Simple Happy Birthday

Good Morning Ladies,

I will be glad when this final day of traveling is over, there is only so much sucking boiled sweets and eating fast food that anyone can stand, I am ready for my own bed now and a lovely roast dinner with lots of green vegetables!  We eat healthily on holiday but it's usually different salads and lots of fruit, yoghurt oh and fresh bread of course, well it's baked fresh several times a day so it would be rude not to!!

Today's cards is one of those that you make and think ''hhhmmm, I'm not sure it works"!! But I think it's grown on me!!
The beautiful paper was the inspiration for the card, it is Stampin'Up' Daisy Delight Designer Series Paper, I picked the grey out to use as an accent colour, with which I die cut the SU 'Happy Birthday' die cut and the Ribbon Border Punch, 'Pool Party' is another colour that features in the paper so I used the matching Bakers Twine to weave through the border and finished it with a bow.  I hope it grows on you too!

How many of you are going to Ally Pally this month?, I can't believe it's only a couple of weeks away, I'm sure it's earlier this year!
Margaret I hope your operation won't prevent you from coming, it just wouldn't be the same without you!

Well I had better go, get ready for the final leg of this journey, fingers crossed that Calais is straight forward this year and that the ferry crossing is smoother than our outward journey!

Have a lovely day ladies,

Love and hugs,
Sandra

  1. Morning Ladies

Gorgeous card Sandra, I love the addition of grey on it.
Fingers crossed everything goes ok for the final part of your journey.
Yesterday wasn't too bad at work but I've hardly slept, worrying about my work situation. I have an appointment with my Case Manager & Union Representative on Monday 18th at 9am so clearly this isn't going to be resolved before my holidays-great eh?!

    2. Oh Michele, I really feel for you. Everything is much worse when you're lying in bed not sleeping. Hope something/anything happens to give you some peace of mind before your hols. Hugs xxx

    3. Hi Michele
This situation is made so much worse by having to wait for it to ge resolved. No one seems to be in any hurry to resolve it either. As Val pointed out it's made so much worse by lying awake worrying about it.
Gentle hugs are coming your way. It's a shame you can't ask if the date can be brought forward. You deserve a holiday but it won't be as nice if you still have this worry hanging over you.

    4. Oh Michele, what a shame with the date. Do ask if it can be brought forward, you got nothing to lose and it would be so much better feeling for you during the holiday, sending you a hug xx

  2. Morning everyone
from a very very wet and cold Sheffield.

SANDRA- A very pretty card today. I love that background paper.

Hope the crossing isn't too bad. Paul take care driving back to Oxfordshire. If it's anything like here you will have rain.
SANDRA you will definitely need your winter woollies after that lovely warmth you've had for the last three weeks.

I managed to get me CC done yesterday so I've nothing planned for today.

The CAFE is OPEN and the HEATING is ON for you all. I've put an extra 'Brollie stand' inside the doorway as I think we'll be needing it today.

HUGS are winging their way to you all. xxxx

    1. Hi Janet
We also have cold an wet weather today. I was hoping for an Indian summer as the summer hasn't been to kind to us this year. Fat chance of that by the look of it. Sandra sure will need her winter woolies at this rate.

    2. Hi Janet, also very wet and windy here, washed the towels, but not much chance of them going out.

    3. Same weather her but I'm refusing to put the heating on yet so cardigans, socks back on and
heated bean bag sitting around my neck for some warmth and many cup of hot tea or hot chocolates. Hugs xx

  3. A very pretty card SANDRA I am Abigail fan of CAS cards
I hope the last stretch of your journey home goes OK
I am definitely coming to ALLY PALLY even if it is only to have lunch with you guys - I really shouldn't be spending money on craft stuff - yeah right!
I have daughters birthday on 15th AP 16th and a Baby Shower on 17th!
I'm never sure what to do about Baby Showers The mum to be knows I will be knitting something once I know what flavour she has Soo do I need to buy a gift for the Shower or what I'm making a card which includes a little knitted item on the front BUT do I get something else I don't want to go empty handed if that's the done thing to do...
Ooh Bake Off tonight and Strictly starts at the weekend Yay!
    Take care all xx

    1. Hi Karen
I see the dreaded predictive text has been at work again. I also shouldn't be spending any money at Ally Pally. But, somehow things just jump into my bag, well after I've paid for them of course. You are going to have a busy week next week aren't you. I'm not into baby showers. If someone I know is pregnant I usually buy a baby grow or something like that. Usually a size bigger so they can grow into them. Always a need for baby grows.

    2. Hi Karen, oh I so envy you all meeting up at Ally Pally again. One of these days eh.
I've never been to a baby shower but if your giving the mum one of your lovely knitted items when the babies born, I think just a card would do with maybe a funny message like " your gift is still on the
needles" or some such like. Sounds like you're in for a busy couple of weeks. Xxx

    3. Think I'll go with Val's thought because you give such a special present when the baby is born. You will have a busy weekend,be great to see you again. Yes Val, we will all meet one day ! xx

  4. Hi Sandra and Ladies.
Great card today. I love this combination of colours. I think this is the pad you have for me at home. So long ago I ordered it I've forgotten what I did order.
I hope the last keg of your journey is stress free and the sea crossing is ok. Not much wind here and it's just started pouring with rain. So hopefully it's not windy on your crossing.
The hospital rang me about 5.30 yesterday. ( I was hoping it was for Pete, the wheels turn very slowly ). Any how I have the treatment booked for the 19th Sept ( Petes Birthday ) and the 26th. Apparently it has to be done twice one week after the first time. I have to bring my own paracetamol to take half an hour before the light procedure.
Gentle hugs to everyone, especially Lynda, Terry and Lilian.
Cheryl I hope your foot is improving.

  5. Hello all, not feeling great again today, still I suppose it's a good way to loose a few pounds.

Sandra , very pretty card, the grey looks great, although I must confess I never use grey as I'm never sure it looks right on my style of cards.
Hope the journey is going well, hope it's better weather for you, it's quite windy here. Summer seems to have gone weeks to early.

Pat glad you have your dates come through, first time I've heard of anyone taking their own paracetamol.

Would love to be able to come to AP one year, watch the shows on Hochanda, it looks a great show, although as I'm not working any more I aught not to be spending on craft.

Have a good rest of the day everyone, hugs Lilian

    1. Hi Lilian, sorry you're not feeling to good today but not a good way to lose weight.
Like you I'd love to get to Ally Pally one of these years. It would be so good to meet up.The biggest show I get to is on the Wirral called Happy Stampers North West. It held twice a year and I have a ticket for October. Quite a few famous companies are there. I did ask John Lockwood if he'd go this year but sadly he's won't.
      Take care. Xxx

  7. Hello Sandra and Ladies,
Great cock Sandra I really love this. I think the sentiment is a must have, it's on my next shopping list !! Hope your journey today will be straightforward and uneventful. Probably the worst part will be the M25 - fingers crossed. Daughter travels on it every day from A13 to A127. On a good day it's fifteen minutes but has taken over an hour on other days - on the bad days she rings (hands free of course ) she rings Mum and Dad to pass the time away, we have our uses!

I'm not sure about AP yet as It younger daughters birthday on the 15th she can't make her mind up about celebrating on the 15th or 16th September. She doesn't want a big do. Mind you I had a wake up, I was thinking she was 49 this year- OOPS .... no mum I'm 50 she said. I think someone stole a year from my life.

LILLIAN sorry you are not feeling great. I hope your doctor can find what the problem is.

MICHELE is there any possibility of the union rep bringing the meeting forward? Like - before you holidays, it's not helping dragging the issue out, for you or the department. Try not to let it hang heavy on your shoulders. Sending gentle hugs xx

Just to let you know that Pete's had an appointment come through from the Churchill. It's on the 25th Sept another 2 weeks of worry. I had hoped we'd see Prof Prothero but perhaps he'll be there as well. Fingers crossed.
Pete has 2 other appointments for this heart on the same day at the JR. his last appointment will be at 2.30. So I'll have to tell them Pete has an appointment at the Churchill at 3.50. Don't want to cancel any of these appointments,

  10. Hi Lynda
It's boo hoo from us that you can't make Ally Pally either. We'll miss seeing both you and Terry, my word your computer is temperamental isn't it. We also don't seem to want to eat much either. I think it's all the worry and waiting. We're seeing Dr Chitnis she is super nice and has a very bouncy upbeat style. But we'd still rather see the head honcho Prof Prothero. Yes, Lynda and soon as we finish with 1 heart dept, we'll go straight to the next one and explain.
Gentle hugs to both you and Terry. Will miss you both loads.

Apparently according to Margaret it's going to be bigger than ever this time so you might need more pennies.
That's a good idea PAT with Pete's appointments hope it works out for you. It's like buses wait for ages then three come along together. Wishing Pete all the best. When do you go back to hospital PAT.
