Our Bright & Cheerful cards

Good Sunday Morning Ladies,

Oh it's good to have our traditional Sundays back, opening the blog and seeing your amazing cards gives me so much joy 😍, it's like a warm hug!

We made the mistake of going food shopping on a Saturday!! Never again,  we knew it was going to be busy as there were no Car Parking spaces, Aldi wasn't too bad, Asda was insanely busy, much worse than before Christmas, M & S was really busy too.  I think we will go back to going when Paul finishes work on a Friday,  it's much quieter. We always end up with 1 item that causes problems,  this week it was Black Bean Sauce, you think Asda would have it, especially as ours is a huge one,  but no, every other kind of Chinese sauce but not Black Bean,  luckily M & S saved the day!!  I think the last time is was Harissa Paste !!  Sophie and Lucy were making themselves a Beef & Blackbean Stir Fry for tea last night.  I have been craving M&S Prawn Bhuna with Pilau rice and Naan, it tastes very authentic and their Naan bread are really good too.

Anyway enough waffling, let's look at your cards.....

Karen

Karen's Description:

Charlotte bought me these pens for Christmas - never heard of brand I like the fact that they have a very fine nib and work well on acetate - they don’t “puddle” and are opaque

I had a go doing splatters on black card and made this card for this week’s challenge
Mounted on yellow card from Lidl and a SW sentiment.

Karen the pens sound great, the colours are lovely and vibrant, the fine nib will be perfect for colouring flowers and fine detail too, I guess you could use a Stazon and stamp and colour on fabric, which gives more use for your stamps too.  I look forward to seeing what you create with them.  Your card is fantastic,  perfect for a Man, or any celebration with a change of sentiment.
Thank you so much for taking part. XXX

Lilian

Lilian's Description:

I was trying out some alcohol markers that my son gave me for Christmas. I find the colours look so dead, I used my Copics as well, still not sure I like them. Hope you are having a pleasant weekend and taking it easy. Lilian

Lovely to see that you got markers for Christmas too!  Lilian's are from a company called Artful that do subscription boxes.  I didn't realise that there were so many different companies out there.
Your Kingfisher is stunning,  I love how you built the scene around him too.  They are stunning birds,  I hadn't realised how vibrant their colour was until we saw one while on a boat trip on the river Dart.
Thank you so much for taking part XXX

Janet

Janet's Description:

My Challenge card for this week was made using one of my newer purchases of last year. It is of course a TONIC set of dies.
The backing card is also TONIC GLITTER CARD AND THE ACTUAL DIE CUTS ARE MADE USING TONIC MIRROR CARD. I used gold and silver for colouring.
The flowers are from my flower stash box.

Such a beautifully intricate die Janet,  it's like a pretty lace doily.  Diecutting them in metallic card shows them at their very best I think, the background is twinkling beautifully too, those lovely little flowers are all the embellishment required as the main focus should be that beautiful die cut.
Thank you my lovely for a gorgeous Challenge Card XXX

Maria

Maria's Description:

You wanted lighter colours for our CC so I went for Pink, Yellow
and Green. The die's I used are all by Christina Griffiths.

Absolutely love the colours you have picked for your card Maria,  it reminds me of the really soft brushed cotton sheets we had as children,  my mum referred to them as 'Candy Stripe'.
Your pretty flower works perfectly alongside your lace trim.  Such a pretty card, Thank you so much my lovely.

By the way I agree with you on the frustration of Card and Envelope pack sizes,  I have 6 x 6 cards that are actually just over 5 3/4 X 5 3/4 inch,  the same goes for 8 x 8 and 5 x 7inch.  I make my card fronts first and then adhere them to my card base, so many times I have had to cut down the next size up because the actual card size is generally 1/4 smaller than they state!!!

Sonia

Sonia's Description:

I used the Gina K snowflake Mandela stencil. I inked it with distress spun sugar and tumbled glass inks. A little punched flower on the Tim Holtz butterfly and sentiment from The Stamp Market.

Such a beautiful card Sonia,  Spun Sugar & Tumbled Glass are such a perfect duo, that little punched flower looks so pretty on your Butterfly, making such beautiful embellishment.  Thank you so much for taking part XXX

  4. Hello All, it’s bitterly cold here today with huge hail showers.

What a lovely display of cards today, great to be back to our usual Sundays.

Not moved from the sofa today, doing a bit more of my embroidery on card, also looking at Pinterest to get some ideas for this weeks challenge. It will be good to get back to normal.
    Sending hugs to all, Lilian

Fun to have the challenges back.
I have started a new CA and OH sitting and watching his team getting trashed. Can't speak so taking the opportunity to say Hi and hoping your day has been alright. Was meant to gone out this morning but didn't feel to getting dressed. Going out tomorrow, the 🌞 might come out for a bit if we are lucky.

  6. Hi Sandra and all looking in today. What a wonderful, bright and cheerful bunch of cards to greet me on what has been a very dull day. Everyone of you of all have made fabulous cards.
Sandra, sorry that you shopped yesterday. I wonder how people manage to shop as if there isn’t a massive increase to our utility bills! We will have to try the M&S Indian. Haven’t had their Kievs for a long time either. Hope you had a nice day today relaxing with Paul xx
It’s good to see how you got on with new coloured pens Karen and Lilian. Paige got some that seem to be the same as yours Karen. I haven’t tried them yet but Paige says they are lovely.
Karen, your card is a great one for the men and boys in particular. It is great xx
Lilian, your Kingfisher is beautiful. Did you freehand all of the trees etc or were they stamps? Another perfect man card xx
I hope you all had a nice day and sleep well tonight. Sending hugs. Take care xx
