New Things Challenge card

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that you all had a lovely weekend,  it was nice weather here, lovely and warm when the sun showed it's face. We were out in the front garden, tidying up the borders, getting rid of these awful lily type plants that really don't seem to have any flowers as such, the ends of their leaves turn black over winter, they just look scruffy, so I got Paul to dig them all out, it looks much tidier without them, one thing we did notice was that there were loads of Ladybirds,  I must have seen at least 30, a year ir two back they were hard to spot. We went out at around noon and I was shocked that it was almost five when we stopped.  So I think today will be a relaxing day for me, Paul has to go into work today so I will just potter in my craft room.

Today's card is Paul's Mum's Birthday card,  I made it over the weekend using things from my 'New /Unused' Basket.  I decided to create a z Fold card using a Dreamees Gatefold Die, not a company I have used before but I couldn't resist this lacy oval die set.

Just look at that gorgeous lace detail! They are lovely quality dies, I did use a shim but my Gemini is a few years old now so that could be why.
The paper pad I used was Dreamees too, it is lovely soft peaches and browns, it's called Vintage.
So I layered up the papers from the Vintage collection and the die cut the beautiful Oval, using one of the Vintage papers layered onto a piece of 300gsm card for stability, I then cut a soft peach glitter card to layer underneath the lace oval to give a touch of luxury. I layered the matching plain ovals to put the sentiment on and what I did to make sure the two ovals lined up was to hold the oval for the sentiment exactly matched up to the back of the oval on the front, i added a little glue to the back and the closed the card so that the oval was placed exactly behind the oval on the card front.
To embellish the card, I used some of the papers from the collection and stamped flowers on and die cut them,  I shaped them in my Heartfelt flower mold and layered them up and arranged them on the card front. I stamped the 'Happy Birthday Mum' and used a flag die to cut it out, I glued in place lifting it slightly in the centre for dimension. I also stamped a verse on the oval inside the card.
I hope Paul's Mum likes it, I really enjoyed making it.

I hope you all have an enjoyable day,

Love and hugs to all of you

  2. Morning ladies,

A look back in reminisce of those you used to make for your MIL's card, Sandra so pretty and soft coloured. She is sure to love it.

Jamie is home today til Friday to finalise all his reports to send. He had picked up a couple of extra shifts due to workmates having to isolate from a positive test.

The final embellishments of my train will be finished today. It's been a long process with other crafting in between to keep up with birthdays and special days. I think I'll leave starting Milly-May's for a while.

    Love 7 hugs

The ottomans are finished Yay! They look OK it aren’t brilliant I am so disappointed with the chalk paint After waxing them, the paint looks very patchy The fabric OH chose is fine but with the patchy grey looks wrong They need to be painted dark red or something to match a stripe in the fabric Ho hum!
I am off today and tomorrow I have 2nd jab later and needed to use up last of annual leave Hopefully I’ll be crafting at some point
    Take care xx

  4. Hi everyone
A beautiful card for your Mother in Law, she will love it. The Dreamees die is very pretty and I love the gorgeous papers. I’ve never heard of that company before, so may just have to take a look 😉
Hoping to do some crafting today, making a start on this weeks challenge card and get back to doing some more of my small canvas - I haven’t got very far with it at all!
I hope you all have a lovely day. Sending hugs to you all xxx

  5. Hi Sandra and all in the Cafe today. Paul’s mum is going to love your card. It is beautiful. Both the die set and the papers are gorgeous and I always love your flowers and how you arrange them so beautifully. I hope you aren’t suffering too much after your gardening session with Paul yesterday. The pain is worth it though after having a lovely time together. And you get to see the result of all of your hard work every time you go out or look out of the window 😄
Karen, sorry you aren’t happy with the end paint result on the ottomans. If they continue to bug you you can always repaint them again can’t you. Please can you share a photo with us?
Isn’t the sunny weather lovely. It brightens everyone up doesn’t it. Sending love and hugs to you all with extras for Lynda, Mum and all in need. Take care xx

  6. Hi Sandra and all in the cafe' today.
Paul's mum will love this card Sandra because it is gorgeous. Love the flowers and the soft peach colour.
I got some things through the post this morning and also got some magazines that are not even opened yet so will have a look later today what I got.
Sorry Karen you not happy with all that work on the ottoman but like Sue saying you can maybe repaint it or you get used to it, who knows.
Had my x-rays done this morning and it was ok but now so sore after they did some prodding and that bed was not the softest. A bit annoyed tho after phoning the clinic to get the phone appointment first on the 26 of April. Never understand why they couldn't do the knees and hips on the same day.
I hope you all have a nice day and many hugs are sent for you and some extras for our Margaret and Lynda, missing you x
    Take care xx

  7. Hello Sandra and ladies,

Paul’s mum is going to love this beautiful card, the colours you have used are perfect. I’ve never had any dies or papers from Dreamees, might just have to take a look.
Sandra hope you have taken things easy after your secession in the garden yesterday. I know exactly what you mean about the time flying by, we get totally engrossed with the job in hand and just notice the time flying by.

Karen if OH is happy with the ottomans, why worry. I’m sure you will have the opportunity to change them at some point.

Take care everyone and stay safe, Love Brenda xxx
