Mied Craft Saturday

Rolled Rose Tutorial

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that you are all well and enjoying your weekend. We are going to have a relaxed weekend, all being well, after what has been an eventful couple of weeks.

I was a little disappointed when Stampin'Up! Retired their Pansy Punch in May, it was so easy to pick up and punch out flowers for embellishing cards and projects.
I was sat at my desk trying to think of an alternative that would replace the punch.  It then came to me!....Rolled roses/ flowers, going right back to basics.  You can make them to match any project as they can be made with literally anything.
The video is just a quick reminder of a quick and simple technique.
I hope you enjoy the video my lovelies xxx

Margaret has shared a photo of the cross Stitch that she did for Maria, I was lucky enough to see it before it was framed and I have to say it looks absolutely amazing properly framed, you can see so much detail.
You are so clever Margaret, this is a truly stunning piece of work and I will never forget Maria's face when she opened it!
Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

  1. Morning Everyone
to all who pop in for a sit and a chat.

MICHELE- congratulations on your Mag page and thank you for your monthly report. Here in France I haven't seen any crafting mags at all. Do you get any in the shops in Spain VAL?

MARGARET - I adore your cross stitch. As always it is immaculate and will look fantastic gracing MARIE's walls.

We had a lovely walk through the market yesterday morning but it was already so hot that I only managed to walk through and then Jim went and fetched the car.
It was lovely to see all the regulars sat both inside and out as all is now set up for the summer season. Thankfully very few holiday makers were to be seen.

I promised a 'cake report' and so here goes:-

JIM had a small gateaux made up as follows:
    it was rectangle in shape.
The bottom layer was a piece of thin sponge and sat on top of that was
the most delicious Raspberry Mousse which had Raspberries cut into piece and mixed in.
On top of that it had another thin slice of sponge
covered with soft meringue which had dark choc trailed through. The finishing touch were 3 small Raspberries and a small piece of dark choc.

    I had a
small gateaux in the shape of a canoe made of sweet pastry.
This was filled with patisserie cream.
On top of this were small Raspberries each topped with thick cream and a small piece of dark choc.

I have to say that both were extremely delicious but we will be cake free now until next Friday.

Saturday morning here is that 'swear' word here but it will be a quick dust round/sweep up/de cobweb (I really don't know where they come from as we never see spiders) with more attention made to the bathroom. Oh there is a line of washing waiting to be hung out after breakfast.

Have a good day everyone and take care in the sun. HUGS should be arriving very shortly with you all. xxxx

    1. Hi Janet oh my goodness, my mouth is watering. Anything with raspberries I just love. Good job its only once a week that you visit the cake stall.

I actually have a subscription for Making Cards Mag but the paper man occasionally delivers Papercraft Inspirations and Papercraft Essentials to Lynn's shop and she keeps them for me. If its a free gift I don't want I take it into Craft Club and one of the ladies usually buys it.
Have a lovely day after the swear word of course.x

    2. Wow Janet
Your cake report had my mouth watering. As Val said it’s a good job you only go to market once a week. The blogger is still playing up so I hope this one publishes.

  2. Morning Ladies

    Sandra-great video & lovely card.

Margaret-what an amazing piece of work, I really admire anyone who does cross stitch, so much patience.

Maria-nice yo see your name with the winners on Sues blog yesterday-we’ll done.

We’re visiting my Father in Law this afternoon but have been asked to call in to see M in L first (at home). We got an email late last night explaining that she’s reluctantly made the decision that Keith needs to go into a Nursing Home & they want Phil (plus his brother & step sister) to have Power of Attorney so I’m guessing she has the required paperwork. But upsetting being told this late last night by email but Heh Ho....!!

  3. Hi Sandra and ladies
Well I don’t know what happened yesterday. I’d updated my iPad. Not sure why I do this, but probably because I was fed up of seeing it. The iPad then let me answer a post. Then decided I needed to log onto blogger. Then it wouldn’t let me do anything. Great magazine reviews Michele. And congratulations on being designer in the magazine.
I’d seen Margaret’s cross stitch as well that she’s done for Maria. It looks lovely framed.
Great card yesterday Sandra. Fingers crossed that this posts.

Hope you have a good Saturday and hugs to you and Pete.x

  5. Hi Sandra & Ladies
I have just finished my ironing at last I started at 10 30 am. It takes me longer now as I have to sit down and do it i can't stand & do it any more.
SANDRA your video is a great blast from the past reminder I can remember doing those flowers when I first started card making but I didn't use a quilling tool I think I used the end of a small paint brush. Next Week I will go to
Hobby craft I will see if they have a quilling tool.
MICHELLE fantastic mag review thank you. Congratulations On having a write up in the magazine. Sorry about FIL having to go in a care home Shame you got told by email. Would have been better for Phil to be told with a phone call.

    1. Hi Lynda
We’ve been up to the school this afternoon. It’s there 80 th year. Pete felt well enough to walk up. That’s two days on the trot he’s felt not to bad.
The men came yesterday to clear the top of the garden. That’s was done and a fence is being erected on Monday. Then the rest will need digging out, hardcore put down then our old slabs will be laid. Pete doesn’t like it but that’s what’s happening. Craig said he’d come and help his Dad put a fence up. Pete can walk up the garden and back and he’s shattered so that wasn’t happening either.
I can just see your 8 paws sulking.
Hope it’s not to hot to walk about for you.

  10. Thank you Sandra for this blog page today, the video tutorial of yours is really useful for the paper flowers. Congratulations Michelle on your article publication and the review of this months craft magazines is really useful too, thanks. I have just opened a subscription for Papercraft Essentials as for the past few months I have loved what they have had on offer. This month also if you take out a subscription you get £35 voucher to spend at Craft Stash too - bonus! I love doing cross stitches too Margaret and I am so glad that you got it framed correctly because they look so much more professional when they are framed professionally too. I have a fair few large framed cross-stitched projects around our home and some have strayed to other people's homes such as friends and family too. :O)
