Colour Thrinchie

 

Good Morning Ladies, 

I hope today finds you all as well as can be expected!  I'm afraid I'll be battling the GP Receptionist this morning,  I honestly thought that this new regime of supplements was going to do the job, I think the trouble is the UTI wasn't cleared by the last lot of antibiotics that i finished 2 weeks ago, the supplements have been easing the symptoms but the last 2 or 3 days I have been struggling with my AF particularly at night, it's racing so fast that I can't relax enough to sleep, then yesterday the symptoms came back with a vengeance!  😭😥😢 I am going to continue taking them alongside whichever antibiotic I get given this time.  

Janet only 1 more sleep till tea and cake !! Fingers crossed they get you sorted in time for you to get away to Marigny XXX

Brenda I hope your hospital day doesn't drag on too long, the places are exhausting XXX 

Lilian I hope the vampire doesn't take too much blood, fingers crossed it gives you some answers. XXX 

Todays Thrinchie is for the theme: Colour, I used Distress Oxide re-inkers, by adding drops of each colour onto my card and then blowing the colour out with my Tim. Holtz Puffer, I popped them on the Aga but they weren't dry after 4 hours, so I had to work with them still a bit wet,  I stamped 4 paint brushes from an Aall&Create stamp set, I added clear embossing powder and heat set so the black stood out when i added ink to each paint brush, I ended up using Distress inks as the colour was brighter than oxides.  The last job was to add the sentiment 'Colour outside the lines '  which I just happen to do all the time!!  A few white splatters finished it off.

Hexagon Thrinchie

 

Good Monday Morning Ladies,

We have an exciting week this week as we count down to Ally Pally,  I feel like we haven't been to a big decent craft show in ages.  I must remember to write a list!  

It would be so lovely if you could travel up Lilian to come to a show with us or even just come up to meet up with us if R was coming up on one of his trips, I am determined to meet up with you one way or another.  

Gina do you go to Craft shows?  It would be lovely to meet up you too, I can't remember what part of the country you are in?. 

Today's Thrinchie's theme is Hexagons, so I used Aall&Create #649 'Clipped Botanicals' which features Spring flowers, so I thought that would be perfect for this weeks challenge. I stamped onto Canson Watercolour Paper, its really smooth and allows you to blend Ecoline pens perfectly, I was surprised what a difference it makes. The Thrinchie background was the piece of card that I brayered off the excess paint off onto when changing colours, so it kind of feels like you're using your waste, which is a bonus.  I simply stamped onto the thrinchie making sure the large daffodil was completely inside the square.  Then stamp onto a piece of watercolour card and used my Ecolines to colour the daffodil leaving the background white to make the flower stand out. I fussy cut the hexagon out and placed it over the same place on the coloured background, I added some white splatters and then stamped the narcissus word and cut it out, edged it with posca black marker and added it to the bottom corner, adding a little shading to finish.

Good Sunday Morning Ladies  

We had quite the relaxed Saturday,  Paul washed the car and did a few garden jobs, filling bird feeders, which made me laugh as every time  rook or crow landed in the garden he went out to chase it away and then watched in delight as the Robins and Long tailed Tits enjoyed the fat blocks and mealworms! He was like a cat on hot bricks, I hid my giggles! 🥰🤣😂

I spent a couple hours in my craft room, creating another Thrinchie for Hexagons, the rest of the time was spent tidying before I could start crafting.

Here are my two cards for this week. I started theses before I saw what you had picked for this week,  both quite simplistic. Elusive images stamps, rather old.

Card1: 

Here’s a card front I have had for about 6 years I quite like it but messed up the gold embossing 

This has purple DO splats and a gold Posca,  I found a remnant of the cream card and splattered it with gold and purple CS Shimmer paints (which I’d totally forgotten I had)

Card 2:

Here’s the Sympathy card using GUMMIAPAN die and a John Lockwood butterfly.

I really like the simplicity of that Gummiapan die, absolutely perfect for a Sympathy card, it works so well with that tiny butterfly and the sentiment.  

The gold mat that you have added to the first card really highlights the gold splatters on the card front,  great idea adding the splatters to the sentiment label to tie the two pieces together.  Thank you so much for 2 fantastic cards XXX

Sonia's Description:

No 1 & 2: First page - using Tracey Hey stamps, the papers on front and inside cover are Tracey Hey as well. I stamped the head band/bow and heart on t shirt twice to make them stand out more.  I inked the base of the covers and then stuck on papers on 

No 3:  Two more Tracey Hey Thrinchies. These were originally going to be a larger journal page, but I wasn’t happy with it, so decided to make into Thrinchies. I’ve used Distress inks and oxides for the colouring.

No 4:  I wanted to do a couple with AALL & Create products too, so have mixed stamps and stencils, again with distress oxides.

Sonia what an Incredible album you have created, everything ties together perfectly, even though you used Aall&Create stamps on page 4 it still matches the other pages perfectly,  I love that bright pop of pink running through the album.

Hi I am putting in a card for the challenge its one I made for my Mother in Law for her birthday (she was 92) it is a heartfelt creations butterfly and stamp this is only the second time I have used it, it is about two years old (I think). 

Wow Gina what a gorgeous Butterfly,  I don't think I've seen that one before, its so intricate, I love that you get the basic outline die too as it gives you so many more options.  Using it to create a Butterfly shaped Easel card was a brilliant idea and works perfectly.  How lovely to have the matching Envelope too.

Mixed Up Saturday

 

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

What do you all have planned this weekend?  How true is that saying??!! 

I will that it doesn't apply to craft stash though!! 

While looking at different Thrinchies on Aall&Create pages I began to go down the "I will need to get that stamp for that Thrinchie, maybe buy the Penguins stamps for another one!  So I gave myself a stern talking to and decided to 'make the best of everything I have'!!   

So instead of making every Thrinchie with Aall&Create products I am going to make sets of Thrinchies from different companies products,  so maybe 6 Aall&Create,  6 StampinUp,  6 Card-io, 6 Magazine free stamps etc.  

We could make them into challenges too, let me know your thoughts. 

Creative Stamping Magazine 

Issue 119 Review

This month's issue has free stamps and 'Chalkboard Sentiment cards' designed by the lovely Christina Griffiths of Card Making Magic,  the stamps are nice, maybe a little bit 'Twee', they also feel a little bit soft jelly texture, so I wonder what they will stamp like.   The chalkboard cards are ok, they are quite glossy/shiny, a bit like Magazine papers used to be,  if you can ink them etc they may not look as bad. 

The first feature is based on using the free stamps with Watercolouring, or Watercolour in a 'loose and abstract' style!!  Some are a little too 'abstract' for my style but each to their own! 

This feature shows you how to get the best results using the Chalkboard Sentiments, using Alcohol pens, distress oxides, dir cutting etc,  admittedly they do look better coloured. 

Acetate Overlay stamping is the focus of this feature, sone of these sample cards look great, a couple make your eyes go funny , I'm guessing you have to accurately line the stamped acetate perfectly with the stamped base card beneath.  I have done similar with vellum which gives a softer look, the acetate with a simple sentiment on is a great way to show off a lovely background though!

Some lovely cards here using the free stamps to make cards ideal for Mothers Day, they would work perfectly for other occasions too.

Makes for men in this feature,  the free stamps are great for cards for men, I know the gardening theme would work for my 'Man' 🤣

These cards are apparently 'Clean & Simple' in style, I'm not so sure about that but they are lovely cards. 

There was a great tip on the first card, it has splatters of ink in the background,  I am a bit weary of splatters after my disaster earlier this week, the tip is....

To use a Toothbrush to do the splatters, so I will try that and report back.

These cards are made by combining the free stamps and pretty papers in your stash.

Jigsaw puzzle 

We finished our latest jigsaw puzzle on Wednesday,  it's been lovely as Lucy has been joining us on an evening to take part, I will say she is very methodical and will spend hours looking for a specific piece.  The contrast between the serene family fun fair on the box picture and death defying rides at the 'Mega Epic Killer Thriller World' that is the jigsaw picture !  We had fun looking at all the little details.  So a couple nights off then on to the next one !

It's New Challenge Day

 

Good Friday Morning Ladies, 

Another week that has whizzed by, I kept thinking that yesterday was Wednesday,  it felt like it couldn't possibly be Thursday already!   

Janet I hope that all of your 24hr tests go smoothly,  you will be in my thoughts, these things can be so mentally draining as well as physically,  because the whole time you are wondering about the outcome, hopefully you can read a book or manage a little bit of crafting if you are able to have the tests while being at home.  XXX 

Our Next Challenge 

I thought that with it being the start of March and the garden is showing signs of new life it would be nice to have our next Challenge as Spring themed, you can interpret this however you please, you can just use the Spring theme for the colours, you can feature flowers or wildlife.  You can make cards, journal pages, Thrinchies,  Atc's absolutely anything you like. 

I have shared some bits above to give you some ideas Inspiration for this Challenge, I hope it helps, I love some of those colour combinations.

Sonia's Thrinchie Album

Good Morning Ladies, 

I hope that today finds you all as well as can be expected 😘

I had 'one of those' days yesterday, it was just Lucy and I home and poor Lucy was on tenterhooks all day, waiting to hear about her car, so she needed full Mum attention to keep her from getting too anxious,  not that 'Mrs Anxiety' here has any great coping mechanisms but we just got through the day until Paul was home to take her to the garage to collect her car and find out the damage!!  

The mechanic was lovely and explained everything really well, he agreed with us about the manufacturers adding all of these 'sensors' has made cars so costly to maintain, he said they are all to do with measuring emissions, he removed the parts that were causing issues and reprogrammed the cars computer so that it didn't look for them (how clever)!  But when he checked the Diagnostic codes after it read that she will need 2 new sensors, however for now the car is running fine and so he said just forget about them until you get a warning  light, which may not come for months. He didn't want to do them unnecessarily as it would have pushed the bill to £1000+ 

She had to pay just under £600 which was shock enough bless her, she did say it was much easier to accelerate on the way home, the mechanic did say that he removed big bits of soot and built up dirt so she should notice the difference.  So fingers crossed that will be it for a while!   

Then Sophie came home and said she had a Traumatising afternoon, 🤣😅😂, the Press officer at the Wildlife Park had gotten wind of Soph's painting,  she wanted to do a photo shoot with Sophie and the painting, oh and her Manager,  my girls are like me and hate being photographed,  this Lady had her posing all over the park!  Including in the Giant Tortoise house,  she had to kneel down with Darwin, George & Sheldon !  I had to explain to her that she needed to get publicity to get her name out there, her answer.....I'll just be like Banksy!  🤣😂😅

Now Ladies, Our Sonia has been bitten by the Thrinchie bug!  Just look at the Amazing Album and her first Thrinchie,  its so lovely, such an adorable little Elephant that Sonia stamped onto Tracey Hey Text Paper, she then stamped the bow, t shirt and heart for a little dimension.  

Sonia your first Thrinchie is amazing,  I can't wait to see the next one. Thank you so much for sharing your Album and Thrinchie with us ❤️ XX

Brenda how did the Student Doctors get on when you went for your appointment?  I have always been fine with Student,  when I went in to have the girls there were so many in the Theatre it was crowded!  They have to learn though, especially the non medical thing like how to talk to patients.

Spring Thrinchie

 

Good Morning Ladies, 

And just like that it's March!!! I love this month, full of exciting new beginnings in the garden and in nature.  The garden is springing into life, you can see buds appearing on the trees, the bulbs are well through the ground, we have beautiful Snowdrops and tiny little Cyclamen, so delicate, the birds are all busy getting ready to build their nests, so much to sit and watch. 😍   Do you ladies have a favourite month?  March was also the month I met Paul,  which makes it an extra special Month.  

Today's Thrinchie just so happens 'Spring' themed, it was a total coincidence! 

I used a Tulip as my main focus, which I coloured with my Ecoline pens.  I was torn between daffodils and tulips to be honest,  but tulips come in more colours, so thats what I chose.  The background was the piece of card I used to clean off my brayer when I was creating my pile of backgrounds on the Gelli plate, which is a bonus as its basically using waste. I added the little bird as another nod to Spring, I tried to keep the colours lighter too.  I quite like how this onr turned out. 

We were supposed to be having our hair cut today but Lucy's car needed some unexpected repairs,  so we had to cancel.  So crafting for me today!!
