Sophie's Card for Paul

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

I hope that the weather is going to be kind to you all this weekend,  as I am writing this we are expecting a night of Thunder storms, so hopefully it will clear the skies and we get a calm enough day to get one last day on the beach.  We have booked to go out for dinner tonight and then tomorrow we will stop at our favourite Chicken place on the way to the airport.

This is the card Sophie made for Paul for his birthday,  apart from Jungle Book being on of our favourite films,  Paul always tans super fast on holiday so when he got back to work after holiday his Lads took to referring to him as 'Mohgli' !!  So if you zoom in you will see that Soph has turned us all into Jungle book characters.   Her cards always make you smile,  she is so incredibly talented

What a difference a day makes

Good Friday Morning Ladies,

What a difference a day makes!  We are sat in rain most of yesterday and forecast was for cloudy miserable weather for today and tomorrow,   however after a night of very heavy rain we woke up to sunshine,  my phone weather app said sun till 11am but the girls were determined to make the best of any sunshine,  so we set off for the pool and apart from a brief chilly spell around 1pm for 10 minutes we had a full day of sun, my rather pink chest is proof of that, even though I still applied suncream!  It was a lovely relaxing day, I finished another book, guess what happened....thats right the got married and lived happily ever after!! 😂🤣😅
I can't believe its Friday and our holiday holiday is almost over, the girls have 2 full days we have three, we will leave Monday Morning and get the ferry Wednesday.

Today's cards are two from last August using Tim Holtz  Floral Trims I coloured them with Distress Watercolour Pencils.  I love how bright and vibrant the colours are, cards that would brighten someones day I think.

I hope that you all have a good Friday,

Love & Hugs

Paul's Birthday card from Sonia

Good Morning Ladies,

We had a rainy day yesterday,  pretty much all day, they need it round here as there are in the midst of another drought,  which is why Olive Oil has more than doubled in price, we thought it might be cheaper here but it isn't,  its as expensive but you can get nicer quality for the same price as Aldi's basic one (around £7), so I think we'll bring a couple of bottles home.

It was lovely to have a do nothing day,  everyone was sat reading,  Lucy is reading Richard Osmond (pointless)  Murder Club series, Sophie isn't much of a reader but decided to change that and has read 3 of the Harry Potter books already,  Paul reads David Baldacci , it took me 2 weeks to finish my Miriam Margoleyes book, it was so long, she didn't hide her true opinions of people and named them too, she has had a fun life, I hadn't realised that she grew up in Oxford.  I am now on a 'Saucy Romance'  we always laugh because the story line is pretty much always the same but they are an easy read.              The rain stopped at around 5pm, I suggested we go to the beach to see if the sea had got rougher after the storm,  Lucy and I had a paddle and it felt relatively warm, probably because the sun wasn't out, it was still around 22°,  so I had the crazy idea of 'lets get changed and have a swim '  Paul and Soph seemed a little reluctant but they all decided to go for it, so we git changed and all went it, of course the minute we got in the waves got 10 times bigger, it was fun though and we stayed in about an hour!  It was a fun end to the day, we got out because the sky went really dark with storm clouds.   As I am writing this (10pm) there is a huge storm over the mountains,  the lightning is giving usca great show, no rain here yet though.

Today I am sharing the lovely card that Sonia made for Paul for his Birthday,  I love the simplicity of the shaded background and that sentiment die is amazing,  the top layer of the die cut is super sparkly glitter card, that works so well with the grey inked background.

Thank you so much for such a lovely card Sonia XXX

I hope that you all have a good day,

Love & Hugs

The last of the Dainty flowers Dsp cards

Good Wednesday Morning Ladies,

Yesterday was a different day for us,  I hardly slept on Monday night due to the heat and not being able to get comfortable, the mattresses are really naff but that's kind of just how it is, I'm sure they just get thrown away at the end of the season!  Any to cool of I went and sat on the deck area for a couple if hours, it was so calm, all I could hear was the waves, so relaxing!  I was just nodding off at one point and I almost tipped out of my recliner however as two cats started fighting,  the noise they were making  sounded terrifying, I tried to see if I could see them to break them up but I couldn't and wasn't about to go searching at 2am.!!!

We had a cloudy start to the day and a few spots of rain,  the sun came out at about 11.30am so we sat out and read for a couple of hours, then got ready to go to a nearby town called Estartit, its certainly not somewhere we'd ever stay, it's very much like 'Benidorm' there are a lot if  British people,  the shops and restaurants cater for that too,  "Rovers Return" pub,  there's a cafe called "Only fools and Horses"  they play the show on repeat and you can get an 'All day Breakfast',  I want to try and give an idea of the people that go there but I don't want to be offensive, the most popular clothes are football shirts, the language and behaviour of some of them is nothing short of embarrassing!   We go every year for an afternoon/early evening because the girls love that they have one long street of "looky looky" shops, selling holiday tat,  bracelets,  different pottery,  knock off designer stuff, one shop sells, the biggest knives, swords, machete's you have ever seen,  BB guns that look very much like real guns,  cross bows & catapults  various other weapons and drug paraphernalia too, I just don't understand how its allowed, but I guess they have different rules here, its terrifying,  especially when you see whats been happening at least monthly at home.

The girls wanted us to have matching ankle bracelets, so we were looking for those, we always do the same route, we get some chips at one end of the street, then have a slow stroll down and at some point stop at the most amazing ice cream parlour, the flavours they have are amazing,  I had mango, which was incredible,  Lucy had Kinder Bueno White, which she loved,  Paul had 'Snickers' which had lots of caramel and peanuts, Soph had one called Llet Merengada, which is like Cinnamon milk, she said it was the nicest icecream she's ever had.  We continued our browsing and people watching,  why do people let their children do what they like, we were looking at jewellery in one shop and there were toys too, at shop door there was a basket with footballs in, this family allowed their children to take 3 footballs and kick them up and down the street, not taking care of were they were kicking them bare in mind its a busy street,  the paths were wet as it had been raining, the shop keeper was clearly unhappy about the situation and asked the parents to pay for the balls, they were about 4 Euro,  the parents had no intention of paying for them, their kids had been kicking them around for a good 15 minutes at this point,  the shouted (very loudly and sweary) at their kids to put the fff'ing balls back, they were filthy, the owner wasn't happy, but was told to get over it, kids were just having fun!!!  Be beat a hasty retreat, its so embarrassing,  because they speak same language as us I don't want to be tarred with the same brush!!

We finish our evening with a bag of fresh Churros and lovely walk (well roll in my case🤣) along the Harbour, they have built a lovely promenade,  you walk along at the bottom of sime cliffs,  the sea was crystal clear, a lovely end to an interesting afternoon 🤣😂, we got back around 8pm.

Todays card is the last of the Dainty Floral papers, I used a Navy card base then used the reverse of one of the sheets as the first layer, I put it at an angle to show the different colours featured in the splattered design, I then offset the top layer, adding twine before adhering it, I used an off cut of Navy card to stamp my sentiment, which embossed in white, I then finished with 3 of the little Daisy's tucked in behind three sentiment.   I really like this one,  I hope you do too.

Sending my love and hugs to all of you,

A lovely card by Maria

Good Morning Ladies,

After a bit of an unsettled day on Sunday we were blessed with beautiful sunshine and calm sea!  That sun seemed extra hot yesterday,  even the girls moved into the shade in the afternoon.  We were caught out at lunchtime as the shop on our complex has started to close for two hours between 2 & 4pm, so we had to get creative for lunch, if any of you have ever seen my pantry you will know that I always have to have something on standby, so we were ok, we had a lot of fruit that needed eating too, so it was quite a healthy lunch. Today we need to be more organised and get the bread before 2pm.  We were still sat in the sun by the pool at 7.30pm as it was still so lovely.

Today I am sharing a card that our Maria made, the papers you have used are beautiful Maria and look so striking against the black base card.  I love the envelope style layout too.                                                Thank you so much for allowing me to share your card XXX

Lilian I look forward to seeing your cushions,  which style of Tim Holtz fabric do you have?

I hope that you all have a good day,

Love and hugs to all of you,

Ombre Die cut card

Good Monday Morning Ladies,

Welcome to the start of a new week,  how are you all?

We had a different day yesterday as it was cloudy up until about 2pm with a shower over lunch time,  as I am writing this (about 8pm) we have just come back from a couple of hours by the pool while the sun was out, its very humid right now, it feels like we are going to have a storm!   I will update you if it happens!

Today's card was quite a quick card to make, I used a piece of ombre card from a pad that I bought from the works years ago!   I added a SU die cut corner and a couple of butterflies all in white.  To finish I added a couple of diamantés to the centres of flowers and the sentiment stamped in matching ink.

I hope that your week  gets off to a great start,

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra xxx

Some of your lovely cards

Good Sunday Morning Ladies,

I hope that you are all enjoying a lovely relaxed weekend.

Well August like every other month this year disappeared in a flash!  Welcome September,  a lovely month,  the trees are so beautiful to look at.

I'm sure you must get bored of our daily holiday updates as they are a little boring.  We did venture to the local market yesterday but it was really disappointing,  apart from a fruit and veg stall every stall was selling 'knock off' designer stuff, from bags timo shoes and hats, belts etc. I don't understand how any of them make money when they are all selling the exact same rubbish!  Nothing local or even Catalan or Spanish for that matter.

The rest of the day was pretty much the same as always, we were in the sea by 10.30, it was a bit cloudy at first but the sun soon burnt through, we stayed until early afternoon,  then had a lazy lunch and went to the pool, I have turned into a crazy bird lady and take bread with me every day to the pool, there are some baby birds that constantly pester their mummy's for food so I like to do my bit to help, I make Paul but the extra seedy bread so its better for them.  I did suggest we get some mealworms but Paul just gave me the "thats too far" look 🙄🤣😂

Let's look at what you have made this week....

Karen

Karen's Description:

My first attempt at those Sizzix layering stencils and a black heat embossed stamp from Inkyliscious

Karen the stencils are a triumph,  I am definitely going to treat myself,  my birthday card from Maria was done with a layered stencil too and its stunning!
Thank you so much for sending me so many cards to share xxx

Maria

Maria used 'shapes' as her theme for her cards this week.  Such a great idea!
Your cards are so lovely, the one with the stamped flower is stunning Maria !  😍  Stamping over the different layers can be a pain to line up but yours is perfect.
Thank you so much for sending cards for me to share. XXX

Lilian

Lilian's Description:

Here is my card for this week.

I used a sheet of the lovely papers you sent me.

Then I stamped in night of navy, one of my favourite colours using the stamping up trees, and another small stamp from my stash.

Wow Lilian the stamping you have added looks like it was meant to be there.  Aren't those Tim Holtz sentiments handy?! I love adding them to simple cards as they just sit in the background without overtaking your work.

Thank you so much for continuing to send cards for me to share XXX

I hope that you all enjoy the rest of the weekend,

Love & Hugs,
