Festive Friday !!

Good Friday Morning Ladies,
Happy Birthday Margaret !!!! Hope you have a fabulous day xxx
Today's Festive Friday Card has been designed by our Janet, I love it (oh I sound like a certain tv presenter)!!
But on a serious note it is a beautiful Christmas card Janet, you have mixed a range of Sue's dies too, using both old and new together to get a gorgeous design.
Janet has used a scalloped edge 8 x 8 card base then added a matt of a lovely deep red card, she has then added another matt, this time in white card, using the Orion 'Gemini' Die from Creative Expressions cut on the diagonal to add interest.  The main focal element of the card has been created by using the Filigree Poinsettia Dies, layered up to give two gorgeous flowers, the foliage in the background has been created using the Creative Expressions Holly Spray dies, cut in white to give both dimension and interest to the card.
Janet finished off the card by using the 'Merry Christmas' Die also from Creative Expressions, designed by Sue Wilson of course.
Janet thank you so very much for sending me your Christmas Card photos to share with our friends here on the blog. xxx
Not much planned here today, I have my appointment at the doctors at 10.15 am to discuss Paul's deployment, please cross your fingers for me my lovely friends.  I am also going to enquire about my eating issues, but I do think its stress related, Pat and Sue had more that one view of my bum on Wednesday as my trousers kept falling down, I wouldn't mind but I haven't had them that long.
Poor Paul had a bit of a rude awakening last night, I awoke amid another bad dream, having convinced myself that 'something' had just run under my pillow, I had got out of bed, stripped off all the bedclothes, and switched the light on within a couple of minutes, Poor Paul just stood at the side of the bed wondering what on earth was going on as I was screaming like a woman possessed!!
If this continues i think he may abandon me for the spare room!
I will call in later to catch up with you all,
Love and Hugs
Sandra

  1. Good morning, well I think it's good, but seeing how it's so dark out there it's hard to tell? Again a bit of a nip in the air.
Janet, I love your card, it's bright, cheerful and lovely, I like how you have cut the White layer on the diagonal.
Sandra, oh Sandra what are you like??? Poor Paul and the rest of the household getting disturb at that time? You need to mention all this to the doctor as well, will keep fingers crossed. But please let her know everything that is going on in your head and how stressed you are.
Everything set up, I am going away to just sit and have my cup of tea and see what going on. (((((( hugs)))))) in the basket help yourselves will pop back in soon to see what's going on. xxx

  2. Morning,

I am also loving your card Janet, bright and cheerful and full of festive spirit. Your mix of dies is wonderful.

Sandra, I had such a chuckle at your tale. Poor Paul, being woken up by a banshee!!! It's enough to give him nightmares too!.
Sounds like you could do with a dose of propranolol, my doctor prescribes them for my panic attacks and it's absolutely marvellous and they are non addictive unlike diazepam. Does the job marvellously. I do think you could also do with a bit of therapy, talking to someone outside of your home can be therapeutic as not knowing you, they do not have any preconceived ideas about you. You are stressing out far too much my dear.

Have to get myself organized a bit better re my banking. Since I've changed to internet banking |I don't check off my receipts like I used to with the paper trail.
So I've printed out the last 2 months to studiously check all receipts. Long winded job for this morning. Memo to self, don't leave it too long next time.

    Love 7 hugs

  3. Good morning Sandra and the Café Gang. Hope you are all wakening to the beautiful sunshine ... less the noise of the Potato Lifting Machine and Tractors outside the bedroom windows of course!!!
Well maybe that would be the better option. Poor Paul got a very different "alarm call" this morning. Sandra oh! Sandra what are you like???
Wow! Oh! Wow! what a fantastic card, love, love, love, everything that our very clever JANET:- has done on it.
Off to have a chat with Hazel. I have not seen her since we got back, seems an absolute age ago.
(((((Hugs))))) I. The basket as usual. See you all later. xxx

  4. Morning/Afternoon to all who may pop in today
Sandra - pleased to see you're visiting your GP and as Hazel says tell her ALL and I mean EVERYTHING. It doesn't matter how big or small so she can help you. Nightmares are horrible and then added on to sleeplessness for the rest of the night = daytime nightmare. I've everything crossed for you my lovely Friend and I really hope she can help in any way. Will be with you at 10.15.

You have described everything I used to create my Christmas Card Sandra. I really do not know how you manage to remember all the dies etc.
I have to admit that this card is based around one that Sue did a while ago but I have used the dies I have. It is also the card I've decided to do for my Knit and Natter next time so I'm still busy cutting out etc and hoping that it will get approval with no grumblings about it.

Housework to do today and as for the first time this week we have a clear and sunny start to the day I think I'll wizz round and get everything done at double speed so I can get some washing out on the line, dry and sorted before lunch time. (Oh I've just woken up!!!!! Where did I get that idea from? Me wizzing round and at double speed!! I cannot remember when that was possible).

I need that latte now after that idiotic thought so I'm at the nearest table to the counter as if I try for the window I might just meet the floor on my way. lol.

hugs are in the basket so please please help yourselves.

  5. Hi Sandra and all in the Cafe today.
Sandra, oh my lovely. Poor you, and Paul, I hope you managed to get back to sleep after your nightmare. I hope you get on well at the docs, make sure you tell her everything that is happening to you, the more they know must help with the report she has to do. My fingers are so firmly crossed that this report does the job.
Janet, what a beautiful card, you have used my favourite Christmas colours : )
Brenda littlelamb, glad that you had some time with Scarlett, what a shame you had to hunt for her craft bits but at least they hadn't disappeared all together!
Myra, its good to have you home safe and sound. I bet you slept well last night didn't you. You can't beat your own bed, especially your pillows if you're like me.
Saba, I hope your voyage isn't as rough as it has been at times on this holiday.
Michele, it is so good to hear that you have been able to enjoy some of your holiday at last : )
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM/MARGARET P : ) I hope you have a lovely day, you know it is going tlo be mad as it always is when Pop, Chris and RJ get together, isn't it! You will enjoy having cuddles with Christopher won't you too. See you about midday. Love you xx
Well, yesterday I did something I have never done before. I made a card in 25 mins!!! I used some of the many die cuts that I have from using Sandra and Pat's dies and managed to decide which to use really quickly. Still can't believe I did it so quickly. I know lots of you can make cards this fast but not me. I did forget to take a picture though!
Have a good day everyone. Take care xx

Sandra what a trauma, poor Paul, nightmares are not funny, please mention them to the doc, I'm hoping they can do something for you, fingers crossed.

  10. Good morning everyone,
Janet your card is so rich and warming - love it!
Sandra so hope your doctor can help you - poor Paul, he must be feeling the fear you feel as well, Employers really don't have the insight into the family life of their employees, but there again they are only carrying out orders from higher levels. You are most probably at the doctors now so thinking about you and wishing you get all the help you all so deserve.
Happy Birthday Margaret - didn't know but hope you have a lovely day and get really spoilt xxx
Off into town shortly, John will drop me off and I will get the bus back, no point driving and having to park up, don't really need much,
will be back later to see how everyone is

Another really sunny morning but it really is chilly today, although it is October!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARGARET hope you have a lovely day and enjoy every minute of it.
Janet what a truly beautiful card quite simply I love everything about it.
Hope all goes really well at the doctors for you Sandra do tell them about these dreams too. I do hope Paul's pulse rate has returned to normal, poor man. Cheryl has made a very good point Sandra, have you considered talking to someone outside the family, it just may help to reduce your stress levels and that would be a help to you. Everything is crossed for you including the corgi's paws!
Myra are you feeling ok or were you unable to sleep my goodness you really came in early this morning! Perhaps you need a little rest and sit down my dear, take it easy.
Sheila are you alright, missed you yesterday, or are you busy putting your new machine through it's paces?
Cheryl I do hope the books balance for you!
Hope everyone has a lovely day and is able to enjoy some of this lovely sunshine.

  15. Like Cheryl, today I have been doing bank things, our branch was closed months ago and you have to go a 32 mile round trip to deal with things, no one able to discuss with me changing the type of account I now need have to go back next week, and are these bank staff that thick that when they tell you to do Internet banking they are going to be doing themselves out of a job? The person that deals with accounts is over in Perth on a Friday - were is the days when every branch had some one on hand to help, no wonder folk get into debt. Did some shoping while we were out, but oh boy I just couldn't think, did have a list but wanted to see if there was something that would make a change. Was behind a family that need to watch. " Eat well for Less". Oh the rubbish they they had in that trolley was unbelievable. Every ready meal you could think of too. No fresh meat. Even the checkout guy commented saying " it was normal for them every Friday. They handed over £250 I am so glad they had that amount of money. The other thing was they bought every bag they used and it was the reusable ones, you know you have to bring your own bags or buy, surely if that's how they shop they would bring bags. You are all going to have to get use to it now that they are going to be charging now?
Myra, you are going to need a little nap getting up so early?
Diane, I hope the car passed.
Janet, was that you wishing by earlier, slow down you will be putting us in a spin?
Jean, did you get what you were looking for
Yes I think Sheila might be having fun with that new machine, either that or she is pulling her hair trying to work out how it works,

MARGARET, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Hope you have a lovely day, sounds like you will have a full house. Wish Alan all the best for Monday xxx

SANDRA, I Hope Paul has recovered after his very disturbed night. He must have been thinking he was having a nightmare! It is so distressing when you get these, I hope you have explained to the doctor, because I'm sure as you suspect, it is stress-related. Pleased the appointment went well and the doctor did listen to you. Now is there anything else worth trying? Or do you just have to hope and pray. ....... I've been doing that for you anyway!
We were up early this morning as John had his appointment for the implants. We were back home again by 1 o'clock and have had lunch. So now we have to wait until next Friday, when he will go for his planning appointment . But on the positive side - we are getting there.... Slowly !!!

JANET, What a beautiful card you have made, I love the traditional colours. Your card makes me realise just how versatile some of our dies are, great for any occasion. I haven't started my Christmas cards yet, but I'm thinking maybe I will go out of my comfort zone and use blues and whites. Just for a change.

I'm off to my craft room, but may fall asleep before I actually achieve anything. Think it all those ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's Myra left at the top of the post falling down on me.

  28. Good evening everyone
This weekend they are staging the Rugby World Cup in Newcastle which will mean that the city is full of hunky rugby men, even some from Scotland in their kilts, do you suppose that is what is causing our Maureen's absence?
Calm down Myra there is no need to fly over to Newcastle tonight they will be there tomorrow too!
Patricia please take care and an early night for you I think, don't over do things in the potato field tomorrow, but happy picking.
We have another sunny day forecast for tomorrow but I'm struggling to find anything else to wash, so will have to put my thinking cap on. Suggestions on a postcard please but not the corgis thank you. We have found a new pet grooming place for them and they came out looking so beautiful and not looking stressed at all thank goodness, especially after last time.
PLEASE NOTE I am not the only one who tells everyone about bargains Brenda LL is encouraging people to spend money too! As Maureen said to me, get thee behind me satan!
I wonder if Saba has arrived home safely or is she still out battling on the high
seas. That first shower and night's sleep at home are going to be so, so good!
Michele have a good flight home, so pleased you are feeling well on the road to recovery.
Someone is asking for a cup of tea so as he is watching the rugby I will be kind and go and make him one!
Be good and remember if you can't be good, do be careful.

  29. Well I wasn't really encouraging everyone to spend money just thought if anyone was interested it would be a shame if I didn't tell them. Well had the gas boiler serviced and everything is fine. Last year the fitter said that they were not making back boilers anymore and would have to have a new one either in the kitchen or the loft. Well my kitchen is very small and no walk space hardly at all, except by the cooker and then it would be in the way and I think it would have to be on an outside wall. There is no way I want to go up to the loft. The fitter today said they are now making back boilers again so that's good. Think the other one was just trying to get me to buy a new boiler. It's been another lovely day here today. Our surgery are going flu jabs tomorrow and on the 17th so think I will go tomorrow. Might be raining on 17th and one time I went it was pouring with rain and we were all queuing up outside. Not good. Have you gone to bed yet Patricia. You have done a lot today. Hood you enjoyed the potatoes.

    1. BRENDA:- I am still up, got a bust of energy after a nice cuppa John made for us.
Might last another hour I would think.
When the engineer comes here to service the boiler they alway UuuMmm!! & AaaWww!! however it's still working away quite happily.
Engineer comes in a few weeks, we will see what they say this time. xxx

    2. Still up? This engineer was very positive about the boiler and though it could go on for another 5 years. My friend was told the samething last year that if anything went wrong they wouldn't be able to get the spare parts etc., so they got a new boiler. Think I would have held on. Hope yours is ok. Sleep well when you do go.

  30. Brenda whenever I have a flu vac I always feel under the weather later and a friend told me her nurse advises having two paracetamol before you go.
That is really dreadful expecting people to queue outside in the pouring rain I'm surprised you didn't all catch a cold! Hope all goes well tomorrow if you go. xxx

    1. Thanks for telling me that Margaret. Will do that. The reason we were standing in the rain was because we couldn't all fit in the waiting room. They are usually very quick. We got through the waiting room and then there are about 5 people doing the injections and then out the back doir so it is very well organised just too many people turned up to fit in the waiting room. Still up Patricia.? Xx

  33. Hi Sandra
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARGARET. I hope you got throughly spoilt today.
Janet I love your Christmas card. I think red and white cards are my favourite. Mind you I'm beginning to like blue and white as well. I think I might have experiment with a few other colours this year as well.
Sandra, I'm glad your Dr seems to be on your side. What did she say about your nightmares and your eating though. I'm also glad that Paul saw the funny side of your nightmare lady pt night. As we said on Wed, we think this is all stress related. Hopefully when Paul's deployment, or non deployment would I say these will disappear.

  36. Hellooooooooooooooooooo,
Janet, What a fabulous Christmas card. I love it.
MARGARET P, I am so sorry, I didn't know it was your Birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY, it's a bit late but better late than never.
Sandra, good news that the Doctor is on your side, but bad news that the nightmares are still happening. I could understand it if you were married to George, but Paul is so sweet!!!!
No PATRICIA, I haven't been tied up by year 2, although it was a struggle to get away from them lol. After school this afternoon, Zoe's class (year 5) went to another local Church and did a concert of singing and Liturgical Dance for the old dears (you know, people like me ha ha). They were absolutely fantastic, word perfect and harmonising beautifully. Not all churchy songs as well, they did a good mix, even singing the Blaydon Races at one point, and since then it's been all go.
I'm actually having to do a spot of cooking for George as he's working so hard at the bungalow. He's been painting all the ceilings today - CEILINGS - PAINTING - if I suggested painting, his bad back would start up immediately!!!
Myra, this holiday has obviously done you the world of good. Up early and posting just after 9. I've got the oxygen handy for in the morning, I don't think I can take much more of this!!
Hazel, that's an awful distance to have to drive for your bank. Do you know only about 5 years ago we had 3 bank branches each within half an hour's walking distance at the most. Now we have to go to town. People say use internet banking, but what do you do when you have a cheque.
Michele, I'm glad you are feeling a lot better, now that it's almost time for you to come home - that's typical.
Oh I see Patricia has a bust - of energy. Lucky girl!!!!
Ooh Margaret C, Rugby in Newcastle, and I have to go to town tomorrow afternoon!!!! No really I do, but they'll be in the Stadium by then. Anyway, they run to fast, I couldn't catch one. I wonder if I could use one of those stingers that the police use to stop cars ha ha.
Saba, where are you, are you safe, are you warm, are you bathing in the altogether!!!
Norah, I hope you are well.
I'm going to ring the Butler for a hot chocolate, I'll be back shortly.
    Muriel xxxx

  37. Maureen so glad you and George are ok, I was worried George might have over done things helping Peter. I bet you had a tear in your eye when listening to Zoe and her friends. As for the bank it's getting that if they want us to Internet bank they better find a way we can send our cheques and cash by feeding it in to the computer. I am at the stage of thinking of keeping my money in a box under the bed. Goodness knows what it will be like in a year or two when we can't drive. xxx

  40. A late ps, just catching up with the rest of today's posts, PATRICIA,S mention of picking potatoes reminded me of when I was a student we went potato picking to earn some money, I can still remember the back ache now, all mechanised now, Cornwall being the home of the best new potatoes.Things we did to earn money, wonder if young ones would do it now. Never tried flower picking far too cold for me.
Excuse the ramble about my youth.
Am going to bed. Good night
