Mixed Up Saturday

My New Year's Resolution!!!!! 🤣😂

Good Saturday Morning My Lovelies,

I have a fun filled post today, a lovely Diecutting Essentials Magazine Review,  some shopping and some craft pics too!!

So let's get going.......

Diecutting Essentials Issue 98
Magazine Review

This first issue of 2023 is a fantastic one, I absolutely love the free gift, the Apple Blossom dies are great quality and the stamps are too, I really like the font and that 'Happy Birthday to You' is a good size too.  I will also say that the downloadable papers are really lovely and I think I will be downloading them for sure!!

Nicky Gilbert kicks us off with some lovely All Occasion cards that showcase the free dies and stamps perfectly.  There isn't a card that I don't like,  I really like the Dream Big card (left bottom on first photo), it reminds me of an old Sampler.

Another Technique I will be definitely be having a go at !! Every one of these cards looks amazing,  now Inlaying all the tiny bits into intricate die cuts can be tiresome and that itself is enough to put us off creating 'Inlay cards'
There are a few different ways of creating the 'faux Inlay ' over these pages, the results are incredible. Definitely worth an experiment!  I have added the 'How To' for one of the cards above.

Some stunning 'Continuous'  Easel cards, they look so intricate!  The pretty die starts at the front edge of the card and continues up and off the top of the easel.  I am sure you could improvise with a die you already have.
Sonia,  these cards are made using Spellbinders Glimmer system, any ladies that don't have a hot foil can use gold embossing or gilding flakes or wax!  Definitely worth a go I think.

I think that these cards are a little bright for me, they would make perfect cards for children,  a great way to get more use out of your Circle die stash!

Now the projects here are all Wedding Stationery but you could use the projects with different sentiments they woud make beautiful Birthday/ Get Well/ congratulations cards.

Absolutely brilliant technique and brilliant way to get more from your stash!

Using your Nesting dies to create your own stencils and masks, absolutely brilliant idea, I have done similar myself in the past, these cards look great though and made using stuff we already have !!!

Another way to use your Embossing Folders......
Lisa has shared a new use for Embossing folders, use them to create fun, textured toppers for cards, I absolutely love that super textured Butterfly card !!

How gorgeous are these cards?  All made using the 'Faux Tie Die' technique!
It looks relatively simple to so, the basics are.....
1 add a colour of drops or bits of colour onto card
2 Spritz with a good amount of water
3. Leave to dry, you could add salt crystals for texture and interest.
What do you all think?? You could use Brusho,  re-inkers, acrylic paint too.

I love the effect and I'm definitely going to give it a go! I think,.

All of these cards are gorgeous,  I just love the rich opulence of the gold!  It works so perfectly with the different shades of green.!!

I really love the free gifts, there are some great techniques to try too.  I think this issue is well worth the money.

Gina's Lanterns

Our Lovely friend Gina was asked to make all of these Lanterns, 40 in  total for a local church, a true labout of love!   Gina used a Honkeydory Moonstone die to create the lantern.  I really like all the added detail. I bet they loved the Lanterns Gina thanks for sharing them with us .

So Our Sonia recently bought the Spellbinders Glimmer Foil Machine and got sone of the foils too.  I am really looking forward to having a play with it

Thanks for sharing your shopping with us  XXX

That's all for this week, I hope you all have a lovely weekend

Sending love and hugs,

Sandra

  1. Morning from an extremely wet Sheffield, It's absolutely pouring down and so it's a stay at home day for us today.

Those lanterns are lovely and I'm sure were really appreciated.

Jim had a telephone appointment with the Doctor yesterday afternoon and as a result is going for a chest Xray first thing Monday morning.

The CAFE is of course OPEN to all who wish to pop in for a look at 'all things craft'.
HUGS are on their way to you all. Please take care and stay safe.xxxx

  3. Hi everyone
I love the quote - definitely applies to us just recently 😉😂🤭
Great magazine review, thank you for sharing. The dies and stamps looks lovely.
Gina, I love your lanterns 😍
I can’t wait to start playing with my crafty buys - and I’m still waiting for a couple of other purchases 😌 Unfortunately won’t have much time over the next few days as busy at work and having my hair done on Monday.
Wet and windy here today too, so hope you don’t have to venture out too far. Take care if you do
    Have a good day everyone
Sending hugs to you all xxx

  4. Hello Everyone, wet and cold today, between the showers we have been clearing all of our pots from the back patio. We are having a new patio laid, so have to clear everything off, including all the clematis growing on the French. While they are here they are going to lay the base for our new summer house, should be lovely if we have a lovely summer. Costing a terrible amount of money, but we are too old to do it ourselves.

Sandra great quote, so very true. Magazine looks interesting also, lots of fresh ideas.

Sonia looking forward to seeing what you think of you new foiling machine.

Sending hugs to you all Lilian
