Monday Challenge

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that you all had a lovely weekend, some of you got to spend time in the garden yesterday but it rained here from lunchtime, in fact I think the rain is set is timer that clicks on just as my washing machine finishes!
Matt cut both lawns just in time and Paul managed to get some blueberry bushes planted too.
Luckily we have a large entrance hall in this house so we had 2 clothes airers out all day, I hate it though, I like to see it blowing on the line.

The weeks Challenge is something different for a change I think it's something you can all manage quite easily.....

I would like you to make your own Background for your card, I don't mind how you create it, there are so many different techniques you could use.

You could we ink to an Embossing Folder (letterpress)
Or just emboss and add ink to highlight detail
Pixie Powders/Mica powder
Distress Oxides/Distress Inks
Stamped Background
Serif Craft Artist /Scan&Cut (just for you Karen) πŸ˜‰
Groovi backgrounds too (Pat)

To name but a few,  I'm pretty sure there are a lot more that I haven't thought of.

This is the background I created ....

I used nothing but plain white card to create my card, the background was created by stamping with Distress Oxides, using the Sheltering tree Stamp set
I used the tree foliage for the main pattern, stamping in Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry and Tattered Rose Oxides and then the small dots at the bottom of the stamp set stamped after I finished the main colours, stamped in Versamark clear ink and then I added gold embossing powder and heat set. (Making Sure all other ink was dry first).  Adding that little touch of gold really gives that special touch of luxury I think.
I then cut a piece of card slightly bigger than my coloured piece and added versamark around the edges, I then added gold embossing powder and heat set, this gives the same gold as in the main element, I did the same for the mat behind my flag and the leaves.
My pink layer was simply white card coloured with Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide, it goes onto the card so smoothly, it honestly looks like coloured card.
I finished by mounting onto a white card base.
I used the Sunshine Sayings and matching thinlits to create my sentiment, which I stamped on to piece of white card coloured with Picked Raspberry and I then used my Banner Triple punch to create the flag tail.
The flowers were cut from a piece of the stamped background using a die from May Flower Thinlits'.
I hope you like my card and it inspires you a little.

Have a lovely day ladies,

Love and hugs to all

Sandra

Gorgeous card Sandra & a really interesting challenge got us this week. My mind is already tryptophan work out what’s up In my craft room to start this challenge -pity I have to go to work!

We ended up having a fine day yesterday so we did an hours weeding which was more than enough . I then had a play in my craft room which was nice. Unfortunately my brother & wife didn’t have time to call in to see us but they did see Dad which was great and I know he was pleased as he told me all about their visit when I phoned him last night.

  3. Morning Everyone
We didn't have a too bad day yesterday the rain held off until evening and we have a sunny start here. Fingers and everything that can be crosSAsed that the weather forecast shown last night on Country File comes true this week.

SANDRA- an interesting challenge this week. At the moment I haven't a clue what to do but I'm sure something will pop into my head at some stage.

It's Mr Tesco this morning and then I'm hoping to do a little crafting. Jim is on duty today and tomorrow so I'll be having a peaceful afternoon.

The CAFE is OPEN and it's lovely to see all the windows open with a little vase of Daffs on each table to welcome you all.

HUGS are on their way to you all.xxxx

Thanks for the nod to Serif and ScanNCut!
I may use Serif BUT use a technique to create the background
We didn’t go dancing in the end So I caught up with the ironing and was able to finish a couple of Kerry Lord’s crocheted animals
I need some advice If any of you create roses with a Spellbinder die what weight paper/card do you use please I am trying to finish a wedding card and hoped to use other flowers but wedding cards scream for roses me thinks
    Have a good day ladies

  5. Morning everyone,
Lovely card and interesting challenge Sandra. No ideas at the moment but hopefully my grey cells will start to work.
LYNDA congratulations on winning a prize. Hope both of you and your fur babies are well. Has your fur visitor gone home now?
Thank you ladies for your tips on needle threading. I didn't realise there were such helpful gadgets out there.x
Our new washing machine is being delivered later thank goodness. How three people can create so much washing I just don't know. We have both washing baskets full plus a pile of bedding and its only been four days!
Although it rained during the night its another lovely sunny day. Just going to make a coffee and sit outside and read a magazine before I start some housework.
Enjoy your day ladies whatever you're up to.
    Love Valx

    1. Hi Val
Well I’m envious that you can sit outside and have a cup of coffee ☕️. It rained in Oxfordshire overnight but looked like the sun ☀️ might come out. We’re busy planning our trip to London with friends. A shame it’s not until the beg June though. We usually go early May but our friends are going away for a few days on the 18th May. I booked the hotel months ago, plus we’ve booked a show already. Kinky Boots πŸ‘’in London. We wanted to see the new Tina Turner show which opened in March but the tickets were over a £100. So we’ll probably go next year to see it.

    2. You're trip sounds good Pat. We only have Am Dram over here although they're fantastic I'd love to get to London one day to see a professional show. Mind you £100 sounds a lot for a few hours entertainment. Looking at the weather forecast it looks like the UK is in for some lovely weather from the middle of the week. Hope the hospital visits are going OK.x

    3. Thanks Val. We usually pay about £70 for a London show. Not to sure how much those tickets were. We got on the train and get 2 for 1 on the London attractions. I pay the hotel bill for the 4 days were there. So Pat ( Petes friend ) pays for everything else except meals. We get a free 3 course meal at the hotel ( the President ) in Russell Sq on the first night. We then settle up at the end. I usually end up having to pay just a few pounds. We decided this year to have a meal at the hotel every night. It costs £15.00 each for 3 courses. We pay as much as that for 2 courses if not a bit more. We usually have a Carvery.

    4. Only 1 visit for the next 3 weeks. But Pete has 3 visits over 2 days towards the end of May. It’s his last Radium treatment on the 10 May, but we don’t know what happens after that.

  6. Hello All, it’s sunny here but a very cold wind, still should dry the bedding well, at the moment it’s looking like a hot air ballon on the line.

Great challenge this will try and do something that will suit.

Heard form the hospital today, still no new meds, but another appointment in cardiology, but not until the 10th of May.

Well done Lynda on winning Julia’s card.

Have a good day all, Lilian

Great to see you in again today. Hope your feeling a bit better today even though you’ve not got new meds. Not to long to wait until May. Not to sure what the weather is trying to do today here. Pete got the washing dry bit uts quite cloudy and a bit windy.

    1. Hi Lynda
Congratulations on winning on Julia’s blog. I haven’t seen the card though. Must find her blog and have a look. We also got washing to dry today. Just the problem of ironing it now.

  9. Hello Sandra and ladies,
I love your card Sandra, the background is absolutely gorgeous. This is a really classy card. I did play with some Brushos earlier trying to create background, the only thing I created was a mess!!! Apart from that I've had a very quiet day. Last night I didn't get much sleep, I kept nodding off and waking up every half an hour or so. So I have taken things easy today, hope tonight will be better.

LYNDA congratulations on your win on Julia's blog.

    Hugs for everyone, Brenda xxx
