Guest Designer Lucy!!!!!!!

Good Monday Morning Ladies,
Just look at this amazing Mother's Day card that my Beautiful Daughter Lucy made for me, all by herself!  She even used 'Dusty Concorde' to add shading to the die cuts! Just listen to her, it just goes to show when the come into my craft room after school to tell me all about their day they do take in what I am doing, having said that they do always ask why I am doing something and what things are for! I was so amazed at how everything co-ordinated so well.  She did tell me I could retire now and she would take over!
Do you know the nicest thing about her making this card was how excited she was to show me, she was literally on a high all Saturday night and came bounding in to our bedroom yesterday morning to give it to me, I could have cried!
I did feel sorry for Sophie though, she has had some terrible virus since Wednesday, terrible
headaches nausea and terrible upset tummy, every sip of water went straight through her, this was right up until Saturday night, anyway she looked like a ghost she was so white, she came down Saturday night and was trying to secretly look back through the blog to find Saba's instructions to make a bag, but she couldn't work it out bless her, I told her I would sit and show her when she is better, anyway she got up yesterday morning, came in with Lucy to give me the card (that lucy had added Sophie's name to) she then asked me to cup my hands and she photographed them.
The result of which I will post tomorrow. Anyway I hade a lovely day, I had chocolates, flowers and money to spend at Ally Pally. We had a trip out to a garden centre/craft shop in the afternoon and then everyone home for roast dinner, cooked by Paul of course, we had the usual extra child (Josh), who is Becca's boyfriend of the last 3 years, bless him he is a lost soul as his dad had a heart attack while working with Josh on Friday morning, he and his dad have a very close bond and you can see the pain in his eyes bless him, the are operating to put stents in tomorrow, its the one where they go up through your vein in your groin and wrist I think |Josh said,  so I will be thinking about them tomorrow. Major lifestyle changes needed there i'm afraid.
Right Ladies, Patricia and Hazel are hoping to fly down later on this year, probably to the Birmingham area (to be central to all of us) and we are hoping to organise a big meet up weekend, we need to decide whether to do hotel or maybe look at renting a cottage/house/bungalow, so it would be good to find out who would be interested in joining us and any suggestions you might have.
I have to say I am so very excited, I can't tell you.  Obviously we want it to be as cost effective as possible to make it accessible to everyone (even us poor relations)!
So please let us know if you would be interested, I want you all to come!
Well I must go,I need a cup of tea, its all the excitement!
Love and Hugs

    2. Good morning Sandra, and all those who come in today.
Lucy what a fabulous card you made for your mum, I can see you will be taking over mums craft room a lot in the future! Not sure if she will be 100% happy, you know what mums are like? ( their little space). You were very thoughtful to let Sophie share, I know you are twins and do share a lot, but sometimes sisters do not respect each other enough.. Are you the artist too? Any way your card is gorgeous, love the colours and your design and layout. Well done for taking time out to make your card, they are more valuable as they are full of love. Hazel x

  2. Morning Sandra,

Wow! What a stunning card Lucy has made, you have some competition there. I hope poor Sophie is feeling a little better today.

Sounds great about meeting up in Birmingham, would love to come but can only make it on a weekend and would need to know the dates. Premier Ins are usually quite cheap but obviously if you want to be waited on then it would have to be a hotel lol! Would this be just us gals or hubbies too? Sorry to throw this at you as I am sure nothing has been arranged yet lol!

    Have a great day

  4. Jacquie, it would be a weekend, as a lot of people would find it hard to come, between those who work and the ones that work looking after grand children. I think at the moment it's a kind of open as we don't know every ones situation. The premier inn is good but we are worried about the noise levels of us lot and other quests, a large holiday home is not ruled out either, as long as it had disabled acess, once we see how many are interested then it might be easier. It looks like there are 3 of us from up here coming . I don't think crafting might get done but then again it would be get fun to have a little project ? It's a case of wait and see, we are talking more the end of October beginning November, that way most folk would have time to save. Hazel xx

Morning Everyone - Usual Latte please. Lucy you are one talented young lady. Obviously you have your Mum's crafting genes. Your card is just wonderful and I love everything about it.I think it's a 'watch out Mum. A craft take-over' is in the pipeline.
I'm sorry to hear that Sophie has been and is poorly. This virus is really taking control all over the country and it's an absolute stayer being very difficult to get rid of it.
Sam - I'm sorry you're not too good at the moment. You take care.
Steph - hope your treatment worked and that you're now ready to come in for a morning cuppa.
Norah - hope you're OK young lady. It would be nice to see you.

We have started the count down to going to Marigny. We're off 2 weeks today and so the usual routine has started eg Jim and his usual quotes eg 'we (being the royal we) must get the ferry booked. We're not taking a load of stuff this time etc etc. We're only going for 4 weeks this time and coming back on April 27th because if the work for putting in new filters and inspection holes for the grey water hasn't been done the builder will need to do it and if we're there it will be difficult as water needs to be off and the path from the back gate and the front drive all need digging up etc. I'm dreading what will be needed re putting everything back in place when it's all done. This year will definitely be an 'outside work' year.

That was a lovely cuppa so I'm off now to wait for Mr Tesco and trying out a thought for a take on an 'Izzy' bag. See you later.
My hugs are in the basket by the door as usual.

Thanks for popping in bad for the lovely comments too.
You must get quite excited when you get to two weeks and counting, it will be so lovely to have you on here so that we can have even more lengthy descriptions of your French CountryLife, we Dan picture you there now too with having see the photos, you must get some of the inside too, so we can have the image of you sat at the kitchen table chatting to us, goodness me I feel like I will miss you already, but it won't really get any different (just me being soft)!
Well I guess it's time for you to find your bags and suitcases that have secret compartments so that you can hide your crafty stash! You must have to take a everything as they don't have craft shops like we do do they?
Do you think you would get able to join in with this weekend meet up later this year I would so love for you to be there too! Although we were hoping that you could knock up a super quick extension so that we could all come an stay with you, that would be heaven!

  12. ANNOUNCEMENT !!!!
    Good morning ladies,
We have all been talking about how lovely it would be to have a weekend somewhere to meet up and get to know each other and have fun!
Well last night Hazel & Patricia said that they would be able to fly down to the midlands later this year, maybe late October, Early November, we were talking about suggestions for accommodation, I think that if we could get a cottage / house to rent for a weekend would work better as we wouldn't have to worry about noise, time constraints or anything else.
I had a quick look yesterday and found one place that isn't too far from Birmingham, on first glance it looks expensive but if enough of us were going, the cost split between us all would not be more expensive than staying in a hotel, the other issue with hotels is finding somewhere for us all to sit and chat for hours on end, have so little look at this place, it even has a downstairs twin room for disabled guests!
    Have a look at Woodendfarm.info
Let me know what you think, which idea, accommodation you would prefer.
We will look at keeping the costs as low as possible to make it accessible for everyone.
Please comment below if you think you might be seriously interested in joining us, the more the merrier, I am so stupidly excited you would never believe it.

However if I could help by taking others I'd be happy to do that too. The house looks gorgeous but I just throw in a question - is it so far as bedrooms are concerned - suitable for lots of people . The public rooms are ideal , just not sure if there are enough bedrooms. One sleeps 4 I think which is fine if you are a teenager or one of four sisters but ! Sorry to be a wee bit negative but I think we need to think about these things too.

Firstly thank you for your interest in meeting up, it has got me really excited!

I hope the blood test is straight forward and that you don't have to wait too long for the results.

  15. Hello Sandra,
I think Lucy's card is gorgeous. The design and colours are a perfect match - you'll have to watch out, she'll be in your room more than you will!!
I'm just a little bit excited at the thought of meeting up with all the sisters on the blog - just a little!!!! It was the last thing I was talking about to George last night and the first thing I thought about this morning. The girls (Eleanor and Zoe) think it's a great idea - so that's all right then.
    Right - here we go,
Sam, I am really sorry you are feeling poorly.
Michele, got everything crossed for you and hubby.
Sandra, so sorry to read about Josh's father.
Janet, my S I L and B I L go by the tunnel to France on 28th of this month, how do you travel.
    Are you ready?;-
Crinkle Head loved animals and birds, in fact he loved them so much that he shared his food with them. Human beings, he could barely tolerate and would not stay in the same place where another person was living.
He would come to the Presbytery and never wanted money (to spend in the "Real Ale" shop opposite), but would ask if he could have his old Lemonade bottle filled with milky tea and a couple of jam sandwiches. The bottle of tea served two purposes, it was liquid to drink and on a cold day it was put inside his clothes to be a hot water bottle. The sandwiches he would sit and eat in the park which was next to the house and shared with the birds and any cats or dogs which appeared.
The Sally Army volunteers and the people from the Soup Kitchen all tried to get him to stay overnight in the Sally Army Palace, but he wouldn't. Didn't like to be with other people.
He died over 20 years ago this week, and I still think about him. He was always lovely, gentle and sweet natured to me +.

  17. Oh Sandra,
I'm so very sorry, forgot to say that I hope Sophie soon recovers. I know it's a horrible virus that is going around.
I'll be travelling from God's Country - Newcastle upon Tyne - which is a City and a County in it's own right. At least it was for hundred's of years but I'm not sure if the last Government, or the one before who altered all the boundaries and made us Tyne and Wear from Northumberland, also changed
the status of our City (does that make sense).

I have no idea where I shall be travelling from, but feel I need to mention, Yorkshire, is not only a county but also a Kingdom blessed by God as his own and we still have a King. Now he may be dead, however, he is ours and we want, nay, we demand his return. We dug up a few vilkings in a York car park and if need be we'll do a swap.

I hope Maureen doesn't find too many dead bodies in car parks to trade , we don't want to be visiting her in prison do we!

  19. Hello Sandra,
I love Lucy's card, everything coordinates so well.she really is a very talented young lady. I can feel her excitement and your thrill of receiving this beautiful card, such a wonderful memorable moment for you both. Sorry to hear Sophie has been so poorly I hope she will be feeling better soon. This virus is so debilitating Poor love she's going to need building up as well. But then in your house TLC is always there in abundance
Sorry to read about Josh's dad, this happened to a cousin of mine and it really has changed his life everything is at a much slower pace now. But on the positive side he still with us and that's a godsend,
I need to check the dates for the retreat. Daughter No 1 has asked us to babysit/house it and I think it's about that time.
Well must get on sending you all big crafty hugs, love Brenda XXX

  20. Good morning Sandra and all the coffee shop crew
Wow Lucy what a truly beautiful card you have so kindly made for your Mum, the colours you have used are super and the way you have designed your card is just wonderful. how thoughtful to share the card with your poorly sister. I am quite sure this card will be something you Mum will always treasure, well done sweetheart, you should be very proud of yourself.
Sandra I would love to come to the weekend and thanks for your email, my only doubt would be the travel, living in Cumbria where we do there are no airports, so it would be a question of how to travel and if it was by rail there can be delays and cancellations due to work on the tracks at weekends (we have friends who work for various rail companies so know this can be a big problem at weekends)
How will Maureen/Muriel be coming will she be flying from Newcastle as that may be a possibility for me to travel over to the North East, perhaps even Saba could fly into Newcastle and then onwards from there that would perhaps be easier for her. Lots of variations but would really love to come, if at all possible, but don't fancy hitch hiking and having to show a leg on the M6!!!
Oh this is going to make for some major organising and heart flutterings as we all get excited but one good thing we have plenty of time to get organised. No doubt the sooner we are organised the sooner we can book for the cheapest fares however we all travel.
There is one thing for sure this blog is going to be red hot for the next few months!
We have had our corgi Tomas back to the vets for a check on his eye, it is almost healed so the vet is delighted and so are we, as the next step if it had not healed is not at all nice.
My basket of hugs and cuddles are over in Norah's corner help yourselves.
    Will be calling back later.
    With love

  22. Hi Sandra and all,
Coffee and a scone please, Sorry I went off earlier this morning I started to write E-mails to people I haven't seen for ages. Some we meet on holiday's and still in contact with so finding a place for us all at the Cotswold's cafe' to get together sounds great. I can easily get to Birmingham but would need a lift or taxi to get to the house /hotel etc. How many of us are meeting up soon at A P ?
Your Mother days card is Beautiful ! Well done Lucy. Tihi it want take long before she is taking over the craft room and you end up in the kitchen like me lol Hope Sophie getting better soon and Josh's dad get the treatment he need. Are your girls coming to Alexander Palace with you and Paul ?
Sam you take it easy and Norah I hope you getting better too.
I missing Patwyn too, hope she is ok.
Janet, you have a fabulous time at your French Chatau and would love some pictures of the inside too, like Sandra saying we can then see you in our minds where you sitting and doing your crafting and your Jim coming through the door with a freshly baked stick for Lynda to borrow tihi. our Wendy is going away for a long time, maybe a chance we could meet up at her place in Spain ?
Didn't go swimming this morning ,still feeling a bit shaky and achy and the painkillers doing nothing but waited for my OH to do his workout so we could go shopping after. Sainsbury's sent us £12 off if you spend £60 so we must use it the next four weeks. I also looked at their clothes and some of them was nice but it seems like the 50th is back and not really my stile as I'm a big 'lady' it wouldn't suit me. It was talk yesterday about ironing etc. and I hate it. When Rick was working it was a lot of shirts to do but now when he is retired it's jeans and t-shirts that works for both of us and actually when I'm at home I wear my trusted old pair of comfy's with glue and stuff after crafting and my doggy slippers, they look like little black Scottie's lol are we going to see some pet posting in the future ?
I'm going to try to do a card for a five year old girl so shouldn't be such a problem but knowing myself it will take hours. My head is full of idea's but can never make it on to the card. I even bought a craft magazine today with a cute chicken stamp so just maybe ..............
see you later Hugs Maria xx

Sandra - Lucy's card is gorgeous. The design is just lovely and her attention to detail is amazing! Well done Lucy on two counts - the lovely card and the sharing with your sister. That was a lovely touch!
Hope Sophie feels much better soon! Sophie - I had that bug last week and it isn't nice at all.

The jam sandwiches, which I didn't wrap up the first time, were placed in his coat pockets. The coat was lovely, thickly encrusted with Lord knows what, and I don't want to think about!! After seeing what he did the first time, I always wrapped them in greaseproof paper before handing them over.
I hope that answers your questions satisfactorily!

That's the house all Ship Shape, bedding, washed, dried (in the tumble)! all ironed and put away. . Dark load done and away, cleaning, dusting and vacuuming all done as well. Shattered now, I need that cuppa.
Quite a few are up for the "Craft Retreat" that's absolutely brilliant. Sandra the house you found looks amazing and would be fine if it is Twin Rooms. Don't like the idea of 3 or 4 having to share a room. Different if we all really knew each other. We really need to get definte number before we go forward with bookings.
Hazel & I are 2 Definitea count us in.
    How is Sophie this afternoon??

  29. Hi Patricia,
Sophie is fine today, she went to school, so she must have felt better. She is still on a very light diet still though.
The house I found last night was on the first search of property's valise to Birmingham, I am not saying it had to be that particular one, as nice as it looked, I wouldn't expect anyone to share a bed with someone they didn't know, we will have to see if anywhere has all twin beds, I think it will be unlikely but we should be able to get the right mix, I was thinking maybe we could get the locations of everyone that wants to come, and plot them on a map and find a central location that way, maybe also those that will find it too expensive could come visit for the day, that way it is accessible to everyone. So we will have to have a list of both names and location.\
What do you think? Do we think that the rental property is the best option, I think that hotel would throw up the challenge of where and when we could all sit together for hours at a time, a conference room wouldn't be to comfortable, I guess there is enough of us to find that perfect gem, are you still going to fly into Birmingham?
Paul confirmed at lunch that he is fine with doing the airport run! \
    Love and hugs

Sandra, I hope that Sophie is feeing a bit better. I've been meaning to ask after Becca, is she a bit more settled after that awful night?
Patricia, I would say that I'm probably a definite, but then again I would say anything. (Only kidding, yes I'm a definite, even if I have to sell George's body to fund the trip). He can look after himself very well food wise. He would never starve. Washing, ironing and cleaning - don't make me laugh. He could be knee deep in crumbs and never notice - and chair backs were made for the sole purpose of keeping one's coat on, don't cha know. I spend my life moving them.

How clever is that Lucy. Just when you think they are ignoring you and not taking any notice. Up pops Lucy with a card. Might start a family business. I haven't read through all the blog yet as someone keeps popping in or emailing me on my IPad. Sandra guess what my Sue bought herself at the weekend, an Ipad, so now she wants to find out how it all works. She's driving me mad. She'll end up having it first and Pete and I copied her. Anyway a weekend away sounds great, might take a bit of organising though. Poor Pete's just finishing washing up, he's been doing it in between Emmerdale and Coronation St. Physio tomorrow as well as Drs today. Amy has an induction day at the Mini Plant on Wed, so I think I'll show him where it is on the way back. She hoping to be taken on as a designer, which her boyfriend is already doing. I think this is just a day for them to look her over, have tests etc. she already had to do three tests this included a maths test. Matty her boyfriend said to use a calculator but she wouldn't. Pete will have to pick her up about 1.00. I'll now go and have a read back at the comments.

Well I have emptied the dish washer and swept up, oh some people have made a lot of crumbs today, but they are all swept up, I am pleased to report there are no puddles, and we are clean and tidy ready for tomorrow, unless there are some late revellers!
    Bye for now

    1. Hazel, when I reply to say thank you for your efforts I am ridiculed by some! Royalty has gone their head! I would like to say it all sounds absolutely lovely. Waited on hand and foot - sounds great! Seriously that is a very good price and a good choice on the menu. Two nights are probably necessary I think as we are travelling a fair distance - some more than others . I'm happy! Myra xxx

  55. Oh, I am so pleaed you seem to like it, I thought it was a good deal and the manager replied to my first e-mail,within 30 mins and second with prices again 30 mins. That in itself show me he is on the ball. I said the weekend of the 30th Oct - 1 St nov, but that was just to give him an idea. It's a good weekend I fell but please say what you think? He even offered a room to craft in if needed, they do a lot of these kind of weekends I think. Tammy younger daughter gave me the idea, she organises there trip to " the Hard Rock Hell" weekend for a group like us that live all over the country. But ok my head is buzzing thinking it all out. I blamed all this to the nurse today when my blood pressure was up. Hazel x

Hazel, that sounds fab. Thank you so much for working so hard on our behalf. After reading the menu, just order me 6 of everything ha ha!!!!
Just finished packing the last of the toiletries, and only got my shoes to sort out and that's it. I'm ready. Where is the hotel, what dates and how do we pay. Should we book up separately or block book.? As you can see I am not at all bothered about this!!!
Saba, my grandfather was a Master Butcher with umpteen butchers shops, owned half of the City centre and was a Freeman of the City. He used to go to the quayside and buy scrawny cattle and graze them on the town moor. When they were fattened up, he slaughtered them and made loads of dosh. Unfortunately, he drank most of his money away and died in 1926 from alcoholic poisoning. Such is life.
