No die Challenge cards

Good Monday Morning Ladies,

I hope that you all enjoyed the weekend and are ready to face the week ahead, exciting one for me as Paul and I are off to London on Wednesday for a couple of days, we are seeing a show on Wednesday night and have Afternoon tea at our favourite hotel on Thursday afternoon, we have some Theatre vouchers so may fit in another show on Thursday evening but will see how we go.  I am looking forward to having some quality time together.  We chose this week as it's the Anniversary of the day we met some 32 years ago!

Today's cards are the first 'No Die' Challenge cards for this week, I am quite enjoying this challenge, although it's surprising how often you think about reaching for a die to cut an embellishment or sentiment.
These particular cards were made from a Kit that was Free with Issue 184 of Papercraft Essentials (another one that Michele shared and I had to have!)

I like the papers in this kit, you have everything that you need to put a few cards together, although I will say that the quality of the card blanks in the kit is questionable, the first card I made tore as I creased it! So I just used my own card bases, the papers and the die cut embellishments are good quality though.
The first card I made was a fold back front card, covered it with a selection of the papers and made a topper with some of the die cuts and attached it to the front of the card along with some matching twine.
The second card is just a little 4 x 4 inch card, that I added a mat of some of the floral paper, I wanted to give the corners of the paper the same look as the topper that came in the kit, I couldn't use dies so I used a flower punch, the petals gave just the right shape to the corners.
I tied a piece of the Bakers twine that comes in the kit around the top of the topper and added one of the sentiment die cuts.
Super easy and they don't look too bad.  I will be honest and say it's been years since I used a card kit, it is handy having everything matching in one place but the one down side is that everyone's cards will look the same, well, similar!

I am hoping to have some stamping fun in my craft room today, I did manage a couple of backgrounds that are quite decent with my Gelli plate on Saturday, so I am hoping to use them today, watch this space...!

I hope that you have a lovely day however you are spending it,

Love and hugs to all of you,

  1. Morning Ladies

Sandra-your Cards are lovely, so pretty. I have to confess that I haven’t used this kit although I have opened it.

We had a lovely sunny (but breezy) day yesterday so we did some gardening. We tidied up the front garden & it looks so neat now. I then had a Play in my craft Room then phoned my Dad in the evening. Doesn’t the weekend soon go?!

  2. Morning Everyone
    Beautiful card SANDRA.

We had a reasonable day yesterday and fingers crossed that today will be the same.

I'm hoping to make a start on my CC today so we'll see what happens.

The CAFE is OPEN and looking lovely with Daffs on the tables cheering the place up.Pop in when you can ALL are welcome.

HUGS are on their way to you all.Take care and stay safexxxx

  3. Hi Sandra and all in the Cafe today. Great cards, aren’t the colours beautiful. Using a flower punch to shape card corners is a great idea when you can’t turn to dies. (I wonder if I will remember it!) As you say kits can be limiting but ideal as a no die card. I’m looking forward to seeing a card using some of your geli plate prints my lovely xx
I finally got around to sorting out my dies as lots of them had ended mixed up in a tin which was meant to be emptied at the end of each craft session but of course that didn’t happen!!!
I hope every is as well as possible on this dreary wet day. Sending love and hugs to you all with extras for Lynda, Mum, Maria and all in need. Take care xx

  4. Hi Sandra and everyone.
Hope all is well? I've been looking in recently and enjoying all of your lovely cards. So pleased to see you're still doing the weekly challenges. This weeks is rather tricky so I look forward to seeing all of your wonderful creations.
I've just started getting back into crafting again after a long time of not doing very much at all. Really couldn't get myself motivated, but the blog is back up and running so hopefully that'll give me the motivation I need to keep it going.
Fingers crossed this comment publishes, I did try commenting a couple of times last week but they never seemed to publish. I was using my iPad, so as a last resort am trying it on my phone!
    Hugs to all.
    Sonia xx

  5. Lovely cards SANDRA I think I have kit that I keep meaning to have a look at
I hope you understood my garbled messages about the perfect rulers PAT
    Take care all xxx

    1. Thanks Karen. Yes I did understand what you were saying. I bought these after our class last month. I looked at a video online but I do like to be shown. I think I know what to do but will just get Ronk to refresh my memory. We’re using them on Thursday. We need to bring a cutting mat & knife. I’m usually use a sort of guillotine cutter. But do you think I can find my small cutting mat. I have an A3 one that sits on my desk and haven’t used the small one for years. But I expect I can use someone else's.

  6. Hello All, wet and soggy here again.

We had a dry day , yesterday with a bitingly cold wind, at least we managed to get out side for a short time. Potted up 20 new dahlia, the are Rogers favourite flowers, I gave him these for his birthday.

Yesterday’s cards were all lovely, sorry I forgot to drop in.

Sandra very pretty cards today , nice reminder spring is on the way. Waiting to here your views on the jelly plate, not sure I’d use one enough to warrant spending the money.
Have started my card for this week , but am a bit stuck what to do next.
Sonia lovely to see you in today.
    Hugs to all ,Lilian

  7. Hello Sandra and ladies,

What lovely cards Sandra, like the inverted corners you created with your flower punch.......that’s really thinking outside the box!

So pleased you and Paul have got around to sorting out your mini break in London, you always seem to pack so much into these few day - enjoy your time together xx

SONIA lovely you have managed to pop in. Hope you are well.

Time to get the dinner on. Take care everyone, love Brenda xxx

  8. Hi Sandra & ladies
Lovely cards today Sanda. Great that you can use no dies. Mind you I still have plenty of them, embossing folders and stamps that I no longer use.
I saw on the news this evening that a bottle of hand sanitiser that is being sold at £4.00 was selling for £99.99. Has England gone mad or what.
It was a lovely day until lunchtime, now it’s pouring with rain.

  9. Meant to say Sandra enjoy London. But I will be seeing you tomorrow.
