Todays card came about as I so loved the card that Sue Wilson made on her blog on Saturday,
I didn't want to direct copy it, plus I didn't have the stamp that Sue used on her card, so I made a few changes.
I used the fabulous new 8 x 8 embossing folder Scored Lines, by Creative Expressions to emboss a piece of white card ant matted it onto a piece of the purple card and then placed that onto an 8 x 8 white card base. I then used the Creative Expressions Times Square Die, the outside cut in purple, the decorative die and inside die (which I cut 3 of)all cut from white card. I used the decorative centre of
the die set to cut the aperture, I cut the plain square that is third die in the set in purple to mount the decorative centre on to. I mounted the large decorative die cut onto the purple outside, (this replaces the stamp that Sue used). The central element was stuck flat to the card base the outer square is raised on foam pads. I then cut the remaining two central decorative squares in half, and used to create the effect of a larger decorative square under the main image. I used the CE Pierced Flag die to die cut the sentiment, I used Dusty Concorde Distress Ink to colour through the die. I shaped the flag (giving it a little flick at the end) popped a foam square under the centre for support and anchored the flag under the bow which is tied using the Amethyst Colour Ribbon from the new range of ribbon packs,
topped with a triple bow tied with the thinnest of the Off White Ribbon from the new Creative expressions range, I popped a lilac colour resin flower to the centre of my bow.
I added a few purple flat backed pearls to finish.
I would loved to hear what you think about my card.

Morning Ladies
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Sandra-I wasn't sure if I needed that new embossing folder but it looks like I do! Your card is stunning.
Am very glad it's Friday-we got the details of my friends funeral yesterday. It's 1pm on 27th at a local church then commital at 2.40 at the crematorium then a wake. The department have a difficult decision in still needing to provide a service but letting staff go to the service, I'm sure it'll all sort itself out.
I'm off out tonight to a 50's/60's tribute night-I stupidly agreed to this ages ago but it's the last thing I feel like going to on a Friday night after a week at work. Anyway-might cheer me up and my friend (the one who is going to get the purple izzy bag) is driving so thats not too bad.
Michele
Good morning Michele,
ReplyDeleteYou do need that folder, it's fab as lines follow pattern all the way to centre so you can use any size card.
It's going to be a difficult day for you sweetheart, although it's going to be a nightmare for work staff wise I think that those of you that were the closest to him should definitely go, it's important for you to go and say your goodbyes, sadly I think the whole thing seems incomplete without you sending them off so I do hope you get to go, I will be thinking of you xx
Now young lady, you get your Mary Quant Mini shirt on, Bouffe up your hair, slap on some shocking eye shadow and get out and shimmy!!!
You need a good night out, if it's with your 'mad purple' friend your guaranteed a good time! So come on, you really deserve it, if only to celebrate no redundancy!
I want to hear all about it tomorrow, I will even make you a fry up to cure your hang over! Go have fun!
Love and hugs
Sandra xxxxxx
Hi Michele,
DeleteWish you a fabulous time out with your friends tonight, you must take some pictures and show us if you getting done up at Sandra's instructions hihi. You deserve some fun for one night ! Hugs Maria x
Hi Sandra,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely comments on my blog, I started out like you with peel offs lol! I have to admit I don't like using them now lol! Some of my past creations I would not dare to show either lol! How much we have learnt from the likes of Sue & Julia over the past few years.
Hope you have a good day.

Hi Sandra and all in the Cafe. What a beautiful card, I love your take on Sue's. Using the die cut instead of a stamp is a great idea, and one that I will trying : )
ReplyDeleteYes, I was very proud of myself in my comment yesterday when I didn't mention a certain word at all. Every time I hear it I am straight back to that very giggly afternoon my lovely : ))
My thoughts are with Sheila and Nikki. Take it one day at a time and be very gentle with yourself.
Maureen. I hope that the news continues to be good for your brother in law. It will be wonderful to actually sit and share a table won't it : )
To everyone else I hope you have a good day, may those of you suffering find a little easing of whatever type of pain you have, and those that are out and about enjoy yourselves and tell us all about it when you return.
Take care xx
Hi Sue,
DeleteThanks for popping in, it was quite a simple design, so shouldn't take you too long!
I hope you are feeling better after yesterdays poorly day, are you off to visit mum? If so I hope you have a great day together,
Love and hugs
Sandra xxxxx
Good morning Sandra & ladies,
ReplyDeleteYour take on Sue's card is gorgeous. I love the colours and composition and see why I neeeeed that EF, it's on my wish list as I type.
We had a lovely quiet day yesterday, lunch was scrumptious and then we took Pete his floral tribute. A large tot of whiskey was drunk (by Jamie & Robin) to toast his life and then one was poured onto his plot. A tradition started by our sons Robin & Nathan. I have a rich kaleidoscopic tapestry of memories to draw on, some funny, some loving, some sad and some downright stupid, that make me laugh and smile at his antics, especially when he had drunk more than his fair share! There's a smile now on my lips just thinking of them.
I am so grateful to be part of this wonderful 'Blog family' of ours. Your messages of love and support, even though some of you are in pain yourselves, are amazing. That's the mark of a true friendship between like minds. Thank you so much.
Loving thoughts and get well wishes to all in pain, discomfort or not feeling too good at the moment, (((hugs))) also.
Maureen my dear heart, I trust David had a comfortable night? I sent an email last night to you.
Sheila & Nikki, my thoughts are continuously turned to you at this sad chapter in your lives. Take each day at a time, my dears, remembering all the good times you have had together and the glorious love you discovered through the years, they will comfort long afterwards.
And special thoughts & ((hugs)) also to Michele, your friend is in a place peace now.
Belated happy returns of the day to you for your birthday yesterday Wendy. I hope your day was as beautiful as you wanted it to be.
All this typing and no cuppa or crumpets yet. How remiss of me.
Will call in late to see what shenanigans have transpired. I do have a good chuckle at some of them.
Love & hugs

Morning Sandra and friends, thank you for all your good wishes for our anniversary yesterday, I told Ronnie (OH) that you had all wished us well, he said 'that's nice' (shades of Mrs Brown not intentionally.)
ReplyDeleteJust a quick visit this morning, Ronnie is photographing the eclipse, it's not too cloudy here so hopefully they will turn out well, then we are off to our usual cover at the craft shop, will pop back later to catch up.
Sandra your card is stunning, I love the new embossing folder definitely one for my must have list! Take care everyone, Jess
Hi Jess,
DeleteYou are welcome, I am glad you had a good day''
Have fun photographing the eclipse together, it's really cloudy here so we may not see it!
Thanks for your lovely comments about my card,
Hugs

Good morning Cheryl,
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased to hear that yesterday was as good as could be expected.
I am sure Pete. Will have loved his whiskey!
I am so pleased that you found the blog helpful yesterday, you were in all our thoughts, just as any other family member would have been my love.
Thank you for your kind comments about my card Cheryl, I turned out ok in the end. Thank fully, I loved the card so much, but didn't want to do a straight copy!
I will bring you cuppa and crumpets right away, sit and relax my love .
Love and hugs
Sandra xxx
Thank you so much my flower,
ReplyDeleteI have updated my photo to include Pete, the photo was taken at the wedding of Pete's niece Tracy to Gary, only 4 months before he died. We were Honorary Parents to Tracy, Pete was so chuffed she had chosen him to give her away. Hopefully it will appear, otherwise it has probably gone to that vast storage space in the sky know as Cloud!!!
Love & hugs

Hooray, I managed that all on my ownsome!
ReplyDeleteWell done, young lady! It looks just lovely! Xx
DeleteBeautiful photo Cheryl you look so sweet together. I'm sure he enjoyed his whiskey (are they allowed it upstairs )
DeleteSending you a special hug ,
Squeeze Maria xx
Well Sandra, I'm a little earlier today, certainly for me!
ReplyDeleteI think your card is beautiful . The richness of the purple is lovely and I wouldn't have the stamp anyway , so it's lovely so see a variation on a lovely theme. I don't have any of the new ribbon either and it looks very nice indeed - also like having different widths . Well, I've been interrupted twice so far since I started typing.
Sandra , this is a lovely blog , with the most amazing people . I'm so glad it's here. Thank you!
It was as if a collective sigh of relief went round the blog last night after Maureen's post! We had been looking in all day , hoping and praying - then came the great news!
Patricia and Hazel, - have a lovely time in Ireland - nearly said super - but that gets me in bother! After your early start you'll be tired tonight. Patricia - the rose is my best yet! I bow to your teaching and photographic skills!
Maria - we are being called the rascals I think and Saba and Maureen are much worse than us!
Maureen - hope you had a good nights's rest and George and David too. i will keep David and George and you in my thoughts and prayers. x
Sam - hope you are feeling a bit better - missed you yesterday
Alison - hope all went well yesterday and that you don't have to work today!
Margaret - I didn't forget - x
Cheryl - so pleased your day of particularly remembering Pete went well. Families are so good!
Well I must go as I never intended to write an essay.
Keep up the good work, Mrs B (Sue) x
Love to everyone, Myra xxxx
Hi Myra,
DeleteDon't stop, I love reading your essays!
Bless you having to think before you speak, super is a perfectly acceptable word, I wouldn't worry about what the rabble say, what do they know ? !! After all you could have said positively spiffing!
You lot do make me giggle! Thank you xxx
I got my ribbon from Craftasmic, they have top service and package your purchases probably so no danger of bends and creases, which is unusual today! I totally recommend them, they also had Sue's foundation card in stock too, I use joanna sheen when I can but so often she is out of stock!
Anyway I must get on I have a a Sapphire anniversary card to make and A male birthday card, Paul's mums card too, busy, busy. Busy!
Love and big hugs
Sandra xxxxxx
Hi Sandra and all the lovely ladies
ReplyDeleteFlying visit as I haven't started the day yet, I had to sit and watch the eclipse on TV - it was so cloudy here but I kept going outside to feel the atmosphere. The birds are going mad now!
Hobbycraft was a let down yesterday although nice to have a mooch around with my daughter. I was after some spectrum noir pencils but they have still only got 2 tins left ( same 2 tins for months!) so I had a moan! They should be restocked next week after their store revamp is finished but that means I don't get the 10% off. I got some candles for uncles cake and Emma got some coloured card for her revision so we did spend some money. The cup cakes have been sent off to college this morning so I should get a text soon to tell me how they went, there are a few left for us too. Right must get this cake decorated now I can see what I'm doing.
Have a good day everyone, Cheryl what a lovely picture of you and Pete. Muriel hope David had another comfortable night. Is Ireland ready for the girls do you think?
Sandra your card is beautiful and the embossing folder is a must have. Thank you for sharing, you have encouraged us to buy!
Right must go.
See you later
Love Diane (aka Denise!!!) xxxx
Oh no did I call you Denise ? Sorry if it was my brain is mush for the next 5 days thanks to Mother Nature! Oh the joys of being a woman!
DeleteHow frustrating that Hobbycraft where a let down, it's annoying when you are looking forward to going! At least it wasn't a total waste of time!
Let us know how the cupcakes went down! Have fun decorating the cake and remember the photos!
Love and hugs
Sandra xxxxx
Oops just read it, it was me! Sorry, I know a Denise and she is lovely, if that makes it any better !
DeleteHugs
Susan! X
Hi Diane,
DeleteRg. Spectrum Noir look into: Cutting Edge Craft no p/p
they might have what you looking for xx
Hi Maria
DeleteThank you for the recommendation, I've found more craft companies to use on here than ever ( haha better not tell hubby!). I was given £25 hobbycraft voucher a couple of months ago so thought I would spend it on something I wouldn't usually buy hence the pencils. They don't have sue dies otherwise a couple may have flown my way! I will just have to wait until they are in stock again. I filled in the survey to win £100, wouldn't that be lovely! Emma had her eye on a panoramic canvas so I don't think it would take me long to spend it!
Thank you anyway xxx
How wonderful wouldn't it to win £100 ! so many die's tihi
DeleteGood Luck!
Lovely card today Sandra. My two embossing 8x8 folders have just come from JS. I have Scored lines and Snake Skin. Might try using them later along with the Bed of Roses. Would love to make a card similar to yours and bought the New York Times Square die from Icon recently but unfortunately it won't cut so Icon said to send it back which I did this week. Hazel had advised me to do this and I didn't have any problem with Icon. Straight away they said to return it. That's good. Wednesday I was looking on EBay for the XCut gift bag that Myra made the other day and saw one for £12.99. There were no bids so I watched it until yesterday evening and still no bids so put a bid in. It ran out at 9.30pm and there were no more bids so I got it for £12.99 +P&P. was well pleased. Just waiting for it to arrive now. Hope everyone has a good day. Will have a Latte and a cheese scone please. Try and come back later to see what you are all up to. Margaret - glad your news is good. Will continue praying for your family.
ReplyDeleteGreat! That was a bargain! I hope you enjoy using it. It makes up very easily. Love Myra xxx
DeleteBrenda, you chose the same two folders as me, we will have to compare designs !
DeleteGlad you are back in the swing of things now my lovely, it's good to have you back!

Morning/Afternoon to everyone - Sorry I'm a little late today. My mind is in top gear but the rest of me is in first lol. Well 'slowly slowly catchie monkey' so they tell me. Sandra you have just put my mind at ease re this wonderful looking folder. I've looked and hummed and hawed and yesterday finally decided so ordered it from JS. So now I'm waiting impatiently for it to arrive.
ReplyDeleteEverything about your gorgeous card today is spot on. From the beautiful background to your fantastic bow and flower makes it just the most beautiful card and I would love to have it for my bday.
The post has just arrived and delivered my latest edition of 'Daphne's Diary' so I hope all who ordered have received theirs and like what they see. So this afternoon is taken care of. It will be me, Daphne's Diary and fruit tea.
My hugs for everyone who are having a tough time for whatever reason are sent to you with an extra lot in the basket by the door. Sorry no latte today but fruit tea is just as good.
Will let you know what Ithink about my new magazine later.
Hugs of different strengths to all.
Janet xx
Hello Janet,
DeleteSweetheart I am so sad to know. You still aren't 100%, you are usually so active, it must be driving you crazy!
I ordered the folder as soon as I saw it on Sue's blog as I thought it would be so useful, male, female etc, the new ribbon packs are lovely quality too, it's great having the different widths in the same colour, I should gave ordered more white, although it's off white! I want some more of the really white seam binding but can't find it on it's own, I am not sure I can justify 20.00 for the big reel!
I haven't seen Daphne's Diary, so what's in it? Is it a craft magazine?
Enjoy your cup of tea and magazine, take a deep breath aaaannnnd relax !

Good afternoon Sandra and lovely ladies.
ReplyDeleteWell I really do not know where my morning has gone. I blame the eclipse. Seemed to spend so much time staring at the image reflected through the pin hole, taking some photos and watching it on the Internet and then turned around and it was lunchtime. I have to say, I was not terribly impressed.
Sandra your twist on a sue card is really lovely. I love this embossing folder, was intrigued by pictures of it and had a wow moment when Sue used it last week.
It's definitely gone further up my wish list.
Maureen hope David is continuing to improve, Myra was right there really was a collective sigh of relief when you came back with the good news.
Hope Patricia and Hazel are having a good time but I am sure they will be. I am out again this evening. But before you all start thinking the worst, it will be a quiet one. We are going to see friends at their home and it will just be the four of us so no need for any of that table knocking business.
I will call in when we home to see what you have all been up to, but meanwhile have a lovely afternoon,
Love and hugs

I , too, am out this evening. I will call in when we get home. Tonight we are having dinner with friends so this Cotswold Haven should be a place of peace! Well that will be a first! Try to behave girls!

Thanks for your kind comment about my card, the folder is fab, well Sue designed it so it's going to work isn't it!
Have a good time tonight with friends, hopefully see you when you get in!

Well. I won the bid on EBay last night for the XCut Gift Bag Die and just had an email to say I have won a free ticket to Ally Pally.:-). Just hope I can drive. Must keep up the exercises and make sure I can.
ReplyDeleteWow Brenda what did you win your ticket on?
DeleteYou had better be there, I was banking on you being there for a catch up!
Doesn't it feel good when you win a bid? A lady I know gad one of those 'snipe' things that bids for you, I think it's a bit cheating but she seems to win loads!
Hope you gave a nice weekend planned, mixed craft day tomorrow, your zentangle bowl (did you know it looks like sperm swimming up the bowl ?) haha sorry but I saw it straight away, but I have to say it's one of my mist favourite pieces so far.
Love and hugs
Sandra

I always chat to the lady on Stamporsaurs stand and she said they often get free tickets to the shows and to give her my email address as she was going to do a draw. I did that and then she emailed to say what shows and tell her which one I was interested in. She did the draw today and I was picked out for the Ally pally ticket. No I hadn't noticed that on the Zentangle Dish. Perhaps you shouldn't show it. I got the gift bag die for £12.99. Good deal. Not sure what I will do at weekend as still at son's but do want to watch the Rubgy. Look forward to seeing what other crafts you are showing tomorrow.
DeleteDon't be so daft, it's my filthy mind that noticed, to everyone else they are squiggles ! I will show it because I love it so very much, it's something I would have out on display the whole time, you are very talented!
DeleteSo pleased you got your free ticket!

Hi Brenda wow luck you, well done on winning both the bid and the tickets- must be your day! Have you bought a lottery ticket too???
DeleteI'm drip feeding Ally Pally to my husband hoping he will suggest it. So far he's broken an ornament and has forgotten (?) to do the washing up several times so I might be on a winner!
Enjoy your new die.

Hello Sandra and everyone who visits this wonderful coffee shop today.
ReplyDeleteI think we were all running late today, I blame it on the eclipse!
I think I need a drink now I'd like one of Paul's special coffees please.
Sandra today's card is stunning, Sue is such an inspiration, and just by looking at what she has achieved I can do my take on her card.
Love this embossing folder, I feel an Internet shopping trip coming on! Thank you I have been dithering about this one, you have now convinced me I need it.
Ha ha.
I let John go off and do the shopping on his own today, he always says he's faster on his own. And almost always gets everything correct. Only two items wrong today that's not bad. I am just very grateful that when I don't feel like going out he is more than happy to do it.
Sending big hugs to everyone who feels under the weather or in pain.
Will catch up with everyone later, take care, love Brenda XXX
Hi Brenda. They have that embossing folder back in stock at JS now. Best be quick though. Everyone will be buying it after seeing Sandra's gorgeous card. I wasn't sure when I first saw it but after seeing Sue use it I changed my mind and then it was out of stock. Arrived this morning.
DeleteHi Brenda,
DeleteCheck on Craftasmic if JS not in stock, you might be luckier there.
Good for you having the morning off shopping, did you do any crafting instead? Paul is like john, he's got the shopping down to a fine art, even down to buying the lady things! I kind of miss going sometimes but it's so much quicker for Paul without having to load and unload the wheelchair etc.
enjoy the rest of your day,
Love and hugs
Sandra xxxxxx
Hello Sandra,
ReplyDeleteYour card is absolutely gorgeous, and I'm another one whose got to get that EF. I remember Sue doing this card with the stamp, and you know I think it looks just as good, if not better, with the Times Square.
Well ladies, David is still having tests and is due to go for another scan today, but they are pleased with his progress, and we slept so much better last night. You're right Sandra, they have such a special bond.
Well I am completely knackered. Volunteering in Year 2 this morning (in between seeing the eclipse with extreme safety precautions in place!! Then dash home for lunch and walk to Jesmond Dene (for anyone who knows Newcastle) with a visit to Pets' Corner and the old Mill Wheel with Year 4 (Zoe's class). The children got juice and a biscuit courtesy of one of the father of one of the children (he owns the cafe there), the adults got nothing!!! hey ho.
We came home, had a quick coffee, then George has gone for the girls from school to take them for their Friday treat - the sweet shop.
Michele, enjoy your 50/60's night. I often say I'll do things that seem to be "A good idea at the time" and then wish I hadn't - but I usually enjoy them.
Jess, I hope Ronnie meant that's nice and not "That's Nice". Mrs Brown is so hilarious.
Denise - nice to meet you, have you met Diane lol.
Aren't Myra and Saba so cultured and well read. Latin, German, French and Lord knows what else. I can only speak Geordie) I'm keeping well out of their way in October. Prost
If you can read this Patricia and Hazel, hope you are having a super time - nothing wrong with the word super, Myra.
Don't ask me why it printed the above post, I didn't press publish, but I suppose it's a sign that I should go.
ReplyDeleteSee you all later
Much love and thanks
Maureen xxxx
Hi Maureen, I agree with you, Myra and Saba with their language skills - I just didn't have a clue what they were talking about. I can talk gobbledygook and double Dutch. That wouldn't count as an ology - would it? We really have got some clever ladies on this blog, also they are such fun, I really love it when you start your bed into girls, please don't stop.Love Brenda xxx
DeleteOh Maureen , I'm so pleased you had a good night's rest - I'm tired just thinking about your day! I got duster, Hoover and mop out! I think we were so relieved last night we were just chatting really! Sorry about that . You won't steer clear of me in October Muriel/ Maureen - or Achtung! You'll catch it!
DeleteWell I think I'll have a cafe con leche before I go.
I shall return! All being well. Try not to be too unkind to me in my absence. I'll get a complex!
Lots of love, Myra xxx
Hi Sandra and all my lovely ladies oh yes and Muriel and Denise in the corner with the gin bottle!
DeleteWell what a day! I don't think it was as hectic as yours Maureen, what a lot of trips! You must be exhausted. We always made sure there was a bottle of wine in the fridge after a school trip ( at home not at school!) because we were always shattered by the time it was over. I was usually the one with the big backpack containing changes of clothes medicines and spare lunches! My lunch was usually flat by the time I got to eat it !
It was too cloudy here to see the eclipse but it went darkish and the temperature dropped considerably . It was great seeing it on TV though. I've almost finished the cake, I've cut several of the Greek boarders (they look like ivy) to use as a cake band. Once it's fully finished I will take a photograph for you Sandra. I tackled the writing on the cake eventually, not my favourite bit but it looks ok, bit wobbly but reasonably straight! I've almost finished the card too, just got to stick it to the base card which I will do in the morning.
The cup cakes went down well, Emma's friends thought she made them herself so I just smiled to myself and let her take the praise! I think she managed to feed most of the college by the sounds of it! I think it's her turn for cake Friday in biology in April so that will be another batch to make. They have double biology last thing on Friday afternoon when they are all tired so the teacher suggested they have cake to keep them awake and motivated!
It's quiet in here tonight (or it was when I started typing! MIL phoned in the middle of typing so there could have been a party going on without me knowing!), the rowdy lot are out Prousting and dancing on the tables! Better watch out ladies they will be in late tonight looking for Donna kebabs and beer. Hope they don't leave too many empty bottles and crumbs!
Hope everyone has had a good day, Janet pat and Sue and Brenda hope you are all feeling a bit brighter tomorrow. First day of spring today so all being well it will start getting warmer.
See you all tomorrow. Night night sleep tight.
Love Diane xxx
SORRY - I didn't check that last statement. It should say - I really love it when you start your banter. Woops
ReplyDeleteBrenda, have I remembered correctly? Is your birthday November 8th? I think we share a birthday if that's the case. Xxxx
DeleteGosh Myra, yes it is the 8th Nov. what a memory you have.
DeleteI am sure I am the older one !!!!! LOL Brenda xxx
Hi Sandra and all the ladies
ReplyDeleteYour card is absolutely stunning ,Sandra, you should be very proud of it. Michele hope you enjoy your night out, the music should be great.
Cheryl your photo of the two of you is lovely, and I am so glad you had a good memory day with happy and funny thoughts yesterday.
Maureen hope you and George had a decent sleep last night and can relax a wee bit now.
Sam I hope you will be feeling better soon.
Littlelamb I bought the gift box die yesterday as well but I paid £18.99 no postage charge but got a bow and a tag die with it. Had a go today and it is great to make, was trying to work out if it could be made bigger.
Maureen I love Mrs Browns boys but being daft it took me a couple of programmes to work out she was a man.
Thank you all for my birthday wishes had a meal out on Wednesday and am getting a little party with the step grandchildren tomorrow when they are here.
Love and hugs Wendy xx
Wendy. If you can work making the bag bigger please let me know as I have tried!!! You will love it, but you have to use strong card 300 gms and over other wise the sides split. Have fun I have made so many of these I can partically do them in my sleep ( no Saba and Myra I don't craft in my bed, before you say anything) Hazel x
DeleteLooking forward to trying it as soon as the die or my wrist will let me. Will remember about the 300gm card. Hope you are having a good time.
DeleteHis everyone, just a quick visit, off to see grand-daughter in her dance show, not the usual ballet and tap, it is all modern dance, they call it NRG (energy). I wish I had half their energy. Catch up later, Jess x
ReplyDeleteHello everyone in the coffee shop.
ReplyDeleteNot much chance to see the eclipse here, too cloudy, but 10 minutes later we could see the sun. Oh well, I have seen one before, and it did get quite dark here.
Sandra, this is certainly a wow card. It is really pretty. That embossing folder looks extremely useful.
So glad your news is good, Maureen. Sure he will keep improving now.
I'm a fan of Mrs Brown too. That was my Hallowe'en costume a couple of years ago. Most people didn't recognise me, and then I went to the nursing home my Mum had been in, in the same costume. Despite being there almost daily for 3 years, even the staff were walking past me. They thought I was a new resident.
Might manage to pop in later. Went out for an Indian meal straight after work last night with a few friends so we had a good night with lots of laughs. We were the last to leave the restaurant.
See you later
Janice
Janice dear,
DeleteI love it, does that mean you looked like a man trying to look like a woman, or just an odd looking woman cussing and swearing like a navvy?
Are you going to our little soiree, you could get dressed up like that for Halloween again. I'm bringing something to wear - but I'll have to travel by coach or train, the broomstick won't take me as far as Birmingham!!!!!
Muriel xxx
Not sure, I just look like the odd looking woman at any time.
DeleteMaureen, my transport minister had been on the case and if you give we till I get home I will send what she has suggested to Sandra as e-mail and she can pass it on, but I think it will work and you will get down for under the £50 she first worked out. Hazel x
DeleteGood evening Sandra and all the lovely Coffee Shop Ladies.
ReplyDeleteSandra your card is stunning. Mmmm!!! love, love, love the embossing folder I feel a purchase coming on. Really like the idea of the Snake Skin one as well.
That's Hazel and I back in our room. Totally shattered, sore feet, sore legs, but still money left. Lots of shops closed down from my visit last year which is a bit disspointing. Don't know if we have have the energy to go far for something to eat later.
Hope all who have not been too good today have a relaxing evening and will have a better day tomorrow.
MAUREEN:- wishing Dave a good recovery and home in the near future.
Hope you and Goerge are coping.
Off to have a shower will call back later to see what the rebels are up to.
Hugs for all
Patricia xxx

Brenda, isn't nice when the OH can go and do the shopping on their own. That will never happening here, yes he is quicker but nothing of the items we usually buy is brought home so it's just best I going too hihi !

Where are our missing soldiers ? when you have a minute pop in and say Hi.
Dinners on the table, that's a joke, not very funny lol see you later,
Hugs Maria xx
Hi Maria,
DeleteHave you tried putting your dinner on plates, it's so much more civilised that way, and saves so much time because it's a bugger to get the table into the dishwasher!!
Muriel xx
Naaa here we don't use plates, that's only for posh people (like you) here we eat on the table and when finished we trough it over the back fence and buying a new one tomorrow lol I already said it was a joke, Muriel . Myra xx
DeleteHi Sandra
ReplyDeleteYour card is simply stunning. Did you enter the CE Challenge, you know you want to. Must have a look at that folder, it's stunning isn't it. Maureen, I hope you and George are coping, and that David gets better soon. Hazel and Patricia hope you have a lovely holiday. I to love Mrs Browns Boys. That's proper humour, and I love how things go wrong and they just laugh and carry on. I'm to old for all this new type of humour as I don't find any of the comedians funny. Sam I do hope your feeling better today, and special hugs to all those in need of one today. Take care everyone.
What a stunning design Sandra.
ReplyDeleteHugs Diane
Hi folks, just had our meal ...... our food was on "nice plates" rather than the "table"
ReplyDeleteGosh feeling the effects of all the walking ....... believe it or not PJs on. Sitting in my bed, got Hazels Mini Hot Water Bag at my feet for 1/2 then she wants it back........!!!! Hazel brings it with her to put on the bits of her legs that are sore,

Very quiet in here tonight...of course, it's Saturday!! Everyone is getting their false eyelashes glued on and heading out to the night club.
ReplyDeleteOK then, who's up for a cocktail? Or are we on the shots tonight?
Janice
Lets have the shots out as it's nearly Saturday ? I think ?
DeleteMaria, I love when Charlie does the shopping for one I hate shopping unless it's crafty stuff, but two he save us a fortune as he buys what we are needing and not the things that we don't need, the only down sde is I now have about 4 things of washing liquid and the same of dishwasher tablets.- they were on an offer, really how many folk does he thinks live in our house ??? Hazel x

Lynda,
DeleteHow on earth can you type with your fingers crossed? Now I call that really clever!!!!
Take care, look after yourself, and don't learn a new language between now and October!
Love Muriel xxxx
HI Lynda DB,
DeleteI hope you are getting back to full health, you will love that embossing folder, I got the animal print one too, I think its snakeskin!
Oh and I bought a few of the new packs of ribbon too!
I am going to be shopping for some of the sparkle mediums I think, I quite like the sparkly finish, only if put through a delicate folder, not keen on major bling, amongst other things, as always the list is endless! What else are you shopping for? I don't think there will be much shopping time, so many people to meet up with! I think I will have to have a plan, shop for an hour, chat for an hour and so on during the day, I think we will have to hijack a table just for us lot, nobody need ever know!
I am really looking forward to it!
Love and hugs
Sandra
xxxxxxx
Wakey, wakey Janice it's only FRIDAY
ReplyDeleteOoopps unless you gain a day when you fly to Belfast
Patricia xxx
Janice it's Friday!!! But hay ho I'm up for a cocktail SORRY I'm not into shots. You can have mine. LOL Brenda xxx
ReplyDeleteOh what's your favourite cocktail Brenda?
DeleteHi Sandra I'm only a wine drinker and dry white is my preferred choice. Very boring. lol
DeleteSame here Brenda! Xxx
DeleteCan we have shots of coffee ? or I go with Brenda.
DeleteRed wine always make my blood raise and I get a red nose, just like Rudolph lol
Sandra, I love, love your card. It's wow!!! Those colours and dies you have used are lovely. Hazel x
ReplyDeleteOk everybody, let's get the show on the road.
ReplyDeleteEclipse, what eclipse, there's been nothing in the newspapers or on the TV about it!!!. The children at school this morning weren't impressed, but then we went in to school and they watched the re-run on the TV and they thought it was great. All the oohing and aahing. So that's the secret, don't watch it live, watch it on the TV as it's more "realistic"!!!!
Myra, you are obviously a woman of means, you've got a COMPLEX, they are very expensive, we looked at some when we were on holiday but couldn't afford one. Also, when you and Saba are about I'm not saying much other than hello and goodbye. But then you know what they say "Little Words Mean a Lot". And you and Saba are so posh - you're both going out tonight, I remember going out once in 1972, I got drunk on one of those little bottles of Snowball - lightweight, that's me!!!!!
And how amazing that you share your Birthday with the lovely Brenda, we'll have to celebrate with double tea and cakes. Talking about Brenda, she can speak Double Dutch, so I'll have to avoid her as well. Actually, I'm going to avoid Brenda anyway, as she's into "bed into" lol!!!!
I just hope Mrs B has no fancy language under her belt or I'm in deep trouble - I'll see if Cheryl will help me out here - please say you only speak English!
Cheryl, I want to thank you for your lovely e-mail, I'm glad you remembered Pete so wonderfully, and the whisky story is wonderful.
Margaret, thank you as well, it means a lot to me.
Whilst I'm in the thanking mode, Sandra - you really are a special lady, and although I joke about, you know how much I admire and love you (and your family).
Littlelamb, I can hear you from Newcastle, as you walk along it's shake, rattle and roll!!
I'm sending love and hugs to everyone but especially Sam, Barbie Alison, Michele, Janet, Sheila and Nikki, oh everyone, the list goes on and you know I mean you all.
Do you think Patricia and Hazel are revived enough to go "On the Town".
One last thing, Wendy have you requested me on Google? I didn't recognise the surname so I've just left it there.
I don't know if you've seen my earlier post but the Doctors just say they are pleased with David and they are going to do more tests He should have had another scan today but they are going to do it over the weekend but he looks quite good, and his speech is fine, as far as we know his arm and leg will be ok. All the family are just so grateful for all the thoughts and prayers, thank you.
I'm going to jump (ha that's a laugh) into the bath and get my nightie on and relax with a good book.
We are babysitting tomorrow at Rachels, she's gallivanting with work colleagues to Durham, and Peter has been invited to an Executive Box at Newcastle United to watch the Match. They will no doubt play terribly, but at least he'll be well catered for. We've been asked to go on duty about 11.30 until 8pm, we'll see but I bet it's later!
See you tomorrow ladies, and thank you all again. Sandra, special thanks for your wonderful blog - I can't wait for October, even though I probably won't be speaking!!!!
Love Muriel xxxxx
Maureen, I thought as a " nanny" I worked some hours and that's my job. But you as a granny work 10 times more? Hours than I do and oh boy I am worn out by a Friday, did Saturday's when the girls were little and I was away all over the place with them and mummy. She would be speaking at conferences on the Thursday/ Friday travel back Saturday,, but we could be in Madrid, Berlin, Lake Constance or just Harrogate but I didn't complain as I spent the days sight seeing these beautiful cities. Also no premier inns on these trips 5 star plus.getting a good salary. Was always a come down when we went on holiday and stayed in travellodges or if lucky Best Westerns? Now those days have gone,,more the pity as the girls would enjoy these things more. Many a buggy has be lost by British Airways, trying carrying a small child and all their gibbons across Heathrow because the buggy was still in Madrid or some where, I think they replaced rather than find and return. Plus not only to you do the child care you help at the school, what do you have for breakfast as I think I need to start having the same??? But enjoy your time with the girls, is it crafting or just letting them do their own thing??? Hazel x
DeleteHi Maureen, do you remember the Babycham with the little Bambi on the glass or Cherry B? were they real drinks? always so sweet, but in those days ladies didn't really go getting 'off their heads' on a weekend did they, they had a Babycham in a little glass with a cherry on a stick, how very refined!
DeleteI am afraid an early shower, 'pj's on' and ready to relax, snuggled up to Paul on the sofa is a perfect night for me these days, the dread of getting ready to go out brings on a headache, 'what shall I wear' or 'what still fits' as its usually months since the last time we went out!
So I'm with you on that on.
Have fun with the babysitting tomorrow night, I am sure George would rather be sat at the hospital mind, I hope you are both getting more sleep!
Anyway Paul has just brewed up so I am off to get it while its hot!
love and hugs
Sandra
xxxxxxx
Maureen/Muriel Yes I pressed some buttons but its the 1st time I have done that so I haven't a clue what I joined or what iv'e done, no doubt I will find out.
DeleteWendy x
Oh heck, I have another day to work!! That's my friends fault for asking us out for dinner on a Thursday. On the positive side, I have gained a day, so that's a plus.. Still up for a drink though, it's been a long week, and just got longer. Don't worry, I don't do shots either. I prefer my drink to last longer and taste better.
ReplyDeleteJanice
Maureen. We will leave the going out on the town to the young ones, we are to tired for that and is an early bed .sorry night for us, I think Patricia is asleep already? Off to refill the water bottle. Hazel x
ReplyDeleteNight night Patricia and Hazel, sounds like you have crammed loads into your first day! Hope you're not too sore tomorrow and your feet don't ache too much. How on earth would you have fitted your welly boots into your hand luggage?! I usually wear my walking boots but you have to take them off at security!
ReplyDeleteSleep tight ladies
Love Diane xxx
Well, helloooooo ! Anybody home? I have just come in and I knew my ears were burning!
ReplyDeleteSo, Maureen you're not going to talk in October - I should abandon that thought right now! It would kill you to keep quiet.
Brenda - I thought it was you who shared my birthday. I will be 68 this year but
I'm still 67 !! Last week I felt about 90 !
Hazel and Patricia - great photo by the way! I love it. So pleased you had a good day but also relieved you decided against going out on the town in your PJ's.
Janice I'm so glad you now know it's Friday - as you say - you've gained a day!
I could be rambling here to myself so I'll wait and see if anyone is up!
Sweet dreams to those already tucked up!
Love Myra xxx
I am glad you're still 67 ,Myra, I was 68 yesterday but at times still feel 28, at other times 108. Have been making bags with that new die, also have a brandy at my side so its quite relaxing.
DeleteWendy xx
Hi Wendy! I know what you mean ! Sometimes I get shock when I see my reflection in a shop window! I don't feel old most of the time! Very fortunate , in many ways but the high heels have had to come off tonight as soon as I got home! Pride is a terrible thing! Lol. The bags go together really easily don't they. I forgot to mention the bow and tag! Shhh , don't tell but I have a glass of wine now as I was the driver tonight and was good!
DeleteMyra xxx
Sorry girls I am still the grandma I was born in 1942 OK I still think I am 16 isn I do not. Subscribe to the oap era . I have a lot of living to do.l
DeleteThat's the spirit Brenda! I don't think anyone on this blog thinks of herself as old! Some names I could mention are not even mature! Xxx
DeleteI have just noticed that Maria signed Myra on one earlier post! Come out, you're spied, young lady! Xx
DeleteHi Brenda. I am another Brenda born in 1942 and if your birthday is November then I must be older as mine is January:-)
DeleteHihi I'm still here are you ?
DeleteYes Maria! I am just relaxing before bed as it's been quite a day. Who's been causing mischief then ! Now they will think I'm talking to myself! Lol xxx
DeleteOops ! I seem to have inadvertently started an age war! Xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm 28 like Wendy how funny is that, oops my nose just grow, help
Deletenope I guess you all gone to bed so I think a Mrs Brown or Father Brown is on the cards
wish you all a good night, Maria xx
Night night! Fellow Owl! Sleep well.
DeleteGod Bless,
Myra xxx
No. Just realised that earlier it was mentioned that Brenda's birthday was in November and mine is January. Don't really want to be the eldest here.:-)
ReplyDeleteIt's ok you're not! Maureen is 96 ! Xxx
ReplyDeleteDid your nose just grow too ? Oh sorry didn't see it said Muriel
DeleteNatti natt! xx
Right you lot, I have just got got home and I don't have a clue what you are all on about.. Hi Brenda I'm another Brenda???? is that a code or something. Maureen is 96!!!! How on earth are we to get her to the retreat. And Myra has started a war?? Well that's the last time I am going out, you can't be left alone for two minutes. I expect you are all in bed now and I am speaking to myself. Nothing new there then, gets ever so lonely being an expat. Sniff sniff.xxx
ReplyDeleteI meant Brenda Lello and Littlelamb (Another Brenda). It is confusing late at night.
ReplyDeleteBrenda, Brenda, it doesn't take much to confuse me lol. Xxx
DeleteOh don't cry there there! I haven't started a real war! Don't worry about Maureen - worry about me when she reads what i said!
ReplyDeleteDid you have a nice evening.?
Xxx
Myra, Maureen is going to kill you, I hope you realise that? I had a lovely evening thank you very much and I hope you did too, but we take wars very seriously here I'll have you know.
ReplyDeleteYou would not believe what we were discussing. Arthur Scargill and Margeret Thatcher. Honestly, it got a bit heated, me being pro Margaret. And when I mentioned they could stuff their Euro well, they did get get a bit uppity. My husband despairs of me. Xxx
Oops! Sounds like you had an interesting evening! Wow! Arthur Scargill,Margaret Thatcher and the Euro! Any of the above is an emotive subject , but, all three!
DeleteI know Maureen will probably kill me! I just couldn't help it! I've been so good all night. On my best behaviour all evening. Poor Maureen - she also said she wasn't going to talk in October apart good morning and pass the toast please, but I felt that was dreaming an impossible dream! xxx
Yes it was an interesting evening, and as for Maureen not talking, well, pigs might fly. Didn't realise we got toast. Love toast. Loved Margaret too. Didn't like Arthur very much, but quite liked the the power cuts, gave me a lovely daughter.!!!
DeleteI admired Margaret! She was a strong lady and the BBC have been so cruel. I , too, remember the power cuts and the hospitals which weren't cleaned! We were going in to clean so called non- clinical areas as Patients were being moved on trolleys from Operating Theatres through the most dreadful mess in corridors. We were told we couldn't use the equipment as it belonged to the Union! That's ok - we'll take our own! They backed down. It was awful. As for Mr Scargill - just not a fan! Xxx
Deletelol it's nice when they let you out from time to time ,isn't ? Hope you had a nice time, did you have warthog again ?
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about Muriel, she be the easiest one to get to Birmingham. Just put her on the broom she always carting around and she can fly ,do you think she got a black cat ? you know the ones I mean lol Sorry ,shouldn't make fun of somebody when they can't answer back, no hurt feelings I hope.
No one will read this anyway,I guess you all really this time have gone to bed so I 'm saying Auf wiedersein and God natt xx
Maria, I think you will find that everyone reads this.!!! And I am not sure if
ReplyDeleteGod natt is Swedish but I like it. Lots. Made me laugh. Lots.
Xxx
Maria, I've learned a new language! Now Maureen will be really cross!
DeleteXxx
I have just looked at the clock. It is very very late here.so I am reluctantly going to bed. I would love to stay and chat, but would deeply regret it in the morning. What am I talking about, it is morning!! So my dears, it's time to go. Love and hugs, goodnight God bless, see you tomorrow. Saba xxx
ReplyDeleteNight Night! I have four grand children arriving for lunch tomorrow!
