House Mouse Sunday

Good Sunday Morning Ladies,
I have been looking forward to showing you this card of Sam's, I thought it was so cute that it deserved a post of its own, so here it is!
Sam has stamped and coloured the cute House Mouse Stamp perfectly, I suspect she has used her Copic pens, the blend so well and Sam has managed to get some good shade into this image.
Sam has used the Austrian Collection Innsbruck Die, from Creative Expressions, designed by Sue Wilson, it is the outer decorative die and the cutting edge that has been used to make the frame for
this cute little image.
I love the Sentiment that Sam has used, the font is nice, pretty, but not too girly! It looks like the
Creative Expressions Pierced Flag Die has been used to frame the sentiment, designed once again by Sue Wilson.
The soft green background works really well with the colours in the stamped image.
The cutest embellishment on this card is the Cocktail Sticks that Sam has used to make 'Mouse'
sized Knitting Needles, with tiny pearl beads on the ends to make then look authentic!
Sam this has to be one of your best cards, thank you so much for sending it for me to share with all
of our friends here in the Café xxx
We are hoping to have a quiet day today, the girls are busy revising, we are hoping to pop to the allotment for a couple of hours, weather permitting of course!
Its nice to get out of the house and away from all the terrible news, my Son went to Tunisia recently so the recent troubles really hit home, it was Armed Forces Day yesterday too, but you feel reluctant to go to any of the Celebrations for fear of any 'problems'!
Well are hope you all have your fans out of the cupboard and dusted off as we are supposed to have a
heat wave this week, temperatures in the 30's so they say.........we will see!
The girls were hoping to watch the Quarter Final Women's football match last night England v Canada, but it was on at midnight, so we have recorded it to watch today, I do wish the Womens football was given the same coverage as the mens( I don't mean the time that's because its live),
if you didn't look for it you wouldn't know it was on, if it was the 'Male' England team playing the country would be awash with England flags and there would be a tacky song in the charts!
That's all from me today, apart from sending
love and hugs to you all,
Sandra

Sandra I hope the weather stays dry so you can get to the allotment, we are having family over hopefully for a barbecue but just the mention of the word and the clouds thicken, so fingers crossed.
I hope Patricia and Hazel had a good night - we will find out later, have left everywhere tidy
,have a lovely day everyone, may not be back today, but have left the basket topped up,

    2. Hi Jean,
Hope it stays dry for your barbecue. Especially for the sake of the chef!! I have photos of my husband cooking - it doesn't happen often and never indoors - with son standing alongside him holding a brolly! The great British Summer !! Xxx

  2. Good morning Sandra and the Coffe Shop Gang. Congratulations to the Ladies of the Enland Football team, well done them.
Well it's pouring rain here today, we had beautiful weather in Edinburgh yesterday.
SAM:- your card is fantastic. I love that image and use it lots for New Baby Cards. I knit Baby Booties for embellishments.
Well ladies Hazel and I had a great time yesterday. Shopping first then we went along to the Restaurant where we were having our meal. Table in the corner, out of the way and we had great time. Lots of fun and laughter, laughing so much the tears were running down our faces. Gillian's friends are such a lovely bunch. They have known each other for so long and have such good fun together. The meal was good served by lovely Spanish Waiter who was brilliant. NO phones during the meal which was great. I think it is such bad manners to be on the phone when people are eating. Some of the young ones get terrible "withdrawals" and of course made the excuse to get to the Loo ...... just to look at their blooming phones!!.....why??? Oh! I must be getting old!! I really do hate bad manners and feel they are being pushed aside.
Cafe looking good, flowers on the table. Made my tea & toast, I have some of the Strawberry Jam on it. Don't know who made it but it's brilliant? Over at the table in the corner to "people watch" ((((((Hugs))))) in the basket, will be back later to see what doing on. xxx

  3. Good morning Sandra,

    Well done England ladies!!!!

House Mouse card is superb Sam. The soft green for the background is the ideal choice for the colours used for the stamp. Your colouring in puts mine to shame, try as I might I still cannot get my shading as good as yours.

Still raining here and I have two cards to do for tomorrow birthdays. Forgot all about them yesterday, the guest room is more important at the moment.

Sam-your card is gorgeous. The colouring/shading is perfect.

Breezy day here & a bit cooler-not been out yet but hubby just left to play a golf match do he gave me a weather update. I'm off out to the craft shop in the garden centre I went to for the classes as I promised to drop something off. I'm taking a colleague with me as she's a bit down at the minute. Apart from her University friends in Manchester, she only knows the staff in Pharmacy and her family all live in Greece. I've said we'll stay for a coffee then I'll drop her off in Southport as I need to buy a couple of things-sugars and some sandals! Odd combination I know..!!!!

Best get dressed & head up to the greenhouse to talk to my tomatoes .

    2. Michele you are such a thoughtful, kind friend, not many people would think like you do, don't go crazy spending at the craft shop, mind you if it's like the Carole's craft shop at our garden centre half the stock is just rubbish really, it has closed down now though, we made the most out of it though as all the ribbon went half price, we are talking 10p and 20p for the thicker ribbon! I now have so much I have no where to keep it all! I may need to use Patricia's loo roll trick!

  6. To Sandra and my dear Friends
Thank You So Very Much For The Huge Support And Kind Words About My Card, I'm Going To Have To Try And Get Better Close Ups, Photographs As I'm Aware My Image Doesn't Always Show Up That Well.
Sandra You Are Correct I Used Creative Expression Foundation Card Which I Purchase From Joanna Sheen As I Always Make Sure I Don't Pay The Postage And Packaging, So I Chose The Colour Card I Wished To Use Mat/Layered With White, Then I Start On My Image Which Yes I Use My Copics I Return To My Image Over Days, I'll Do One Part Then Return To Go Further, The Die I Used To Cut Out The Image Is The Innsbruck From Sue Wilson Austrian Collection, And The Sentiment Is Also Cut Out Using Sue's Pierced Flag Dies I Love Those Dies. I Found The Small Charms Which Are Hard To See One Is A Tape Measure The Other Is A Bundle Of Yarn, I Wished To Make Some Very Small Knitting Needles I Was Racking My Brain (Not A Lot In There Lol!) And All Of A Sudden Came The Great Idea Of The Tooth Picks I Placed A 3m Pearl On The End Of Each Needle To Try To Make Them Look Authentic Added A Small Piece Of Twine For The Knitting Wool.
I Hope You All Have A Great Day It's Raining Here Today! Yesterday It Was Beautiful, Last Year We Purchased These Fabulous New Sun Loungers From QVC But Hadn't Used Them As Yet So Lyndon Put One Up For Me So I Could Sit In Garden With The Boys, It Was Too Hot For Them Though, And If Archie Sees Wasp Or Bumblebees He's On The Hunt So I Have To Make Sure He's Not Silly Enough To Get One, I Read/Listen Too Audiobooks And Have A Great Set Of WiFi Earphones Which I Take On Holiday So I Was Listening To My Book Rather Than Turning Pages Etc (Lazy Really Lol!) Well Once Again Have A Terrific Day.

Well I hope Lyndon took your sun lounger in today as it's pouring with rain here, so I think the allotment might be a no go, but I have a craft room in dire need of a tidy up, I can't actually see my desk!
Becca's dog Diego decided to catch a wasp last summer, he got the stinger part stuck in his lip, they rushed him to the Vet who managed to pull it out, he said he had never seen one so big, so he kept it, Diego meanwhile had to have a week on antihistamine tablets and painkillers, the cost was huge but worth it to see him pain free! He hasn't learned his lesson though!

I'm with you on the ladies football, not that I watch football much, but if it were the Men's Team, we would be inundated with advertisements about it. And they've done nothing since 1966!!
I hope you manage to get to the allotment.
Now Sam, this card is so sweet and the colours are perfect. The additional use of charms just finishes it off.
My first pouring of candles went well, and the smell - oh the smell when I opened the kitchen door this morning was divine. I'll not do the second pour until tonight because "you know who" will be tempted to shake, poke or do something worse to the cups!!!
We are going out today with David and Robert (George's brothers) and their wives, first we are meeting up for lunch which is booked at a very nice Hall not too far away (Can't remember the name of the Hall, there are quite a few in Durham and Northumberland) and then we'll see what we are doing next. I wonder if I can go in my slippers ha ha. (Actually, I don't wear slippers, I've slipped or fallen too many times in them - and that's not the drink!!)
We all get on well so it will be a lovely day, lots of laughs and remembering.

I'm glad that Hazel and Patricia had a good time yesterday. I agree that good manners, which cost nothing, are getting more and more ignored. I am known for my expectations of a please or thank you from all of my Beaver Scouts, they soon learn that I will totally ignore or take away what I have just given them unless they say it. And don't get me started on how some parents let their children talk to them. I have put the soap box away as I can feel my BP starting to rise just thinking about it!
Michele, have a good day with your friend, and good luck with the sugar and sandal shopping. Oh I love the smell of a green house full of tomato plants, (sadly can't eat them as much as I would like as they DON'T like me!) just the thought takes me straight back to Toots (my Grandad) green house and helping him to water the tomatoes : )
Thank you ladies for the kind words about the BBQ. It was quite busy most of the time and it all went very well, we had a lovely sunny day, a bit windy at times which meant we had to keep a close eye on the gas burners which we use for the onions though!
It is raining hard here too at the moment, but we are in for some hot weather in the next few days, if the forecast is to be believed. A steady 20-22 degrees every day with a good rain fall during each night would be perfect weather for me. Yes, I know, I live in the wrong country for that, but I can dream : ).
I hope you have a nice quite day my lovely, not sure you are going to get to the allotment though! I hope the art work is going well and not causing too much stress!

Love the card Sam, the house mouse designs are so cute, and I have said before, colouring is not my thing so I am in awe of people like you who make such a beautiful job of it. The embellishments really finish this though.
You will be glad when the exams are all finished Sandra, such a strain on a whole household when they are on. Relief after.
You're right about ladies football. I don't watch sport, but remember my father in law watching a ladies game and commenting about the skill of the players, and only realising later that it was a ladies team. I knew 2 girls here who were excellent players, both were asked to train with the ladies Scotland squad, but training was in Inverness, so a 3 hour round trip by car, then when training moved to Aberdeen it became impossible for them to go.
Well, better finish this coffee, there's a pile of pillowcases needing ironing now.

  13. Good morning Sandra and all who pop in
I have commented on the way down so just remains to say to you Sandra, hope you have a lovely Sunday. What a world when you can't go and celebrate with fellow servicemen and women for fear of terrorist attacks. Our Armed forces deserve their celebrations for the wonderful work they do. In Germany women's football, although not as popular as men's, is given quite a bit of TV coverage and is always on the news when the national team is playing.
Lazy day for us. We have nearly got Gas. Peter rowed ashore this am to a campsite and they have gas, however, it's just for people who have a pitch so the manager will have to get permission from his boss as to whether they will fill our bottles for us. We will find out tomorrow morning! I have suggested we pay for a pitch for one night, but won't be using it, bit difficult to get our boat on land!!
By the way, our boat is called Livslang. It's a Swedish name ( our boat was built in Sweden) and the name should have a little o over the a but I don't have a Swedish keyboard. Maria can translate it for you if she pops back in.
    Off for a swim now,
    Love to you all

My cousin's son was in the Blues and Royals when there was all the trouble with the horses in London when they were bombed, he should have been on parade but as he was in the band he was on a music course and missed it. I will never forget the worry we all had until we new he was safe. Afterwards the horses that survived were in a terrible state the soldiers had to wear plimsolls when attending to them in the stables they were so jumpy, all the soldiers suffered with bruising from kicks for months afterwards.

  14. Good morning Sandra and all the coffee shop crew
Brilliant news Sandra so very pleased the ladies are showing the men just how it is done and with style! Yipee
Well Sam thank you for a wonderful surprise this morning I simply adore the House mouse gang they are a firm favourite with all the family especially with my grandson, I even have a coffee mug and a tote bag that is much admired when I go shopping. Your card is simply wonderful and I love your added charms. I often use the tooth picks with a few lines of knitting on (but I use some very old knitting needles that my grandmother used for knitting socks to do the few lines of knitting then slip it onto the tooth picks) this acts as a good embellishment as Patricia says for baby cards too.
Patricia and Hazel delighted to know you had a great night and there were no mobile phones during the meal, that really sends my BP up too.
Pleased to report all my patients are improving except SIL who is struggling so he is still being quarantined!
At last it looks as though it is stopping raining well at least the cloud is lifting so I live in hope!
Sandra please give Lucy and Sophie my good luck wishes for the coming week bless them when will they be finished, this week or next?
Michele I hope you have some marigolds in the greenhouse with your tomatoes to keep the green and white fly out when we had a greenhouse we always planted some near the door.
Maureen I can smell your candles the perfume has blown over here on the wind really lovely, have a lovely meal out and please no throwing the gravy about!
Sheila so pleased you had a lovely day yesterday with Nikki, I am sure she would have enjoyed the trip out too.
Saba hope the repairs to the engine are going well.
Janet please take care next week on the BBC weather they are forecasting 40 degrees for France. How was your Friday cakes?
Well I had better start on my patients light lunches, will try and pop in later until then my hugs and cuddles are over in the corner, but talking of corners where is Norah?

  15. Oh I am late today? It's nearly lunch time, nothing to do with being out late. No was awake at 5.30 with cramp in my leg, I don't often suffer, but I find it's after I have eaten out, I think it's the salt contain? We don't use it at home. Anyway I got back to sleep and that was me until 9, just up when Andrew Gillian's partner came to help Charlie with replacing fence panels. Then my friend phone as she does every Sunday morning, so I am still in my pjs. I did leave a message last night saying we had been good and had a lovely evening. The girls seem to have gone on and enjoyed themselves, they are staying in Edinburgh until after lunch, they all took the train in, so I think the girls from the borders train was later so they decided to wait till their train goes. Plus the girl from aberdeen will have company to as far as Dundee, all thought out.
Sue, I could easily join you on that soap box ref, how parents let their children talk to them. Also manners???
Sam, your card is so cute! I love House Mouse they are like LOTV images and cover so many occasions? Your colouring as always is brilliant.
Sandra, I hope you get to the allotment, you wouldn't be going if up here, the fence panels will wait now till tomorrow, at least Sophie and Lucy can have a day off.
Maureen, we won't walk you for miles next week? Those feet will still be sore! Then again even a couple of podiatrists will be suffering with sore feet today? They should know better!
Oh must move, that's the problem with getting up late I just now can't be bothered.
I wonder if Saba and Peter have got enough power to be able to move on??? I think they will have to have a check list for the next time they go. GAS being on the top of it. The electrics is something's that just happens, but maybe a little course on how to sort these little problems is needed???
Diane are you ok??? Right I better make a move. Hazel x

When George saw me after the transformation from scruff to fairly presentable he said "Oh those shoes are nice, are they new" to which I replied "No, I've had them about 15 years" and he said "well when did you last wear them" and I said "8 or 9 years ago!!!!" At which point we both fell about. It's true and could only happen in the Killen household. They have an abstract sort of Picasso design on them, and went rather well with the dress which I managed to keep out of my knickers!!!! lol xx

Bet their strawberry jam isn't a patch on ours, bet they haven't got a cat either! Talking of which where is the little devil nowadays.
Had a lovely swim followed by a light lunch and a glass of beer so I expect it will be sleeping time soon. We have decided to just ignore everything today and have a look at the electrics tomorrow. The motor is not a problem, we know how to do most of the repairs ourselves, but the electrics is so complicated, think colour coded spaghetti junction with no colour coding and you get an idea. We need to identify the correct wire and see if there is a problem with it, such as corrosion or bad connection. So long as the motor starts its not a huge worry so tomorrow we will head for an island called Pag. There is another marina and they are bound to have an electician who should be able to get everything going again.
Bye for now, love Saba xxx

Goodness-what a busy day. Alex seemed to enjoy the trip to the garden centre-we both had coffee & a cake then I dropped her off in Southport. Got the sugar but thought better of looking for sandals as thd town centre was heaving with trippers!

Had a trying conversation with my Dad before I went out-he seems to think i'd be calling round toake sure the dog took his tablets so I pointed out that I had a lot to do. Not sure he was listening but why do I ferl guilty now?!

Hubby is a very happy man as he won his golf competition. Unfortunately he won't be able to go to the presentation as he'll be away (work) so we've had a bottle of fizz to celebrate!

The tomatoes & cucumbers seem happy enough. Peppers are slowly appearing-lets hope everything is all done before we go away as we're away earlier this year.

A colleague sent me a text earlier to say her Dad passed away earlier this morning from a massive heart attack. He'd been poorly but think this was a shock. She's on a temporary contract & won't get paid when she's off so she has said she'll be on work on Tuesday. Very sad.

Right-I'm off to finish the bottle of fizz! Don't panic-theres not much left!!!!

  35. Goodnight friends,
The second pouring has been done, and looking spectacular, if I say so. And no one else will, so I'll have to!!!
Maaaria, in the North East of England, a lot of pit villages would say livs lang for lives long. Of course there's a lot of the Norse language in Scotland and Northumberland, especially in our villages. Even we cannot understand the real pit yackers.
Right, himself is calling down, so I'd better go up, and you know what, when I go upstairs he usually gets up for his first nocturnal walk about. Contrary, that's what he is!.
Have a good night's sleep everyone, Sabaaaaaaa, I hope you have a fair wind, gas and a capable electrician tomorrow.
    Sweet dreams all.
Fickle Muriel xxxx (hmm I quite like that)
