Mixed Up Saturday featuring Michele's Magazine Review

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

Great news this week as we have Michele's first magazine review of 2021 !!

The first photo today is of a 'Nappy Cake ' that I made last Friday evening/Saturday Morning, Becca had asked me if I could do one, I said I wasn't sure, but I would have a go, so her reply was "okay I will send you the Nappies I will pick it up tomorrow " !! 😯, no pressure then!!  I did say to Paul that it was a good job that I had such a large Craft Stash.

Basically I made three bands, baby pink card with fine gold glitter card and then pink polka dots to finish,  I put one around each tier and stapled into place.  I used my Scan & Cut to cut letters out of same glitter card as in the bands and placed them on a die cut label. I then die cut some rolled flowers and arranged those around the layers,  I die cut a Sue Wilson Bow out of glitter card for top tier and tied a pink satin bow for bottom tier and topped with a flower.  A few pink and white silk flowers were placed between layers to fill some gaps and I placed some doilies around the base to finish the 'cake' look.  I was really nervous about how it would then out but the Mum to Be was delighted,  so to me that makes it worth every minute.

Finally got my hospital appointment through the Post for my steroid injections into my left hand- hopefully to help the carpal tunnel problems.

  2. Your nappy cake is amazing These cost a fortune to buy - I know because a few years ago with an office collection I bought one for a team member and I’m pretty sure I paid £40+ for it OK It might have had a couple of bibs:socks etc and a cuddly toy but yours is just as good if not better

  3. Hi Sandra and ladies
Today’s saying is so true isn’t it ladies.
Your nappy card is lovely. It was good of you to do it at such short notice. I wonder if Becca realises how much time and thought goes into your cards, to not give you hardly any notice.
Great magazine reviews as usual Michele.
I hope you have a lovely time Sonia plying with your goodies.
It was very very frosty here last night. I’d forgotten I’d put some washing on the line until about 7.00pm, so I had to prise it off the line. This morning it’s dull and raining.
Take dare everyone and stay safe.

  4. Hi everyone
I absolutely love your nappy cake, it’s gorgeous and I’m sure Becca and the recipient were over the moon with it 😊
Great magazine review Michele, thanks for sharing. Some great articles and inspiration in there.
Thank you for showing my craft goodies. Am enjoying creating with them, and if time allows today, I shall use the Merry Christmas circle die to make a start on this years cards! Can never start too early, eh?! 😂
Well, I was hoping to wake upto snow this morning (as was forecast) but by time I got up it had turned to rain 🙄 So instead of Barney enjoying his first experience of snow, he decided to play in the mud pools in the garden which have been forming over the last few weeks due to all the rain! Took ages to clean him up - and the kitchen afterwards!
Hope you all have a good day. Sending hugs to you all xxx

  5. Morning ladies from a very wet and cold Mk so staying indoors snuggled up and having a morning cuppa and watching JBO, think the kids are amazing at baking from an early age.

A great nappy cake Sandra, fun thing to make for the expecting mamma.
Thank you Michele for the first magazine review for 2021, some nice crafting to be made with the free items.
I like your new crafting 'stuff' Sonia, looking forward to see what you make with it all.
Son had to take taxi to work last night because he's bicycle got a flat and dad couldn't help with a lift for the car battery was dead so AA had to be called out Lol OH had to take a drive for an hour to recharge the battery so dinner got delayed, some evening Lol
Wishing you all a nice day and hope pains and troubles are staying away.keep safe if going out. Many hugs xxx

  6. Evening ladies,

Gorgeous nappy cake Sandra, love all the colours, they work so perfectly with each other.

Bit of a queer week for me, time has just gone so quickly it was yesterday I realized it was Friday! Yesterday was not a good day, I had been feeling a bit 'off' the day before and was not surprised I felt really rotten just after waking up with the most horrendous bilious attack of all time. Urgh! not a pleasant experience and it lasted well into the afternoon. Not even a cup of water stayed down.
Today I'm a lot better and feel back to normal so thoroughly enjoyed my pork loin steak, veggies and gravy for dinner. Yum yum.

Another good magazine review Michele, thank you very much I do enjoy them even if I don't buy the magazines.

The Sizzix die looks very interesting Sonia, I would love to see some of your projects using them. I've already started my C6 size Christmas cards, if all goes well this year and we can have our Village Fetes back to normal, I shall have quite a few packets of them on my stalls.

I've had another letter from the NHS and I am back to shielding until the 21st Feb. Hopefully I can visit Mum for her Birthday on the 28th, we are now both in tier 4 so should not be a problem to get to her as she was in my bubble last year.

    Love 7 hugs
    Cheryl xxx
