Good Morning Ladies,
Ben at In2Craft.com Challenged me to make a card with the 'Garden Delights' Frame from Sue Wilson's October Die Release for Creative Expressions.
The Garden Delight die set is a 'Frame' consisting of 3 separate dies, an outer die to cut a mat or your Base card with, the actual frame with that lovely lattice detail and pretty floral design, then there is that lovely sentiment 'You are so kind', it sounds a little more sincere than just a 'Thank you'.
The first card I made with this set in the Spring coloured card, I covered a piece of 'Old Olive' card with a CE Double sided adhesive sheet and covered it in iridescent glitter, I used this to mount my frame onto (that I had die cut in white). I coloured all of the flowers and foliage with my Stampin' Blends Markers and then fussy cut a couple of the flowers out of the same colour card as the Blends and layered them up for a little dimension. I added a piece of Old Olive ribbon down the side of the card and added a 1/8 White ribbon on top, to tie in with the Green and white in the card. I tied a knot in the ribbon and popped on a resin flower coloured with Daffodil Delight Stampin Blend Pen.
That finished my card.
I am going to be totally honest with you here and say that I wasn't 100% happy with that card, it just wasn't 'WOW' enough for me, if Sue has gone to the trouble of designing a die I want to share how versatile it can be. So I looked into my box of Sue's dies and found her Christmas Rose stamp and dies from a year or so back, then decided to go bold with the colours to make a real statement card.
I used a matt silver card to cut the frame and also a mat to layer up with, and then die cut a Night of Navy layer to sit behind the frame. I stamped the Christmas Rose onto both white and Navy card and cut them out with their matching dies, I also stamped the leaves in white and inked through the die with Night of Navy ink for added detail. I also used Sue's Trailing Ivy, die cut in Navy and Delicate Fronds cut out in Silver Mirror card, to catch the light and give a different texture to the card.
I arranged the flowers and foliage around the area that has the floral detail on the die cut, covering it up, so that you would never know that these weren't the actual dies, this makes the die so much more versatile in my opinion.
I think that this would work with any of Sue's flower and foliage dies, I would love to make another one with Poinsettia's, cutting the frame in gold and then having the Red and Green Poinsettia's.
Because the sentiment is a separate die you can change that too, I could easily have changed the Navy and Silver card to a Christmas card too.
I hope you like what I have done with the Die set and the extra idea I have given you too, I can't wait to see what you all make with the die set too.
Thank you so much to Ben for setting me this Challenge, I look forward to the next one. xx
I will leave the link below for this die that is on Ben's Website:
I hope that you all have a lovely Friday and that you are all looking forward to the weekend.
Love and Hugs to all

Morning Ladies
ReplyDeleteSandra-I love what you have done with this Die, two really lovely cards. My favourite is the blue card, it’s beautiful.
Once I’d done the shopping yesterday after work I felt shattered so another evening spent reading! I must try to get i my year craft room tonight.
Meeting a friend tomorrow morning for coffee then I’m off to choose door handles etc (with hubby) for our new Front Door which is on order.
Michele
Morning Everyone
ReplyDeleteWe are starting the day here with some sunshine but believe me it's still quite cold.
SANDRA- I love the silver and blue version of the die set. Against the Spring version it really out shines it.
I managed to get my CC etc sent off yesterday and thank you SANDRA for sending me your new email address. It's now safely stored away for future use.
Well I cannot believe that we're onto Friday again. This time last week we were on our way home but today is very different as it's that 'swear' word on the books today.
The CAFE is OPEN as usual so pop in when you can. The heating is on and hot drinks are waiting to be consumed.
Have a good day everyone. HUGS are winging their way to you all. xxxx
Well, I’ve just lost my comment as google needed me to sign in again.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra & all in cafe,
ReplyDeleteSandra 2 completely different cards but I think I prefer the green one, it stands out for me.
I commented yesterday morning but when I looked later it had disappeared yet I know it published, I love that paper you used, I have it but not used it yet. Hope you have a lovely weekend.xxx

They’re great cards for Ben to use My favourite is the green one
ReplyDeleteWill call back later as I’m at work awaiting a couple of reports to run - egg timers or whirly gigs are the bane of my life sometimes
Just finished work and enjoying lunch at my local cafe We’are out dancing again tonight so it will save me cooking Plus I have a dentist appointment later this afternoon
ReplyDeleteI have done a couple of new cc’s So I must photograph them and send to you SANDRA
I have another idea in my head which I hope to try especially as the gilding flakes one was such a disaster
Take care all of you xx
Hello Sandra and ladies,
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards Sandra. I feel like a juggler I keep looking from one card to the other and I honestly cannot decide which I prefer - I think they both work really well, it has to come down to who the card is for and the occasion....... So I’m not going to choose a favourite because I Love both versions. xx
Sorry I didn’t get in yesterday, it wasn’t a good day, everything seemed such an effort , I had a nap after lunch but that didn’t help. Anyway today I’m thinking onwards and upwards, hope I can keep going until bedtime, Ha Ha xx
Hope everyone is having a good day,Love Brenda xxx
Hi Brenda
DeleteI hope you feel a bit more with it tomorrow. I didn’t get in yesterday either.
Hello All, still having trouble getting iPad to publish, so annoying.
ReplyDeleteAs Brenda said to lovely cards, I think it’s who they suit, the second almost wins, then again love the blue one.
Not much else going on have my gp appointment, it’s for the 8th of November, gone are the days when you could see your Dr in a couple of days. Hugs Lilian
Hi Lilian
DeleteI know it’s so frustrating not having any consistency with who you see. I booked Pete in last month, just for our own dr to see how Pete was. Had to cancel that as he started his Radiotherapy. She’s rung us quite a few times to see how he was and to change his medication. But it’s not the same as seeing them face to face.
Afternoon ladies.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards Sandra. A very nice die set. I can see you making a lot of lovely cards with that.
It's a dark and wet day here so don't feel like doing much but managed to make the cc so will send them in a minute. Had some other ideas but forgot we going to Colchester in the morning, will be back Monday. I wish you all a nice weekend and wish anyone poorly to feeling better soon. Many warm hugs Maria xx
Hi Maria
DeleteEnjoy your weekend in Colchester.
Whooping. Blogger has finally let me in.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra and ladies
ReplyDeleteA bit late as blogger lost my original comment this morning. Then wouldn’t let me in. Great cards today Sandra. The navy and sliver one in my favourite.
I was going to come over for a cup of coffee yesterday. But spent the morning at the Drs with Pete. He has fluid on his legs and a rash on his back. So cream for the rash and water tablets for his bloated feet and legs. Blood tests next week to check his liver function.
