Mixed Up Saturday including Magazine Review

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

I hope that you are all warm and cosy my lovely friends, what are you all up to this weekend?  I know our Maria is off to have fun on the Snow in Austria, (Zell am See) .  You deserve this break Maria, I hope you and Rick have a lovely time.

Homemade Gesso Recipe

To make my 'Emergency ' Gesso I used the following Recipe:

1/4 Cup of Talcum Powder

1 Tablespoon of White Glue  (I used some Pink Frog and a little Aleene Tacky Glue)

1 Tablespoon White Acrylic Paint

Simply Mix the three ingredients well until you get a smooth consistency, you can add a little water to thin it a little.

I used it on a thin page in a journal,  which it covered well and strengthened and as you can see it covered the piece of MDF ok too.   Which isn't bad, it basically cost a few pence and it did ok considering.  To test it even further I popped sone in a little pot and added some more Talcum Powder,  I mixed to a thicker consistency and used it as Embossing Paste,  through quite a delicate mask, it worked really well, gave a lovely deep emboss too.

Magazine Review Die-cutting Essentials

Issue 85

This first Issue if 2022 comes with a set of Flower Making Dies and some Flower Foam too.

The Lovely Christina Griffiths shows us how to use her flower dies and the rest of the bits in the Free Kit. There are some lovely cards in this feature.

I love this technique and I am 100% going to have a go with it too, we all have simple dies that would work well for this technique.  Its such a lovely look and a great way to use up different backgrounds you have made or scraps of patterned paper.

Wow these are bright and cheerful,  all made using thin frame dies.  Quite a clever idea and not one that I would have thought of doing.

Some more ideas for using the Free dies, this time making Home Decor, some fun ideas,  not really my cup of tea though.

Another great idea for using up bits of background that you have created or get your Bit Boxes out and have a play!!

Here is a close up of the method this designer used to emboss patterns on her die cut shapes. Sone of the designs are lovely, I love the heart ❤.

What a fantastic idea, using dies we already have too! Who wouldn't love a Spinner card!

A closer look at the instructions but I can do a step by step if would like one.

Some more ideas for the free dies,  using paper (for when your foam has run out)!  Some lovely cards in this feature.

This feature shows you some inspirational ideas for using the Free Digi-stamps that you get with this issue. (I always forget about them)!!

That's all for today Ladies,  I hope that you all have a lovely weekend.

  4. Hello All, back to cold dark days again, it was lovely to have a couple of sunny days which they could have lasted longer.

The new pills the GP gave had absolutely no effect at all, up most of the night with the pain.

    Love the saying, very true.
Great magazine review, very tempted to buy this one, although I am only supposed to buying what I really need.

Maria , glad you tested negative, and your ready to take off on your holidays.

Have a good day , I’m trying to do another page it’s taking me ages, will have to be for next week. Lilian
