Mixed Up Saturday/ Michele's Magazine Review

Good Morning Ladies,

Welcome to our Mixed Up Saturday where we share just about anything with each other, well we are all very dear friends aren't we?!

Janet

Janet has made theses stunning hanging decorations, they look like something a bridesmaid could carry at a Wedding as they are so beautiful.
One looks like it's made from a stunning flower tulle, with pretty pearls adorning their centres. The other is decorated with stunning Lace Heart Appliques, Janet you are so very talented when it comes to making anything with lace, these two are exquisite.  Thank you so much for sharing XXX

Diecutting Essentials this month comes with a great freebie-the wine bottle & glass are very useful for so many occasions. Lots of articles in the magazines featuring the freebies. Christmas cards are starting to appear in the magazines now.

Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine-comes with a set of 5 border embossing folders which are lovely but I'm unlikely to use them so they'll go in my EBay sales box!

Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine comes with a great set of Dies this month which work alongside the bottle set from Diecutting Essentials. Quite a few articles showing different ways to use all the Dies. Great article on Spotlight Stamping and again, quite a few Christmas cards in this
issue.

This has just arrived (Papercraft Inspirations) and has a lovely snowflake border Die free this month. There's some lovely free papers inside the magazine-Autumn themed which should be very useful.

That's it until the next batch of magazines arrive!!

Happy Crafting
Michele

Thank you so much Michele for purchasing and reviewing the magazine's for all us, it's great to get a look at what freebies you actually get. Thanks you for your time XXX

Karen

Karen saw this "Papercuts" die and just had to buy it, I think you are like me Karen in that you don't buy too many Christmas stamped and Dies, as you only get to use them once a year, whereas with other dies you get to use to them throughout the year.
This die is so detailed and beautiful Karen, I think it will last you years!
Thank you for sharing
XXX

Brenda

Brenda has treated her to some more amazing Stampin'Up! Stamps, paper and matching ribbon, in beautiful colours.  I can't wait to see what cards you make with all of these new goodies Brenda, I bet you don't know where to start, I usually Check out Pinterest to see what everyone else has done with a stamp set, it gives you some great ideas.  I also bought a 'Cool Melt ' glue gun, but for me the 'jury is still out'!
I can't make up my mind about it, I found the glue sticks a little bit stringy and found it hard to do just a tiny drop, so I will be very interested to see how get on with it.
Thank you so much for sharing your shopping Brenda XXX

Thank you to all of you that took part in today's blog post, I really do appreciate it when you all participate. I love sharing your crafting journey too.

We should hopefully be well clear of Paris by the time this blog post goes live, we did discover that we are traveling on one of the busiest weekends in France, but fingers crossed we can get a good bit done before it gets too busy!

Have a lovely weekend ladies,

Love and hugs to all,

Sandra

  1. Morning Ladies

Janet -gorgeous decorations. The lace on them both is absolutely beautiful.

Karen -I love the Die you have bought. The outer frame could be used all year round.

Brenda -what a great stash you have bought. I'm also interested in hearing what you think of the glue gun as it's something I'm thinking of buying.

Up early as I didn't sleep much last night. Quick trip to the village then I need to collect my ring from the jewellers. It's a Russian wedding ring and I'd somehow manage to snap one of the bands. Then I'm off to met my friend for a coffee at Dobbies-it's looking very dull with dark grey clouds so I think I'll need a jacket today.

    1. Great magazine review Michele. Thank you. I'm particularly interested in the Die Cutting one as I do not have anything remotely like that in my stash BUT reality check, should I be trying to draw one for my ScanNCut...? Nah! the die looks much nicer than I could achieve!

    2. Karen-if you want any bottles cutting out then please email me. The same goes for anyone else-just let me know what colour & how many, it would save you buying the magazine.

  2. Morning Everyone
What a lovely choice of buys this week. All look very interesting and I cannot wait to see some results.

SANDRA- I hope you're on the South side of Paris and that the trip around it wasn't too bad.

MICHELE- thank you for your Magazine Survey. I'll be popping into WH Smiths this morning to have a look at them.

Had a quiet day yesterday after housework and so it's our usual Saturday morning trip to Meadowhall for some shopping and then hopefully a quiet afternoon.

The CAFE is OPEN and I'll have some cakes on the counter for this afternoon.
Have a good Saturday everyone. HUGE HUGS on their way to you all. xxxx

  4. Morning all Lovely stash of goodies BRENDA I'd be interested in your thoughts on the glue gun as I don't own one and would like to try that foamarin AND have a go at making a rope basket as seen on that Craft it Yourself programme that was on tele earlier this week....!
I think I must have confused SANDRA in my email I sent with my photo I meant to say that I don't begrudge buying Christmas stuff because that's when I make the most cards - at least 60 whereas through the year I doubt I make as many as 30
Off for an eye test later and than meeting MARIA which I'm really really looking forward to
I hope to see more of you soon and at Ally Pally which isn't that far away now

  6. Hello Sandra and ladies,

I hope your journey is progressing well, hopefully the French people are staying clear of the roads and your journey is uneventful.xx

JANET, I love your beautiful hanging decorations. They really do look like something a little bridesmaid my carry. How do you work out how much lace and ribbon you need to use and did they take a long time to make?

MICHELE thank you for the magazine reviews, I've never bought a copy of the diecutting magazine. Must have a look at it next time I am shopping.

KAREN. Great die, my head is already planning cards, the outer frame I'm sure you could utilise with so many other dies and embossing folders. I hope you and MARIA have a lovely meet up today. xx

My glue gun, it was you ladies made me think about it, I had never heard of a Cool Glue gun before. I do have a hot one but always manage to burn my fingers. Last year I bought a cordless glue gun. Which was a waste of money, after a few presses the batteries run out. I did use the new one yesterday, I made some alterations to the CC card I sent to Sandra on Thursday. And where I had put a piece of ribbon down the card I decided to use a slightly wider ribbon and twist it. The glue gun really did a great job. Had I used glue or small pieces of double sided tape I don't it would have worked. So I'm very pleased with my little glue gun. If I have to find fault I wish the cable was a little bit longer. But I can live with that.

Today we thought we would picking up our daughter and family from the airport today, John had told me it was today they will be back, so yesterday I did a little shopping for them, so they would have something to eat when they get home. So first thing this morning I typed in their flight number on my iPad and guess what is it tomorrow are they coming home. That will teach me to double check and not just take OH word for it. Fortunately I did check the sell by date on everything I bought, so it will be fine in the fridge.

I hope all our poorly friends are feeling a little better and brighter today, wishing you all a speedy recovery. xx

Wishing everyone a good day, and what ever you're doing I hope it's enjoyable.
    Love and hugs, Brenda XXX
