 as I can use that for boxes too.  I thought that Hobbycraft were going to be expensive but in actual fact they were a very similar price to shows.  I did order a great bargain deal from Pink Frog Crafts Show on Hochanda on Saturday afternoon too, so I will be fully stocked up for a while.
Do you all have a favourite Brand???
The one I have been buying is from Crafts UK Limited, it has a Blue Band around the card pack with the Union Flag on. I find that it's great for Stamping on, making boxes and card bases too.
I always used to use Centura Pearl and still do occasionally if I get it at a good price, I don't want every box to have a pearl finish though.

Now I am going to admit that I didn't find making a 'Man' card particularly easy this time, I sat thinking about it for hours. I then decided to use of the 'Laminator sheet' Backgrounds that I had made last week and make a Man card featuring Stars, I die cut an aperture into the Soft Suede Card and then added some foam pads around the star on the back of the card.  I added more foam pads to the back and used these to stick my wire to, as I did each wrap around I added 3 more stars.  I then adhered my card front to the 'Early Espresso' card base.  I stamped 'Happy, Birthday, To You' on three seperate stars that I backed with darker card and arranged around the front of my card.
I think that this card would work for a Man, do you?

I do wonder why we find it harder to make cards for men?  I think it might be because we are used to using all things pretty, flowers, butterflies, ribbon and pearls, none of which have a place on most 'Man' cards.  I just don't seem to have many masculine stamps or embellishments.  I spend longer thinking about what I want to do than I do making the card.!

I hope that you all have a lovely week ahead, Karen & Michele I do hope that work goes smoothly today, you will be in my thoughts.

Janet I hope that you make it home in good time my lovely. XXX

Sending love and Hugs to all of you,

Sandra

Mixed Craft Saturday Featuring Michele's Magazine Review

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

It looks like we are all in for another soaking, one of the headlines on Google was 'One Month's Rain to fall in 30 Hours', I think it is mostly in the North of the Country, I guess we will have to wait and see!  I hope that you all manage to stay safe and dry.  We had really strong, blustery winds all day yesterday, I was mesmerized by the amount of falling leaves, it was like the most colourful rain storm!  I am easily pleased (and distracted)!

First up today is a Gift Box for the Diamond Easel card that I made for a swap the other day, I got a bit carried away with those dimensional flowers and there is no way I could fit that card in an envelope! So I created this box to match the card, using the same Paper Boutique Butterfly papers, I made all of the flowers with the Flower shaping Mold.

My Swap From Elaine Parker

I was lucky enough to receive a lovely parcel in the post on Thursday, inside I found all of the above amazing craft projects.
It was all beautifully hand crafted by a lovely lady called Elaine Parker, she is my Swap Partner over on our Facebook group, the Swap was for a Fun Fold Card, which is the first photo in this group,
Elaine has also made a beautiful Wallet with some beautiful Gift Tags inside, this was placed inside a matching Pouch (2nd Photo).
The Wallet with the Tags in was held together with a lovely Belly Band that had a matching Topper on the front, the papers that Elaine has used are absolutely gorgeous.
There were also 3 adorable Decoupaged Christmas Tags in the parcel, I was absolutely blown away with my lovely swap package. xxx

Thank you so much for sharing Lynda XXX

Michele's Magazine Review

Hi Ladies

Diecutting Essentials has a really lovely set of Dies free this month & it’s not just for Christmas.

.

The photo below shows a couple of ideas using the free gift.

This article shows lots of ideas.

The article below has done great inspiration using the free gift.

Part two!

The feature on Rocker cards looks great & these cards would definitely stand out.

This feature on Bendy cards looks interesting & the cards look quite amazing.

That’s all for this week,
Happy Crafting.

Love Michele

Michele I think I might have to subscribe to this magazine, the features you show for this magazine each month really appeal to me, I know that Sue bought the last one too.  I wonder if there are any subscription  offers going on?  There are so many great features too, 'On The Edge' , 'Rocker' & 'Bendy' card techniques, most magazine have one.
I know it is a little more expensive than some other magazine but you do seem to get a lot for your money.
Thank you so much for a fantastic review my lovely, enjoy the rest of your weekend XXX

Can You Help Michele??

Michele is thinking about buying this die, she is asking if any of you have purchased it, if so what did you think, does it cut well?
Thanks in advance xxx

Thank you to everyone that took part in today's Blog, I hope that you all have a lovely weekend,

Love and hugs to all of you,

A different style of card and Next Weeks Challenge

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that you have all had a lovely week, it's flown by as usual, I think that maybe because I was lucky enough to have Sue and Pat visit this week, helping the days go by a little faster.
I watched Hochanda for a good part of yesterday, as Maria was on with Groovi goodies, the 'Shoe' Plates weren't really my thing but I love watching all of the hints and tips and I messaged in to ask if they could show how to use the Mapping Pen and Glitter and they kindly obliged, I can see it being a useful tool for adding fine detail glue to anything.  Watch this space!

Next Weeks Challenge

I was struggling for an idea for this week as I like to keep things fresh and try not to repeat the same themes in a short time period.
I was making some backgrounds for a new video that I want to record using a laminator, I made the card above up with one of the backgrounds and decided to make it into a Man card, which gave me the inspiration for this weeks Challenge.
I would like you to make a card/project that would work for a Male, the topic and techniques are totally up to you.
Do any of you make Male Christmas cards?  I haven't done up until now, I think I might have a go, most Christmas themes aren't particularly feminine are they?
I can't wait to see your designs!

Talking of Christmas, did any of you see Anna Marie Designs on Create & Craft on Monday (I think), she had designed this really 'different' Christmas tree die, I have never seen anything like it, of course I had to go over to Anna's shop and order one, I hope to have a play with it tomorrow, I can't wait to share it with you.

Don't forget that Clocks Go Back on Saturday night/Sunday Morning, so the nights will be a lot darker, not my favourite part of Winter, I think that it makes crafting harder, even with lots of light in my craft room it's tricky to perfectly match colours without the natural sunlight. We all manage though don't we.

I hope that you all have a lovely weekend, nothing much planned here,

Janet I hope that your journey goes smoothly xxx

Pat, I hope that your journey to Essex goes smoothly and that the diversions don't cause you too many problems, just take your time my lovely xxx

Love and Hugs to all of you,

Sandra

Margaret's Amazing Birthday card

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that you are all well and having a good day so far, quiet one for me today as everyone is working or at Uni and all have my lovely weekly visits are over, I do have quite a bit to do in the craft room though, so that's where I will be.

Janet, it barely seems a week since you arrived at Marigny, I imagine you are sad to be packing and returning home so soon, it sounds as though the car will be full on the way back, I do hope Jim manages to get the storage heater set up, you will both be worrying if he can't.  I hope that your journey home is smoother than last time, hopefully the roads from Dover should be quieter this time of year. xxx

Lilian, I totally agree that you should make the most of the lovely weather while it lasts, there will be plenty of rainy days for crafting, I bet your show of Spring bulbs will love amazing, I really love Spring. xxx

Today's card is one that I am thrilled to be able to share as it's one of Our Margaret's cards, I have really missed sharing Margaret's lovely cards but totally understand the circumstances, it just means that when there is one to be shared it's worth Celebrating!
This particular card was made for Margaret's Grandson, I believe that the lovely paper is a Stampin'Up! design from last year, it has such lovely colours in it, I love pinecones and those fronds of foliage are so delicate, Margaret has picked out on of the darker shades of green to use as the accent colour to create the frame and the die cut sentiment. The whole card is then mounted onto a Black base card.
Such a lovely design Margaret, I bet you thoroughly enjoyed your day with Sue at the weekend, crafting together is so much more fun, I think it's brilliant that you are able to continue creating and designing your cards, having Sue to help with the cutting and assembling is the perfect solution for the next few weeks, I am sure that the moment you are strong enough you will be back at it. XXX

Sue and I had a lovely day yesterday, we started the day with Homemade soup and warm bread, then got down to some serious crafting, miraculously it didn't take us too long to decide what we were going to make, we were both trying new techniques, needless to say that mine was the messiest, I think I will have blue fingers for days, I loved the results though!
We took a break for a cuppa and yummy, mouth wateringly good lemon tarts, the pastry base was like shortbread and virtually melted in your mouth, the tart lemon curd was topped with fresh raspberries, they are heavenly!  We continued crafting while listening to a lady I recently discovered on YouTube, she reviews beauty products etc, she also does like an Agony Aunt type show which is hilarious, it was hard to concentrate as we stared in disbelief at some of the things people message in for her to help them with, she literally has you crying with laughter.  Thank you Sue for a lovely afternoon XXX

I hope that you all have a lovely day, I want to send Hugs to Val if she is looking in, we really miss you popping in my lovely xxx

Lynda should be on her way back home by now, we had a lovely chat on Monday evening, they are having a lovely time, the weather had been beautiful too, I hope that you had a smooth journey home Lynda & CU xxx

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra

Karen's Wedding Card

Good Morning Ladies,

We had a lovely day yesterday, sun was shining and wasn't too chilly, so nice that the window cleaner turned up, I was in two minds but because Paul wasn't happy that it was £26 last time but tte windows haven't been cleaned since then, some of them are tricky to get to without a really long ladder too.  So i asked him to ckean them, he doesn't use a ladder though, he has a brush on a long pole with a hose attached, my only complaint is that he doesn't dry them, he rinses them with pure clean water (apparently) which will dry clear unlike rainwater, I am yet to be convinced! They did look cleaner, i will have to get the insides cleaned now!
The other thing we have to organise is a Chimney sweep, you don't see or hear of them much these days, which surprises me as having a real fire is quite trendy.  I dread to think how much they cost!

Pat came over yesterday and we both having a 'Groovi' afternoon, Pat has some lovely designs on the go.  I think the one thing that I find slightly frustrating is that you can't really make 'quick' cards.  It's not necessarily a bad thing as each piece is a work of art, when you are a daily blogger though, having quick and easy is a god send.  It does us all good to sit and relax sometimes and I think that Groovi will be my 'relaxing' tool. Thanks Pat for a lovely afternoon  XXX
Today's card is the Wedding Card that Karen has been talking about, it looks amazing Karen, I think that changing the tie from a Bow Tie to a Regular Tie is a great idea to make the Groom's Suit more casual than formal, as well as removing the lapels. The embossing on the Ladies heart is really pretty too.  The whole card really works, I am sure that they will both love

I will add Karen's Description below:

"Here’s the wedding card I was telling you about,
There are tons of similar ones on Pinterest
The groom is wearing an “ordinary” suit So I cut out and added lapels and used the tie from one of SW’s sets
I might ask if she knows what colour buttonholes they’re wearing and add a small flower
It’s matted onto a dark green as his suit is a brown/green plaid"  Thank you so much Karen for sharing your card, it's another of your incredible designs. XXX

I am looking forward to seeing Sue today, it seems like ages since we last crafted together.

I hope that you all have a lovely day,

Love and hugs to all,

Sandra

Tuesday 22 October 2019

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that you are all well and wrapped up warm as the days get a little cooler, the Aga is no lit and what a difference it makes, it makes the kitchen feel really warm and homely.

Today's card has been sat half made for about 4 months,  I started it  well I stuck the papers on the Twisted Easel card base, I had also picked out a whole range of flowers and some lace and then I just popped it all in a bag as I lost inspiration!
Anyway I needed to make another 'Fun Fold' card for an extra swap over on our Facebook group,  I sat trying to decide what to do and the bag that had this card base in caught my eye, so I tipped the contents onto my desk and started to play,  I think that part of the problem is the colour of the paper, it's a really odd pink, making it hard to match flowers too, or even card to make flowers  so i decided to make some 'slightly' off white flowers which I made with some Handmade paper, I then used some of the actual decorative paper to make a couple and added Victorian Velvet Distress ink to introduce some colour.  I cut lots of foliage and picked out some smaller flowers to create an arrangement.
Before I started I popped some lace across the card, which I had woven some pink Seam Binding Ribbon through.
I then added a decorative 'Snip Art' piece for some extra detail, I love these as they are really light and so pretty and you can use lots of different colouring techniques on them, changing them to match your project,  they look great with metallic wax or embossing powders  on them.
I finally got to starting my arrangement, which is basically a case of playing around until you're happy (ish) with your layout.
I tied a triple bow with the same ribbon and popped it on the opposite ebd of the lace, fonished with a pearl heart.
I did the same ribbon bow to the bottom section and I added  MDF greeting that I had previously Gesso'd and I added some Victorian Velvet  ink to tie in with the rest of the card.
The finishing touches were a few pearl hearts and some pearl swirls.
I little bit elaborate but, well sometimes you just have to go a little OTT!!

Pat is coming over today, which I am looking forward to. XXX

I hope you all have a lovely day too,

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra

A fantastic pair of Fun Fold Cards

Karen Cass

 Cheryl

insert

Good Monday Morning Ladies,

Monday again!! Did any of you get any crafting done at the weekend??  I sat and played around with some different things, I had a parcel from Clarity that I had ordered a good three weeks ago from Hochanda, I had received everything else but the thing that I wanted the most (Picot Dies) were still missing, I called them on Thursday and spoke to a lovely chap, we went through everything and then it clicked!  I could see exactly what happened, I had ordered 3 seperate things that day (at different times) (all Groovi), this created 3 invoices, they obviously will try and fit as many things in one parcel as possible, which makes sense, the three invoices were stapled together, the items in the package were ticked off on invoice, apart from invoice 3, which were not going to fit in this box, I guess that the thinking was that they would just start another parcel, but never got around to it, mean time the invoice was packaged inside the one parcel with the other two and posted, so I guess that they had no outstanding paperwork.  I sent copies of the invoices etc to Hochanda and the lovely Ben was straight on to solving the issue, within a couple of hours he told me that Clarity were aware of the situation and were sending out the items by Royal Mail, true to their word it was first class and arrived Saturday morning.
I think that sometimes can forget to praise when things have been dealt with properly,  especially the shopping channels as they more often than not get it wrong!!

Oh on the subject of Shopping TV, did any of you buy the Cutterpillar Pro when it first came out, If so let me know and I will explain my recent communication with them.

Now onto today's cards....

The first is a gorgeous 'Arrow Head Fold' card that I received from a lovely lady called Karen over on our Fb Group, she said that the actually 'Fold' was designed by the Sam who's blog is 'Mixed Up Crafts', Karen followed Sam's tutorial using her own Design and it turned out amazingly, the paper that Karen has used is a really delicate floral that has delicate shades of different colours in the background mixed with those lovely daisies, to enhance this lovely paper Karen has added a mat of Rose gold glitter card, which really catches the light. she then die cut some pretty foliage pieces in the same glitter card and tucked them under the sentiment.
Karen I love my swap card thank you so much for taking part xxx

Next up is Cheryl's Fun Fold card that she made for the same swap, the card front is like looking through a window, I guess you could use it as a lantern as well.
On the first card Cheryl has added snowflakes onto acetate and placed that behind the window so that when you open the card it's like looking out and seeing a snow blizzard, the sentiment matches the card perfectly.
Cheryl's second card uses the same card front but this time she has used an adorable Polar Bear & cub topper, this time you put it onto the inside of the card so that when the card is stood up it looks as though you are peeking out at that cute scene.
Both cards are amazing Cheryl, such a fantastic idea. xxx.

I hope that you all have a lovely day my lovelies,

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra
