Monday Sketch Challenge

Good Morning Ladies,

I have decided to go for a good old sketch this week, they take all of the thinking out of card making which for me right now is a bonus, I'm having trouble staying focused, I've no idea why😉😉
I thought that the layout of this sketch would work well for pretty much every kind of card too, I liked how it looked too.

I decided to make a Christmas card for my challenge card this week, I have been hoarding this paper for a few weeks now waiting for the 'right' project, once I ran a few ideas through my mind I knew this was the one!
The paper is from SU 'Merry Little Christmas' designer series paper collection, the sentiment is from "Snowflake Sentiments" the border die is 'Swirly Snowflake' thinlits.
I stamped my sentiment and die cut it using the 'Lots of Labels' dies, I then cut a black label to make it stand out from the background. I die cut the border in Whisper White and added the detail layer in black, I added a piece of the Striped black and white wired ribbon, then a piece of Whisper White ribbon with Silver edge, which I topped with a bow, I trimmed the bow with a black Snowflake that I made shiny by pressing it into Versamark and adding clear Embossing Powder.
All of this I mounted onto a white base card with a mat of black and Whisper White card. I finished the card with some little black gem stones.

I can't wait to see what you all make xx

Paul is out all day again today so I will begin my craft room, trying to summon some inspiration!

What are you all up to this week?

Have a fantastic day,

Love and hugs to all,

Sandra

Lovely card & a great sketch for us all this week. This could be used for so many occasions -looking forward to seeing what everyone makes.

Had a lovely time yesterday lunch with my in laws although they didn’t stay very long. I went into my craft room after they’d left and had a play which was nice and relaxing. I too , like Sandra am finding it difficult to settle to anything at the moment.

  2. Morning Everyone
from a very wet/dark and cold morning here in Sheffield.

SANDRA- love the look of this week's Challenge.Hopefully my little grey cell will work properly this week.lol

We had a very quiet day yesterday. Jim is really suffering pain wise with ear. It looks worse each day as the bruising is coming out now and he's having trouble with the arm of his glasses pressing behind the ear. The stitches are self dissolving so they will disappear on their own. It also looks a little puffy around the area where the skin graft is and of course he's not sleeping properly either.

It's a Mr Tesco morning and then I'm not sure what's on the calendar for today. Definitely a stay indoors day as it's raining and very damp.

The CAFE is OPEN and it's already nice and cosy inside so pop in for a look and a chat. Tea and Coffee pots are always on the go.
HUGS on their way to you all. Have a good Monday.xxxx

  3. Great sketch this week I might try and use some of the backgrounds I created over the weekend
We did have a great time I was able to play with some Cardi-O and John L stuff You never know I might get into this stamping mullarky! Using a stamping press has certainly given me the confidence They enjoyed my techniques - the PP one we did a Christmas card and the using rubbing alcohol one that I’d seen in a magazine We didn’t take many photos I’m afraid
I am now full of cold - ho hum! A big apology to the ladies that emailed me with dates for a Watford meet up I just feel too tired to go to home emails after a trying day at work I might fire up laptop and get distracted I will definitely try later
Last week was a bit of a scare too My little man was in A&E twice last week with severe croup but he’s a lot better - thank goodness Brought back some awful memories of son being in ITU this time of year in 2009
Have a good day all and take care xx

  6. Hi Sandra
Great sketch and card today. Must get on and do Xanders birthday card today at sometime. ( my Grandson he's 10 ). At school this afternoon though. So might have to start it this evening.
Keith ( Karen's partner ) is 50 on the 1st Dec. Not even to sure what to get him. He's one of those that never ever uses what you by. A couple of years ago he wanted to start making beer. So we bought him the kit for Christmas, it took him 2 years to use it. We bought him a camera last year for either the truck he drives or his car, it's still in its box. So very frustrating.

    2. Not to sure why men are so difficult to buy for. Especially Keith. Petes quite difficult to buy for as well. Something for the garden or some whisky would do previously. But seeing as ge can't do much in the garden now and medication has put him off his whisky, everyone's stumped.

    3. Hi Pat, had a chuckle at your beer making present for Keith. The year after we married my Pete wanted to try to make his own. I bought him the whole caboodle too and it was still in the loft waiting to be used when he went to dance with the angels, 25 years later. I passed them onto a gentleman who sold unusual lots on Facebook in aid of the Carers Association. I never did find out whether he sold them. x

    4. Hi Cheryl
I expect Keith's is in the loft now. He's only used it once. Such a Shane Pete didn't get to use his. The shop selling beer and wine making kits has now apparently closes down. With customers like Keith it's no wonder.

  7. Thank you for the healing hugs ladies I went into work with the intention of just picking up laptop and work from home Very lucky I can do that To top today off My chair rolled back quicker than intended whilst I retrieved my bag from under my desk and I ended up flat on the floor denting my ego How embarrassing And then as I got into Taxi I banged my head on the door frame!

I hope you are all managing to keep those sore joints going in this horrid wet and grey weather. Sending love and hugs to you all with extras for all in need. Take care xx

  9. Hello Sandra and ladies,

Love your card Sandra and the colour you have used, we both seem to like the same colours. This weeks challenge looks good because it could be Christmas or birthday card, in fact this layout would suit any occasion. I must try and get a card made earlier this week, these days I never know what life is going to throw at me, It’s mostly around OH and family, but they do keep me busy and on my toes. to be truthful I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I think the weather is pretty grey everywhere today, so have been doing housework and now maybe I can spend some time in my craft room before dinner.

    Love to all, Brenda xxx

    3. Well the time in the craft room was short. Daughter had to go to Birmingham today (work trip) she started her return journey about 4ish. And rang us (hands free) soon afterwards, by the time she said bye she was in Oxfordshire. I did get to cut out a few letter dies, so tomorrow I can get on with the card...... I hope.
Just spotted my name isn’t in the Reply box. So here goes Anonymous (aka Brenda)

  10. Hi Sandra and all,
Lovely card Sandra, oh so pretty. The sketch looks good but like a few others I seem to have lost my motivation at the moment. It's hiding somewhere in the house but I can't seem to be able to find it.
My daughter in law was hoping to be allowed out at the weekend but so upset to be told they would like her to stay in until the two drains - one in her groin and the other above her knee- are taken out which will probably be 4 weeks. As well as removing all her lymph nodes they've moved the muscle at the top part of her leg over to the other side which is very painful. She's very upset about the whole situation but I know with the dire shortage of beds they're not keeping her in for no reason.
The mornings and evening have gotten really cold here now although during the day it's lovely and warm and sunny. I feel warmer out than in. The houses are built to keep the heat out and they certainly do that, I'm blinking freezing.

Hugs to Karen, Lynda and Maria and all not feeling so good.
Pat hope all goes well at the hospital this week.
    Love Valxxx

    1. Hi Val oh your poor DIL shame she has stay in hospital for 4 weeks but as you say beds are sort so they must think she is better off in hospital.
Hug's for all your family. Xxxx

    2. Hi Val
Thanks for the thoughts for tomorrow.
Such a shame that your DIL wasn't allowed hone at the weekend. But I'm sure they think that hospital is the best place for her. When Pete had his Bowel Cancer he went in for 5 days but had to stay in for 30 days, hopefully she'll be up and about before then, but under hospital supervision and in hospital.
