Good Wednesday Morning Ladies,
We were treated to a gloriously sunny day yesterday, it was chilly but that sun was still shining at 7pm, I got all Lucy's holiday washing done and hung on line. It was lovely having the windows open too, let that fresh air circulate! Paul is in the office all week this week so I am trying to keep busy, Lucy is here today, Flynn had to return to Port today as he had a briefing and Dentist, which he wasn't looking forward to, he left after lunch yesterday and should be back later today. This is the first time he has been back to 'work' since he returned from Dubai.
Well i had some right messy fun in my craft room yesterday, I tried one technique with an embossing folder that turned out to be a total disaster, you had to put a piece of card in folder that had been coated with clear embossing ink, run it through the add powder and heat set, so that the background of the 3D embossed piece was coated in clear embossing, you then added colour to all the raised parts and allow to dry, once dry you take a black posca pen and colour all background areas so that the coloured areas pop, then hit the raised areas with gold gilding wax. But i didn't get that far, trying to get the whole background covered with clear ink was all but impossible, then after colouring trying to get between each narrow leaf and flower with a black marker, girls it was bloody impossible without it touching the raised areas, so after about 10 mins with black marker it went in the bin!! I shall not be bothering with that technique again, hers did look good but she must have had a narrower tipped marker and a lot more patience!!!!
So into today's card, a slightly easier technique, I think i have done this on acetate before but couldn’t remember. I took a piece of Vellum and my alcohol Stampin Blends in Dark Melon Mambo, Dark Rich Razzleberry, Dark Polished Pink and Dark Purple Posy, I scribbled them all over my piece imof vellum and then spritzed with lots of Isopropyl Alcohol 90% and watched as the colours all merged together, I did add some heat with ny heat tool and it dried really fast, I wasn't happy with it though so I added more Isopropyl and heated again. Once dry I trimmed it down to 4 3/4 inch square, Top Tip I cut the same size piece of white card and slightly smaller piece of double sided sticky sheet, i added that to the card and then adhered the vellum to the sticky piece of card, what an absolute game changer for adhering vellum without any adhesive showing. To decorate the card I used the flower spray from SU Artistic die set, die cut it twice and adhered to card, I put some matching dotsvin centre, the sentiment die is from Craft Stash, I die cut that twice too and attempted to line them up but don't look too close, by this time I was working on a pile of stuff that I had got out to try and not put away and my patience had reached its peak and gone!! π€£ππ It doesn't look too bad though.
Lilian: I hope machine arrives and is simple to operate, to answer your question from yesterday: I dried between each dip in the ink with my Heat tool, I was too impatient to wait for it to dry on the AGA as I was excited to see how it turned out XXX
I hope that you all have a good day,
Love and hugs to all of you,
Sandra xxxxxx
Hi everyone
ReplyDeleteLove your card today, it’s beautiful π
I love using vellum, and also recently read about using double sided adhesive sheets to attach to a card. Such a great idea, why have we never thought of that before?! ☺️
The embossing folder technique does sound like a bit of a palaver, I’d have given up to! These demonstrators always make it look so easy!
I’ll be crafting today, after a browse on Pinterest π
Have a lovely day everyone
Sending hugs to you all xxx
Your card is beautiful I have done this technique with glossy card I love the effect with vellum I’d have given up on the EF one I did watch a lady using black gesso on a EF and then swiped with interference CS Opal polish- works different on black to white card I wonder if any of the “new” products would work I don’t have any black gesso So I won’t be trying it π€£
ReplyDeleteHad a lovely afternoon watching Oscar play in our local park with a couple of school friends We are lucky to have such a beautiful beauty spot so close It was lovely to see him interact with his friends
We are off to bowls this afternoon It will be nice to catch up with everyone after the winter break OH is off to Chelsea this evening Too dark to craft but will crochet instead

Hi everyone
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous card Sandra. Love how the colours have floated together.
Lilian, hope your machine arrives as it should and the installing goes fine. Hope your back is a bit better.
Waiting for the shopping to arrive but after that we are going out for a bit. Might start on a card this afternoon.
Have a nice day everyone. Take care. Many hugs to you all xx
Hi Sandra and all looking in. Both yesterday and todays cards are lovely. And what a genius idea for attaching vellum…a real “Doh” moment π
ReplyDeleteWe had a beautiful day yesterday too. Home now and in bed…. you know how it goes but we had a lovely time.
I’m sending you all love and hugs. Take care xx
Hello Sandra Anne ladies,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card from you today Sandra, I have tried this technique I used paper, also tried very lightly dusting in a few areas with gold dust (can’t remember what it’s called) the effect was very satisfying. Totally understand why you binned the card you made using the EF.
Been a quiet day today, John did the shopping this morning and that’s about as exciting as the day got. I haven’t been in my craft room all week but did go in to look at the patterns I created using alcohol inks ( I did them last December) So you have awoken my interest once again Sandra. Thank you once again xx
I hope everyone has had a good day and you all manage to have a good nights sleep. Take care dear friends, Hugs Brenda xxx
.
That should read I used YUPO paper
DeleteHello, cold but dry.
ReplyDeleteWashing machine arrived, and installed and working fine fingers crossed. It was a difficult job so the young man informed me.
Bought another indesit , I’ve had two before lasted over 30 years, so I thought I’d go with the same make. What I notice is how quiet it is. One of the cheapest.
Sandra love todays card, I always thought you shouldn’t use a heat gun when using alcohol, but obviously you had not problems.
Not started this weeks card, not sure what I’m going to do. Big hugs to all Lilian
