Your Next Challenge

Happy Birthday
SUE
xxxxx

Good Morning Ladies,

Please join me in wishing our lovely Sue a Very Happy Birthday 🎂, I hope you have a lovely day Sue, I look forward to celebrating with you sometime soon my lovely xxx

Talking of Birthdays did you all see the Celebrations for Captain Tom Moore, how emotional, it was so heartwarming to see.  Did you also see how many cards he has be sent, did you look for yours? hahaha, I'm pretty sure they said it was around 120,000 cards.

Here we are at the end of another week, it barely seems a couple of days since Janet was saying it was 'swear word' day!!
I was confused as I thought that we were having a Bank Holiday this weekend, forgetting that it has moved to Friday to celebrate VE Day, not that there will be much in the way of celebrations, it will be nice to have a long weekend though.

Your Next Challenge

For this next Challenge I would like you to 'Make your own Backgrounds'.

You can use whatever method you like to create your Background, whether it is using an Embossing Folder, Distress inks, masks/stencils, you can create your own 'Caught in Crystal' type backgrounds.
You could also use the Resist Techniques, makes textured backgrounds with Embossing Pastes/powders.
For my first Challenge card  (above) I chose to simply Stamp my background, using a new stamp set that I got a few weeks back called 'Very Versailles' (pictured below)

I stamped the Script stamp to add some detail around the edge of my card using 'Crumb Cake' ink, I then stamped the leafy vine in Old Olive over the script.  To finish the background I added that border stamp to opposite corners and embossed them with gold embossing powder. I edged the card in Gold Gilding wax, just a light touch.  For my Focal Element I used a die set called Woven Heirlooms which has a matching pair of Frame die and matching Embossing Folders, they create the most beautiful frames and lovely ornate stamps. I die cut the Rectangle Frame and embossed it, I then used some Gold Gilding wax to pick out the detail of that pretty embossing.  I stamped one of the sentiments in that set and embossed that with Gold Embossing powder, to add some extra detail I stamped lightly over the embossed sentiment with the script stamp and touches of the foliage top and bottom. I centred the frame over the stamped sentiment and adhered it with foam pads.
I backed this front piece onto some Old Olive card which I also added a touch of gold gilding wax around the edge. I mounted the whole thing onto a Very Vanilla card base.
I actually really like how it turned out.

I look forward to seeing what you all create for this Challenge.

Take care and I hope that you all enjoy the weekend.

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra

  1. Morning Ladies

Sue-hope you have a very Happy Birthday today.

Sandra-yes I was looking for my card! It was like those “Where’s Wally” pictures!!!
Great challenge for us next week.

My blood donor appointment was problem free. Loads more space, much less people in the venue and I was home by 6pm! That was my 78th donation. I was hoping to get 2 more in this year to make it 80 but my next appointment isn’t until October.
    Thank goodness it’s Friday!!

Your card is so pretty SANDRA and in your favourite colour too I’m looking forward to this challenge
I now have a “proper” office set up in my craft room instead of squinting at a smallish laptop screen It’s further for me to go as I now come downstairs to have breakfast and then go back upstairs to “my office” That’s a whole flight of extra stairs!
Maybe we will see an ease of restrictions today BUT as much as I’d love to see the grandchildren (like most of us) I will put up with living like a hermit if I have to
    Take care all xxx

    1. Hi Janet
Yes our weather was like yours yesterday. I’ll just pinch a piece of carrot cake & a cup of weak tea. Don’t swear too much.

  4. Hi Sandra & ladies
Happy Birthday Sue I hope you have a lovely day. Not quite the same as you won’t be able to meet up with family.
Great card Sandra got the challenge. I’ll look to see if I have any cards where I’ve made my own backgrounds. I think I do I just might need to put then together.
A bit brighter today but still very windy here in Oxfordshire.
Take care everyone and stay safe.

  5. Meant to say the celebration for Capt Tom was fabulous. Fantastic cards he’d had sent. 140 thousand according to the news. But too many to get a correct figure I suspect. I can’t see us coming out off lockdown anytime soon though.

  6. Morning everyone and a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our SUE, hope you have a lovely day.
Capt. Tom's day was just so amazing and the sweet man is someone we will never forget. So many cards and greetings, he will have some time to see them all.
Well done Michele, how long does it take ? I thought about it but because I have such a problem to even give one tube,it would take ages to get anything from me so never done it.
Had a walk this morning and beat the rain but it soon be here with these clouds around. The garden look nice tho so it needed it. Feeling a bit brighter so after the brunch I will tackle the CC for this week.
Your card and the challenge for next week will be fun to do but which one hihihi so many choices.
Have a nice day all and the biggest hug to our Sue and some extra in the basket for anyone who need some. Maria xx

  7. Hi Maria. I’m glad you managed to beat the rain on your walk this morning. I went to go out but when I looked out off the window it was raining. So I decided to bring my hula hoop down and have a go. I’m not very good I’m just say. But will persevere with it.

    2. Mines quite a heavy one Maria. So it hurts if it hits your feet. I do try to catch it before it hits the ground if I can.

  10. Hello All, Sue happy birthday,
Nice and sunny but very chilly wind, blowing all my big poppies about, they are early this year.
Good choice for next week Sandra, and good card to show, haven’t done this weeks yet, being as I have to do my own cleaning now, really appreciate what a wonderful team they are. Takes me all day just to do the basics.
Having trouble getting my heart medicine, apparently it’s out of stock at the manufacture, so left it with the pharmacy to sort, seems strange why they let the stocks get so low. Enough of my moans, hugs to all Lilian

  11. Hi Sandra and all in the Cafe today.
Firstly I must say a BIG THANK YOU for all of my lovely cards and wishes. I have so many gorgeous cards. Thank you for my gorgeous card. Fingers crossed that we will be able to meet up very soon my lovely xx
