Dragonfly Challenge Card

Good Morning Ladies,

Firstly I would like to thank all of you for the lovely comments on Michele's tutorial, I was so pleased to read that so many of you wanted to have a go at making one. I have started mine today.

I had to put all crafting to one side though to make sure all the paperwork was in order for arranging the interment of Mum's ashes, we are hoping to do it on her birthday later this month. My goodness they want to know everything from where she was born to what her occupation was!  I will feel relieved when we have her in her final resting place though and because we added Dad's details to the headstone it gives us a place to lay flowers and tributes to him too.  We scattered Dad's ashes in the sea at his favourite place to be, which at the time we had all agreed was the best thing to do, including Mum but later we felt that there was nothing that actually states his passing, no place to place any tribute as sadly the beach where we all played every year as children and Mum and Dad returned to every year until Dad died has been washed away, it's heart breaking to see as it held so many happy memories. So I suggested adding that Mum was 'together again' with Dad and then we added his date of birth and death.

I was inspired by a card on Pinterest for today's card, I used a really old SU stamp set called Awesomely Artistic, I blended some Old Olive ink around the base and side of my card front and then used Mint Macaron ink to stamp the fern fronds, finishing with the floral stamp that I inked with Pacific Point ink and randomly stamped around the bottom and sides.  There is a small dotty stamp in the set too, I used that with Marina Mist ink to fill in with some little dots and spots.  The final steps were to stamp the Dragonfly, I did repeat stamp (using platform) to get a nice dark image. I chose the sentiment from a more recent stamp set and stamped that in Pacific Point too. I matted the card onto some Marina Mist card and then onto a white card base.  It's a totally flat card so perfect for posting.

I hope that you all have a lovely day,

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra                                                                                                                                                          xxxxxx

  1. Morning Ladies

Firstly-thAnk you all die your lovely comments on my card tutorial I can’t wait to see what you all make.

Sandra-sounds line you were busy yesterday but with a rewarding job.
Your card is gorgeous and perfect inspiration for this weeks challenge.

Today is going to be strange as I’m working from home. I’ve been under pressure from my line manager to do this one day per week for some time but until now it just hasn’t happened. To be honest I’m not sure if it’ll work out but willing to try it. It’s got to be better than the constant interruptions I get usually!

    1. It will feel very strange but give it a chance I love it In fact it will feel very strange working in an office It is definitely more productive As you say no phone interruptions
The only downside side for me is the internet connection sometimes drops and the lack of social contact
I don’t think we’ll ever go back to the office full time

    2. As Karen has said Michele at least you won’t have any interruptions working from home. Well that the theory I suppose. Fingers crossed it works out.

  3. Hi ladies
    Great card Sandra.
Good that your able to sort your Mums ashes at long last.
Another lovely day here at the moment.
I’m meeting a friend as usual this afternoon for a coffee & cake.
A Gardner came this morning to look at ky hedge. He’s coming to cut it next Wed for me. I’m pleased it’s being done at long last. Craig’s done it before last year when he was allowed over. But I don’t like to keep bothering him to come and do it.
Take care & stay safe everyone.

  4. Hi everyone from a nice and sunny MK, hope you all have the same and will get some time to enjoy it.
Sandra, I love your card today and good you told us how you got the dots because I was wondering about them.
Hope you can get the date for laying your mums ashes to rest

Michele, working from home was the best thing my OH said, no people coming to interrupt all the time and he could make himself a drink when he wanted to :)
Karen, have a nice time and also the same to our Pat when you seeing your friends.
I said to my hubby last night that if we were going for a walk tomorrow we should do it as soon we were up so 7.30 we were out and it was very nice even if my hip and knees were complaining a lot. Had breakfast in the garden and getting to know son's girlfriend better. I think he have found a good one :)
Have a lovely day everyone. hugs for you all and extras for out Lynda, Cheryl and Margaret xxx

  7. Hello Sandra and ladies,

What a beautiful card you made yesterday Sandra, perfect inspiration for this weeks challenge.

Michele I hope that working from home goes well, at least you will not have the constant interruptions you have in the office. One of our daughters works from home most of the time she only has to go into the office occasionally, most of the meetings they have are online, when she does have to go to work it’s usually on site, last week she had to go to two sites Cheltenham and Bristol which involved an overnight stay. But it suits her and her family life down to the ground. The family know not to interrupt, although during the holiday Ciara had sent something to the printer and went into the office on her hands and knees to retrieve it, As mum was on a conference call. She said on another occasion Callum made a drink, the office is actually off the kitchen but Callum went out of the back door tapped on the window and passed the cup and through the window. The do give her some amusing moments.

We have been fortunate again with the weather, although they did say we would have rain around 4 pm but it didn’t happen. I know some of you have had rain and thunderstorms forecast I hope it wasn’t too bad.

Time to check how the dinner is getting on, take care everyone enjoy your evening.
    Love Brenda XXX
