Mixed Craft Saturday

Good Morning Ladies,
Saturday is upon us once again, do you realise
that it is only 2 weeks until Ally Pally!
I am so looking forward to meeting some of you.

First up on todays mixed craft day is
Norah's exquisite hand knitted Shawl, how beautiful is this
work of art, it is so special, perfect for a Christening.
Take a close look at how intricate the pattern is, it looks
like lace around the edge, Norah these are so beautiful,
what an amazing gift for any new baby, I look forward to seeing the
blue one too, although its the same pattern I bet it looks so different
with a change of colour.  Thank you Norah for sharing these
gorgeous works of art with us.

They must take ages to knit Norah, you will have the nimblest of fingers,
be lovely to see one with a baby wrapped in it.

Next up we have this masterpiece, created by Diane, just
take a look at how gorgeous this cake looks, all of the detail that
has gone into the hand tools and the gorgeous, perfectly formed
cabbages and carrots.  The shed looks a little like ours does at
the allotment! Every time I look I see more detail, like the seed
packets and is that a vinery die you have used as a border?
Thank you so much for sending me the photograph of this
gorgeous cake Diane, Colin must have been totally amazed.

Last up today we have Janet's beautiful embroidered tablecloth,
look at the intricate stitching all around the cloth.

This close shows all of the beautiful embroidered detail, every single tiny detail has been hand stitched by Janet, It must have taken you months and months to complete.

This last shot shows the gorgeous centre piece of the cloth, how amazing
would this cloth looked with either just a beautiful flower
arrangement in the centre or a delightful afternoon tea.
Thank you Janet for allowing me to share this beautiful piece of
embroidery, the photographs show it off perfectly too.

Well what an amazing array of crafts for you to look at today,
you really are such a multi talented bunch of ladies.
I am so proud to be able to share the work of my lovely
friends, so keep the photo's coming in for me to share.
Love and Hugs
Sandra

  1. Hi Sandra. Have you recovered from Wed my lovely? Got your text that you sent me on Thursday mid evening yesterday while I was at Mum and Dad's, along with several others! How annoying is that? Please be gentle with yourself. I know Paul will look after you though. Have a lovely weekend with your brood. Could you feed the kittens a biggish meal just as you go to bed and cut the 10pm one out or just give them a tiny amount then? At least you may get a few hours peace that way.
Wow, once again we are treated to seeing some beautiful things that our talented bunch have kindly shared with us.
Norah, your shawl is exquisite, what a wonderful heirloom. I can't wait to see what the blue one looks like. Thank you so much for sending the pics to Sandra. And I must add to the comments about that wonderful son you have. How many tears of pride have you shed over the loving things he does and says. What a son : ) I think Sandras idea of you sharing some of his work is great. Would he be happy with that? I do hope so.
Michele, It sounds like the funeral was a fitting farewell to your friend. Be gentle with yourself today.
I am just going to wish everyone well and will hopefully get to have a proper catch up later on using Gem's tablet. Have to get ready to go to the Scout hut for a couple of hours cleaning and sorting, a group of us do it a couple of times a year and today is the day. It;s surprising how much gets done in 2 hours with many hands really making light work. (I will only be on refreshment and very light sorting duty today as the body is still not at it's best! Got a feeling the drugs need upping for a while, which mean I will be more dopey than usual!)
I will be back later at some point. Take care.

  2. Diane and Janet, so sorry, I have just realised that I didn't comment on your fantastic cake and tablecloth.
Diane, how long did it take you, and I don't know why you were worried about the writing you clever thing : )
Janet, how beautiful. You should be so proud of yourself. The tablecloth is wonderful, it must have taken you ages to complete as there are an awful lot of stitches on it! I bet everyone comments when they see it. What a talented lady : )
Thank you both for sharing with us. Take care x

    1. Hi Sue
Thank you for the kind comments about my cake. I made the Madeira cake on the Wednesday iced it on the Thursday and decorated it on the Friday but I made the parts for the shed on the Monday ( I made 2 lots just in case!) so they could dry. I did buy the seed packets tools and carrots from the local cake decorating shop to give me a start but I made everything else. Yes my uncle thought it was wonderful!
Enjoy your day but don't over do it

  4. Morning Ladies

Relaxing Saturday for me-off to the hairdresers for 9,30 and thats all that's planned.

Norah-thats a truly beautiful shawl. Such a lot of work but it's amazing.

Diane-your cake looks professional and far too good to allow anyone to cut into it!

Janet- the detail in your tablecloth is fantastic. I wouldn't dare use it but have it on show somewhere so everyone could admire it.

Might have a crafty session after lunch as the weather has changed for the worse here. It's very wet + windy, so its perfect for staying inside without feeling guilty.

    1. Hi Linda
Yes my uncle loved his cake thank you and proudly took the shed home in tact with the cake that was left. His shed is a standing joke in the family, he likes to potter in it these days which means moving a few things about then putting a deckchair just out of the wind by the door in the sun and having a little kip !
      Enjoy your day

  6. Here I go again.......I will try not to be angry about my comment going missing.
It is not a good way to start a day is it.
I did set everything up hope it was all ok for Sue getting in.
Oh! My! Giddy! Aunt!....... Just take a look at those wonderful "works of art"
NORAH:- your shawl is absolutely amazing, love, love, love that design. I made baby John's shawl which was square and much thicker. It was pattern I could manage. I have always admired that pattern when I have seen it. A treasure to have and keep for ever.
DIANE:- your cake is amazing I would have been sorry to cut into it. However you have the photos to admire when it was just crumbs on the plate.
JANET:- your works of art using needle and tread are absolutely out of this world. They are so beautiful, I love them.
LADIES:- please take a "bow" on the stage of this wonderful "show"
I for one am totally in "awe" of the performance of your wonderful talents.
It is a miserable, dark, rainy day here in Perthshire. I feel it is a day of making a right mess and Craft, Craft, Craft all day.
John Jnr and the boys usually come for lunch after they have been washed up after playing their Saturday League football. They do this when Audrey is working on a Saturday. They wonder why Robert constantly has a "snotty" nose ....... maybe playing football in the pouring rain, getting soaked might just be the cause!!!
Right!! have had my cuppa, toast & jam and feel much better after my bad start with Technology.
I am leaving a basket of (((((hugs))))) for all you ladies who are ill, in pain, or just not feeling 100% , hope they help. Look forward to seeing you with a big smile on your face sitting over by the window enjoying your day chatting with each other.

    Well here we go again.
Norah. Now young lady who says " oh my shawls are nothing special " ??? Oh yes they are they are stunning, the work that has gone into it using the finest needles and wool plus the hours and the love. Come on Norah stand up and take the credit.
Diane. Another one that won't take credit were credit Is due, your cake is amazing a work of art.
Janet. You are a lady of many talents, your table cloth is gorgeous! I take it you do these things while in France?
Sandra sorry should have said good morning and thank you for showing these wonderful crafts, well I did in the other ones I wrote. How are you feeling this morning, I hope you are still taking it easy? Those two young ones can get so e work experience in looking after mum today and seeing to the kittens. I agree with Sue, give them a packet of food late on and fill there tummys up, and do the girls play with them in the evening? That might make them sleep better. I know Gillian had to put some food down late on at one point for her cats.
Right for all those who aren't feeling to good I have filled the basket up with ((((((hugs)))))). As I am not trusting this to publish. Hazel x

  10. Good morning Sandra and all the crafty crew
Oh with this dreadful weather the coffee will be in demand today but please ladies don't spill on the magnificent shawl on show made by Norah. This really is something to treasure forever and most definitely made with special love.
Such a beautiful cake and no even if you pay double you are not allowed a slice!
Janet your cloth really is a work of art so very beautiful, you really are one very talented lady.
The corgis came in more than a little wet after their walk this morning and so was Derek one thing for sure I am not going out as well as the rain there is a dreadful wind too, so take care if you do venture out instead of crafting!
I hope you are taking it easy Sandra and allowing yourself to get some quality rest to build you up for Ally Pally my sweetheart.
Typing with one hand is taking me a long time, I left one on Thursday night for Patricia and by the time I got it done she had gone to bed! So hope this one doesn't get lost.
Have a lovely day everyone and if you are not feeling 100% just take things easy, and help yourselves to a hug or cuddle from my basket over in the corner.

  11. Morning everyone,
Norah, don't you dare put yourself down with your talent. These shawls are stunning! Di you use 1 or 2 ply for them? And all pinned out to get the shape right! WOW,
Jane, I have always done embroidery, although my Mum was the best at that, but this tablecloth is a real work of art. I would never allow anyone to eat near it. I can see the hours of work here.
And as for Diane's cake, that's just something I never try. Tray bakes are one thing, but not artistic pieces like this. Beautiful. Hope your family all appreciate your talent.
I am presently trying to look busy since the dog needs his walk, and the rain is blowing sideways, but I don't think I can fool him for long, he keeps looking at me, than at my coat.
Sandra, if your kitties eat dry cat food, leave them a bowl at night, my dog is certainly no puppy now, but has always got the midnight munchies. That way he rarely disturbs us. They all have different ways of eating, you just need to find their rhythm to make your life easier. You did know that pets rule the world, didn't you?
    OK will brave the weather
    See you later

NORAH. Your shawl is beautiful. I can knit but could never do something like that. Would take me forever.
Diane. Love your cake and am sure your Uncle and the other guests were delighted with it.
JANET. Your tablecloth is beautiful. Not one to be used I would say, just to look at and admire. It must have taken you a long time to do.
Like everywhere else it is wet here today. No idea what I will be doing apart from getting my son to take me to the Royal Mail sorting office to collect a package. Could get the bus part way but then a long walk through an industrial area and I don't fancy that. The sorting office is right at the end of the estate so anyone who hasn't got a car has a very long walk.

  14. Hi Sandra and all the lovely coffee shop ladies
What a dreary morning this morning - where has the sunshine gone?
Thank you Sandra for showing the picture of my cake. My uncle loved it especially as the shed looks just like his! I put some ivy at the side of it to add to the effect. One of my older cousins told me the shed belonged to my grandad originally and with the usual attitude of its a good shed don't waste it it was taken to my uncles house when his father moved in with them! My uncle Colin is diabetic so he was only allowed a little bit of the cake but I'm sure he managed to get another slice by being good over the weekend. I have to confess the local cake decorating shop helped out by supplying seed packets trowels and carrots but I made the rest. I was looking for a deck chair to go by the shed but couldn't find one so their items were the kick start I needed. I enjoyed making the cabbages though, I had forgotten how much I enjoyed doing things like that. The ivy around the edge is the Greek collection boarder die, isn't it wonderful! I had it for Mother's Day so perfect timing!
Norah your shawl is so beautiful and it made me smile. I know the pattern is an old one, it's the one my mum or gran used to use because I have it too! I haven't knitted it myself but I can remember it being pinned out after it was knitted. When I told my mum I was expecting she was in hospital but her comment was tell Jean (Julian's mum) I'm knitting the shawl. Unfortunately my mum died a few days later and my auntie was with me at the hospital (Colin's wife) . Auntie only used to knit chunky Aran jumpers for her boys and she came so close to being asked to knit the shawl! In the end Julian's mum and gran knitted it together and yes Emma still has it. Thank you Norah for showing your masterpiece and bringing back some lovely memories. Xxx
Janet what a wonderful table cloth, I love embroidered cloths and have several family heirlooms . I cannot embroider for toffee so I know just how much skill has gone into this and how many hours of work. My great aunt used to embroider and bought me a tray cloth to teach me when she came to stay. Well it's around somewhere, it never got finished, it's rather grubby and scrunched and you can see a lot of cloth between the stitches! Thank you for sharing this masterpiece with us. I'm glad you got the all clear to go to France on Monday so enjoy your packing and safe trip. Xxx
Well I must get on, we are going out for afternoon tea this afternoon, a Christmas present from Emma. It's at a posh hotel so best bib and tucker. I think we are going shopping before hand so I might have a chance to get some dress fabric. I've managed to buy the walk away dress pattern they used on the sewing bee so I'm going to attempt it. Sewing isn't my thing so I will probably give up after a while and get my sister to finish it! She can't cook but can sew and I can cook but can't sew! What a pair!
I hope everyone has a lovely crafting day as the weather is so horrible. Mrs B can you send the scouts round to do some cleaning here please????
I will pop back later to see what mischief is going on.
    Take care

They had the lady from the seeing bee and the patterns for the dresses on C & C the other Friday, she demo'd one of the dresses and talked us throw the other ones, she said they were quite achievable, you should take some photos of the different stages as you make it and we could have a blog post dedicated to the creation of your dress! If you like?

    2. Hi Diane, I confess to having a little weep when you told us about how your mum so wanted to knit a baby blanket for your baby. She must have been so happy for you, and her knowing what ever happened she would always be Grandma. You story made me think of my Grandma she had knitted for as long as I can remember. She had been ill for some time when I told her I was pregnant with our first daughter, and had lost the energy to knit. Well she took on a new lease of life and dealt with baby had so many matinee jackets booties mittens even a shawl. And to quote my grans words she said "that baby saved my life" she lived to see our little girl get to three years of age. LOL Brenda

    3. Oh Brenda, I really think your news did bring almost 4more years of life to your Grandma. I bet to her she was the one and only Great Grandma as no one else could possibly have been a happier lady than her. I can just imagine her telling all and sundry about her great grandchild. Your news did more good than you could ever have dreamt I bet and that is the best thing about a wee pink body of wriggles the ever extending rings of happiness.

My mum would have loved Emma and she would have had so many pretty dresses and knitted outfits. Julian's mum is a great knitter so she has never gone short and they have a very close relationship which is lovely. Julian's Granny is also still around and if she and Emma get together there is even more trouble!
Norah's shawl is beautiful isn't it and I'm sure the mum and baby will treasure it.

Diane your cake is amazing. The hours you must have spent making the shed etc on top of the cake.
My word Janet your tablecloth is stunning. It must have taken you months of work to produce such stunning intricate work. How talented you ladies are. Must go online and buy my ticket for Ally Pally. Hope that everyone is keeping well or and least feeling better.

  17. Hi Sandra,
    Hello everyone who pops in!
Norah - your shawl is gorgeous! I can knit but not like that! What a lot of time and concentration goes into that beautiful shawl. They are so fine and yet so beautifully cosy. It looks like lace around the outer edge! I think it will look lovely in blue too. I wonder how many of those you have actually knitted ? Thanks for letting Sandra show it to us.
Janet - your tablecloth is another work of art and a lot of work! I used to do embroidery when I was younger. Mum taught me that too. I found some things I'd made in the house after she passed away. These things are timeless and last for years and years. So pleased you got the ok to go to Marigny - safe travel on Monday.
Diane - I'm sure you're cake was thoroughly appreciated both to look at and eat! It was lovely that your Uncle was able to take the shed home too! Thank you for sharing your beautiful cake.
Has anyone heard from Alison - she hasn't popped in for days. I do hope she is ok.
Sandra - hope Matt and Becca are both ok after their car troubles this week! My Dad once hit a cow - it had got out of the field and he came round a bend straight into it! The cow fell down but got up eventually and was fine - my Dad's car was a mess and Dad a nervous wreck!
    Will call back later!

  18. Good afternoon Ladies,
Rather late in the day for me to make my first appearance. Was up with the larks getting household clearance items into my car and straight into our branch of Scope. Very nice gentleman works there, he even helped to unload the car, bless him. Then it was back to Cannington and the butchers where I stocked up my freezer for the next 3 months.
Also checked Pete's flowers, watered them and tidied up some of the more bedraggled and dead Mother's Day floral arrangements. I always take my folding secateurs with me and a bottle of water to make sure Pete's are freshened up but so many just lay bunches of flowers on their plots and walk away, I find that so sad. It's as though they haven't got time any more to stay and arrange them.
Onto brighter subjects, I am finding all these wonderful crafts so amazing!!!!
Norah, your shawl is divine, your babe is so blessed he has a Nanny to make him one with all the love in the world.
Diane, your cake is equally gorgeous and I bet Colin was over the moon with it.How lovely to have your very own personalised cake.
And Janet, your stitching is stupendous. What a wonderful keepsake of your embroidery talents. I still have my 'Bottom Drawer' crocheted treasures made by my Nanny Campkin.
Cameeli, how awful for you to lose lots of your crafting stock in the fire. If there is anything you need to replace, please leave me a message via Sandra. I would be only too glad to help you out my dear.
    Love & hugs to everybody,

  19. Good afternoon dearest Sandra and the coffee shoppers,
Thank you girls for all your kind comments on my shawls. They are knitted in one 2ply wool and are about 5'6" when stretched out to bring out the beauty in them. The girl that I made these two for I don't know yet if she liked them or not or even if she is using them on her twins. I'm not one for big gushes of gratitude but I just like to know that they will be used as there is a lot of time and effort goes into them. I normally find out first before making but it didn't work out like that this time, hey ho that's just the way it goes. I was going to email Sandra and get her not to put them up as to me they are just plain shawls and I am not very good at showing what I do off being a nervous sort of disposition but thank you so much everyone for building up my confidence which living in my house gets knocked on quite a few occasions. There is no way anyone could have a big head here as OH does a pretty good demolition job of knocking any confidence that you might have for six.
Diane I am so happy that your Uncle Colin loved his cake as it is a cracker with its wee hut/shed and its allotment patch. My mum used to make marzipan petite fours and they were all the different fronts. She would put some essence into each dollop of marzipan so that what you were eating tasted like it as well. She used to make up two ferro Roche boxes for my team at the work, but one lassie was always a glutton and would have them finished within the day so I told mum to stop making them for me to take as no one else was getting a chance which was a shame. The bananas had all their brown markings on so that they look a bit bashed, the clementines had a clove in the top so that it looked liked it should with the lines and dimples. It was fun seeing the bunches of grapes, apples, cherries, bananas, clementines etc. so I can appreciate all the work that has gone into your beautiful creation. I know that uncle is diabetic but I do hope that he could have a wee bit more of his delicious cake to enjoy.
And finally our clever friend Janet and her gorgeous tablecloth embroidery. This is to be on show and have plastic over the top to protect from our slitters that we have in our lives called children and husbands who can't seem to find their mouths. The work that goes into beautiful embroidery is immense and I can only say thank you so much for letting our dear Sandra show your fantastic creation.
Well it is a wild and windy day here at my beloved Ochils but the sun is shining even if it is a bit nippy. Can I have a latte please Sandra with a slice of whatever cake is the highest in calories as I need a wee bit of a boost. I will be across in my wee corner with my knitting to sit and people watch at our coffee shoppers that comes in. Crikey I had a late night in here last night but the fun that you see when you're the only one sober is fantastic but I am not spilling the beans all I'll say is it's just as well none of them were driving home ;)
My basket is full of hugs fair anxious to be wanted and useful so please help yourself.

    1. Hi Norah! You made two! My little brain hadn't taken that in although there are two on display in the second photo! Before you say it - I didn't have a hangover either! None of that with virtual alcohol! Lol.
How are you getting on with Mum's house? Have you any idea when you will move? Hope everything works out well . You will have mainly lovely memories of the house which I'm guessing was once your home. After Mum and Dad passed away my brother couldn't go back to their home. Fortunately I could -,someone had to! When I finally left it - it was fine - they weren't there any more and it was just an empty shell . I shed a few tears many a time while emptying and clearing but it was a happy home so I look back now with fondness and a smile. I pray Norah that feeling will eventually come to you. It's early days yet - but it'll get better.
      Lots of love, Myra xx

    2. Hi Norah
Goodness I can't believe you don't know if the girl liked or is using the shawls! I know it's tough when you have a baby, especially twins but you would have thought she would phone you or drop you a line to say than you! The shawls are beautiful you need to be told that more often. The marzipan sweets your mum used to make sound lovely - I love marzipan! What a shame there is always some one to spoil it for every one. My uncle used to have the 21 day rule , the 21 st day was his naughty day when he was allowed a treat! My auntie despairs of him! Hope you have had a good day,

    Afternoon Everyone
Well back home with feet up after our weekly shopping trip to Meadowhell lol.
Jim's Niece and her two little ones are well and of course the little ones are now on holiday and so are on a high - so pleased that those days are behind of having to keep up with very energetic youngster. 2/3 hours is more than enough.

Norah - how dare you say young lady that your shawls are really nothing. They are out of this world and a work of art themselves. These are the precious items that are handed down through generations and are made complete with all the memories they hold. I definitely look forward to seeing your beautiful blue one for your tiny bundle.
Diane - I am so envious of how you can make your wonderful creations look far too good to eat. Having said that I'm sure that everyone appreciated how good it was to eat and that your Uncle took home 'his shed'. I know just where to come when I need a beautiful cake for a special creation so I hope you take orders lol.
OK my table cloth was a fantastic find. I found the cloth two summers ago when we went round a Brocante in the next village to us in France. I'm always on the look out for such things a button/ribbons and odd bits for crafting. The lady on this stand had a load of pieces of material along with the odd pair of curtain etc. and I found the cloth at the bottom of the pile. It had the pattern already printed on it so I suppose people didn't want it because of that. Anyway I had it clutched in my hands determined not to put it down and imagine my surprise when I asked how much did she want for it and her reply came back as 3 Euros so it translated into around £2 !! There was no way it was staying on the stall. Anyway I decided that I would only use 2 different stitches - chain Stitch and Stem Stitch- and where I would normally have gone for pastel shades decided that it needed bolder colours. I finished stitching it just before this last Christmas so it hasn't been used yet. It will be handed down. I'm now on the look out for my next big project.

Thank you all for your beautiful comments. They are really appreciated from my crafting sisters.

Hope you're feeling better Sandra. At least you'll have your beautiful girls around you for the next couple of weeks. I also hope you have a really good day today.

My hugs are in their usual place by the door so please please help yourselves.

    2. Oh my goodness Janet that was a bargain! I love the bright colours you have used. I hope you do get to use it before it becomes an heirloom, you need to show it off to the family so they can remember having tea served on the cloth rather than it just being a lovely cloth that Janet embroidered. I have a few tray cloths from my great aunt as well as table cloths - does anyone use a tray cloth these days?!
I look forward to seeing your next bargain!
Thank you for the comments about my uncles cake. I have had one or two orders from people and I'm getting braver at accepting the challenge! Julian takes cake to the office occasionally and gets requests for certain cakes, usually lemon drizzle and carrot muffins!

  22. Norah, you will have noticed I was in the cafe last night but not drinking. I am like you I get fun just listening and watching. Now as I and the others have said as from now you don't come in here with " my projects are not worth showing as they aren't that good". We will take none of that, if your shawls are to go by we NEED to see what else you produce. Forget your OH and family, we are the crafters and we know how much these things take to make, even if it's a simple card, cake oh just what ever you get great pleasure making!!! That little baby future grandson is going to be so cozy wrapped up in his beautiful shawl. Just make sure Kristen knows how it's to be washed, or maybe she should ask you do wash it for safety reasons, you dont want this being put in the machine. So come on Norah do not hide your work any more. You have another talent which I even told Sue Wilson when I meet her was that you need to write all your little stories down and then get a book published of your memories, I for one would love to read it, as when you tell us o se I can picture the scenes etc. you have so many talents. 23. Oh ! Where is my comment I left this morning ??!!
Well its not going to be an essay, so I will try to remember what I typed earlier !
I wont be suprised if the orders dont come flooding in after looking at Norah's magnificant shawl, OMG its SO delicate, my finger's wouldnt stand a chance feeling that delicate thin wool let alone knit or crochet with it ! Its breath taking Norah, err, what else... Oh yes, if.id spent all those hour's decorating that lush cake, there wouldnt even be a crumb to taste let alone cut into it lol, a bit like our Sue cutting into her dies ! And as for the table cloth, if that isn't a family heirloom then what is I ask ?! I just think you ladies are over loaded with such talant it amazes me it really does. The cards and makes Sandra has included here are just mind blowing, you are all so incredible.
Sandra, I used a bottle for one of the 50th cards ( 2 sister's asking for a 50th for their sister) so one has a bottle with dare I say... Iced snow (that nearly choked me then to say that) just a tiny bit to make it look like sparkling cava with the year of birth on the bottle, and as she loves shopping, Ive used a stamp with a tart carrying a load of shopping bags, and apparantly when I sent the sample to the customer she said her sister was just like that ! Oops, say no more lol I knew the stamp would come in useful anyway : 0 I just need to colour it and add loads of bling ! Then almost there and HOPEFULLY I can concentrate on my market cards then (she say's) famous last words !
Oh oh oh must tell you ladies. Alison treated me to a few bits n bobs a few weeks ago and one of the things was magnetic sheets, I dont know how much you pay, but these darlings were £1.00 a pack of 2 from Pondland and poundworld also do them, they are just as good as the branded magnetic sheets BUT... These are magnetic paper that you can print on, imagin that. Not only do you have really cheap magnetic sheets to store all your Sue dies, but if someone orders a card from you for an extra special occassion, you can make a magnet keepsake to go with. I had to share that with you as if it wasnt for Alison treating me I wouldn't have dreamt at looking for anything the slightest bit crafty in those shops unless something took my eye as I walked through the isle (painfull)
So ladies Im not writting an essay !!! Huh. But I HAD to tell you about these bargain beauties.
    Back to my 50th card.

How are you Sandra? I hope you are blooming today and not in pain, and thank you for showing all these beauties.
Where to begin, Norah - your shawls are gorgeous and the girl you made the two for should be taken in hand for not telling you how wonderful they are.
Diane, how cruel of you to photo this cake - and then we can't eat it. I'm not surprised your Uncle was very happy with it, it's so special and when it's made with love it tastes all the better.
Janet, your tablecloth is fantastic. I've embroidered since I was about 7 as my mother used to always have something on the go, and would give me a tray cloth to do whilst she did bigger things. I can't do it now because the fingers are not so adroit, but I do love it and your cloth is absolutely gorgeous.
Well, I've been to a small craft show this morning with my friend and got some absolute bargains - and some expensive things, which I shouldn't have!!!
Sheena Douglass was there (not exhibiting) but was looking for a cash point as she'd forgotten her money, so I told her to do some demonstrations and charge for them. She always goes to our local shows to have a look around, and is very friendly with everyone. Not standoffish at all and just like she is on TV.
Saba, I didn't realise that I was supposed to iron creases into shirt collars, and to think I'm always so careful not to!!!
I haven't swallowed any buses lately but am about to go downstairs and pinch some of George's liquorice comforts - I hope he hasn't counted them lol.
Steph, you do make me laugh - Iced Sn*w indeed, at this time of the year!!
Wendy, I'm not speaking to you - SUN , Lanzarote - some people have no heart.
DON'T FORGET THE CLOCKS GO FORWARD TONIGHT.

Norah, your shawls are so lovely, so many hours of work here, I just hope the young lady you made them for appreciates them. If they were mine they would certainly be on show for everyone to see and when no longer needed would be put away for future generations.
Diane, uncle Collins cake is really a work of art, everytime I look at it I see something different. I'm so glad he got to keep the shed.
Janet, your tablecloth is beautiful, this has definitely got to be a family heirloom. and having waited that time to redo my comments I realise what a fantastic bargain you had. Certainly well spotted by you.

  27. Myra Dear,
Just for you, but nobody else must know, so don't breath a word:-
From the £1 section I got four packs of small resin flowers from the Santoro range and they are beautiful.
I got 6 packs of jewels (real pearls, rubies and sapphires don't ya know).
1 pack of 20 pearlised pale pink card to make flowers. (11 items for £10).
I got a 100 pack of Samuel Taylor 250gsm super smooth card which is perfect for die cutting, and colouring with pro-markers or water colours, but I like a slightly stronger card for the actual card because it doesn't feel like 250 gsm, and it is great value at £4.99. I always use it because it does colour beautifully.
Two tonic die folders and 1 pack refills.
Two sets of flower stamps because I haven't got enough - that's why I keep giving them away!!
A rabbit die by Sweet Dixie.
    Pebeo gold gilding wax.
3 large bottles (125 ml) Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic Glue (special £20).
Now Myra, I think that's the lot because when I came in I had to hide them at the bottom of the stairs sharpish before HE appeared to "help me". I told him it had been great as there's been loads of bargains and showed him all the things marked £1 lol.
As for liquorice - which I still haven't managed to have as I've been typing this - we love the catherine wheels with the knobbly jelly sweet in the middle, Pontefract cakes, Liquorice Allsorts, well any liquorice really, but you know I'm sure I read that you shouldn't eat it if you have blood pressure so neither of us should be eating it really, that's why I'm so good and eat chocolate a lot of the time instead ha ha.

Well it was a right miserable, dark, rainy morning here. By lunchtime it had cleared and the sun came out. There must be a heat in the sun, when I looked out the field it was "steaming" ..... NO not me! the field. Then the wind got up ...... NO not me! the trees were blowing like fury. Now it's all calm and rather a nice evening.
Guess where that silly hubby of mine is ........ out changing the time on the clock in his car. Mine does not need changed ..... don't know how to change it. After tomorrow it will be at the right time till the clocks change again!!!
I made a right proper mess in the kitchen, bits from Die Cuts all over the floor. Table covered with bits of paper and tools. Long worktop had my Glass Mat, Scorepal, large Guillotine, Hot Glue Gun at the ready. What was I making??? you'll have to wait and see. I will pop one of the projects on my Blog for Monday the other I will show during the week. I am cutting back on my Blog Posts there is so much I want to do in the house over the next few weeks. Place needs a right good deep clean. The garden also needs a bit of attention. That's really John's domain but I do help him with the "pots" We have a large garden, most of it is Chips and a large drive. We did it like that so it was easy kept when we lived abroad. However it still needs attention.
Well better go see what there is for eating. I am not hungry but tell you what John certainlŷ will be, he always is. Whats annoying is he eats anything & everything and never puts on an ounce. Me i just look at things and the pounds go on.

Cameeli, I hope you get sorted out with your craft room. Can you claim on your insurance. Actually, it must be hard to work out how much we have all spent because I think we all think that we have to have whatever is the latest thing, and even if we cannot afford it then, we save up. I'd been saving for the last six months for our trip today. Mind you it's a lot easier to walk now that my money is out of my knicker leg - it's the only place I can keep it that nobody will find!!!

They all had a couple of pairs of drawers that they had sewn a secret pocket into so that they always had their security well and truly sorted out. I will try and visit the coffee shop as often as I can My tipple is a skinny cappucino. I don't need alcohol I get a bit "drunk" on the caffeine!
Thank you all for welcoming me to the shop. Just to say I'm definitely part of the Tena Lady brigade but my boobs aren't big enough to join the droopy tits.

Norah - don't do yourself down that these are ordinary shawls Having made one for a friend whose grandmother started one and died before it could be completed, so I know how hard and how long they can take. You may like to see my humble efforts on my blog if you get a chance to visit.

Diane - Your cake is lovely and being diabetic myself I'm sure your uncle will cut out something so that he can enjoy a couple or three slices. He'll certainly feel proud that his niece took the time and trouble to make him a cake

Janet - a real find and it is glorious. I have done a little bit of cross stitch on Aida and linen, so I admire your work not following a chart etc

Sandra - Thank you agian for greeting me. Do I have to keeping coming back to see updates or is there a quicker/easier way. I'm going to Ally Pally on the Sunday. I'd love to meet up with you all at some point. I don't know the lay out of the place. So I'll leave it up to you to state times and place and I'll do my best to be there. I'm going to try and find you other lady's blogs that I don't know about although I have seen your names on the likes of Sue W etc

Take Care All I consider you as part of my extended family now (having visited a couple over the last few years) Such wonderful talent I am in awe of all of you

NO we are not all mad ( I am one of the elders, so maybe I could claim some senior moments, I have to be allowed some excuses ) but all of us love crafting and have a great sence of fun. Can I offer you a glass of virtual white wine - OK YOU LOT ITS BEHIND THE COUNTER. Don't tell the boss lady.

  35. Karen, these ladies in here are the kindest most thoughtful people you will ever be so lucky as to meet. They lift you up when you are at your lowest ebb and truly care for each other. They have made me feel normal and brought back some of what I used to be like many years ago before I married. They pick you up and let you feel that you are wanted and accepted for being yourself. It is so nice to finally have true friends that you can laugh and joke with, they are simply the very best and I am so pleased that you have taken the plunge and joined our merry little band, you are very welcome to our happy band,

I feel very privileged to say I know you. Lol
My dear friend Vera ( Veronca) she was also a canny Scot ,she died some years ago, I remember telling the Priest at her funeral ( sad to say he knew me better than her and he was not my parish priest ) she taught me how to laugh at myself. I had been very serious before I met her. I miss her to this day. I could go on for hours telling you all about the daft things she did. But she will live on forever in my heart. Sorry if I have gone on but you remind me of my lovely friend. Thank you FOR being you LOL Brenda xx

  36. Like Freddie (or some horror film person) said "I'm Back.....
Yes, I've been playing, had a great time and found some more things that I'd bought. Two packets of beads for the stick pins, they are very yummy, and some U Mount stuff for unmounted stamps, as I do not like the rocker blocks or Stick and Spray, as they always fall off mid stamp - if you know what I mean.
Ooooohhhhh Patricia, I am soooooooo looking forward to some chocolate with salted peanuts. In fact don't think I can wait until October so will have to try it myself. Off to the supermarket tomorrow to get the necessaries. That's the beauty and downfall of having a supermarket at the top of the street - it's to handy for the naughty things but so handy for the bread and milk!!!
Have any of you devised a cocktail for me yet? When Rachel first started work her Christmas present to us was a long weekend in Edinburgh at a very nice hotel.
We had caviar and champagne to greet us (ughhh on both counts), a lovely dinner later on the Friday evening with cocktails, but as I don't drink the chap behind the bar concocted a non-alcoholic drink - it was all the colours of the rainbow and quite delicious.
The Saturday was a fairly normal (for me) day with a show in the evening but the breakfast on the Sunday morning lasted 3 hours and had so many courses it was ridiculous, I was wheeled away from the table in a wheelbarrow, but George managed to stagger away under his own steam. Believe you me it was fantastic. We didn't eat another thing until lunch ha ha.
This is great, he is still downstairs so that I can join you in the fun and not have to switch off too early. I think that I'll just check around to make sure that nobody is hiding where they shouldn't - anyone seen Maria lately!!!
Norah, when we did PE at school we wore our vests and navy blue knickers with a pocket, in which we kept our handkies!!! Mind you it was in the 19 - no I couldn't possibly say lol. Can you imagine, we used to lift up our skirt to get the handky, we'd be locked up today. Well actually that may be why the police keep stopping me - and I thought it was just because I was so gorgeous.
Well, Brenda, Patricia and Myra - you do not know how lucky you are. I will have to change all the clocks tomorrow because he who must be avoided has no idea how to do it! He doesn't even know how to change the date on his watch, but he's dead canny, just does my head in a lot of the time. (That's Geordie and I hope you get my drift).
Hello Karen, just realised I haven't been on your blog today so will pop over there now and come back to see who's in and who's not.

You have had a good day! I will have to change the clocks apart from the bedside one! I can't be trusted with that you see! I change all the timers - I'm awful for lamps on timers! Central heating is clever - it changes itself! My watch date will be wrong for days - it always is after the clocks change! Xxx

  38. Hi flower, here I am.
I remember navy blue gym knickers and short sleeved light blue polo tops. Thought it was very uncool in the 1960's for us girls to wear knickers whilst the boys wore shorts. No wonder so many of us were self-concious with all the boys ogling us. Can't enjoy some of this alcohol floating around, have to take my tablets at 9 o'clock and no alcohol with them, otherwise I'd be under the table and you wouldn't remember to put me out with the cats? Why DO cats have to put out?

    1. Cheryl, our cats go out themselves through the cat flap, kitchen door is shut at night so if they bring any presents in they are restricted to the kitchen, the presents are usually deceased.

  41. Well, I've been home all afternoon and had the joy of Storage4Crafts ringing me to say my new desk is being delivered on Monday afternoon. 2 weeks earlier than anticipated. Jolly good service from them and they make their items in England!!!
Really had good sort out in my guest room, I can now see the bed. Whenever I decorate everything gravitates to the room used the least and then I shut the door until I can't stand it any longer. Another trip to Scope next weekend should take care of a lot of things.
How is David getting on? Improving slowly I hope? xxx

He has to go to the hospital for a camera down on the 1st April, then back again on the 8th for heart check. He's extremely tired and worn out, which is not him at all and I think he's worrying about that, but he's still here and with no paralysis thank the Lord.

  44. Well,I can't believe that I'm the only one still here up and about, except for Cheryl. I think I'd better go and check on George, he's always up here by just after 10 and ready for bed, which is why I usually have to push off soon after. I'll tidy the benches, put the dishwasher on, clear the bottles before Norah sees them! and hang the key in the usual place. It's all right everyone, Maria is not in here tonight.
Oops, Late Night Flash, George is ok, I've just heard him cough!!! I can relax and get ready for bed.

  48. Good evening ladies,
What an amazing mix of craft today.
Norah, your shawls are fabulous. What a beautiful keepsake for any baby. I really am in awe of your talent. I would have loved to have been able to make something so beautiful for my grandchildren.
Diane, Colin's cake looks delicious, I am sure he was thrilled to bits with it and very proud of his clever niece.
Janet, what a bargain buy, but what a lot of work you have put into making this fabulous work of art. Love the bolder colours you have used and whoever you hand this down to will be a very lucky person indeed. It's beautiful.

I have had a lovely day with Oliver. I am taking him with me to church tomorrow but am dreading the inevitable "why" questions which will follow. We are bound to have crosses and nails mentioned during the service!!

Muriel now I have heard it all. Keeping your money in your knickers is ingenious but puts a whole new slant on the meaning " dirty money" especially if you have had a tenna a moment.
Myra, may I ask does the lightbulb shining up the tree have any particular purpose. maybe birds who are afraid of the dark.
Brenda so thoughtful of you to put a little something behind the counter for us, I'll help myself if you don't mind.
Muriel, what are you doing going over to the other side, was it someone you spoke to during your seance yesterday that invited you over?
I am going to publish now because it has taken so long to type this you will all probably have gone to bed by now.

    1. Hi Saba
Thank you for your kind comments, enjoy church with Oliver tomorrow, yes I wonder what questions he will have! It does depend on the school he goes to and whether the school is allowed to teach them about Easter ! I have seen some strange school assemblies on Easter over the years! The old vicar used to bring a cross and all sorts with him but the new guy did an assembly at Easter on Brazil nuts - he thought the Easter message wouldn't be welcomed as we were not a church school! He had been invited to come and celebrate with a special Easter assembly! Ho hum
      Take care love Diane xxx

  49. Oh no Sandra, just Maureen finding that putting her money in her knickers was safer than in her purse, like if any one robbing her would think her money was in there. Norah's Nana was the same, they did it when they went to Blackpool on holiday. A good job we don't do that these days with the body scanners at the airports, that would cause a stir. Nice to see you in for a late coffee Saba. Oh have fun with all the whys tomorrow!!! Hazel x
