Mixed Up Saturday featuring Michele's Magazine Review

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

So many lovely photo's of 'Winter Wonderlands' all over the UK yesterday, we didn't get any though sadly although it was cold enough, Lucy and I went food shopping and that cold wind literally made my face hurt, it really hits you when you are sat in a wheelchair, maybe because you aren't creating any body heat from walking around.  Good heavens the shops were so busy, our supermarket in on a retail park, up until now it has been quite quiet but as all of the clothes stores including Next, the restaurants too of course, there was hardly a space to be had. I was hoping to pick up some lights to go on the outside of the house, I have looked online but nothing in stock, there was nothing in the stores either so I am guessing that there will be loads and loads of outdoor decorations this year.  How many of you decorate outside?  We feel like we don't want to be the only ones in the village not to take part!

Sophie and Lucy are back to work today, the park opened this morning, it will be interesting to see how busy it is, Lucy said she was a little worried about mixing with so many other people, which I can understand, I just advised them both to be overly cautious, being careful to take every precaution possible.  Paul is going to return to work on Monday, he will be on lates which will be a stain on his eyes for the first few days, he is continuing with his lift in for another week or so, the surgery on his Right eye was two weeks yesterday so he still needs to be cautious, although he sight is excellent.

Onto today's crafts......

The first picture (above) is a Cartoon style portrait of Becca's Family, the images are taken from photos, Sophie has arranged them and added little Benji at the front, I think it's brilliant, they would make lovely Baubles for the Christmas tree!

Karen

Karen has created to more 'Cute Critters', these two along with the amazing Jelly Fish I shared with you last week were all made from one ball of Aldi Chunky Yarn, they come up twice as big with the chunky yarn too.  I must buy some yarn and have a play, I am looking forward to having something to do in the evenings as I get really bored just sitting watching tv.  I love your latest creations Karen, thank you so much for allowing me to share them with our friends. Michele's Magazine Review

Hi Ladies,

Papercraft Esstentials has a cute card making kit as the free gift this month.

Here’s some ideas of what’s inside the magazine.

This article shows some ideas of how you can use the free gift. Great for anyone who loves Cats & Dogs.

Great idea to make a calendar that is more like a piece of art. You could change the colours to suit the room or recipient.

Lovely floral cards, boxes & gift tags inspiration for Christmas using what stash we already have.

I think this is a lovely idea-not too heavy by using a cheap chalkboard and painting it.

Some great ideas here using patterned papers.

More ideas.

Inspiration on how to use Gilding Flakes-I’m
Sure we’ve all got some lurking at the back of the cupboard!!

I absolutely love the look of this technique. I’m sure it’s been featured recently in another magazine-still looks impressive.

This is a lovely project-would make a great gift or just to put on you craft table/desk.

I love these cards-they’re made using free downloads. If you’re interested then go to  papercraftmagazines.com and click on the download tab.

Just to share the bargain subscriptions available-I’ve treated myself to Papercraft Essentials (started with this issue) and Simply Cards & Papercraft which started with the December issue.

That’s all for this week so
Happy Crafting

Love Michele

Brilliant Magazine review Michele, I can see why you were tempted by this one, I think the free gift in this months issue would be perfect for Kezia, she loves dogs and cats so I think that she would love playing with all of those elements.  That Calendar idea is fantastic, you could use the paint swatches that you pick up in DIY stores, I think its really good as you can use a colour that matches your particular room.  I think that desk storage feature is great too.  So many new things to try.

Thank you so much Michele XXX

Ladies I hope that you all have a lovely weekend,

Love and Hugs to all of you, stay warm and safe my lovelies,

Sandra

  2. Morning Ladies

Sandra-Becas picture is great. How you manage to find some outdoor lights. There were lots in our Dobbies garden centre and B&Q-why not try them online?

Karen-two more wonderful crochet creatures, you’re very quick making them.

We went shopping yesterday-I ordered new glasses and hubby bought himself a turntable to comment to his computer to transfer his vinyl to the computer. He used his birthday money towards it.
We got all the Christmas decorations etc out of her loft after lunch so the tree is up and a few decorations. Les than normal which I’m glad about as I think It’s a bit early to put them up.
I was hoping to pop into the village early this morning but I’ve had a text to say a parcel is being delivered between 9-10:20 so I’ll have to wait.

Love the new family members of critter Karen, love the colour on the wool.
Thank you Michele for the magazine review.
Like the way Sophie has captured Rebecca and family, very nice.
Had a walk this evening and looked at the neighbours lights and it look so pretty but we haven't got anything other then a wreath on the front door with some lights I wrapped around. Felt a little better today so got Son to bring in the tree and boxes of bits and bobs. It took me a couple of hours to decorate it but now it's up and my Santa standing here in front of me and having a little chat with Chilly 😁
Hope you all had a nice day whatever you were up to. Many hugs to all, Maria xx

  8. Hello Sandra and ladies

Sorry - No we don’t decorate the outside of our house. I do put a few bits in the porch and a wreath on the inner door but that’s as far as I go! Some houses have so many lights outside they must be draining the national grid.

Love Sophie’s portrait of Becca’s family. I’m sure Becca and Adam love it too.

Thank you Michele for your magazine review, they are always so helpful. Karen your critters are brilliant, thank you for sharing, hope they go to a good home. xx

Enjoy your weekend everyone, love Brenda xxx
