My Mixed Media Page for this weeks challenge

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope you all are managing to keep cool in this heat, I didn't venture outside most of the day, my heart doesn’t fare well in the extreme heat, only because your body has to work harder to move around in the higher temperature.  So I had a relaxing day in my craft room, with the fan on too keep us cool,  the only time it was a problem was when I used Gilding flakes and Embossing powder!

Today's Journal page was the result of my play session yesterday.  I started the page off my smooshing Victorian Velvet Distress Ink into my craft mat and picked it up with a cello bag and smooshed it onto my page.  I then stamped some background stamps around the page, for texture I added some texture passste and when it was dry i added some Gilding flakes here and there, just for sparkle. I then started on the tag, the main image is a stamp by Sam Poole,  I stamped the butterfly twice and watercoloured the top one using the Victorian Velvet distress ink and a waterbrush. I added a swoosh of Sparkle pen over the top. I wanted to add so 'softness' so I added the butterfly lace trim and some pearl string down one side of the tag.  I created a separate little tag using a stamp from the same Sam Poole stamp set,  I cut the definition out of a dictionary and tore the edges so that it blended into the tag better.                                 I'm quite pleased with how it turned out, I hope it inspires you a little.

I hope that you all have a comfortable day,  take it easy my lovelies,

Love and hugs to all,

Sandra xxx

  1. Morning Everyone
    Love today's Challenge page SANDRA.

I have a busy day ahead. IT'S my k&N day and it's my turn to 'take and make'. So it will be a panic morning making sure that I have packed enough kits for everyone/remembered to pack my sample card/packed my usual crafting bits and pieces/and finally packed the refreshments (tea bags/milk/and the most important items buns). I'm shattered before I get to this afternoon and down to the library.

The CAFE is OPEN with loads of cool drinks and ices etc so help yourselves. HUGS are on their way to you all with loads of extras for Dear Friends not feeling too well. Please take care and stay safe.xxxx

  3. Hi Sandra and all in the Cafe today. Fantastic card from Karen yesterday. I love the butterfly, the colours are amazing and using the black fine liner changes the card instantly doesn’t it. That will be going on my “things to try list”. Thank you for sharing it Karen xx
Sandra, your page is gorgeous, so delicate and with loads to look at, I keep on seeing something different every time I look at it. You also show how mixed media can still be so pretty so thank you for the inspiration my lovely xx
You can’t do much in the garden when it’s so hot so now you can both sit back and enjoy looking around at everything you have done in the garden xx
Brenda, I’m glad you are starting to feel a little better. Sorry the cough is still bad though. How lovely to have a puppy in the family and sweet to let the young ones to choose her name xx
Maria, it’s good C and his girlfriend have got jobs at the local IKEA. Will they get staff discount? That would be perfect for you to get some furniture for your craft room wouldn’t it😄 xx
Our grass needs a cut but there is no way Chris will be doing it until the temperature goes down. He really doesn’t like the temperature once it goes over 20/22 degrees so is not a happy bunny at the moment!
I must admit I only went out to put washing on the line late afternoon. It was all dry by 9pm except our bathrobes which just needed a bit longer so after hanging them up overnight it is all done. Now to do the ironing!!! Do you iron early in the day or later in the evening iron? I think early is better but it’s always a “jump in the shower afterwards” job”. Keep drinking plenty of water or whatever. Sending love and hugs to you all. Take care xx

  4. Hi everyone
I love everything about your journal page, it’s beautiful 😍
I’m still yet to start anything, just when I thought I’d be able to sit and play, someone asks me to make 2 birthday cards for them, so I need to get those done first.
It’s very muggy here today with lots of cloud. I’m not looking forward to the very high temperatures that are forecast for the weekend. I hope you’re all coping with the heat xx
Have a good rest of the day.
Sending hugs to you all xxx

  6. Hello Sandra and ladies, love your journal page Sandra, you really are very gifted being able to create this beautiful page. Thank you for your inspiration.
Today seemed a little cooler and tomorrow should be a few degrees cooler still, which is fine by me, I have to go for a blood test in the morning so hopefully will be home before it gets to hot.
Hope you are all keeping safe and well, take care.
Sending hugs for everyone Brenda xxx

  7. Hello ,sorry to late again, the heat has been really oppressive today, with cloud until late afternoon.

I had a text message supposed to be from the nhs, telling me I have to send for a pcr test kit because I had been in contact with an infected person, had to pay .99 postage, for which they wanted my credit card details. I thought it seemed wrong, as they said it was mandatory, I contacted helpline and they said they didn’t use text for asking people to take a test, so I gather it was a scam.

Sandra love your page, lovely colours and textures, love the use of the butterfly.

I’ll say goodnight as it’s late. Lilian
