My First Rose Challenge card

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope today finds you all well, extra hugs 🤗 on route to those who need one ❤
We had a right mixed bag of weather yesterday,  beautiful warm sunshine one minute, torrential rain the next, no complaints though, it meant that garden didn't need watering,  we didn't get the Storms we were forecast.

Today's card is one using the Beautiful Brushstrokes dies that Brenda, Lynda & Lilian recently bought from Stampin up!  I saw this card on Pinterest it was designed by a chap called Martin's Mayhem.  I totally loved the card and wanted to recreate it.
I made a card base using Night of Navy card, then used a slightly smaller matt of Night of Navy to create the topper of the card,  I used the smallest rose stamp to randomly stamp Night of Navy ink over the base piece (Martyn just inked around his) I prefer to see a pattern, I then used a Posca pen to add some white splatters, the next step was to die cut all layers of the flowers and adhered them together,  I arranged them around the card base, leaving some overhanging,  which i then trimmed flush to the topper edge.  The colours I used are Flirty Flamingo, Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzaz for the leaves.  I finished with a Happy Birthday sentiment,  no extra embellishments necessary in my  opinion, I added the topper section onto the card using foam pads for dimension.  I hope you like it Ladies xx

Sending Love and huge hugs to all,

Sandra

  1. Morning Everyone
    Love your Rose card SANDRA.

I hope Lucy is taking things easy and that she isn't in too much pain.

Well yesterday was one of those days that I didn't get too much done. I put in my Tesco order for delivery Friday; finished my CC for Sunday and before I knew it the day had gone and the other jobs I wanted to do were still waiting.

I'm hoping for a better day today. We'll see what happens.

The CAFE is OPEN and waiting for you all to pop in for a chat etc.

HUGS are winging their way to you all.PLEASE TAKE CARE AND STAY SAFE.xxxx

  2. Morning Ladies

Lovely card Sandra, great idea to use a dark colour for the background, makes the flowers stand out.

We had a very mixed day with the weather yesterday but ended up with sunshine and someone dropped something off after work so we were in the back garden, talking.

  4. Hi Sandra and all in the Cafe today.
What a pretty card. I wouldn’t have thought to put navy with the green and pink but it is a gorgeous colour combo. I’m sure Lucy’s thumb is still very painful and she is struggling to do some of the every day things that we take for granted. I hope you are catching up with some sleep my lovely xx
Karen, I forgot to come in yesterday but have to tell you how I love your card. The papers are so pretty. I hope your daughter and son in law enjoyed the match last night xx
I am with Chris, Gem and Bob ( brother in law) on our way to Longleat safari park as I write this. We usually go once or twice a year. It’s always a lovely day. I hope you all have a good day too. Sending love and hugs to you all with extras for all in need. Take care xx

  5. Hi Ladies
Some lovely cards over the last few days. We also had mixed weather yesterday. Off out to lunch with friends a bit later, and I’m seeing the chiropodist at 6l30. My she does work late. She had a week off last week and spent it with her sister. Who she hasn’t seen for well over a year.
Take care and stay safe everyone.

  6. Hi everyone
Very nice card Sandra, I too like the dark background for your roses.
I know we need rain for our gardens but it doesn't do anything for one to feel happy and in any mood for anything really. Thankfully I have a couple of cards to finish so should get me going for this afternoon.
I wish whatever you are up to today that you have a good one and aches and pain in any kind or form feels better.Hugs xx

  9. Hello Sandra and ladies,

Sandra a lovely card today giving us more inspiration, thank you. I would never have thought to use a dark background for theses roses, I have to admit it really works beautifully. You have certainly opened my eyes to extra possibilities. xx

I hope Lucy is coping with her injured thumb, i hope she isn’t to restricted and able to be independent. Just thinking of how she must have felt when it happened still makes my tummy cringe. Lucy I hope you are coping ok.

I’m going into the garden for an hour or so, I can just loose myself out there.

Take care everyone, hugs Brenda xxx
