Happy 'Hump' day! Here we are at the middle of the week, this one is going quite quickly, maybe because we are all enjoying the lovely 🌞 Sunshine.
The thing that I am enjoying most is getting the washing out on the line and dry, so it is put away the same day rather than having it on the clothes airer for a couple of days. Now, do you ladies call it a 'Clothes Airer' or a 'Clothes Horse', we have always called it a clothes horse, I have no idea why, that is what my Mum always called it, she had a wooden one that lasted for years, the same as her ironing board, that lasted their whole marriage.
This is like the airer Mum had, I couldn't find a photo of the ironing board, hers lasted 50 years + I have already had atleast 4 ironing boards in 30 years! They certainly don't make things like they used to! Do you have your original Ironing boards??
Today's card is one that Maria has made for her friend, I believe it's made using the magazine stamps from a few weeks back. I love your design Maria, arranging everything around the Hexagon, you have added some great finishing touches too like the ink splats at the end of the ink pen and those little squiggles that look like stitches holding your topper on. Such a fantastic design I am sure your friend will absolutely love it. Thank you so much for allowing me to share your card XXX
I hope that you all have an enjoyable day my lovelies,
Love and hugs to all of you,
Sandra xxxxxx
Morning Ladies
ReplyDeleteMaria-what an absolutely lovely card, it’s brilliant. I’m sure the recipient will love it.
Sandra-I have 4 clothes airers-my Mum always called them clothes horses. I’m using the same ironing board we bought when we got our first house 30 years ago although it’s looking at bit rough now!
Michele
I love your card MARIA It is so clever
ReplyDeleteWe call ours an airer My mum, it was always a clothes horse It wasn’t as posh as the photograph It was a 3 panelled thing and I suppose it did look like a horse with a blanket over it I dunno...
I am on my second ironing board in 45 years
We are having Tea on the Lawn this afternoon The first one in about 6 months So hopefully the sun will shine
Take care all x
Morning Everyone
ReplyDeleteMARIA-love your card. It's just the right theme for crafty ladies.
It's always been a 'clothes horse' when I was at home and all the following years. As KAREN says it wasn't'posh' like the picture but it has 3 'arms' (zig zag) with three bars to each arm. I got Jim to make me one like it when we bought Marigny too.
The CAFE is OPEN for anyone to visit.HUGS are ontheir way to you all.TAKE CARE AND STAY SAFE.xxxx
Hi Sandra & ladies
ReplyDeleteA brilliant card Naria. The recipient will love it.
My Mum had a clothes horse Sandra just like the photograph. I think I had one the same years ago. I no longer have one.
A bit chilly here today. It was dull first thing but seems to be getting brighter. I’m meeting a friend later at Yarnton for a cup of coffee.
Take care & stay safe.
Hello, sunny but cold again, it looks so lovely but when you get outside it’s very chilly.
ReplyDeleteMaria love your card, would have the sort of thing R would have loved (civil servant for 42 years).
We never had either of horse or airier as my mother would against drying clothes indoors. I have a metal one like the picture,it’s plastic covered and fairly new. Bought new ironing board when I bought steam generated iron.
Just finished clearing my desk it’s taken two days. Have some trousers to shorten this afternoon, use twin needle so easy to get good look.
Hope you all are enjoying the sunshine, hugs Lilian
Hi everyone.
ReplyDeleteThank you for liking my card ladies. Yes this set from the Stamping Magazine have loads of little bits for making crafting card for someone into crafting. Only a bit fiddly cutting out the small bits ,I did cut off the paint brushes on one ,oops :)
Had to put the fleecy on for our walk this morning, the wind is a bit chilly today but it was nice to go out. Hoping to make the cc this afternoon/evening,OH has football to watch.
Have a nice day everyone, hugs Maria xx
Hi everyone
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Maria, your friend will love it.
We call it a clothes airer, which has been used a lot more recently since our tumble dryer broke, have also been making the most of the nice weather and using the washing line too. I still have the same iron and ironing board we received for our engagement! But I have to admit, I’m not one for ironing, I hate doing it. Been very careful over the years to buy non iron items of clothing and always hang things straight after washing. My iron and board has probably been out once in the last year 😉😂
A bit cooler today with a slight breeze, but been out for a nice walk with Barney this afternoon.
Enjoy the rest of the day. Sending hugs to you all xxx
Hello Sandra and ladies,
ReplyDeleteMaria I love your card and I’m sure your friend will feel very special when she receives it. Absolutely spot on for a crater.
My mother used to have a cloths horse, it opened out and had three rails on each side. Never understood why it was called a cloths horse when we got one it was called an airier. Like the collapsing one in your sketch. Now on to ironing boards- ours was a wedding present from John’s Aunt and Uncle and it’s still going strong today, a little on the heavy side but it still has a lot of life in it. I also use it as a table for the sewing machine. Oh yes .... We will have been married 60 years in June . So like us it has stood the test of time !!!
Had a lovely potter in the garden this afternoon, I needed a fleece on , even in the sun it was a bit chilly. But lovely to be outside.
Have a good evening everyone, love Brenda xxx
