Myra's 'Rhapsody in blue' !

Good Thursday Morning Ladies,
Myra sent me this stunningly beautiful card on Tuesday I think and I just couldn't wait to share it with all of you, it is just so pretty.
The base & layers of the card look so clean and simple, the card is made to look so special purely through her amazingly inspirational creative genius! I can see that Myra has used Creative
Expressions 'Happy Birthday', 'Maidenhair Fern and Flower die all designed by Sue Wilson, the addition of a few pearls, a pretty pearl swirl and some pretty blue ribbon, the flowers look as though they have been cut from White felt, the look so delicate and pretty!
Myra your card is just so beautiful and would bring a smile to anybody's face!
Thank you so much for allowing me to share your amazing 'Rhapsody in Blue' card, (those are the words that came to my mind when I uploaded your card.
Thank you to all of you that came up with those words of wisdom yesterday, I have to admit I lost a good hour or two looking at Hints, Tips and ideas yesterday afternoon, there are some fabulous ideas on pinterest.
Well I had a better day pain wise yesterday, thankfully, I guess its a case of take each day as it comes!
Have a lovely day everyone,
love and hugs

  2. Morning Ladies

Myra-what a stunning card, love everything about it especially the colours.

Sandra-hope you have a pain free day & are able to do a little crafting.

I'm dashing straight from work to a craft club st the garden centre where I saw Julia Watts do her demo. It's 5.30-6.30 so it'll be fairly quick, if I make it on time as its in the opposite direction to work and I don't finish til 5pm. I'll pop back later & let you know how I got on.

Sandra hope your days get better bit by bit you have been through so much pain lately.
Well I did most of the garden yesterday and I'm stiff today but a day at my craft club today will help we always have a good giggle as well as crafting so I always look forward to it.
I have left some hugs in the basket to top it up and will be back later to see what's been happening,

Morning everyone and all who pop in today
    First stop coffee as usual
Sandra pleased to see you had a better day yesterday so fingers crossed that today will be a little better too. Please remember to pace yourself for the week-end.
Myra your card is just beautiful - you have used my favourite colour palette and everything looks so clean and gentle. I love your flowers and I just wish I could turn out some looking so good.
Well craft box all sorted; ferry and hotel booked last night so today is packing some extra clothing which needs to go to replace the ones we gave to the Red Cross shop in Corbigny last time we were there. After that I shall be sitting down this afternoon with my cross stitch for a little while.

I have to say the cafe and patio is looking just beautiful today and so inviting so much so that I just might be sitting out there this afternoon as long as I don't put anyone off who may want to pop in for the first time.
We have had some blue skies and sun for the last few days but it's still be cold. I am just so impatient for some warm weather on my bones.
I've put my hugs in their usual place and told them to behave - Ha that's like telling Norah's hugs to stay put lol.

Sandra I'm pleased to hear the pain was more manageable for you yesterday, I hope you had a good rest too to recharge your batteries for the weekend, after all a 21st has to be celebrated in style! Xxx
Myra your card is gorgeous, love the clean layers and the pretty flowers. It's good to see how the sentiment cuts too, it's not too overpowering, just right. Xxx
Well the sun is out again today so more washing to get on. It's a revision day today so hopefully I will be able to escape a bit today as I need to do food shopping. Hubby is contemplating working from home (cricket must be on!) so one will be upstairs and one will be downstairs! I'm going to have to Hoover silently I can tell!

    1. Sam, where did you buy your GC from? Maybe they could help. I am really surprised Spellbinders haven't been back in touch with you, I have always had a good response from them, they sent me a new handle free of charge and once when I complained about a die not cutting correctly they sent me a replacement. The lady I dealt with was called Karen but I can't remember her surname. I do believe there is a spellbinders service engineer somewhere, maybe creative expressions could tell you about him. Hope you get it sorted.
By the way, create and craft are launching a new machine called Todo today. It looks good, I had a look on their web site but it is expensive.

    3. Hi Sam,
I emailed Creative Expressions when my handle broke. I just asked them for advice but I got an email the same day saying they would put a new handle in the post. It was dealt with really efficiently. My friend Shirley hah exactly the same problem as you are describing and found it so frustrating. She ended up buying the teal GC. I'm not sure which machine you have. I love the junior plates and they speed up cutting quite considerably. Hope you get this sorted out. Saw the machine Saba was talking about and it's apparently capable of foiling as well but I think you need an additional part for foiling. Xxx

    5. Hi Sam,
I've been having this problem for quite a while. I've already had a replacement handle, but now it puts spots of an oily carbon deposit on my plates. I have to use Cif to remove them as nothing else will shift them - hmm could try shaving foam, never thought of that. I may e-mail Sue and ask her advice, and if I do, I'll let you know.

I bought it in a small gift shop many years ago and it usually has a small painting or a special card sitting on it. I have another one slightly larger which was Mum's and she had a large plate on hers. Mum bought hers in House of Fraser but that again was many years ago! I have seen them in antique centres for next to nothing so it may be worth having a look there. If I see any before October I will buy them and bring them to the Retreat! Sandra, glad your pain is easing but don't go doing too much as you have a busy weekend ahead of you.
Myra, your card is simply lovely. It has such a clean and fresh look to it. Love your design and your felt flowers look stunning. The only thing that puts me off buying this die is the postage problem because the flowers really appeal to me. How do you solve it? Glad you enjoyed your trip out. Can't believe someone was so silly as to try to ride on a swan.
Michele, I am so sorry, I never said thank you for your tips yesterday, really good ideas especially using the cd case, might try that.
I am starting to get things ready for our holiday. Still got another week to go but getting all the things together which we need for the boat takes time.

    3. Hi Margaret, I sprayed along the bottom of the kitchen door (or anywhere else you are doing), got a dry piece of kitchen towel and spread it over where there were marked or George had put a jam spot etc!. If it was going on very thinly, I added a bit more. Left it for about 20 minutes and then used a micro fibre cloth and washed it off. Had to keep rinsing the cloth but the doors, microwave and oven door came up fantastic. The stainless steel splashback should have been left for about an hour, as George NEVER puts a lid on the frying pan when he's doing an egg or something - it drives me mad! Good luck - let me know how you get on.

  15. Hi Sandra,
Really good to know that you are feeling a bit better today. Long may it continue!
Please don't overdo things at the weekend.
I got such a surprise when I checked the blog this morning!
The card was made for a friend's birthday yesterday. She went on our day to The Lakes so I just handed it to her. She loves blue as do I but I need to change a bit I think!
I used Coconut white and Periwinkle blue card from creative expressions and also white felt and ribbon from CE. The little blue flower shaped resin toppers came from my stash. I cut the Happy Birthday die from Sue's words collection twice and shadowed it. The card is very simple really and was done pretty quickly. You can use this flower die cut and laid flat with some fine ribbon threaded through it . It makes a lovely border to match the flowers! Not my idea I saw it on a card earlier this week I think it was. Looks good in felt too.
Thank you for your lovely comments , lovely comments from crafters like you mean such a lot.
    Will go and read now!

    3. Ladies,
I can't believe you are not all rushing to get this new machine. It's fantastic and will only cost an arm and a leg every time you want to hot foil emboss and then cut out. The thing that I have to laugh at - apart from Mel thinking it's so wonderful - is that if you hot foil, you have to wait for about 20 minutes for it to cool down before you can emboss or cut. She has two on the go, so that she doesn't have to wait and goes from one to the other. So ladies, I am ordering two immediately because I have more money than sense lol.
If I had a penny for every machine that Mel couldn't live without I'd be very rich.

    7. Well spotted Maureen, I wasn't paying that much attention, I just hear Mel's voice and thing 'oh right' 'what can't I live without now', she lost credibility for me months ago, I understand that they have to sell different things but she just goes too over the top, telling you to get rid of all your dies if it's a punch she I selling or punches if she selling a die cutter!
I guess I feel like I do because I was stupid enough to fall for her bullshit back in the day when she was selling 'Cricut' , I like my machine but it doesn't cook the dinner, wash up or service the needs of my husband and children! So it didn't match up to her description!
Soon after I bought it she was onto Martha Stewart punches, better than having a cutting machine, this thing today looks like a huge white elephant in my opinion, it needs a huge space to put it on, she looked like my nana mangling her knickers when she was using it!

I was reminded that I needed all the GIFTS that came with the machine and therefore would save over £100 - and so all I need is the £200+ but of course it will only cost £75 or thereabouts today as they offer installments ah but I didn't renew my membership this year so I cannot do that. I'm sure that if I talk nicely to J he will buy it for me within a blink of an eye.

Oh I've just discovered I've been in a soap opera for a wee while on another plane of existence.

Don't worry I'm back in the gorgeous place with all of you now.
      Hugs xxxx

    13. She is back on again. You can only use their foil too isn't that a good thing. Had to buy one right away, you get so many items with it, a real bargain! It's horrid, big and not cheep, Next.......xxx

    14. Oh Wow! I watched a repeat show at 10pm!
Alastair was having a cup of tea. He usually ignores craft programmes . He was reading and suddenly he said Who is that woman - Mel that was - she is most irritating! Well that's another thing we're agreed on! What a huge machine! Her examples and demonstrations would actively discourage me from buying! Black shiny card with red foiling! Ugh! Soapbox back in corner! Xxx

  24. Sandra, haven't looked at this new machine, my excuse is I havent the space for another machine, £299 they make them for this country as I tell this, I never saw one die cutting machine while I was away, Walmart had better craft stuff than Michaels and cheaper but not a machine or die to be had, a few punches and I mean a few not many. Lots of ribbon but oh boy it's expensive!
Just had a great catch up chat with Patricia. Planing to meet up next week.
Must see about making a card before next week, so here's hoping my mojo didn't stay on holiday?
Maureen I am going to give the foam a go on the kitchen cupboards. Thank you for the instructions. Is it tomorrow that Eleanor returns?? I bet there will big hugs from her. Hazel x

  25. Good evening ladies
I am one very very happy and relieved bunny. I haven't mentioned on here that for the last couple of weeks I have been having some tests done and was diagnosed with something called acute Hashimoto's thyroiditis. It all sounds very posh but it is basically a throid condition with a few added complications. Anyway, it turned out I had an extreme case of it (never do anything by halves is my motto) and needed further tests to see if there was a tumour involved, so, today was the day I had various test done and there is no tumour. I have to take various tablets, some for a few months until they can stabilise the problem and another one forever to keep the thyroid level normal. But I can't tell you how relieved I am. So I think tonight it might be a glass of the bubbly stuff (cheap imitation not the real stuff) and some serious thanks to Him upstairs.
    Lots of love
    Saba xxx

Over the past six months I have to tell you I feel I have been introduced to new family members, you ladies are so sincere in your caring and kindness, I think (well I know in my case) that we speak more often than family and feel we can be free'er to speak about anything! You are all such an important part of my everyday life and I can't wait for our family gathering in October !
Saba I'll join you in your celebration, hugs winging their way to you !

Back from my craft class -there was only me there! Had fun using a small stamp I'd bought at the demo day. Its a do crafts one if a crossword & I thought it would be good for mens cards. If I re-make the card i'll send Sandra a photo if it.

Saba-so glad to hear your tests were ok.

Best stop writing & tackle the dishes I guess!

  33. Well it has been a lovely day today. Can't really make the most of the sun as after having chemo am supposed to keep out of the sun and also having cancer removed from my face should wear a hat in the sun. Went for lunch with a friend to a garden centre. Was so hot inside but all the outside seats were taken but when we had finished lunch there were some spares seats so went outside and sat in the shade. Sat outside for quite a long time chatting. Just went out to water some plants and it is still warm out there. We can expect thunderstorms tomorrow they say. Lovely. Have been replying to comments as I have been reading them. Have been feeling very tired today and had a job keeping awake earlier. Must try and get an early night tonight but I don't expect I will. Be back later to chat to the night owls.

  34. Hello again ladies,
Firstly thank you so very much for your comments. I was in two minds as to whether to say anything or not, but was just so happy I wanted to share it. It's like Sandra said, we have become very close and made some lovely friends here and I am truly grateful for the friendship we all share. I remember well when Cheryl was waiting for the all clear and although at that time we didn't really know each other, I was so happy for her and so relieved.
Sandra, you asked about symptoms, well love there are so many and if you want I will e mail you because I am sure it would bore everyone to death if I listed them here! Briefly, when the thyroid doesn't work properly you feel tired, cold and sluggish. When it develops into Hashimotos then the immune system start to attack and more serious things start to happen, but again the symptoms are many and quite vague and in my case it was joint and muscular pain which made me go to the GP. She then did routine blood tests and I got a phone call which basically said, go to jail, go directly to jail, do not pass go!!!
Now, enough of that, onwards and upwards and let's forget all about it!!
I have ordered several of the Todo machines, I thought they would make nice Christmas presents for you all, they were so cheap and of course with Multi buy the postage was a bargain!!! And of course When Mel says we have to have one well, we must!!
Intravenous bubbly is going down a treat, thank goodness the doc. said the tablets were ok with alcohol otherwise I'd have been buggered! So to speak!!
Love and .....Oh, no hugs today I am afraid, I am as we speak radioactive, how clever is that, wonder if I will glow in the night, grandchildren would be super impressed if I did.

  36. HI everyone,
Sorry I have been missing, I have managed a quick peek at these wonderful creations you have all been making, but I haven't managed to read all the comments, but tonight I see that Saba has been keeping her innermost thoughts and worries to herself, I am so happy, Saba, that everything is well with you, it must have been a worrying time, when you don't know.
Sandra, I hope everything works out well for you too. You are having a hard time. Sending you a load of hugs,
I will manage to join you more often, but we have been soooo busy. I am amazed at just where our visitors come from, so many places throughout the world. And of course it's nice to be able to chat to some, suggest somewhere to visit, best places to eat, etc. Most want to know about Ben Nevis, going to Skye, the Jacobite Steam train and the "Harry Potter" bridge. Just as well i like to talk. It does not leave much crafting time though...unless i forget about laundry, cooking etc. Hm.., do I really need to eat...answer, Yes.

Oh, I think I am waffling now. I'm too tired and too hot. Time for a shower and bed. I just wanted you to know I hadn't fallen off the planet.
    Hugs for all
