My Watercolour Challenge Card

Good Morning Ladies,

I actually felt excited to get into my craft room for the first time in over a week yesterday, I sat for a good 45 minutes not knowing what I was going to do, tidying things, generally procrastinating.  I then looked online at a few different ideas and found a video showing a technique I hadnt seen before.
It was a lady called Sandi Maciver who shared her version of a Technique she called 'Sepia Watercolour' technique, she used 'Sepia' tones (browns) but I thought I would have a go using purple.
I took a 4 1/4 × 5 1/2 piece of watercolour card, used a waterbrush to coat the piece of card in water, I then added a little water to some Elegant Eggplant (purple) ink and 'washed' it across the paper, having the water on the card helped the colour disperse easier.
You can dry the card and add another layer if you like   i then stamped the flowers in Versafine Clair ink and dried it,  I went back to the Purple ink to colour in the flowers, adding colour to the centre and washing it out up the petals, adding more ink if necessary. After I was pleased with the colour I dried the whole piece. The next step was to get some bleach and a fine paintbrush and painted around the very tips of the petals,  this bleaches the colour out and adds almost a highlight to the edges, lifting them from the background.
I then used Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to add some texture to the background, stamping in the purple ink and versamark ink and white embossing powder.  I even used some sentiment/word stamps to add interest too.
To finish the card I inked around the card and lastly added some little white dots with a Posca pen.
I was quite pleased with my card, it uses Categories: Flowers/Watercolour/shades of Purple

I hope that you all have a lovely day,

Love and hugs,

Sandra

  1. Morning Ladies

Sandra-your Card is stunning, it’s so lovely. Glad you felt like crafting.

I just wish I could find my crafting mojo as it’s deserted me! Yesterday was a long day & only got up to the greenhouse about 9pm. I’ll try to head into my craft room tonight. I’m being allowed to work from home on Wednesday and the following Wednesday-not sure my boss is too thrilled but my line manager approved my request. I’m hoping I can get lots of paperwork & emails sorted. As it’s meant to rain all day on Wednesday I won’t mind not leaving the house!

    2. There’s a very limited amount of work I can complete at home so I don’t think it’ll be a permanent thing for me but who knows!

  5. Hi Sanda & ladies
Lovely card Sandra. I haven’t heard of the lady whose technique was on Pinterest. Mind you I very rarely look on there anyway.
A nice ish day today. But the sun keeps popping in and out.
It’s very noisy here at the moment. The people in No 8 are having some work done out the front. They had it slabbed ages ago but seem to be having something done to the part that meets the pavement. They had a long drain inserted at the time and the seem to be grinding that out. So much dust flying about but the workmen aren’t wearing masks at all.
I’m over Craig’s again this afternoon for dinner again. Fingers crossed it stays nice.
Take care & stay safe everyone.

Need to go to Tesco, so that will take up most of the afternoon 🙄 Got two days off now though, so that’ll give me time for crafting.

  8. Hi ladies.
Love the card Sandra, never seen this technique before but look nice.
Had zoom with ww this morning. It was good to see the others but will be some time before we can go to group again.
OH and I did a 3 mile walk this morning, it got hot in the sunshine. Still got a blue-ish sky but it look like we have rain tonight. Feet up with a coffee in my hand and watching a film now before dinner needs cooking.
Have a nice day everyone and hopefully the crafting Mojo who is gone for many, including me, will turn up pronto.
Hugs for you all , Maria xx

  10. Hello Sandra and ladies,
Love this card Sandra and bleach does create a lovely effect. Many years ago at Ally Pally I bought a stamp of an old fashioned pocket watch. The display card looked fantastic it was stamped onto black card and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. When that was set you lightly brushed from the centre with bleach, not going quite to the edge of the clock face. I have to say I was also impressed with my own effort.
This morning was busy but I made time to watch Wendy from Card-io on Hochanda. She is such an inspiration. My sister was ringing me - while I’m watching and telling me what Wendy was doing!! I suggested she looked at all the stamps and tell me what she would like. She rang again during the 1pm show and said “they are selling out fast“ tell me what you would like? I asked - she replied All of it! Anyway I managed to get her on back order. That’s her birthday sorted out.
That was enough excitement for one day.
Take care stay safe love Brenda XXX
