Teal & Cream

Good Monday Morning Ladies,
Well here we are at the first week of March already, my goodness where is this year slipping away to?
Right I am going to be totally honest with you I was messing with different colours before I became poorly last week, this is kind of the result, it is a dark teal green kind of colour and vanilla cream
card, the focal layer is made using the Gemini Phoenix Die and the Austrian Background Die,I die cut the Phoenix die first then the Austrian Background and then the other Phoenix die. I added a piece of double sided sticky sheet to the teal card underneath the focal element and covered it with Cosmic Shimmer Iced Snow, just to give a bit of sparkle.I then decided I would use my new Flower Making Booklet from Pink Frog Crafts called 'Grow Your Own With Brittania Flower Dies Book'  to make some roses to match the background colour, I used my Britannia multiflower rose die to cut some of the teal card and then followed the simple step by step instructions to make the teal roses. It is brilliant and I would recommend it to anyone!I added some cream roses and other bits of foliage to make the central arrangement.I added a cream/gold coloured bow to finish the card with a teal coloured brad in the centre and another in the centre of the Phoenix die cut at the top, also I added a few pearls to finish the edges.
The overall size of the card is 8 x 8ins.
The moral of the story is don't make cards when you are under the weather!
I am exhausted today, but the aching body and head is totally bearable because I had the best day yesterday, it is a great show and as I said before very well organised, the Disabled Parking access was first class, it was inside and very close to the entrance. There were plenty of buggies to transport people that had to park further a field. I think the only thing that you could possibly criticise was that there were not enough tables for everyone to eat lunch.
I was so delighted that Christine Emberson commented on my blog yesterday!
Well I am expecting to see lots of handbags emailed to me to show on my blog, I have seen Patricia's and its fabulous! It was so kind of Izzy to allow Sue to share the instructions with us.
I may have a little play at making one tomorrow.
Well I must go now and feed these kittens, before the drive me bonkers!
Love and Hugs
Sandra xxxxx

  1. Good morning Sandra. Oh I see I am first in this morning, never mind I will see to filling the kettle thing, I see you have had to invest in one of the big ones??? You know something Sandra you will soon be getting numbers that will match Sue's . I think I will pop a tea cake in the toaster while I am at it. So glad you had to good day at the show, but yes you will need to rest up for a day or two. There is nothing wrong with your card young lady ( I can call you that because you are so much younger than me) Your colours go well together for a start, your die cuts are gorgeous and your flowers are as usual beautiful and arranged perfectly. So what's the problem, they isn't one, you are just simply being negative!!! Well I will sit in the table by the window, have my tea and tea cake and watch for some others to come in. Not working this morning, well I have to do housework, why is it you Hoover and Hoover and those little backing bits from the little foam pads still keep appearing??? The dog was even wearing them on Saturday after Gillian and I had made up the last invites. Hazel x

    1. Good morning Hazel,
I can't imagine ever getting as many visitors as Sue does, it would be nice though! I thought I had better upgrade to an 'urn' for the hot water as the kettle just couldn't keep up, no waiting for it to boil now either!
Oh no not housework, that us just wasted crafting time! I agree with the foam pad bits, it's like the die cut waste it gets everywhere! I think the kittens help to distribute mine! I have even had them in the bed!
Thank you for your lovely, positive words.

  4. Good morning Sandra and all the Coffe Shop Ladies.
I will Join my sister over in the corner. I see she has popped a Tea Cake in the toaster for me.
Sandra you have to take things easy for just a couple of days, get you strength back.
Now!Young Lady and I can also say that I am older than Hazel ..... just a little!! I love the colours, Die cuts and all those beautiful flowers. I love making flowers, once you "get it" they are fun to make.
Thank you for the kind words on my Izzy Bags. They are easy to make once you get your head round the instructions". The first one is the easier, the second one has a "rounded" bottom that is rather fiddly to get grips with and rather messy with the wet glue. The fun is in Having a Go!!! For goodness sake if you make a mess it's only a couple of sheets of card not precious metals or even sheets of leather.
Right off over to the corner to have a chat with the ladies.

Fabulous card, love the colour combination and those flowers are gorgeous. Loved the Handbags that Izzy kindly showed us, cannot make one myself as I don't have the dies yet but used to make a similar bag years ago with just one sheet of A4 card folded over to form a clutch bag. Nothing as detailed and elegant as Izzy has done lol!

Bit quiet in here this morning, think I'll have a toasted teacake as well and a camomile tea today if Hazel doesn't mind popping another one in the toaster.
Your card is glorious with its lovely bouquet of amazing flowers, your flowers are always stunning, I dont know how you have the patience. The deep shade of teal you got by using the iced snow is so rich looking. It's lovely Sandra.
I have to say Patricia, I have a bit of a rounded bottom as well!! Loved your bags, I had a quick look yesterday, they are fabulous, I didn't get chance yesterday to have a go but today I am going to ignore all housework and have a play.
Maria, you got the teal grand Calibur.!!! Hope you enjoy using it.
And Alison don't know if you saw my comment last evening, was a bit late, take care if you are driving back over today, thinking of you.

By the way Sandra, I popped over to Christine's blog yesterday and see what you mean, she is very talented, and was giving a die away! I didn't comment as I didn't think it was fair to all her regulars but I did notice someone on there had commented who only ever comments on our Sue's blog when there is something to win. Can't mention names seeing as we have all signed the official secrets act, and, it may be that she comments on Christine's regularly so I may be casting aspersions where aspersions shouldn't be cast lol.
Right then lovelies, enjoyed my toasted teacake, ready for some crafting now.

Morning everyone - I'm helping myself to a latte and money in the dish on the counter. Sandra so so pleased you had a good time despite being under the weather but now you need recovery time so please take some. We'll all be here when you're feeling better. Your card this morning took my breath away. It's simply gorgeous. I love everything about it and I for one would love to receive it. I will be trying out one of Izzy's bags when I have sorted March bday cards. I have 7 bdays and 1 Siliver Wedding to do and 2 of the bday cards need doubling as I make these for a friend to give. I'm already talking gibberish so heaven only know what I'll be like at the end of today lol. I had a good look around the Range and Hobbycraft yesterday but no joy so came back and spent the afternoon on the net sources crafty things. I really do wish I had a craft shop on my doorstep so to speak. I know that C&C is an old nugget but whilst I was channel hopping -it must have been Friday afternoon I think- I caught a programme showing wrapping paper and a book of the same theme. The bit I saw this woman did a demo of wrapping a bunch of flowers with two pieces of ordinary brown paper and tied with raffia. Any child could have done that easily and then proceeded to tell all that the Jane Means Gift Wrapping book and 4 rolls of ribbon -40m- was £42.99 and then postage of course. Has the world gone mad or is it just me? How can they think that we can afford to pay that sort of money for what is after all a book and ribbon. Just think of the dies we could buy for that money. OK soap box back in the corner. Am off now as usual Mr Tesco due between 9 and 10 and a sorting out of my craft table is called for. Hope to see you all later. Take care out side it's still windy and very cold here. Hugs in every strength to all.

    1. Agree with you Janet on the world gone mad with prices. I sa Jane |means earlier this year with Mrs. Gobalot
Jane gift wraps for all the 'celebrity' (too lazy to do it themselves) types. The show promised plenty of demos & tips. Did we get them? 'No' as then that was when Mrs G started and didn't stop.
Demo result, 1 tiny bag and 1 ribbon rose. I thought the whole programme was a waste of air time. They ought to call the shows Mrs G Time, then we can all turn her orf.#

    4. OMG. £42.99 what I would do I'd I was given that budget??? And I panic at charging £28 for my basic nappy cake, which has a sleep suit( next) vest again ( next) bib and burp cloth then they get 16 nappies a muslin the box cake board and a toy. When I get a big budget I put more in the box or basket and add a gift card for parents to spend on something they like. No there is a lot of greed out there. Hazel x

So lovely to see you in the cafe this morning x
By the way I think most of us gave a round bottom!
I too have wandered around the range and not found anything to buy, it's quite a basic range isn't it!
Well I agree with C & C prices too, I am watching now and they are showing some docrafts pads that Sue bought at The weekend show for £6.99 I think, it's more than double on there, I too saw that wrapping show on Friday, what a bloomin rip off, she may be a "wrapper to the rich and famous" but jees who in their right mind would pay £40!or more for a book, what was hard in the demo's she did, she wrapped docks in tissue paper, tucking ends in, some garage flowers in brown paper, that my children could gave done better, a Nader a ribbon rose, that be Sue's standard was rubbish!
Who are they aiming at? Who has that kind of money!
I can recommend Klassy Kards too I have bought some bits from them online, good prices too!
      Have fun shopping,

a.o.com are brilliant. Last time I was home,(we have a cottage in the Dales) my washing machine broke. It was a real emergency - I had a huge problem the day before - massive smoke damage to the whole cottage- and everything had to washed and I mean everything, clothes, curtains, towels, bedding etc. they were brilliant and had a new one to me by the following day. An exact delivery time, a phone call to tell me they were on the way and their fitting and after sales was second to none. I am not on commission! But would really recommend them.

Thanks for the heads up,on the craft shop for the flowers, I love Wild orchid but they aren't cheap! We all like to save a few pence don't we!
I am feeling a little better today, I have been sat waiting for the chap to bring Becca's car back from it's MOT, she paid £1000 for it a few months back, it hasn't been used that much, just a few runs for her to get a bit of confidence before her test! Well I a very cross but at the same time very relieved, the 'lady' she bought it from could clearly sell Ice to Eskimos! Becca saw the sat, went on a Friday night as the woman said she gad someone travelling 50 miles to see it next day, so Becca was pushed into making a quick decision, well the mot today was somewhat of a shock, the underneath of the car is so corroding that the structure of the car is compromised the break pipes are corroded through! I just keep thinking what could have happened if she had got straight in it when she passed her test last Tuesday, her brakes could have failed and she wouldn't be experienced enough to control the car! I sickens me to know that people can sell death traps like that to other people's children at the end of the day, I could not sleep at night, my conscience wouldn't allow me! Bless she just wants to get in and drive and now she has to wait until she can afford another car!
Anyway I have moaned enough, I will go and make a sandwich for Paul's lunch.

  10. Hello Sandra,
I'm so pleased that you meet up with the ladies - and Christine Emberson - and had such a good, if tiring, time yesterday. Now today is rest up time and take it easy - although I think you'll have no choice but to do that.
What a beautiful card, the colours and flowers are lovely. I will have a look at Pink Frog when they come up to Sunderland to a Craft Fair in August. Their prices are very reasonable and I'm sure they said that the Britannia Dies are their own make. I'll have a look at the book you mention as well.
I don't know if anyone saw the message that I'd made two of the stick pins and was delighted with the result, but I still worry that they'll prick someone so I made sure that I put them in the bow before I added it to the card with a hot glue gun, so that the points were covered in the glue. I'll be very sparing in who I send them to though, as I was spent nearly a week doing a full sailed galleon pergamano card, with the sales and rigging all cut away, only for my brother-in-law to say it was a lovely card, what sort of stamp had I used!!! When I explained how I'd done it, I said "If you give it to me, I'll show you", and he replied "Oh, we just binned it". I've never done him a pergamano card again!!!
Hazel, thanks for putting the kettle on, but I thank Sandra needs to get a tea urn like the one I used to make the Cricketers teas with when George was still a sporting man!! Maybe, in all fairness, we should all chip in for the cost. I'll make myself a latte, and I think for a change, I'll have a toasted crumpet with butter and jam - yummy.
Saba, I hope your sister is still improving and great that you got to see a video of her (is that right - I read your blog last night and can't remember was it skype, video or some other infernal contraption, anyway, I know you saw her and it was lovely). By the way, Saba, I have a rounded bottom too!
Patricia - I'm getting rather good at this, after a few of the ladies said they'd been on your blog, I clicked on your name - and up you popped!!! Your bags are beautiful and I will certainly have a go at making one or two, but I'll have to hoover up a whole tub of dark blue glitter first! I spilt it last thing last night and was too tired to do anything about it - other than say the odd naughty word lol.
Janet, I've seen that present wrapping programme on C&C before. What a load of overpriced rubbish it is. Now I like a beautifully wrapped present, the same as anyone would, but that was ridiculous. I think JJ was presenting the show I saw, and talk about gushing, ugh.
Sam, thanks for the thumbs up on the template - I'll pop over there next, and I hope you feel better later in the day.
Maria, Saba says you got the Teal Calibur, let us know what it's like - and if it's any different.
Well, Mrs B hasn't arrived at her corner table, so I'll go to take my tablets (I forgot again yesterday) and will pop in later.

We go twice a year and I go occasionally with a couple of my girlfriends, they are not sailors but we have a absolute ball and you wouldn't believe the looks we get when we moor up. You can see them thinking "where are the men!!"
I can't believe they threw it away. Some people just don't realise what love and effort goes into making a special card. Your brother in law wouldn't get another card from me ever, let alone another handmade one.

I made a card for my friends birthday last month and when I saw her she produced a box with all the cards I'd made her over the years and it made me quite tearful that she had kept them all safe. I always keep handmade and special cards. Do look out for the Britannia dies, they make a lot of word dies which are quite reasonable in price and a legible font. I think Joanna Sheen sells them too. 7. So sorry to hear what happened to your lovely work. Thats a problem I feel when you making your own cards and you know how much you have put into it and they can't see that, wish is a shame. I know my mum keep all the cards I made but know by sure that the others I made for do throw them after a while and that hurts but nothing I can do..... Maria xx

  11. Morning all, jeez what an awful day here, one minute we have torrential hail, then snow flurries followed by sun !!! Bloomin crazy.
Oh Sam, Im with you today my sweetness, feel utterly pants and on count down for when bed time comes round. At least I can say all last minute order's over the past few days are DONE - thank god. I was going to leave the 50th for a week as not needed until the 28th, but decided to get it done as who know's what can lie ahead, so for once I made the best decision for me to crack on. So now I can prep all the craft things I want to take into hospital with me, I tried so hard to talk them out of having me in but its one fight I couldnt win im afraid, they were actually quite blunt with me ( I need that sometimes to talk some sence into me ) !! So it was a case of have this infusion all day for a week or run the risk of gangrene ( ? Sp) what option did I have ? So Ive to go in this Wednesday, and not looking forward to it. Its a long way from home so dont see Andy until he comes to fetch me again, you can now see why I cant take just a book, I recently bought a few packs of LOTV mini basket kits all cut and scored with papers to stick on and some flower embelishments so Ive taken the templates and cut more to take in, Ive cut my own choice of Sue's flowers and some JS bunny's and ducks and my Scandinavian borders to make the handles, so I can now cut more of these today so I have lots to decorate these little baskets with. Was going to get some card bits done (as the demo's) do so I can bag all the card layers and dies etc and make them up, Ive only done 2 so far and one is vile lol so do I really want anyone to see this vile card ? Anyway, its a week full of die cutting, well 2 days of cutting so better get started, take my mind off feeling yuk.
I just want to say that you should rest today Sandra, and that Im thinking of Val so much Saba.
Right then ladies, love n leave you, have washed my latte glass Sandra...
Tata for now, wrap up before you leave its vile out there.
    Love you.
    Lancashire Steph...
If I could make a card like that when I felt poorly Id be so chuffed, again Sandra you've made a stunner my love xxx

    1. Steph. I am so sorry you are feeling Yuk, but then again is that because you are due your infusion??? I know Patricia gets real low when she is due for her injection!!., So I think you are going to feel oh so better by the time you are going home, ok you will be a bit down as you can't see Andy because of the distance? Now are you going to be in a room of your own? As you could ask them for an extra over the bed table that you can use for your craft stuff no having to move when you need your tray for other things. I actually use one of these trolley things it sits over the end of the spare bed and I have it at a good height I have my guillotine on it and my art box with my dies there at the moment so you could have the project your working on just on it and you wouldn't need to move it till it was complete. Patricia and I used to eye up the trolleys they use for all the bits a pieces they need, thinking oh a great craft trolley I think if we could have sneaked one out we would have. Remember to take envelopes etc in to as you might just sell some of your cards or even get orders which would be fantastic. Don t over do things before you get there, (((((( hugs)))))) gentle ones. Just imagine that we are all with you, chatting away, and you giving us your pearls of wisdom and then, when you are sitting in bed having a good chinwag with us, the nurses will be wondering if you are O.K. or hallucinating!! It should give you a good laugh and maybe pass the time of day quite pleasantly. Of course, small things amuse me!

Lo Steph I'm so sorry you feel rubbish and to add to that having to stay in Hosp for a few days. It's never good having to go in but sometimes there is no choice. You will be soon back at home with your lovely other half and four paws and most importantly feeling much much better. Make sure you've got plenty of crafty things to take with you and keep your occupied. I'm sending huge hugs -gentle ones of course- and these are to keep you warm and comfy whilst you are away from home. Keep smiling Sunshine and all will be well. Hugs Janet xx

  19. Good afternoon Sandra,
sorry i haven't been in flower but i think you must have in advertantly taken my body with you on Saturday to the Farnborough show as not worth a shirt button since. Just popped in to say how much i loved yesterdays cards as they reminded me of me and my brother Jim. The first one is him managing to keep out of trouble up at Swans Water, up the Long Line at Whins Of Milton and the second is me because i hate being late and the hair was always that tousselled looking until mum got at it with scissors(not a hairdresser so the bowl came out many a time).
What is wrong with your card today by the way Mrs???There is absolutely nothing whatsoever wrong with this beauty. I love your hand made flowers and the overall design of your card as it is gorgeous, so no more of the "what not to do when you are coming down with something" as a lot of us would be happy if we could do that on a good day. Will pop back after flower, but take it easy.

Big pile of ironing thus afternoon with two loads of washing done and on the line but not quite dry. Thought I'd have a quick cuppa before I start dinner. Hope you soon recover from Saturday. I had my first of two visits to the hospital this week today. It was to the eye clinic. It was for a further check up after the cataract operation as on the first visit the eye was still inflamed so was given a different antibiotic eye drop. Ok today just keep putting the drops in until they have all gone. Can go and get new glasses now which will be good. Pressure is good and that was the reason for having the cataracts done to relieve the pressure caused by the glaucoma. Not got to go for three months. Visit Wednesday is to the Fracture Clinic. Hope all those feeling unwell today will soon feel better and Steph hope your stay in hospital goes ok and you feel a lot better afterwards.

  35. Hi Sandra, Don't ever say your cards aren't good enough because what we all have seen They are all Wonderful and so is this card. Love the colour and your flowers are amazing, not sure I would have the patience lol Hope you had a restful day sitting with all your new bargains around you thinking what to do with them next. Maureen have you manage to get all the blue glitter up? I cut some things out with 'the teal' yesterday, it's work fine just not used to have such a long cutting plate, have to make sooo many more turns tihi but otherwise it's seem ok. Only made a massive blooper on the second go and not checking the dies were facing rhe right way so have now a nice cut in the A plate, soooo angry with myself. Tried again with some gilding flakes but thats impossible you to get it on the sticky bit and only going everywhere else, any tips Steph ? sorry you not well. Steph, will be thinking of you Wednesday, hope it goes alright and also for Littlelamb going for the cast. Glad your eye appt. went well. Having sister-in-law around tomorrow so yes I'm another who have to make some cleaning lol so might try a early night, wishful thinking. Wish you all a good night as possible Many Hugs to you and your family Sandra, oooh I still got the vision lol Maria xx

    1. Hi Maria,
Thank you for your lovely, uplifting comments, I find it hard seeing good in my own work, I have massive self confidence issues, so it's nice to hear positive things, that is why my family pushed me to do the blog, to try and make look at my cards the way they do! All very bizarre!
Anyway I have a huge tip for you, buy a set of half size plates, it saves you a lot of unnecessary winding, and it's easier to turn the plates around rather the repositioning the die when you need to make more than one cut !
      Try ebay for them!
      Hope that might help.
Thanks for making my blog a special place!
      Love & hugs

    2. Hi Sandra. Know what you mean about 'self confidence' I suffer from that as well. Sue W asked me why I had taken so long to comment on her blog, was there anything she could do to let people see that there was no problem commenting. I know it was just I didn't have the confidence to do it. I was a lot better when I was with my late partner as he wouldn't let me put myself down but he has been gone over three years now and I know I am not as confident now as I was before he passed away. I am certainly going to look for the small plates. Not many people seem to sell them but they look much easier to use. I will look on E Bay.

    3. Hi hope you do not mind me joining in but if you go into ama zon .com the US site you will get the junior plates half the price C&C charge. I got them for thirteen pounds .three weeks ago no P&P. I watch all your comments but am not confident enough to join in, the only site I put comments into is S.W. who I have followed for a few years., thanks for listening

    4. Oh Wendy thank you so much for commenting, please come in and join us, there are many of us that feel like you do my lovely.
This is such a friendly supportive blog, I am truly blessed by the group of ladies that have joined me and turned my blog from a simple place to show my cards to a warm friendly, fun environment , with people that genuinely care about each other, there are quite a few ladies from Scotland as you may have seen! Please come in and say hi to everyone, little lamb and Diane were some of the last ladies to step in and I think they are enjoying the fun. I am off to amazon now to look for plates, thank you so much
Love and a huge welcome hug

  36. Welcome Wendy. It took me a long time to have the confidence to post here and on Sue's site. I watched and read from the sidelines for a long time but could see how friendly everyone was and decided to 'take the plunge'. I am sure you will enjoy it.
