Mixed Up Saturday

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

We are home, we had a horrendous journey back, we following a massive rainstorm most of the way home, from Paris onwards, it was so heavy that the wipers were going full tilt and still weren't clearing the screen, you couldn't see the lane markings on the road either, it makes the journey so much more exhausting because you are over concentrating and tense!  The first hour of our journey home was dry but the M25 was horrendous,  it was same as Paris, torrential rain that was pooling on the motorway so you couldn't see the lane markings, and by then it was dark, the M25 came to a halt so we switched to M4 as soon as we could. We got home around 9pm, so in total was on the road 10 hrs!  So Paul has earned a lay in today I think.

When I got home there was Magazine waiting so I have done a review for you.

Creative Stamping Magazine

Issue 112

The Autumnal stamps in this Issue of Creative Stamping magazine are really nice, I especially love the Crafty Individuals Tree and Deer stamp are especially lovely.

This first feature showcases some lovely Animal themed cards, how cute is that squirrel?!.  The deer and robin stamps are lovely too. Some lovely cards here.

Monochrome printing is the Technique used for these amazing cards,  Teresa has used Watercolour Emboss Resist, Bokeh Stamping and Masked off Blended ink backgrounds, using the free stamps as the main focus of the cards.  Some lovely inspirational ideas.

These cards look similar to that Stampin Up paper in Navy and white I used a week or so back, these beautiful effects have been created with Water and water reactive inks.   The effect is created by stamping in clear ink on white card, then blending distress ink over the embossing,  you then use water and a paint brush to fill in the stamping, the final step is to blot the ink off with paper towel, it looks so effective.  I will definitely be having a go at this technique.

How beautiful are these poppy cards?!  Three very different cards suitable for any occasion.

These cards all have a feature that makes them stand out, the have a piece of 'Papercasting ' the first card has Papercast leaves, they look amazing,  they use something we all have on hand.... toilet roll!!  I have used this technique following a Tracy Evans Workshop,  its really effective.  Its a grear way to add texture to a card.

Some lovely Clean & simple cards here, using a range of techniques, Alcohol lift technique,  creating a wreath and a lovely Autumnal Aperture card.  How lovely is that Fox card. ?

Some stunning Masculine cards here, using Heat Embossing,  ink smooshed backgrounds with added shimmer powder for an extra touch of luxury.

Some lovely projects in this issue, all made with those lovely free stamps.

*************

I hope that you all have a good week-end, ours will be spent unpacking and getting back to normal life.

Sending my love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra

  3. Hi everyone
Beautiful card. Thanks also for the magazine review. I like this one but also like this months die cutting mag. so not sure which one I get.
No card making from me at the moment. I have decided to take a break from it except for getting a card together for my mum's 80th. I need some time to sort my stuff out and in the meantime I'm doing some crystal art instead. Does not mean I stopped card making, just a bit of time making something else.
Horrible weather to travel home in for you, so glad you back safe. OH had similar journey home from London in the week. He hates driving when it's gone dark and the torrential rain did not help.
Janet, are you still in Marigny another week ?
Karen, have fun if going playing bowls.
Sonia, congrats to your man to have another LP out.
    Brenda, hoping you are alright.
Have a nice Saturday everyone. Many hugs to you all,xx

  4. Hi Sandra and all in the Cafe today. What a shame you had such a horrid journey home. But at least you can both relax now and just slowly unpack.
Thank you for the review. There are some lovely cards aren’t there. I would like to try some of them. Maybe we could do some when we can meet up? Can’t wait to see you but who knows how long it will take to get a negative result?
Sending love to you all. Take care xx
