Monday 'Tic Tac Toe' challenge

Good Morning My Lovelies,

All ready for another week?? It will be August tomorrow!! I have to say it but I guess we do need to start thinking about our Christmas cards, so I will be planning a few Challenges with Christmas cards in mind, I hope you are all ok with that, you may even thank me when you get to Mid November and realise that you have half of your cards done!!

I enjoyed the last 'Tic Tac Toe' or 'Noughts and Crosses' as we call it, so much that I couldn't wait to do another . This time however, I am going to suggest we play be the rules of the Challenge, which are........

Pick any three categories that follow a line, so than be across, up,/down or diagonal.
Exactly as when playing the game in that you have to cover a line in any direction.
So for instance I went straight across the Middle, so my categories were:

Thank you, Patterned paper and Any shade of green.

You just have to use the categories that fit with what you have in your crafty stash!

I chose this particular Challenge because the colours are all colours we have in our stash, we all have patterned paper and Embossing Folders too so there is something for everyone!!
The thing I would like from you most is for you to have fun and enjoy doing it, I can't wait to see the results.

We are going to get a few odd bits sorted for holiday in Witney, we need to exchange our empty gas bottle, pick up some spare bulbs for our car,  on that note I have a word of warning, we send to Halfords a few years back and bought light bulb kits for our car, (specifically to our particular model checked against out liscence plate and back the our 'VIN number) so there were no mistakes, well when we got stopped by the police a few weeks back because our brake light had gone we explained to the Officer that we had a full kit of bulbs that I took out and showed, he then asked us to change it asap, so we went to a car park and got the bulb kit out, Paul removed One of the lights and I passed the replacement Paul quickly noticed that the bulb kit we had bought was full of bulbs that didn't fit our car, not one of them.  We ended having to order a complete replacement set for our car, for piece of mind, also they are a legal requirement whilst driving through France.   So if you also bought a Halfords spare Bulbs for your vehicle, checking over to make sure they fit!!

I will love you and leave you for now,

Sending gentle hugs to those in pain,

Huge suidgy ones to everyone else,

Love and hugs,

Sandra

Your Challenge Cards

Good Morning Ladies,
Here we are again on my favourite day of the week, seeing how you all interpreted the Sketch. We say it every week but it always amazes me how all of the cards are so different.
So here we go.......
Karen

Karen another fantastic card from you, I just love both the Deer and the forest background, it's nice to see such a fresh colour scheme for Christmas cards too!
Here is Karen's description:

My card is a Serif background - obviously! (I'm a bit gutted actually I found out yesterday that DaisyTrail - the company that sells digikits are to be no more after 31st July)
Mixture of dies
Sue W triple Merry Christmas
SW ribbon strip
Spellbinder Lacy Accents border and snowflakes
Freebie "deer" die
Thank You Karen for taking part
XXX

Val

Val has managed three cards this week, which is fantastic. She has started the huge task of making Christmas cards for the shop, most of us complain about making 50 cards, Val makes 100's !! Your three Challenge cards are amazing Val, all completely different too, the 1st has such a cute image upon a pretty embossed background, with that Curved border makes the card stand out even more.
The 2nd card has a gorgeous snowflake as it's focal point, the background paper is really pretty with snowflake detail, the snowflakes are finished with pretty pearls.
The 3rd card is my favourite I think, I love anything with pinecones and fir branches, have you stamped the background paper Val??, I absolutely love it !!
Thank you so much for taking part Val.
XXX

Maria

Maria, Oh I love your card this week, everything about it works beautifully, the embossed background is stunning, have you sanded it? It looks distressed to me, I love it!  Topped with that incredible Gold die cut Doilly it just works so well, the tiny gold detail you have added to the corners and the pretty gold flower finish your card perfectly! Absolutely amazing Maria, thank you so much.
XXX

Janet

Janet another fantastic Challenge card from you, that Embossed background is amazing, Crafters Companion??? The pretty square die cut is the perfect base for your lovely case of flowers.  A lovely Sue Wilson border finished with the butterfly printed ribbon bow is the perfect finishing touch, thank you so much .
XXX

Margaret

Oh Margaret a stunning Stampin'Up card for the challenge this week, I am so grateful you managed to make one despite feeling poorly.
You have used all of your new SU goodies for your card, Fresh Florals DsP in Tranquil Tide, backed with the same colour card, Flower Shop stamp for you centre piece, which you have placed on the fantastic Label die cut, you have used 'Vertical Greetings' for your sentiments.  Stunning card Margaret, thank you so much.
XXX

Michele

Michele made two Challenge cards this week, the first card Michele made using up bits of card, love the colours you have used, the topper is one you bought from China but you would never believe it was a cheap die, I also have to mention that amazing embossing folder, it looks like crumpled paper to me!
The second card, although you would never guess is also made from scraps of card, the topper is Warren Rabbit, on a lovely green background, the background paper is so pretty too, such an adorable Christmas card Michele, thank you so much!
XXX

Lynda has made two Challenge cards too, more surprising is that she HASN'T used the Northern Lights paper pad! Hahaha! The first card has been made using the new pad that Lynda bought from the Works last week, the lattice die cut is from a Tonic die, Lynda topped this with a Sue Wilson Poinsettia.
The second card Lynda made with Paper from her stash and a Spellbinder Christmas tree die.  Two fantastic cards lynda, thank you so much for taking part!
XXX

See....? I told you, you are all amazing, so many fantastic cards again this week!  Janet I have ordered some more boards to display all of these cards on, as I can see you just don't like taking the old ones down! 😉

Thank you all so much once again, today you will find me in my craft Room with my thinking cap upon my head, trying to choose tomorrow's challenge!

Enjoy whatever you are up to today my lovelies, I hope that those of you feeling under the weather are starting to feel stronger. Huge hugs on their way!

Love and hugs to all

Michele's Magazine Review

Mixed Craft Saturday
Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that you haven't been washed away by the torrential rain, we had hours of it yesterday, it was hammering down, the drains don't seem to be able to cope these days, mind you we don't see road sweepers anymore, so the gutters are full of leaves and rubbish. Which is part of the reason we have so many areas of flooding locally, luckily people's homes weren't affected this time but the water just sits for days!

I have some lovely things to share with you today, Cheryl's Candles and a stunning card, a gorgeous card from Janet, Michele's Magazine Review and last but not least Val's shopping.

So here we go........
Cheryl

Cheryl's fantastic Candle/Cone centre pieces

Cheryl hand makes these stunning Candle and Pinecone table centerpieces, she uses good quality candles, some magnificent pine cones that themselves give off an amazing fresh aroma.  Lots of decorative pieces added too, including miniature baubles, little ribbon trimmed parcels, foliage and festive sprigs too!  So much goes into making each one of these gorgeous pieces, Cheryl does it all to raise money for the incredible charity ......

Cardiomyopathy is a charity very dear to Cheryl's heart and she works tirelessly all through the year, every year to raise money for this very worthwhile cause.
Cheryl you do an amazing job making so many different craft items to sell, if there is anything that any of us can do please feel free to ask through the blog.

Cheryl's stunning Anniversary card

Wrapped in beautiful Voile

The Stunning finishing touch, a gorgeous Box

Cheryl this Anniversary card that you have made for her friend Glynis for thier Golden Wedding Anniversary, I have to say Cheryl this is one of your most beautiful cards, that floral corner arrangement is exquisite, wrapping it in luxurious Voile adds to the overall experience of opening such a beautiful gift.
To finish the gift Cheryl has made a Box and replicated the floral spray from the card and personalised the box as the finishing touch.  I imagine when your friends see this you will be inundated with requests!!
Thank you so much for sharing your crafts with all of us.
XXX

Janet

Janet's card is absolutely stunning, so luxurious too, everything about it shouts quality, from the gorgeous Embossing Folder that Janet has used to emboss that beautiful gold card, to which Janet added a pretty arrangement of roses and leaves,
The card is finished with delicate lace trim and tiny pearls. Oh Janet what a stunning card, thank you for sharing it with us today .

Michele's Magazine Review

End of the month Magazine Review.

Making Cards magazine with free Alphabet stamps plus papers-this month they have a Tropical theme. Nice ideas for car themed male cards in this issue but there's only 3 cards shown which is a shame as they could have made much more of a feature with this article.

Quick Cards Made Easy-free gift is an embossing folder & stamp set. Russian Dolls must be the "in thing" as there's a 4 page feature showing cards made using Stamps. I might adapt some of these ideas using the free gifts from last month .

Look who made it into the magazine.....!!! I'm really pleased as I've tried a few times. Pity they didn't spell my name correctly . I'm hoping to have another card featured in an Autumn edition.

Papercraft Inspirations with a lovely set of Altenew stamps(I think that's the brand). There's an article on shaped cards inside this issue plus a great step by step guide to Partial Diecutting.

Papercraft Essentials with a floral corner Die & stamp set. There's a feature on Men's card inside this issue plus two articles using the free gifts.

There you have the latest round up of my magazines. I get quite a few via subscription which have been presents (birthday or Christmas) so I'm not buying all of them myself.

Michele

M

Val

Val has bought her first Dies from China, I have those Stars Val and they cut brilliantly, I was surprised at the quality to be honest.
The Crafters Companion Embossing Folder looks lovely Val, I am excited to see your Christmas cards appearing on the blog, thanks so much for sharing your shopping with all of us and for your lovely email .

Margaret

Margaret ordered herself some new Stampin'Up! Goodies to play with, you made some fantastic choices Margaret:

Flowers Shop Stamp Set with Matching Punch, this set makes some amazing flowers and having the punch means you can craft anywhere, as you can pop the punch and stamps in your bag, no heavy die cutting machine required.

The Vertical Greetings stamp set, well you all know that's my new favourite stamp set, you just don't see enough Vertical Greetings on the market, Margaret has used this sent on her CC this week too!!

Card selection pack, so useless to match with DSP, :(pretty papers), Grey and Blue are the new black I think, I love them both.

Label Me Pretty stamp set, (did you get the matching Punch Margaret:?) I thought this set would be perfect for you with all the cakes you take for different people, I love that Floral Happy Birthday too.

Label Framelits, I would be lost without mine, I use them all the time, you can chop the bottom off and make a tag, as well as that lovely label shape, they have been made to work with most of the Stampin'Up! Stamp sets, which makes them even more useful.
Last but not least is the amazing Envelope Punch Board, you didn't need me to tell you how fantastic this tool is as Sue played with if herself and was amazed at how easy it was, you won't regret buying it Margaret.

What a fantastic shopping basket, you have the tools to make some stunning cards.
Thank you so much for sharing Margaret.  Hope you are feeling better.

Another post full of inspiration, I love seeing what you have all been making and buying so keep the photos coming in!!

Have a lovely weekend ladies,

Lilian, get well soon my lovely XXX

Good Morning Ladies,
Here comes the weekend again!! My goodness they seem to be whizzing past
at the moment.  We go on holiday in a couple of weeks and it doesn't seem 5 minutes since we were saying only 8 weeks until holiday. The girls are working again today so a nice peaceful day for Paul and I, they are trying to get as many shifts in as they can as they will be having 3 weeks off for our holiday, luckily their employers are ok with it, mind you at their age they are limited to the hours they can work anyway if they are still in education.  They spent yesterday doing Spanish homework, they have tons to do including reading a full Spanish Novel, I guess that's their holiday reading sorted, I was sat at the table beside them today while they were completing an online exam, the lady was talking in Spanish asking questions and they had to choose the correct answer, well she spoke so fast I couldn't get a word, the girls did ok though, I really want to learn Spanish properly.

Today's card is another using the 'Definitely Dahlia' stamp to create the background
and the main image too, I added the SU 'Happy Birthday' die cut and three black pearls to finish the 'topper'.  To finish the card I did a couple of wraps of narrow white ribbon, some pearl swirls, die cut flowers and a bow.
Something a little bigger than I have been doing lately but I think I like it!!

Pat, I was so happy to hear from you last night, it's great news that they found nothing untoward in your oesophagus, although you didn't get a diagnosis.  I do wonder if you have something like Asthma as I watched a TV documentary programme where a lady had the very same symptoms as you, the gave her a Blue inhaler for night time and referred her to a specialist, glad they are sorting your hand too!! Have a lovely time and Dave and Sue's xxxx

Lilian I hope you are ok my lovely, missing you xxxx

Karen, sending love and hugs to you today 🤗❤xxx

Sonia, I hope you are ok too, have you got a holiday planned?? Xxx

I have to get cracking on the huge pile of cards I need to make so I will be tying myself to my chair in my craft room today, I find it so hard to stay focused when Paul's home, we seem to have a lot of 'tea breaks', but I'm not complaining !!

Love and hugs to all of you

Clean and Simple Birthday

Good Morning Ladies,

It was so lovely spending the day with both of my dear friends yesterday, the first moment I thought about time was when Pat said "Omg it's ten to five"!! That pretty much sums up our day, Pat treated us to lunch which Paul prepared perfectly, we then got down to some serious crafting, all doing completely different things.  Pat has very kindly left me her Gemini to play with while she is away for a few days, YAY!! (Although I don't think I will ever get used to the complicated plate combinations, it's less of a 'sandwich' more a 'smorgasbord') !!

Today's card is a real 'Clean and Simple' card, very quick and easy too, I almost feel a fraud posting it, but somehow it works and I love it, I think it's down to that stunning  'Definitely Dahlia' stamp, it's just such an awesome stamp, I have to force myself to not pick it up!
Definitely Dahlia Stamp

If any of you would like one just let me know I will add it to this current order.  It's been an exciting week this week as Stampin'Up! Have been doing little sneak peeks of the upcoming Autumn Winter Catalogue, ooh there are lots of metallics, not all Christmas either, eeek, I can't wait to see the actual catalogue!!

Back to the holiday prep today, Brenda you had it spot on when you said that it makes the excitement of the holiday start earlier, it does take huge amounts of preparation and how Paul manages to shoe horn everything plus the kitchen sink into that car, roof box and trailer never ceases to amaze me!! I have to hide my smile though as almost every year he gives a deadline for having your bags in the lounge ready to pack in the car, just about every year just as he thinks he has finished one of the girls will come out with a bag of toiletries or hair dryers/straightners, they just look sheepish and give a little 'oops'!! He always manages to fit it in somewhere, it's like a huge jigsaw puzzle, we just hold out breath every time we have to go through customs, we did get stopped once, the guy just looked it the back of the car, shook his head and said 'Just don't worry' and waved us on, I think the thought of unpacking that lit was clearly off putting!!
I have a list of lists that cover 'To Do', 'To Buy', 'To pack' and a few more, I'm the Queen of lists I'm afraid!

Pat I hope your procedure goes smoothly today, I will be thinking of you my lovely XXX

Maria so sorry to hear your appointment was a waste of time, it's so frustrating.  How was your SU party?? Hope you had a good time XXX

Sending love and hugs

Vertical Thank you

Good Morning Ladies,

Ooh I'm more than a little excited today as I get to see Pat and Sue on the same day, the three Graces are back together!!!

Today's card is a little more subtle than yesterday's card, I have been itching to play with this new stamp set for almost a week but just haven't had time. It's called 'Vertical Greetings' I bought it purely for the greetings as you don't often see the printed vertically but the trees that are in the set are fab too !!

Vertical Greetings

I covered my base card with 'Tranquil Tide' designer paper, I then embossed a piece of white card with the 'Garden Trellis' Embossing Folder, then added the Ribbon Punched Border to the edge of my embossed piece, I Placed this on top of the base layer, I stamped the triple tree stamp with 'Tranquil Tide' ink and matted it into a piece of card the same colour, I then did the same with the sentiment.
I die cut a little flower to top my bow and added a 'Tranquil Tide' tassel for a little movement.  I added tiny diamante to the centre of each tree to finish.
I hope you like today's card.

Brenda, I hope you enjoy your Holiday home for the next few days, you won't know what to do with yourself when they leave for their holiday.  I will be putting in one last order before I go away, I need the punch for the Pansy stamp I bought and I am very close to acheiving the next level of promotion, I am so excited !!

Janet the weather doesn't look like it's going to improve anytime soon, it's so frustrating, I swear I read that this summer was going to be the hottest on record with wall to wall sunshine!!
But I think I read that every year, I'm sure it's the tourist board that writes these weather forecasts! Haha, I did say to Paul on Saturday while it was absolutely bucketing down "you have to feel sorry for anyone pitching a tent in this rain' it would be a miserable start to your holiday.  We have done it so I know exactly how miserable it is, it also ends up being so expensive, we had 4 children to entertain and they didn't want to sit in a tent all day, so we ended up going to various tourist attractions, it cost us more in one week to entertain our children than it does to pitch our tent on the site in the beach in Spain for 3 weeks! I love our country, we have tried 4 times to holiday in Cornwall and Devon and every time it was a wash out!  It it something I look forward to doing with Paul when it's just the two of us to please.

Tracy did you find your shoes and did Janice get her dress??? I look forward a photo of you in all your finery!!
You have my sympathy, heels and my legs don't mix, nothing more uncomfortable, intact I think we are in good company there aren't many of our blog family that totter around in heels.
I hope you have a lovely time XXX

Michele I was so pleased to read that your Dad has got his companion back, I bet he was pleased to see him, I know Mum's dog really keeps her going, she moans about him the whole time but I think she'd miss him if her wasn't there. XXX

Well I'm off back the the craft room, so many cards to make to cover the posts while I'm away, I wish I could churn out 10 a day, sadly I'm usually a one card a day kind of girl, two hours choosing what to use, another two on a layout and then one to make it up, add in to that the three hours you loose in Pinterest, before you know it craft day is over!!

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra

Daisy Delight

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that you are all well and that those of you that are battling different challenges, gentle, healing hugs are on the way to you.

Today's card is another version of this week's Sketch Challenge.  I decided to use the Daisy Delight Designer series paper that I have been saving, just to stroke and admire of course!  However it's to nice  not to share with all if you, I actually remember that Paul and I had matching curtains, quilt cover and wallpaper border in a very similar pattern to this, it was more of a denim blue though, do this still  match bedding and wallpaper border?  Oh there was a lampshade too!  It was back in the late  80's though!
Anyway back to the card, I matted and layered some Night of Navy and white  card as a base for the DSP, I glued that down too then stamped the Daisy Delight Stamp 6 times (2 for each daisy). I punched then out, shaped them and added a Faceted Gem to the centre of each Daisy. I created a topped with more white and Night of Navy card and then placed 3 daisies onto the topper, adding some foliage to finish.
I then made a decorative border with the Ribbon Border Punch and finished it with some narrow white ribbon.
I tied a bow and made a tiny daisy with a flower centre from another die set, topped it with a glimmer dot. I popped this onto my bow.   I stamped a 'Thank You" in Night of Navy ink and added to my border.

Pat, I hope that your day at the hospital isn't too long today, it was great to read that Pete had a lovely day yesterday, it will help keep his mind off other things XXX

I hope you all have a good day, I think we are doing some preparation for holiday today.

Love and hugs to all of you

Sandra

Monday Sketch Challenge

My Challenge Card

The Sketch

Good Morning Ladies,

I thought we would go back to having a nice easy to follow Sketch for the challenge this week.  I quite liked the look of this one, Michele thought it would be good for Christmas cards too.
You can choose whatever theme you like, I've gone for a 'just for you ' card this time as it can be sent for many reasons from 'thanks' to 'thinking of you'!

For my card I used Stampin'Up! 'Eastern Palace' suite and 'So Saffron' card and ink.
I created the 'flower' with the 'Eastern Medallion' Thinlits' which I stamped with 'So Saffron' ink.  The border at the bottom was created with a piece of 'So Saffron' card to which I added two pieces of 'Whisper White' card that I has punched the new Stampin'Up Ribbon Border Punch, I finished it this a piece of white ribbon and a bow.  I added a 'Just For You' sentiment with a stamp from. 'Teeny Tiny Sentiments'.
The centre of the flower is finished with a Stampin Up Faceted Gem stone.

I am going to make a little confession here, up until this last month I had refused to buy Stampin'Up! 'Whisper White' card, I kept saying that I had loads of my own white card and paper why would I need to buy any more!
That was until the Craft Weekend we went on where I got to use 'Whisper White' in each of the projects we did, OMG what an epiphany !! It is the smoothest, silkiest feeling stamping card I have ever stroked!  and believe me I have stroked a lot over the years, it stamps like a dream, so now I am truly converted!

I look forward to seeing all of your Challenge cards trickling in over the week.

Have a lovely day ladies,

Love and hugs

Your Amazing Challenge cards

The Challenge

Lilian went for 'That' embossing folder, (the most sought after on the internet)!
For her card this week, choosing the categories
Embossing, Embellishment & Yellow
Such a bright, cheerful card that would brighten anyone's day.
Thank you so much Lilian
XXX

 Brenda

Brenda chose the categories : Embossing, Grey & Die Cut,
Using a Crafters Companion 3D Embossing Folder, oh my goodness it looks
Like Guipure Lace, I absolutely love the effect, you really need nothing else
Other than a sentiment and embellishment, which is exactly what Brenda
Has added, I have to say that little touch of pink works so well with the Grey,
I think it will become one of my new favourite colours!
Thank you so much Brenda for rushing to get a card made.
XXX

Val

Val chose the categories: Grey, Embossing and Die cut, creating a pretty embossed background, I love how you have added that little touch of decorative paper that picks up the grey perfectly, the butterfly finishes the card perfectly!
Thank you so much Val
XXX

Janet has become a stamping queen over this past 6 months, I'm not sure
If it was getting the 'Faux Misti' that got you started but I distinctly remember
You saying 'I'm not really a stamper', now like me, most of your cards
have Stamping on them, it brings a huge smile to my face, it shows
that it's not just the newer paper Crafters like Margaret that have
grown in the number of different 'mediums' we use to create
cards, we are all learning together.
Your card is fantastic Janet, the sentiment is very true too!
Ooh almost forgot....
Janet chose : Grey, Masculine & Yellow!
Thanks Janet
XXX

Karen has made two cards for this challenge, choosing the categories:
Grey, Yellow & Birthday (card 1)
Hexagon, Embellishment & Die cut (card 2)
Here is Karen's description:
New Birth - all with Sue W dies and a printed sentiment, all mounted onto foam tape. I created the card blank using dies and mounted the shadow box onto cream to give a little bit of contrast between the white elements. I may change the sentiment to "It's a ..." once gender is known! This is the first card I have made with yellow and grey - I love it!
birthday/gray/yellow

On the second one I have used a free Serif kit - Envelopes 2012. I made the card blank by resizing a hexagon and welded together with a third hexagon to cover the "join" on ScaNCut, decoupaged the bowler hat and moustache My embellishment is a die cut Sue W bow set plus a pearl!
hexagon/die cut/embellishment
I love both of these cards Karen, the Grey and yellow baby card is perfect for when you
Don't know what flavour baby us expected! (Not that many have the patience to wait these days)!
Thank you so much for taking part.
