More Metal stencil fun

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that today brings you st least one opportunity to smile.  I know that some of us struggle from day to day and there are definitely days that a smile doesn't even cross our minds, I have been trying to adopt the attitude that we should look for at least one thing to be grateful for, one thing that made me smile etc.  It occured to me after reading the books about the survivors of the Holocaust, if they can find something to be thankful for in a day after the horrendous pain and suffering they endured then maybe I should make the effort, I make a point of thinking of these things when I go to bed, just to see if it will help me sleep!

On to today's card, I had a few goes at getting this one right, I used my Sweet Poppy Fern stencil, I placed it over a piece of Very Vanilla card on top of the magnetic sheet that Sweet Poppy recommend, I decided to use Versamark ink and different metal embossing powders this time, getting the right amount of ink wasn't easy though, first attempt I didn't press hard enough, the next was too hard and the Versamark bled under the stencil, third time was lucky though, although I did have to replace the stencil a couple of times to add more ink where it hadn't gone through evenly.  I used a mixture of Copper, Silver and gold embossing powders, adding them one at a time and then decanting the excess back into the jar, so as not to cross contaminate the colours, I did end up with a small amount of the three colours mixed after adding extra where needed.  The final background piece wasn't perfect but I will just say that it's part of the design, it's distressed !!!!

I cut my background down and layered onto copper metallic card then onto Very Vanilla card base, to finish the card I die cut I fern frond in gold mirror card and the other I die cut then added the embossing powder mix that I had after finishing background, then I added extra sprinkles of the three colours of embossing powder and re-heated with heat tool, it was fascinating watching the powder heat up and almost 'shudder' as it absorbed the extra powders, this is a close up of the result....

To finish the card I stamped a sentiment and heat embossed and then die cut and layered sentiment onto the same copper metallic card as card background. I didn't want to add anything else as I wanted the background to shine!!  I hope you like the effect, I really enjoyed sitting and playing with the embossing powders!

Sending Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra                                                                                                                                                          xxxxxx

  1. Morning Everyone
Love today's card SANDRA. So simple in style but definitely a very classic result.

We had an extremely tiring day yesterday. Jim went to the Opticians for his annual check up. It took over two hours. I have never seen the place so busy. We were both shattered by the time we arrived home so after Mr Tesco has delivered this morning the rest of the day will be spent relaxing.

The Council are resurficing the roads at the momen and it's supposed to be our turn starting tomorrow morning. The road will be closed to all traffic from 07.00 - 19.00hrs for the next 10 days weather etc permitting. Monday-Friday.
I shall be fastened in and climbing the walls by the time it is finished..

HUGS to you all. Please take care and stay safe.xxxx

  2. Hi Sandra and all in the Cafe today. Sorry I didn’t say how beautiful I thought your embossing paste mandala card was yesterday. I love it and how the texture gives such a different look. Todays card is another stunner. What a great look. The effect on the triple coloured powders is great to add another look. Love it all. See you later on my lovely xx
I’m looking forward to spending time with you and with getting some crafting done. Ended up having a busy day clearing some cupboards upstairs again. Nearly finished now thank goodness. It will be worth the work when it’s all done, or at least that’s what I tell myself 😚 Sending hugs to you all. Take care xx

  3. Morning everyone
Love your card, all the shine and fun with using embossing powders. I'm struggling with getting it right at times so might have a play this afternoon.
Going out for a bit, have been indoors for so long and it looks nice outside with the sun shining.
Hope you be alright Janet with the road closed for such long time. How will you get the shopping or going out anywhere unless you go after 7pm ? Hopefully you got lots of crafting you can do but what about Jim, has he got a hobby ?
Lilian, hoping your leg is getting better, take care.
Brenda, hope you are doing okay. Extra hugs for you and John.
Karen, hope your sugar is getting better readings that it was in Bedford. Take care
Have a good day everyone. Many hugs to you all xx

  4. Lilian, have you tried heating your pastes up gently with your heat gun? I don’t remember who was talking about it but it can help with lots of dried out mediums. Keep gently heating and stirring and adding small amounts of water as it loosens. Might be worth a try before binning them if needed xx

Not been up to much today, did some work on the computer with John, he does not do ‘technology’ although he can tell me what to do!!!
The weather here has been good, I even managed to get the washing dry, I always find that very rewarding ….. I’m easily pleased.
Janet it sounds as if you and Jim will be prisoners in your own home while the road resurfacing goes on.
Hope everyone has had a good day, Hugs Brenda xxx
