Mixed Up Saturday

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

I love this quote,  its very true, I daren't add yp the hours I spend over the course of a week ! 😳🤫

Unsurprisingly the River Thames has burst its banks and the surrounding fields are flooding,  I guess we are no longer in a drought !   A good frost the farmers could open a skating ring, I'm sure it would go down a treat in sleepy hollow where the average age is 75 🤣😅

Have you got plans for the weekend?  I fancy doing some baking, my sisters have just confirmed that they are coming to us for an 'early family Christmas'  on the weekend before Christmas, so I want to start getting prepared.  There will be around 16 I think.  It will be lovely having everyone together, I will definitely need a day or two to recover though!

It's been a funny week, I am glad the weekend is here, I want to just stay home abd relax, I had a full on anxiety episode on Wednesday,  it has really knocked me for six as it was combined with 'Mother Natures Gift' so back to sleepless,  long nights this past couple nights.  Fingers crossed tonight will ge a good one,  we have a film to watch which helps!

Sue has very kindly written us a review on her  Simply cards and papercraft magazine.......

Simply Cards & Papercraft

   Issue 236 review

Simply cards and papercraft has 3 free gifts and free matching paper downloads this month.
There is a Tonic studios Treble cleft die, a Christmas music embossing folder and a stamp set of Christmas sentiments and musical notes.
There are some lovely cards made using them, both for Christmas and the rest of the year.

The first article I want to show is some Christmas cards using the freebies. They are all quite quick to make and could all be for the men in our lives so even more useful.

The How To: creates a sparkly festive card which is lovely.

Tried and Tested Blending brushes

this month is for blending brushes and a stand to hold them all. Both are a good buy and the stand can be used for other things too. Now Sandra already has the brushes but she bought the stand to hold her everyday craft tools so they didn’t disappear every time she crafts and it works perfectly for that too.

There are some cards to make using the brushes to blend your inks together. It really is so much easier to blend with them.

There are gift tags, bags, gift boxes and a card to make here using the freebies and the downloads.

The How To: create a treasure chest chocolate coin box. It would make a perfect present for a child to give to their teacher.

Using masks is a good way of adding more depth to your images.

How To: master the basics, creating masked scenes with stencils & Post-its

The heading says it all. It clearly shows you how to master this technique with stamps that you probably have at home. I really love the little bird sat on the wreath. I want to have a go so watch this space!

Making your own paper place labels, menu and place mats makes the Christmas table so much more personal. This article will explain how to try using faux calligraphy if you haven’t mastered the real thing yet.

Here we are shown several different ways of using our dies instead of just simply using them to die cut. There are some useful tips and hints.

Here are some more lovely cards that are great for the males. Most of them could become birthday cards with a change of sentiment. I love the richness of the colours used and the card styles.

Here is another way of using your dies. There is an In-depth Guide To: create your own stamps using dies.

Out of the box die-cutting techniques are explained here and used to make these gorgeous cards. I think we all would love to receive one of these beauties.

As always if you would like any more details please just let me know. Take care Sue xx

Love the quote, I can waste hours on Pinterest 😉
Great magazine review, thanks Sue. Some good articles in there and lovely freebies ☺️
Sandra if you’re doing some baking, I can recommend Jane’s Patisserie for recipes. She has a website and Facebook page. I’ve made a few of her recipes ☺️
Karen, hope you’re ok and you can enjoy looking after the boys xx
I was up and in Tesco by 8.30 this morning and then to Aldi. Both were pretty busy, but I’m glad I’ve got that job done. I even got a few Christmas bits.
    Have a lovely day everyone
Sending hugs to you all xxx

  3. Hello All, very cold here this morning, it was 2 deg this morning, also damp feeling.
Sorry I forgot to comment yesterday, great idea for next week, will try and do something a bit more challenging next week, great cards for inspiration.
Karen hope your feeling better, especially as you are looking after the young ones.

Love that saying, I spend ages looking for inspiration. Sue your magazine review is very good, might be tempted.

Going to have Kentucky fried chicken tonight, to celebrate our anniversary, it’s 57yrs tomorrow, it amazes where the years have gone.
Hope you are all having a good weekend, Lilian.
