A Rainbow Thank you

Good Morning Ladies,

I think it's Monday, so welcome to the start of another week here on the blog.
Yesterday turned out to be a glorious day, Paul and I sat out in the afternoon, absorbing some much needed Vitamin D, Paul spent most of the day pottering in the garden, it's like he has his allotment with the added benefit of no travel and tea & coffee on hand! I do love to see him relaxed though.
We had a fun family quiz last night, we all used an app called Zoom to join together online and Becca organised the quiz questions, it was great fun, Paul and I were the winners, which was mainly due to Paul's knowledge in the General Knowledge round. It was a lovely way to see all my family together, Sophie & Lucy are hosting the next quiz.

Today's card is a quick and simple 'Thank you' card, I stamped 'Thank you ' all over the background of my card and then added white embossing powder and heat set to create a resist, I used Distress Oxides to create a rainbow of colours across the card, I spritzed the card with water to Oxidize the ink, lastly I laid the 'Wavy Lines' mask over my piece and spritzed again laying kitchen roll over the mask to soak up the excess water. This left a subtle hint of the pattern, after drying the background I wiped over with a piece kitchen roll to remove the ink from the stamped 'Thank you's'
To finish my card I used the my SU 'Thank you ' die to cut 1 black and 1 white pieces,  I laid the white one over the black, slightly offsetting to give a shadow. Then added the 'From All of Us'.
This would be a great card for our Bin Men that are due round this week.

Lilian,  I emailed you yesterday about joining us on messenger, Janet it would be great to have you in the group too.

I hope that you all have a lovely day,

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra

  1. Morning Ladies

Sandra-great Card. Nice bright, cheerful colours.

We did some gardening yesterday then we sat outside late afternoon. It s was nice and sunny but the breeze was cool.

Just found out its hubby friends funeral tomorrow so I’m going to ask for the day off as it’s easier than trying to co-ordinate us being in the same place to watch the funeral if they’re using a screen to show it outside.

He’s definitely getting his vitamin D
    Take care all xx

  3. Morning ladies,

A lovely sunshine day here in my little corner of Somerset to brighten my spirits.
Mum had finally received Dad's certificate, all that is needed now is to organize the funeral. I'm hoping with the restrictions eased for immediate family members to attend that I will be able to go. I'm checking with our Sedgemoor Council as I still have self-isolation for another 8 weeks. I cannot see the problem as I will travel solo in my car and still be 6ft apart from my siblings and Mother at the Crematory. We have all agreed that we will have a church memorial service for our very large family on Dad's 90th birthday next year.

Almost finished my son's Christmas wreath only to realise I cannot remember where is the 3inch wide gold ribbon I had bought last year, duh! Been on the hunt since Friday. Still, I've got 8 months to find it hahaha.
My scrap box is also having a good sort out too, I am feeling quite productive although I would love to be able to do a spot of gardening. With the tree branches still on the grass I cannot get around it for safety reasons,

However you spend your day I hope it is kind to you.
    Love 7 hugs
    Cheryl xxx

    1. I hope everything works out for you Cheryl. I hadn’t realised restrictions had been eased with regards to funerals. I know they haven’t her from what my friend Marion was saying this morning.
      Take dare.

    1. Luckily we have quite a few nice walks around us as Karen & Co won’t drive anywhere to walk. Mind you I can’t walk as far as them. So I just walk around the block and up the road.

  5. Hi Sandra & ladies
Lovely card today Sandra. I finish my first project from Maria Moorhouse yesterday.
Will miss to 2nd one for a bit as it’s the same design but with some picot cutting. Have been sat all morning replying to emails I had from Gill and some friends. Plus answered 2 phone calls. That’s most of the morning taken up.
Sounds like you all had a lovely time doing your quiz. Isn’t technology wonderful. That’s if you know what your doing. It’s nice out but still very windy.
Apparently My friend Marion’s daughter said they have 2 extra wards ready for Covid 19 that aren’t being used yet at the JR. Fingers crossed they won’t be needed. She’s admin for the ICU ward, they also have plenty off PPE’s as well.
Need to decide what I’m going to do next. Don’t really need to do housework though.
Take care everyone and stay safe.

  6. Hi Sandra and all in the Cafe today. Karen and Janet are both so clever to crochet the great dolls in scrubs. And thank you for the review Michele. I actually have this magazine as I signed up for it when there was an offer of three issues for either £5 or £6 in total. Now I must actually make something with the great freebies!
You all made lovely challenge cards for yesterday ladies. After probably the worst week for making cards where I ended up throwing away several cards I made my challenge one at the last minute. On the hunt for something I could use for the recycled part of the challenge I turned my craft area upside down so am now in the middle of a BIG sort out.
Sandra, well done on winning your family quiz. It’s lovely to hear of the different ways we are all coming up with to keep in contact with family, friends and work mates.
I hope you all have a good day. Sending love and hugs to you all with extras for Lynda, Mum and all in need. Take care xx

  7. Hi Sandra and everyone.
Love your card today with its bright colours.
Glad you had a good evening on zoom and well done on winning the quiz. Am hearing a lot of people using zoom to connect with family. Was wondering if it’s better than Skype and must try and get around to looking into it.
Lovely sunny day here today, but quite breezy. Hope you’re all having a good day. Hugs to all xxx

  8. Hello Sandra and ladies,

Great card Sandra this will certainly brighten up the recipients day, it has such a lovely bright and happy glow. Your family quiz sounds fun, what a great way to have family time. Bet Sophie and Lucy will enjoy planning your next secession 🤫

We have had a lovely bright day here, two machine loads of washing have been gently blowing on the washing line, it’s now all back indoors and sorted out, it’s such a lovely feeling when you can peg the washing outside, I’m easily pleased!!!

Hope the weather has been good where you are.
Take care and stay safe, love Brenda xxx
