Your Bright & Bold Challenge cards

Good Morning Ladies,

I know that some of you weren't as comfortable with this challenge but you have smashed it once again, we have another incredible display of cards, the café is going to look very bright and cheerful this weekend....

 Brenda

Brenda I love both of your Challenge cards, both are perfect for teenagers, that die cut you have used on the bottom card is stunning.

For the First card I used Honey Doo stamps ‘Paint Splodges’, I used my Oxides for this card, I brushed Hickory Smoke over a piece of white card then using the splodge stamps I think I used every colour of Oxides I have.  I added StampinUp Happy Birthday diecut -  job done!

The second one is one of the dies I got at Ally Pally last weekend, it’s a Crafters Companion die from the Create-a-Card range, this on is called Grande Swirls.
I’ve just backed the die cut panel with some Multi coloured Valium I’ve had for ever, added a little bit of ribbon and a small sentiment tag.

Thank you so much for two fantastic Challenge cards. xxx

Janet

Janet has made three fantastic cards for this weeks Bright & Bold Challenge, that first card is absolutely beautiful Janet, you would feel really special if you received that card on your birthday,
the second card is a real luxury card, made using lots of lovely foiled card, that feather is so delicate Janet, so pretty too.
Janet's 3rd card is one of her lovely Dolly Dimples images, framed with a Sue Wilson die, embellished with Gingham Ribbon and that gorgeous flower topped with a Gingham button.

Thank you so much Janet for 3 beautiful cards xxx

 Karen

Karen has made two stunning Bright & Bold Challenge cards, I love the colours you have chosen for both of these cards Karen.
Karen's 1st card is made using a paper pieced SW Frames & Tags die - Tulip I used the leftover scraps of the Sharpie piece from previous card and the background is the SW Basketweave die I won on her blog launch.

Here’s a bright and bold cc
The background has been made doing the Sharpie technique and the die is an old Memory Box one - can’t remember the name As you can see it’s a personalised one.

Two stunners Karen thank you so much, why is it that when you do the 'Sharpie Technique' you get amazing results, I just got a mess!! xxx

 Lilian

WOW Lilian, such a beautiful card, the colours of your flowers are just stunning, you have coloured them so beautifully too, with perfect shading, the pretty die cut corners frame your bouquet perfectly, this card would certainly brighten someone's day as they opened it.

Here is Lilian's description, I love the little story that you sent with it Lilian, it's so lovely when something reminds us of a lovely memory...

You asked for bright colours, so immediately thought of this stamp of Anemone de Caine, they are always in bright colours and white. When I was little my Dad and Rs Dad used to grow them to sell at Covent Garden flower market. Sorry can’t remember who made the stamp, think it might be an old Kan Ban one from Q V C.

Thank you Lilian for such a beautiful challenge card, you certainly came back with a bang! xxx

 Lynda

Lynda has created a WOW card too, that Honey Doo Rose card is just stunning Lynda, your colouring is incredible, the shading is spot on, you could literally frame that card and have as a piece of art, maybe three of them in different colours.  Your second card is gorgeous too, I think that this card was made with one of your new Leonie masks?!

First one: Honey Dew rose stamp I got from AP, Coloured with spectrum Noir pen's

Second one is a Leonie stencil I used distress oxide too colour & SW flower.

After reading your description I can see that you did use a Leonie Mask for your second card, the distress oxides just seem to work perfectly for everything don't they?!
Thank you so much for taking part xxx

 Val

Val, I just love the beautiful decorative paper that you have used to create this stunning 'Eclipse' card.
Your die cut letters stand out beautifully.
Adding those pearl embellishments to the centres of the flowers really brings the flowers forward, (rather than being lost in the background).
Lynn will absolutely love this card Val, thank you so much for taking part.  By the way if this is what you make when you aren't really feeling like crafting it shows what an incredible card designer you are, some of us would struggle to create something that special on a good day.  I do hope that you start to feel brighter and get your desire to sit and create cards back very soon my lovely xxx

Maria

Maria, wowsers, is the word that came to mind when I downloaded your cards, so beautiful, that first card is just stunning, so perfectly coloured, you have chosen colours that compliment each other perfectly, your colouring is just amazing.
The colouring on your second card reminds me of Hydrangea's (the ones that are either pink or blue depending on your soil).  Placing the fussy cut flower in the centre of a doily was an brilliant idea, one that I will be borrowing (if you don't mind) hehehe.
Rick's Mum will absolutely love this card, 'Wishing you brighter days'' is a lovely sentiment that can work perfectly in place of 'Get Well Soon' particularly if someone isn't necessarily going to get better.

It's so nice to see that so many of you are using your Spectrum Noir pens too, the colours in them are so rich and I love the sparkle too.

Thank you so much Maria for two stunning cards for this weeks challenge xxx

Michele

Two brilliant 'Bright and Bold' cards from Michele, they are both older cards but fit perfectly for our challenge this week, they are both fabulous enough for a second viewing too.

The first card uses some beautiful pink & aqua decorative papers to create a gorgeous background, adding the black border makes those colours 'pop' even more Michele, the Cherry Blossom pattern is so delicate and the little butterflies in your topper are the perfect addition.

Michele's second card features an adorable Hedgehog that has been decorated with tiny swirls, the colour of him is bright and bold for sure, again adding the black frame was a touch of genius Michele as it really highlights those colours perfectly.

Thank you so much for two fabulous cards, I hope that you are feeling better after a day away from work my lovely, it looks like the stress of work is really starting to affect your health, you need to talk to someone about lightening your load at work otherwise you are going to end up being off work for a long time with stress related health problems. Please take care my lovely xxx

Sue

A lovely bright pink tree adorned with silver glitter birds, hearts and sentiment is a perfect combination for this weeks challenge card Sue.
Thank you for such a pretty little card, I really wish I could have got my hands on that magazine die.
I hope your head has cleared too my lovely xxx

Margaret

Margaret has used two different Stampin Up DSP sets for her Bright and Bold Challenge cards for this week.
The first is a recent one called 'Needle point Nook' the papers are all actual images of embroidery or other stitch techniques that SU have turned into papers, they are beautiful to look at. Margaret has simply matched a piece of the paper with card in two shades that compliment the card beautifully.

The second card features papers from the 'Garden Impressions' 6x6 designer series paper range, they are all really brightly coloured abstract designs, this time Margaret has made a little Notelet card using two coordinating pieces of paper from the range.

Thank you so much Margaret for two beautiful cards. xxx

There you go ladies, I did say it was an incredible display, thank you to all of you that took part, you really do make my week when I open your emails/messages and see the stunning cards you have created.  It was so lovely having a Lilian card to share this week too, thank you my lovely, I hope you enjoyed making it as much as I enjoyed looking at it.

Have a lovely Sunday ladies,

Love and hugs to all,

Sandra

  1. Morning Ladies

So many lovely cards today on display. I simply ran out of time this week. Work has been exceptionally busy but hopefully with the new recruits things will improve soon.

Had a lovely meal out yesterday lunchtime-was nice to have a catch up with my Brother & Sister in Law.

    2. Hi Michele. Congratulations on your 75th donation. You and everyone who donates are fantastic. So many lives are saved because of you. As Sandra pointed out she has been helped by someone like you taking a couple of hours 3 times a year to give blood. I actually think it should be compulsory from the age of 17 to donate at least once a year unless you are unable to due to health issues. Sadly like several of us here I am unable to donate because of that but Chris started donating blood when he was 18 then like Brenda’s John went on to monthly plasma dining for many years. Wear your badge with pride Michele x

    3. Hi Janet. I love your cards today especially the poppy one, it is stunning.
I see Val has told you the challenge words and I apologise if you have already tried the following but if not I hope it helps you any time you want to see something closer up.
To enlarge the text, image etc. tap the middle of the screen once and another page with the same image should open up which you can make as big as you want by touching the middle of the screen with thumb and index fingers pinched together then still touching the screen open fingers out until the page is as big as you want. Now I’m really not sure if that makes any sense so please can someone else explain it better for Janet.
Please can I join you for one of your yummy roast beef lunch x

  3. Hi ladies
What beautiful cards today. All so bright and cheerful.x

My comment yesterday doesn't seem to be there.
Lovely boxes Danni. Bet they're very well received.
Michele thank you for the great magazine review. Really like the free gift. Also many congratulations on receiving your blood donors certificate. 75 is an amazing amount and you should be very proud.x
Fantastic buys from Ally Pally ladies. Oh I'm so envious. Looking forward to seeing lots of amazing cards.x

I went to an Am Dram. show last night. They did My Fair Lady. Really fantastic. The singing was brilliant and how they remember so many lines amazes me.

Nothing much on today. Just pottering but it's a beautiful day so I'm just going to sit out with a coffee and my book for an hour.

    Have a lovely day ladies.
    Love Valx

    2. No, it's a different village. The show was put on by The Javea Players who are touring. I have a soft spot for them as I lived in Javea for 5 years when I first came to Spain and saw their shows a lot. However that was 15 years ago and sadly I didn't know any of the new cast.
      Hope you enjoyed Oscar staying.
      Enjoy your Sunday.x

  4. Morning everyone.
So many happy cards on show this Sunday. Love the bright colours used.
Lovely to see you joined in Lilian, hope you alright.
    Lynda, the rose is stunning.
Brenda, fantastic colours together and so are yours Karen.
Val, Lynne will loved her card. I'm waiting for some larger letters to come so I will have a go at this technique.
    Wonderful cards all of them.
I pinched the paper doilies under the tea cups from a castle in Germany hihi they came to good use in the end.
Don't think she been awake long enough to see the card yet tho, she is on real strong antibiotics for an infection so is really out of it.
Lovely morning so limped around the lake earlier and now going for a shower. Taking OH out for lunch at a Chinese buffet later.
Have a lovely day everyone. Many hugs to all, Maria xx

  6. Hi Sandra and all in the Cafe today.
Wonderful challenge cards today, I think most techniques have been covered between them all haven’t they. I must admit that Janet’s poppy, Lynda’s rose and Lilian’s Anemone cards just have the edge for me, I love the depth of colour you have all given the flowers, all stunning.lilian it is so good to see you felt into crafting this week. I do hope you continue to feel better x
I have three cards to make in the next couple of days so hopefully at least two of them will be challenge cards.
I am off to start one now. I have lots of jobs to do and it’s a case of which to do first? Not too hard to decide crafting first though 😉
I hope you all have s good day. Sending love and hugs to you all with extras for all in need. Take care xx

  7. Good morning all from a very happy but shattered Karen
OH has taken Oscar to the park whilst I have a wash and clear away a bit of the chaos / it’s been brilliant fun
The cards on display are amazing and all so very different You are a very talented lot and you all inspire me to have a go - I now have a go at stamping and creating inky backgrounds
I have found that surgical spirit works just as well and I think the better colours to use are yellows oranges and pinks together
I have had very mixed/muddy results with blues
The Colour Families paper by Hunky Dory were on JDD Crafts I paid a similar price by buying two packs as on HD’s web site They have a nice silky sheen to them - bought HD card before
Oscar has just gone home So I’m having a rest now and probably a snooze
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday xx
