Diamond Easel Card & Next Week's Challenge

Good Friday Morning Ladies,

Here we are at the end of another week, I have heard several times over the past couple of days that there are 76 days until Christmas!!!  Now that is frightening don't you think, I wonder how long it will be before we see people's houses decorated, that seems to start earlier every year, we are a bit 'bah humbug' when it comes to putting up decorations, it won't take place until at least the second week of December!

'Next Week's Challenge !

I thought that we would have a go at some 'Fun Folds' for our Challenge, it can literally be any fold you like other than the everyday side opening card that we use as our default card base.

For my card I chose to make a Diamond Easel Card, which was actually quite simple, I took a 6 X 12 inch  piece of card and scored along the long (12in) side and 3 & 6 inch, I then turned my card to the short (6in) and make a mark at 3inch point.  I folded the card along the 6 inch score line which gives us a 6x6 card base, I took this to my trimmer and cut from that 3inch mark to the first score line, you do this for both front and back of your card. I cut my mats and layers to 1/4 inch less than the card base.
I usee the Paper Boutique 'Butterfly Ballet' card making kit for decorate my card, I embellished the card with flowers made with the Heartfelt Creations Oakberry Lane Flower dies and I shaped them in the matching shaping mold.
I hope that you enjoy this Challenge, as always I have tried to pick a Challenge that will work for all occasions, so that you can make the cards on your 'to do' lists and incorporate the challenge at the same time.
I look forward to seeing your cards.

What do you all have planned for the weekend??  We haven't got too much on the Agenda, our local Pub closed back in July, the previous owner had been running the Red Lion for 16 years, it was 'ok' but seemed like they had lost the passion, the food was not great either, with there being nothing else in the village at all I would have thought that it would be a real busy place, but on the odd occasion that we had been in it was dead and you felt like you were inconveniencing the staff by asking for a drink.  Well it has been taken over by new owners, a younger couple that have involved the local people in the major refurbishment that they have spent 3 months doing, they have literally gutted the place and started from scratch, the 'Old Red Lion' has been replaced by a White Lion wearing a Monocle and a Top Hat, all very modern and trendy!
Anyway they have their Grand Opening on Saturday evening, so I think we are going to pop in and have a little look at what they have done and see what their new menu will be, as it would be lovely to have somewhere nice to eat that we could go to without having to drive, I will let you know what it was like.

I hope that you all have a lovely weekend too,

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra

  1. Morning Ladies

Sandra-gorgeous Card & a great challenge for us next week.

Hubby’s birthday is 30th November so we don’t think about Christmas decorations until after his birthday.

Went out for a pub meal last night which was lovely but came home early as I was feeling dreadful-full of cold so Not great company! Feeling a bit better this morning but nothing planned for today so I might venture into my craft room.

  4. Hi Sandra & Ladies
Thank you Sandra for showing my card yesterday. Thank to everyone who liked it as well. By the time I realised I hadn’t posted yesterday it was to late to post.
I had a lovely class yesterday with Ronk Langton whose on the Clarity design team.i did quite a bit of picot pricking. Wasn’t until I took it out earlier on that I realised I’d pricked it on the wrong side instead of the front. To much of it to cover it up. I hope everyone is feeling better today who is feeling under the weather, I hope your feeling much better today Sandra. Let’s hope the pub has been refurbished nicely and the food menu is ok. Let’s hope the residents frequent it.

  5. Hi ladies,
interesting challenge for next week Sandra, will have a go but no promises. Your card is lovely tho.
Hope your back feel better and the Pub will be a success .
Karen- hope your appointment went well.
Pat- it must be such a joy to have Groovi as a hobby, your cards are all gorgeous and I'm sure even if pricked on the wrong side it looks beautiful.
Michele- hope your cold is getting better so you can have a nice weekend.
Janet- journey to Marigny sounded awful, hope the weather is better this weekend. When we left for Heathrow 4am Sunday morning it was pitch black on the road from MK and it was pelting down so OH was happy when we got there.
Have not done much today other then a little shop at Lidl. My legs are still sore so best rest a few days before venturing out again for a walk. I hate being stuck but nothing to do .
Lynda- you looking forward now to your holiday ? not many more days to go.
Sending my daily hugs to you all and hoping you have a good evening and night. Maria xx

  6. Hi All, late again. What terrible weather rain all day and really chilly. Heating on early, usually try not to put it on this early.

Sandra your card is lovely, good challenge although I’m not much good with fancy folds.

Don’t know if it’s the weather, but my joints have been really bad.

Hugs to all, see you tomorrow. Lilian
