Sunday Sweetness from Guest Designer Maureen !!!!!

Good Sunday Morning Ladies,
Pinch punch first of the month!
I can't believe its March Already!!!
Well I will still be in bed when you read this, well if its before 10am at least!
I had the very best day yesterday, many thanks to my long suffering husband,
my lovely friend Sue for accompanying us and making it fun,
also to Pat & Sue and Brenda and Diane too for making the day even more special
My day was  made super special as I got to meet Christine Emberson, who I have followed
for some years now, we have shared a lot of emails, but there is nothing liking meeting
in person to seal and friendship, both Sue and I were delighted to spend time chatting with
Christine, it was lovely to catch up.
Now then today's cards (a double treat) from our very own
Maureen!!!
How gorgeous are these two cute images, coloured perfectly too,
I can see the top card is a Lily Of the Valley Stamp and
Below is the very popular and stunning Gorjuss Girl, so pretty and perfect for
any young lady, I am hoping that Maureen will call in and update us sometime today.
Thank you Maureen for Sharing these beautiful cards.
Well there is some nasty weather on the way, frost and wintry showers and really
strong winds, so please stay safe everybody.
I would just like to thank you all for keeping the Cotswold Café running smoothly
in my absence, I was delighted to see so many comments when I got home,
it was the perfect end to a lovely day!
I did leave you all a message last thing yesterday I hope you got to read it.
Love and Hugs
Sandra

    1. Hi Jacquie,
Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting, I had a lovely day yesterday, I met some lovely ladies from our blog which was a total pleasure, I did of course get to meet a long time friend Christine Emberson, all I can say is that she us the most beautiful person, inside and out, kind, caring, truly inspirational and funny are words that could only begin to describe what an amazing person she really is. Not sure if you have ever been but it's a well organised show.
      Love & hugs

  2. Morning Sandra. I was so pleased that you got to meet Christine yesterday and that you had a lovely day. Enjoy your lie in and take things very easy today, don't worry about the coffee shop we'll help ourselves, re stock the cake, and do the tidying up as we go.
Maureen, your cards are lovely, I love how you've stamped the branches on the corner of the card and the topper.
Thank you all for the support yesterday, see you later. Sue xxx

  3. Morning everyone, Im suprised to see the bay tree still standing after the gales we had last night !
Glad you all had a lovely day yesterday, hope you felt a little better Sandra, bet just being there took your mind off feeling pants. The thing that makes more happy us that you all managed to meet up. That must have been SO very special. Years ago when I was diagnosed with arthritis I set up a group on MSN called Diagnosed Arthritis ? This blog reminds me of those days, there must have been 100 + people from all over and we got so close. I organised a meet up North (we lived in Bham at the time) it was really emotional, we had two girls travel from Canada for our gathering, I cant tell you how amazing it was, I hired a room at the most beautiful hotel we all stayed at, had the most lush spread, an expensive weekend, but oh so worth it. So reading about you meeting up for the first time really made me smile and I cant tell you how happy I am, its something that will stay with you for a very long time.
Im looking forward to going to my first craft show, we have a few up here and there is one in May, so my daughter told me, so I need to start saving. I cant wait to read the list of goodies you all bought.

Maureen - yet another talanted lady, they are both beautiful. In fact after looking at your second card, you have convinced me I NEED to invest in some Gorjus items as I dont have enough to make cards for the 'older' young ladies, so I dont know whether to thank you Maureen or sigh at you lol in a friendly way you understand, as now I have something else to put on my 'to do' list for March Market !! May have to leave it for April market as I dont have much time to fit in Easter cards let alone 'extra's !! But both cards are beautiful and cant wait to see more of your lovely work.
Hope you had a really lovely birthday Janet and look forward to reading all about it.
I must admit I find it hard to keep up with everyone that walks into this little coffee shop (are you thinking of an extention) so forgive me for not visiting more often, I think if I was to pop in every hour Id still miss someone or something !
Well, my latte was beautifu and that cream horn was a delight, Ive left my money in the box, and will try to pop in later to enjoy the excitement of hearing about your day yesterday, want to read allll about it please.
Have a restful day Sandra you must be feeling it by now, it will be easier to say where you dont hurt lol been there got the tee shirt, but hey, worth it and tomorrow will be a better day.
Love n hugs to all that follow.

    1. Hi my lovely,
Thank you for popping in this blustery Sunday morning, wouldn't it be great to organise a big old Cotswold cafe meet up, maybe it's something we could thing about for sometime in the future, I know it would be a huge challenge but I would definitely be up for it! I would appreciate your input Steph as you have been involved in setting up something before. I can recommend the Gorjuss girl images, they really do fill that gap in the market, also they are often reduced now as they Santoro who Gorjuss belongs too have bought out a new character, I thinks it's Do Crafts or Papermania that sell them.
You will have to tell Andy to keep a good hold of four paws today, he may end up like a kite, if the wind is as bad up there as it is here!
I am going to go and sit and play at making some stick pins today, by the way I didn't see anyone selling those things yesterday, I really didn't spend very much as I was saving for Ally Pally, the only reason I wanted to go to that show I particular was to meet Christine, so the few crafty bargains I did get were a bonus, I managed to get a couple of packs of Anna Marie Designs New Paper, it was a pleasure to meet her too, such a wonderfully cheerful lady, her stand is just a stunning display of prettyness! The new colours are delicious, I don't know why I call it paper as it's card, I got some linen looking card and the dotty of course! I got some more of their 300gsm stamping card too, in white and cream, a lovely little book from Pink Frog Crafts showing you how to turn your die cut flower petals into different flowers in step by Step guide, so simple and yet so genius! I totally recommend it and it was only £3.50 ! I also got a few cheap packs of flowers and restocked my adhesive pearls of course, I looked for a new Guillotine but after speaking to Christine, she suggested I spoke to the Tonic representative who was extremely helpful, she explained to Paul his to tighten the blade which may be the cause of the problem, I hope so as that's nearly £30 saved! My guillotine is my most used tool .
Sending you warm hugs, my lovely,

  4. Good morning Sandra and all the Coffee Shop ladies.
Sorry I have not been in since Friday ..... busy, busy here at the Ranch.
Sandra I am delighted you had a good day meeting up with all those friends. It's a fantastic feeling to put faces to the names you see in your virtual Coffee Shop or on your personal Blog. Hazel and I have managed to meet a few super people over the past couple of years.
Maureen your cards are beautiful, I use the LOTV image they always come up Trumps for men/boys cards. The Gorjus image is so sweet and beautifully coloured. Don't have any of those ... Mmmm!! might need to look out for some when Hazel & I go to Glasgow next weekend.
Sorry can't stay, lots to tick off my list today.
Stay warm and snug, look after yourself

Can you organise and take photos as Scottish representatives of the Cotswold Cafe, you could have your own Scottish corner meet up!
I am very jealous as I would love to met you all myself, but I think that Paul might draw the line at driving to Glasgow just after driving to Farnborough! We definitely need to find a central location!
Anyway I won't hold you up as you are obviously busy, I hope you have a very productive day and get all the chores ticked off! Unfortunately my legs are all but useless today! :(

And To All My Friends In The Cafe
Could I please have a Weak Latte and a Toasted Teacake that would go down well this morning.
First I would like to say a huge Thank You to you All for your extremely kind comments yesterday about my Card, I Love Colouring with a passion.
Sandra I'm thrilled you had a good day at "The Farnbourgh Show" and met Christine I know I e-mail Sue occasionally not all the time but she's always kind enough to e-mail back, it was wonderful when we met she treated me like a long lost friend, which I'm sure she does with all of us.
    Maureen:
Today's Cards are just Outstanding, Just So Very Beautiful I really Love "The Lili Of The Valley" Stamp I have this one, and many more of there's as I live near Leeds and I visit The Shop often it's like an Aladdin's cave.
I Love how you've created the Clouds it was Bev Rochester that shared the tip on her Blog, she has shown how the Clouds could printed out so I printed it out and then I use Brushes to create the Clouds.
The Gorjuss Stamp I've never Purchashed any of these I Love how you've created The Highlights in her Hair and I noticed you go round your image in pale grey to make it pop what Pens do you use Maureen. I'm in Awe of any one that can create Beautiful Hair and make it look shiny I'm not good at that as much as I try You've got it perfect.
I Love your Cards they are truly Fabulous I'm so enjoying seeing everyone's Creations. I'm working on a Card with a "Lili Of The Valley Stamp" at present and I promise to get a better close up than last time.
Sandra I do hope your feeling much better you take great.
I Hope you all have a great day

Thank you so much for stopping in today, is the weather as blustery there as it is Oxfordshire? I am not sure your gorgeous boys will be too bothered about going out in this weather! They will be like kites! Maybe let Lyndon take them today!
Your card was gorgeous yesterday, your card composition was fab too, the Lily of the Valley stand is just so amazing at the shows isn't it?! So inspirational, I could easily buy all of their stamps, their paper pads too but they are a little expensive, I did want them all though! Sue (mrs B) and I were all but drooling over them!
I keep in touch with Sue by email too, but there is nothing like meeting them is there?,
Did you at you were coming to Ally Pally? I do hope so!
Well I am going to have a play with some of my new craft bits and pieces!

  6. Two beautiful cards on display today. Everyone that went to the show at Farnborough sounds like the had a good time. It must have been great to meet Christine Emberson, she always seems like a lovely lady on her blog & the few times she's been on TV. I had the honour of meeting Sue Wilson two years ago in Florida as we stay fairly close (in American terms) to where she stays-another lovely lady.

Right-had my tea+ toast, thanks. Best get dressed & start my chores as the sooner they're done the sooner I can start crafting!

Morning all - I've helped myself to my usual latte. Sandra I'm so pleased you had a wonderful day and that you at long last met one of your 'icons'. Meeting face to face is so very special isn't it. I hope that you'll not suffer too much after affects today. So stay where you are and keep safe and warm. Those strong high winds caught us last night and are still at it. Thank you for the bday cake - it was lovely and I hope there was some left for when you got back.
Maureen your cards are beautiful and I just love both of them. Again I'm in awe of you wonderful sisters who can colour. I've said before when I try it looks as though I've just coloured in from a child's colouring book. I had a lovely day yesterday first by meeting Jim's Niece and her two little ones who arrived with cards and a beautifully wrapped box of chocs. Then back at home I was invaded by Daughters and Son in Laws for the afternoon complete with cards flowers and gifts. My eldest Son in Law (for the first time since we met as Partner/Husband to my eldest Daughter - though I knew him when they were at school together) gave me the most beautiful sun chatcher in stained glass - a Fox head- He had made it himself and it is just too beautiful for words. Both he and Christina went to a stained glass workshop very close to them last year and as a result they made their bedroom door - top half in stained glass and one or two other little pieces. I received a couple of dies from two of my K&N friends and today I'm being taken to The Range - craft section of course - to choose some crafting goodies as Jim says it's the only way he doesn't double up on things I've already got!! Last night when all had left and we were just settling down with a glass and a recording to watch Jim appeared with a fresh cream and Apricot muffing sporting a single lit candle. He said that it was the nearest he could get to a French Pastry. He had bought one for himself of course.lol. Isn't it just those little things that make all the difference! So I hope to pop in later and let you know my purchases and just how empty Jim's wallet is!!!. Have a really good day everyone and Happy Saint David's Day - Daffys and Leeks to the fore today.
    Hugs Janet xx

You need them to be reasonably thick to support your dies don't you!
I don't envy you food shopping though! Asda, on a Sunday, you must be mad! You will need a lie down in a darkened room when you get back! Take it easy my love, try and not get too stressed!

    2. I bought some of those from a craft shop somewhere too, solved the problem by using some of the DS sticky sheets cut to same size as I needed the magnetic piece, then stuck the whole lot onto the card that was included with the dies. I then store them in poly bags in a draw.

May I have a latte and one of those Apricot Muffins that Jim brought in, he is so sweet, Janet is a very lucky lady, I do hope his wallet survives the day!
The craft show sounded brilliant, and Meeting up with some of our ladies and of course Christine must have been lovely. Do hope you can rest and recover today.
Maureen, such sweet cards, the little boy fishing with the clouds and the overhanging branches is just perfect and I bet Joe loved it. Cards for 7 year old boys are not easy, they are sort of between stages, not too babyish and not too grown up either and you have got it just right.
Your Gorjuss card is just that, Gorgeous. Like Sam I am so impressed with the shine on her hair. Your colouring is so professional, the little grey shadowing is so clever and shows just how talented you are. Do you use copic markers? Those new colour changing pens they keep showing on CC look interesting, can't remember their name,
I am going to have a crafting day today and am going to attempt one of Izzys bags. She got so many wonderful comments she must have been on cloud nine. Mind you, there were two I thought a bit off. One just said "not my cup of tea" and another just put "different " no good morning or anything and I just thought it was mean. I don't agree with saying you like something when you don't like it, but there are ways to say something nice, especially when someone has put all that effort in and Sue was so kind to do what she did.
Anyway, not to worry. I am going to try to tidy up the disaster which is my crafting room otherwise known as the dining room (aren't lap trays a wonderful invention) so that I can mess it all up again!!
    Have a lovely Sunday all.
    Love and hugs

    1. Hi Saba,
How is Val doing, is she still in ICU?
Those pens you were talking about are called Chameleon, they look good but all those pens do in the hands of professionals don't they, my worse buy I think were the spectrum noire pens, some never even worked others when you try to pull the caps off the whole pen end comes with it, I still tend to pick up my pro markers of watercolour pencils for colouring.
I too might well have a go at Izzys bags, I thought they were bloody genius, I used to make handbags a few years back, but they were a flatter design and fitted in a one inch deep box, but I bought leather looking textures paper and I had a little Scotty dog stamp that looked very much like the Radley dog, they used to go down really well for all age groups of ladies.
I kind of feel like if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all! Maybe they are jealous, even if it isn't something you would use, they are still nice. There is no need to add anything negative is there, honestly some people need to get a life!
Blogs are all about encouraging people in my opinion, not dragging them down but these trolls get everywhere don't they! Nobody makes them leave a comment, Sue must have been well impressed!
Good luck with the tidy up, you should have taken before and after shots! Don't forget to send pics of your handbag!
      Love and hugs

  16. Hello Sandra,
Thank you for showing my cards, and for all the kind comments all the lovely people on the blog have made.
It was a bit nerve wracking sending them to you because we never think our cards are much good, do we? They are very plain because most of the children have younger siblings, and I always worry that if I add buttons or embellishments, they will pull them off and try to eat them!
You are all quite correct, the boy fishing is a LOTV stamp, and the girl is a Gorjuss stamp - I had a rush of blood to the head and bought three Gorjuss last year. They, and the LOTV stamps, are great to stamp. They are always so crisp and clean and I can't praise them enough.
I coloured my stamping in with Promarkers because I used an Adirondak pad to stamp with. I use watercolours if I stamp in an Archival pad.
Cool Grey 1 is the Promarker I use to go around the finished outline.
For my clouds, I cut a piece of paper with vague cloud outlines and just use a blending tool to blend the blue from the copy paper to gradually go onto the card, I didn't realise tht I could go onto the web and download a template - that's a job to do later this morning.
After all that, which hope you can follow, I'll have a latte and a toasted teacake, no don't worry Sandra, I'll help myself and put the money in the pot. I do hope you are feeling a bit better today.
Now for something completely different. I need a Onsie!! Every year I do a mile walk for Autism (Joe, the boy who's card is shown today) has a 3 year old brother with this condition - along with something else that I can't spell) and we do a walk around the Quayside to raise funds. This year it's a Onsie walk!!! Can you see me in a Onsie - no, me either!!! Well, it'll give everyone a laugh who sees me. I obviously don't want to pay a lot for one, as I don't think I'll ever wear it again. It's a very slow, gentle walk all on the flat, as there are children with their various ailments either walking, or being pushed in the wheelchairs, so it's very cheerful, noisy, and no one tries to get ahead of everyone else. It's lovely and the children love it. You've heard of the 4 minute mile, well this is more like a 2 hour mile lol.
Saba, I hope you and your sister are still doing well.
    Michele,, thinking of you.
Janet, your birthday cake from Jim sounds lovely, and not too many calories!!!
I'm glad you all had a great day at Farnborough yesterday. Steph, you seem to be proficient in organising events, so we leave it to you to organise a craft retreat for the ladies on the blog!!! Just give us time to save up!!
Well, the girls slept well last night, but Zoe had her usual conversation with me whilst she was fast asleep. I could hear her saying "do it this way", so I went in and said I'd do it like that, so she lay down and as she'd never woken up anyway, she was asleep there and then!! Aren't they funny? Their mam and dad have just arrived to take them home so I'll have to go to see them. I wonder what they'll leave behind this time?

    1. Hi Maureen,
No end to pay for your snack today. It's free when you are guest designer, My way of saying 'thanks'
Your cards are stunning, I have kept the other toe for another day!
What size are you Maureen, we have so many onesies in this house, I will gladly post you one to wear and we can either get it back when we meet up at some point or you can post it back, they are quite light, we have ladybird ones, monkey, leopard, Minnie Mouse, you name it we probably have it, but they are the girls not mine so they are all about size 8 - about 12 I reckon, but they are quite loose!
You are very welcome, they will of course be freshly laundered!
The girls have gone for normal jamas or lounge pants this year, mainly tartan to be honest, we even got paul some lounge pants, what a giggle we had when he first put them on, freshly showered, he wore them like pj bottoms, well when he walked in the lounge on Christmas Day night,I thought it was my Christmas gift, to day they don't leave much to the imagination is an understatement, I can still feel the stitch from laughing now! So he now wears them with underwear!, sorry that's a bit too much info, but I wanted to share the fun!
I am so glad you had a fun sleepover, I can just picture you relaxing in the chair now with your feet up!
      Love and hugs

    2. Hi Maureen, your cards are so cute, I have a couple of LOTV stamps, a baby on a rocking horse and a baby in a basket held up by a ballon, I use them a lot for new baby cards and colour them in with coloured pencils or watercolour pencils, but not a patch on yours! Jess x

    3. Hi Maureen your cards are beautiful and what fantastic colouring in, very professional. Thank you for sharing them with us. Your walk sounds fun and a great way to raise money and awareness for the charity. My daughter bought me a onesie for a laugh the Christmas before last from Primark. It's a crocodile complete with feet! It's really comfy to wear especially if you come home wet through and want to pop something on but not jim jams or if you have a bath and want to lounge about. It does cause a laugh in our house though. You can borrow it if it helps. Primark did have them quite cheep and how cool would you be as a grandma in a onesie!!! Take care love Diane xxx

  17. Good morning Sandra and ladies. Firstly I will have a tea and a toasted tea cake sounds good - no I am more than capable to get it myself. Sandra and the others that went to the show I am so glad you had a great time, and yes meeting the likes of Christine and Sue are great moments, we enjoyed spending the day with Sue last year, she is one truely lovely lady. Now Sandra and Pat oh and I bet Sue too will be suffering big style today so feet up and do nothing it will all still be there tomorrow. I have just die cut the labels for the invite boxes, so a little easy job out of the way, will do a couple of thank you cards too, then we are all out for high tea this afternoon . High Tea - you get toast to start then a main course tea/ coffee then a cake stand of things like scones, pancakes and cakes. Very scottish and very enjoyable. So no cooking tonight. Right I am off to get the dog towels out of the machine and get them on the line. It will be two empty washes of the machine to make sure the dog hairs are gone, usually do them at work in the horse machine ( old washers that all the horse things go in) but I am not in that much this week and can't leave the dog towels that long.

Oh how rude of me - senior moment. Maureen your two cards are gorgeous, beautifully coloured and stamped . I most go and get a stamping lesson from big sister Patricia at some point. Hazel x

Your High Tea sounds very posh, and very delicious, maybe something we should introduce to the cafe do you think!
Maybe we just aren't posh enough for that!
Lucky you though, no cooking tonight, feet up and a s

    2. Hi Hazel your high tea sounds lovely. I meet up with some friends occasionally and last year we had afternoon tea instead of lunch. It was a real treat and we felt quite spoilt. Usually it's sandwiches scones and cake with a pot of tea, but one place bought hot buttered scones and crumpets as well, oh we were so full! Have fun love Diane xxx

    3. High Tea was delicious ladies, here in Scotland you get toast to begin with then a main course I had the chicken and ham salad which was yummy!!! Then they bring out the pancakes, scones and cakes teas and coffees, little Lauren going to be 5 in May, loved when the cakes came as they were all small and dainty, so I her eyes she could have more than one, and she did. She had scampi for her main and eat the lot so she was allow more than one cake, no way would she have if she hadn't eaten her scampi. No it was a lovely family meet up, Gills Andrew and Charlie shared the bill. I did write what the High Tea earlier but it must have gone walk abouts. Hazel x

  20. Good morning ladies and Happy St. David's day for our Welsh lovelies from a very sunny albeit windy Somerset.

    Maureen, my dear heart,
Your cards are divine and you are so talented, the recipients will certainly treasure them, as I know I will. And the themes just hit the right spot for the age groups, so hard at times and you have it spot on.
I don't envy people for what talents they have, but just sometimes I wish I could have the patience to use stamps confidently and be able to colour in.
Mine resembles a drunken spider with broken legs in casts dragging them across the page. I get so annoyed with myself but Ce la vie, I do have other talents. Pergamano is another craft I can't quite get the hang of.

    Sandra my dear,
I am so pleased you were able to get to Farnborough yesterday to meet up with all the ladies and to have such a good time. And I hope your'e cold is improving. Now pray tell, what goodies did you buy or were tempted to splash out on? Info please.
Saba, how is Val? I'm still holding your hands in spirit.
I might, just might, get into the garden today if it stays as nice as now. I have a bed of Melianthus major that took rather a battering from the strong winds and frosts last month and they are crying out to be tidied up and cut down. One hour and 1 border bed a day and my garden will be done in no time.
    Onwards and upwards then,
    love & hugs

    1. Hi Cheryl,
Firstly are you coming to Ally Pally?
Thanks for calling in today, leek & potato soup and welsh cakes on the menu today for St David's day!
I hope the wind isn't as blustery in Cannington as it is Carterton, or your Melianthus Major will be Melianthus Disappearus ! You on of an hour a day is a good one though. The. Sun is shining brightly here though!
I had a wonderful day yesterday, I was popping the flu pills to keep me going, I really didn't spend too much as I am saving for Ally Pally,
I got some of Anna Marie Designs New colour dotty and linen card, some of their Stamping card to in white and cream, a load of new adhesive pearls, to restock my stash, a few packs of cheap paper flowers, oh and you know that bow maker that Stephanie Weightman sells that is about £20?! Well there was a company called Ross paper that where selling an MDF version, large, small a stand and a DVD for £5 ! I stood and thought oh I might mpbe rubbish but for a fiver I took the risk, watch this space for an update!
There were also selling 350 gsm card 40 sheets for £4 which was great quality, perfect for boxes! It was cream, I am trying to use more cream card as we automatically go for white but when you hold cream against a colour sometimes it's a less harsh contrast than white!
I also got a genius little booklet from Pink Frog Crafts that shows you how to transform your die cut flower petals into stunning flowers, so many different ones from one shape of flower petal! Only £3.50 too, it's genius! I think that was about it!
I am off for a play, catch up later,
      Hugs

    2. Hi Sandra,
I would love to come but nobody to come with me. That's a big journey to be taking on my own and to be honest I don't even know when it is on. I was thinking of perhaps looking into whether we have any coach trips going there. (Last time I travelled to London on a coach it took me over 4 & half hours, not many friends craft so to ask to give up basically 24 hours in one go is a bit much for some due to their family committments.)
      One day perhaps.
Your book sounds splendid, I have a couple of quilling flower books and keep promising myself to at least try some flowers out, and today might be that day. My gardening has taken a back seat, all those gales and driving rain from up North has suddenly swept down to our side of the coast, so Melianthus will have to wait. A perfect excuse to put the fire and TV on and do some after I have finished my son's b/card.
      Enjoy your playing.

What a day you had yesterday meeting up with so many from the blog and to meet Christine what a treat. I see she Has left a message on the blog to where you're getting famous.
Maureen, your cards are gorgeous, love the way you coloured the little girl's hair, your shading is just perfect. You asked about onesies our elder daughter got some for her boys in Primark. Last week younger daughter was looking at Next sale (online) and got one for Ciaira. It's rather large think it will fit her until she is about 17. She got it for about £10 it should've been double that.

    2. Sandra, the thought of me in a onesie would send my family into hysterics - no I haven't got one!!!!
Ciara is so pleased with her new onsie (she has at least two others to my knowledge). The new one is so big , but she doesn't care, the crutch is almost down to her knees !!!
I think it's time for a cup of tea, you know what I fancy, an Eccles cake, I'll just go over by the window, anyone is welcome to come and join me. We can watch the world go by.
SABA sending both you and Val love and prayers.
YES Sandra I'm pleased to say the freezer is now working. We have most of our frozen food back. The oven has been on overtime we have had CAKE this week, a lovely Lemon Drizzle and Yummy Bread Pudding - well I had bread to use up. I normally keep it in the freezer, just taking it out as and when we need it.
Think HOPE we are all sorted out now. LOL Brenda xxx

Cheryl, if it's anything like as windy down there as it is up here, wear lead divers boots to keep you grounded. I've hung the washing on the line but didn't put the prop in as I didn't fancy jumping over all the garden fences to pick it up.
Thank you again ladies for all your very kind comments about my quite plain cards.

She did go to Christine's shop once to do a demo day and on her email that she wasn't Christine sister just same name. Yes Marion is lovely. Her shop used to be my local craft shop. She is closing it soon and going to concentrate on doing workshops and online shop I think. Think she is going to get somewhere else. Did your Grandaughters get to make their Mothers Day cards. Sounds like everyone had fun at the craft show. I just feel so far away from everything here, not even a craft shop. Nearest one is Inverness which is an hour and a half away. So I can't just pop out for an odd sheet of paper. That's my excuse for stockpiling so much. If you are wondering where this crafting desert is, Fort William, west coast of Scotland. 29. Hi Sandra and all the coffee shop ladies. Sorry I'm a little late today as I had a lazy morning then spent about 2 hours in the garden cutting back some shrubs. I filled the garden collection Wheelybin to the top so I had to stop, which was a shame because I was on a roll. Sorry just helping myself to a cup of tea and these delicious welsh cakes- haven't made any for ages so must get my griddle out again soon. Anyway I came in from gardening (Hubby watching rugby!) and within 10 minutes it is pouring with rain and blowing a gale!!! Perfect timing! Sandra I bought the Ross paper and the flower book too, they were both good value. I saw the mdf bow maker but didn't buy one- let us know what it's like to use. One stall near the beginning (the loo end rather than the food end) had a few bags of the stick pins and beads, not as a kit but a bag of the tear drop in one colour, a bag of pearls and a bag of the spacers. Each bag was about £1.95 so I kept going back to them but didn't buy them in the end - I bought some CS sparkle paste instead so will try grouting this week when I get time. Right, I've washed up my cup and plate, must go and put the meat on for dinner tonight and peel some vegetables. Maureen I've left you a comment above. Hope you recover from yesterday ladies and feel up to playing with your goodies today. Take care love Diane xxx

  36. Good Evening ladies I know I have been AWOL but I have been viewing all your wonderful creations you are all extremely talented.

Saba, hoping your Sister is doing OK?

I have been busy++ all week Monday I had Tilly's friend for the day and took them swimming etc. Tuesday I tied to blitz the mess from half term. Wed was fat club, more cleaning and then worked all night. I had three hours sleep on Thursday and got up and made cakes for school charity event in the durning I had to be extremely crafty and create an animal out of vegetables with Tilly - do not ask! It tested my craftiness. Friday I had promised Mum I would go to see the theory of everything with her - if you haven't seen it it's a must fantastic acting. However, head fell off said dog on way to school so had to go home reglue it and then go back to school! I missed my morrisons shopping slot because of this! I worked a twilight Friday and Saturday got up and did a round trip of 150 miles to Harrogate to see my uncle. He had been admitted to the local hospice there and mum and I wanted yo visit. He has been in our lives longer than dad and in my mums since he met my aunts when mum was about 10. I am used to seeing people with advanced cancer but not my own as it were so it was a shock to see him and upsetting. Mum was obviously shocked and upset too. To make matters worse it is the anniversary of dad's death on Tuesday .

Today I have managed the shopping eventually and have been trying to catch up on washing and ironing!

On a crafty note somehow not sure how have done a birthday card for my friend who is blind. I used one of Sues pinpoint folders and tried to get lots of texture and dimension to the card. I also did it white on black as she has limited vision and that is the best colour combination for her to see. I bought her a Yankee candle and freesias as she can hopefully appreciate the scents. I know carol through fat club and she has never seen my cards she has messages me to say how amazed she was and that the textures were all amazing and she has never displayed a card box as well as a card before! I think that is the joy that you can make something so specific for someone!

So that is where I am at just thought I would let you all know as Sandra had mailed to see if I was OK. I know the next few days will be difficult ones and the distance doesn't help. I know my aunty will need a lot of support too and again the distance is a nightmare. I am sure you will understand if I am an erratic visitor in the next few days.

Mine is a large dry white wine please after my week! Nothing less!

I hope you are all well. Take care xxx

    1. Hi Maria,
I have found the answer to the colouring problem is the quality of the card. A really smooth card is the answer. I hope this helps.

    2. Hi Maria,
I hope you are well today, help yourself to what you need as I am naked and about to get in the shower, believe that's a sight you don't want in your head before eating!
I will know when I see you giggling what you are thinking at Ally Pally, sorry about that, maybe I will get him to wear them!
Oh send me one of those Pancakes and Maple Syrup, they sound yummy, although we had treacle tart for pudding tonight, that was yummy too!
Are you going to have a go at making a handbag? I think I may try tomorrow, the only thing is I don't have much patience when it comes to measuring things!
lock up when you leave lovely

  39. Good evening Sandra and all our lovlies,
Couldn't get back earlier as we had unexpected visitors. It was lovely to see them, but it did mean I didn't get the crafting day I was looking forward to and then they stayed for dinner - well - take away pizza and have only just nicely left. So izzy Handbags will have to wait for another day. Patricia, I have had a quick look at yours, they are divine can't wait to have a go.

Thank you everyone who has continued to ask after Val. She is still on ICU but doing really well. My niece actually made a video yesterday from ICU and sent it to me. It was amazing to see Val. She managed to talk a little, (it would have been our dads birthday yesterday and we have never missed speaking to,each other on his special day) she really looked so well, and although it had me in floods, it also made me so very happy.
Of course she has tubes everywhere and as a nurse, I was also interested in those and have told my niece tomorrow I would like to see a photo of her all her monitors, tubes, bags etc. so I can asses her from here.!,Lol
Alison will understand that, we nurses are a strange lot and need to know every detail.
So glad to hear from you Alison was getting a bit worried. Sorry you are having a hard time and your Uncle is so ill. Our eldest daughter lives in Harrogate and Val just 2 miles outside. So I know it well. Hope Tuesday is not too hard for you.
Love and hugs for all, see you tomorrow.

    1. Hi Saba,
I am so pleased that Val is continuing to do well and that you got to 'see' and hear her, that makes it so much better doesn't it!
I will join you in handbag construction tomorrow, shall we do it together? I will show you mine if you show me yours!!!
Make sure Maria is out when you leave tonight, she has taken to hanging around late, I don't want her exhausting herself with all the tidying up at the end of the day!
      See you tomorrow!
      Love and Hugs

You know the saying that money is the root of all evil, well my brother says that's rubbish - "lack of money is the root of all evil".

    2. Hi Lynda,
You would have loved the show, there were lots of stalls, there were a few of those rubbish ones that sell Super Dooper Oven Whizz made of Donkey Pee that cleans your oven, does the dishes and bakes a cake at the same time! and some funky hanging baskets! But apart from that there so loads of craft stalls of all types! A good few bargains too.
What have you been up to this weekend, hope its been a good one!
