Another View of Janet's Handbag

Our Birthday girls today are Maureen & Patricia !!!

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,
First up I would like to take this opportunity to wish both Maureen and Patricia a Very Happy Birthday,
I hope that you both have an absolutely wonderful day and that the year ahead is filled with both
Good Health and Happiness xxxxxx
Now onto today's crafts, we have two very special cards to share today,
First up is Scarlett Brenda (potter)'s granddaughter's absolutely beautiful card that she made to say 'Thank you' to her teacher and what
a very special way to say it with a wonderful handmade card, Scarlett you are a very clever girl and the cards that you make are very special, I look forward to seeing more of you amazing designs xxxx

Next up we have Phoebe (Mrs B's) Granddaughter and Margaret P's Great-granddaughter's Beautiful Thank You card, that she made for Great Grandma Margaret to say thank you for her birthday gift,
Phoebe I love your Butterfly design, I love how you have used the glitter to make the butterfly sparkle,
you are a very clever girl and I look forward to seeing lots more of your cards, you will soon be crafting with Grandma, Pat and I, thank you for sharing your pretty card with us today xxxx

Now we all love a Handbag, don't we.......? well how gorgeous is this one that Janet treated herself to
from a Medieval Market in France, Janet has had her eye on these style bags for a while, but she saw this one and could no longer resist and I don't blame her, just look at the workmanship, the carving and colouring on the leather is just exquisite Janet, I could see why you couldn't resist, when you think what we can pay for mass produced bags just because it has a little scotty dog on or a monkey, that any number of people could own as well, I bet this bag was no where near as expensive as those one and it is a one off, even if the creator tried, the chance of getting one exactly the same is pretty remote!
Thank you Janet for sharing your beautiful bag with us, I am sure you have got it filled to the seams of all our usual 'Ladies Handbag Essentials' ! xxxx
I hope that you all have a lovely weekend, especially our birthday girls!
Love and Hugs
Sandra

  1. Happy birthday Maureen, I have already wished Patricia a happy one. Oh boy we are being shown beautiful goodies this morning, Scarlett and Phoebe your cards are gorgeous. Janet that bag is a work of art. It will be around for many years and still be fashionable.
We are off out to stop the dress maker making our dresses, then go look for our pjs for the retreat, seeing that what you are all going to be wearing.
Sorry Pat the you are getting rain, nothing worse we had that here last year. Today it's hot already and we are just coming up to 9 o'clock.
Will call in later to have some of that cake with a cup of tea, Hazel xxx

I can see that I'm going to have to get some of those PJ trousers lol. Have a lovely day, it's pouring with rain at the moment. xxx

    2. Hello Hazel, couldn't you exchange your dresses for those Turkish baggy trousers with elastic at the bottom - do they call them harem trousers? Finished off with some curly pointy toed slippers?
Have a lovely day today - it's pouring wet here! Xxx

  3. Morning ladies

Maureen & Patricia - Happy Birthday!!!!!! Hope you both have a wonderful day.

Scarlett & Pheobe's cards are lovely.
Janet-I can see why you had to buy that handbag, it's gorgeous. I have a bit of a thing for handbags-two drawers in the base of the bed are full of them!

It's a very wet + windy day here so I must remember to take a jacket with me to the hairdressers.

The craft haul was full of lovely stuff-mainly Hunkydory toppers and stamps. I've put two tiny stamps to one side plus a bag of buttons & some lovely sheer ribbon but that's all. I've made a goodie bag up for a colleagues daughter and the rest is going to Chorley today. My mad friend reckons there might be more stash coming my way in 2 weeks time. That'll be something to look forward when I'm away. My friend is starting to panic as she'll have no-one to text when I'm away. I usually send her updates by email but she doesn't go on the computer very often. I try to make the email look like a diary with a plan of what we've done + where we've been. I send the same emails to my in-laws which means more to them as it's their relatives we're seeing.

I got a video from my Sister in Law with Max showing the countdown calendar they had made , counting the days until our arrival. I think Max had been given a speech to say when the camera was on him, he'll be 3 in November and it's nearly two years since we last went to Florida so I doubt he really remembers us but we have been Facetiming them quite a bit.

Right-best get myself sorted ready for the hairdressers.

Well Done ! To Scarlett and Pheobe for their Beautiful Cards! I bet your Grandma's will treasure them, looks like you both have a good grip of this crafting lark, enjoy xo
Janet , your bag is stunning ! what a great buy, it will go with almost everything and you'll get lots of pleasure and use from it, please find a virtual piece of silver inside for luck!
Michele , sounds like you and your friends have struck lucky again with your stash, Hunkydory toppers can be handy when you need to make a quick card , I often use the freebies to make cards for charity or give them to the playgroup to use.
Sandra , that cake looks so yummy , I think we will all want a piece , so I hope it lasts!
Love and hugs to you all xoxo

    3. Michele it's a shame you didn't know sooner - Anne would have cut your hair under lights accompanied by gnomes with a toadstool on which to put your cup of coffee! 4. Hi Sandra and all in the Cafe today.
Happy Birthday Maureen and Patricia. Sending you both loads of special birthday hugs. Have a wonderful day xxxxx
Scarlett, your card is beautiful, I love the gorgeous purple flowers, they so pretty. I hope that we can see more of your lovely cards : )
Janet, what a great bag, I love the unusual shaped front. It is always good to see something out of the ordinary and it will never become dated. What a great find.
Phoebe's card is the very first one she has made using her birthday goodies of "proper" card making stash, (she has just had her 6th birthday, by the way) I didn't help her at all apart from explaining about matting and layering as another way of making things stand out, rather than drawing around the outside with a different coloured pen as Phoebe was going to do. I just left her to it and this is what she came up with. I think she did a fantastic job for her first time. She wanted Great Gran and Great Grandad to have her very first card which I thought was very sweet, and I know Mum and Pop will treasure it. Phoebe has been well and truely been bitten by the card making bug so you will be seeing more of her creations no doubt.
Enough of the proud Gran stuff now. We had a busy day with various family members popping in to see us all, it was lovely to see them. Today is more of the same ( Chris is one of 6 so a large family) then home tonight.
I hope you all have a good day, those on holiday have a good time and those of us at home try not to get too wet! Must go as Kaye needs some help. Will try and pop back later. Take care xxp

Scarlet you are a very talented young lady, your card is beautiful and I bet your teacher was thrilled with it.
Phoebe, I i bet your Great Grandma Margaret keeps this lovely card forever.
Well done to both of you for making thank you cards, you both have lovely manners.
Janet what a find, it's stunning and such beautiful workmanship, love it.
Sandra tell the girls good luck with their game today. You haven't told us whether you have succumbed yet to Sue's new dies. Come on confess!!
Well I am pleased to say Peter did eventually roll in last night or better said early this morning. As most of the way home is through a forest along an ancient canal it was a bit of a worry, especially knowing what these schnapps evenings are like. Apart from some food shopping I don't have anything planned today. It looks like it might rain so I think coffee and crafting would fit the bill nicely.
    See you all later love

Ps, nearly forgot if any of you are free this afternoon and feeling strong I thought we might get together to give the Birthday Girls the bumps.

I wish for you to receive special gifts of warmth, fun, laughter and Love today.

Scarlett and Phoebe, well done on your beautiful cards. They are both so pretty and show that you have put a lot of kindness into the creating of them.

Oh my Janet, ooooh what a gorgeous bag, no wonder you could not resist. I wouldn't have been able to either. A designer bag that is yours alone. The detail is amazing.

Have a good weekend everyone, I am still sorting out stuff for when Jamie moves in with me, I just don't know how I have lived with all this clutter for so long and not noticed it expanding to fill every room.

Ooh, the post man has just been, and I've nipped downstairs to find:-
A beautiful card from the lovely Margaret C. Thank you so much Margaret, to think of me and spend the time doing this means so much as I know you have not been at all well.
Lynda, your card fair takes my breath away - a bit like George when he's got me by the scarf!!! It's lovely and there's no sign of any droopy bits ha ha.
Now then, we come to our Leader. Sandra, it's truly gorgeous. Although I did have a moment's doubt when I read the verse inside that said "nagging love" and then realised that it said "ongoing love"!!! ha ha. I MUST get my eyes tested again!
Ladies, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much. You have made an old woman feel very, very happy and truly blessed.
Well, the cement mixer has arrived, so I'm off to get the trowel and get some make up on.
I'll see you all later. Rachel, Peter and the girls are coming her so that we can follow them to the "surprise" restaurant, so they'll come in and look at all the cards. Eleanor and Zoe will think they are all amazing.

    9. Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart.
Knowing I have so many "met & and unmet friends" thinking about me on my birthday makes it even more special.
Hazel and I had a beautiful meal in our favourite restaurant in town. We have come up the road early to just sit and sip our cold drinks, chat and enjoy the warm rather than hot evening air.
Unfortunately we have neighbours playing "bloody awful" music on their balcony. I have just had a telling off from Hazel for making nasty comments in a loud voice!!! Well it's done the trick they have turned off the music thank goodness. xxx

  13. Thank you god all your comments about Scarlett's card. The folder she used is a Design Objectives (not sure who they are) and the flowers you will recognise as the fold over flowers. The tag is one of Sue's. She did it all by herself.
SUE please tell Pheobe that her card is lovely and I am sure your Mum and Dad loved it.
JANET. Love your bag. Who could have resisted buying that. I couldn't.
Hope you all have a good day. Lovely and sunny here. Had a walk to the shops and was sensible for once as I knew I wanted a few things and others would fall into my basket on the way round so took my small shopping trolley.
Must go and refill a cup candle as my friend had used hers and said I could have the cup and saucer back but I said no I will refill it for you. The design is lilac colour and I have some lovely smelling lilac colour wax from Theresa. Then I need to design a lantern for when we start the craft sessions again. Meeting up with my friend tomorrow to see if we need to buy any other bits and see what we already have. Reminds me I must order some plaques from a Joanna Sheen. We are doing a Christmas one. Did summer last time. Be back later.

The girls won their match this morning 3-2, it was chilly sitting out there, but the adrenaline kept me going!
The rest of the day will be busy restowing all of the holiday stuff away for another year and tidying my craft room, it would appear that Becca had been home for a spot of card making in my absence and the cats seem to use that room for their bug hunting, the biggest casualty was an A4 box full of Micro beads across the floor, I don't think that I will ever get it all hoovered up!

    1. Hi Sandra,
Congratulations to the girls on their win, and good luck with the putting away and hoovering up the micro beads!!
Brenda LL, I agree with you. TWISTER - my word, Sandra are you trying to finish me off. I can hardly walk never mind doing that!!! You'll learn the hard way that once you hit 49 it becomes increasingly difficult to do things. Patricia will concur with me, although she is as fit as a butcher's dog. xxx

    2. Wait until she reaches 70! She would find it impossible. Well Patricia used to do a lot of running, I have never been able to run. Don't think I will start now.

    3. Hi Sandra congratulations to the girls on their win. Glad to hear everything is now ship shape and Bristol fashion - what a shame about the micro beads though - I bet they have gone EVERYWHERE!!! I'm limbering up my ankles ready for twister! Julian has noticed this week if we've done a lot of walking and then sat down when I get started again my ankles go stiff and I walk like a duck!!! Isn't he kind!!! On the health app on my phone we have walked miles each day, well above 10,000 steps! No wonder they ache! Right, left hand on blue right leg on green!!!

Janet, love your bag. I wouldn't feel good to resist buying one of these if I saw them, your bag is the real work of art, I'm sure it will be admired where ever you go with it.

Sandra, pleased the girls had a good match AND won. Well done girl. Best of luck sorting out craft room. Be careful all those microbeads. I'm sure they will be in every nook and cranny. NIGHTMARE!!!!!!

  17. Afternoon one and all.
First HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY TWO LOVELY FRIENDS MAUREEN AND PATRICIA. HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY BOTH OF YOU.

Now Scarlett and Phoebe - oh what beautiful names to start with and then what talent you both have. I can see you both forging ahead with crafting as you both grow and I would love love to see more of your creations Please.

Thank you for all your lovely comments about my bag. I have resisted for a few years and bought just small things but just could not leave that on the stand this year. It really is a good thing that it's an annual event or heaven only knows what I would buy and this year we were lucky with the exchange rate so good as it was.

Hope you're all having a good week-end. Sandra well done to the girls and their team.
We're off tomorrow afternoon to our GGrandson's 2nd birthday party. The afternoon will be full of noisy 2-4yr olds - oh what joy!!! Earplugs may be a good idea.
Hugs to all. I've left some in the basket; the latte was much needed and the mug is back in place and money in the pot. Hope to see you all tomorrow. Off now for feet up time.

Well done the girls Sandra on winning the match, I bet they weren't as cold as you.
Had a wee busy day, I've managed to get a few candles finished, and get the hem of my skirt sewn, just need to press it now.
Don't know what's for dinner, better go and see what's in the fridge.
Sandra watch what you are doing and don't slide on the micro beads, what a nightmare, you will be finding them forever.

the cards made by SCARLETTand PHOEBE are tremendous I am quite jealous of their skills, their chosen colours, their layouts - very clever young girls
JANET Well! what a stunning bag. No wonder you had to buy it
last night was great fun. Even though daughter didn't win, we had a lovely time. Lovely food all evening, none of your curled up sandwiches, a huge chocolate fountain which was yummy and the champagne - no less, flowed. Our party also won a couple of lovely raffle prizes, me a driving experience - I can't drive and a tablet. I think future son in law will have the driving experience and the tablet (won by him) is being given to my MIL

  26. Ladies. Just back from the dress makers!!! What a night trying to tell her that we don't need those evening dresses, so what we have ended up with is- Patricia a top as she had made that bit of hers, and me a skirt, now I have had to have inches taken off as I dont want a long, long skirt. See you lot? the problems you have caused us with you deciding to wear your pjs is a real nightmare, plus the jeweller had gone and got tiaras, he caught us passing his shop and called us in. Oh boy he wasn't a happy chappy!!,!
At least we have lovely clothes to wear on the Saturday evening.
Been out for dinner and now we are sitting on the balcony in or nighties, oh I hear the " oh for goodness sake you two" it's so warm, there is a breeze but a warm one. We have had a lazy day but a lovely one.
Maureen, how was your road side snack bar??? I bet you went somewhere really posh.!!! And you where spoilt.
Myra, gadding again you are worse than us.
Saba, I would be watching the proms. Love the last night.
Sandra, the girls did really well done. But I hope who ever left the kittens to get to those beads owns up.
Well the room next to us have the most awful music on, Patricia is saying if it carrys on she will start singing " flower of Scotland" oh I don't think I want her to do that.

  27. Good afternoon my little coffee shop cherubs,
Well first we must wish the birthdays girls a very happy birthday today and who else now sees why there is such banter been Patricia and Maureen, it must be because they share the same birthday. Girls, hope both of you are having a fantastic time today and Patricia stop pushing Hazel off her bed just so you can get the wifi.
Scarlett, your card that you have made for your teacher is beautiful and you have made such a lovely job of the felt pom-pom flowers. I bet your teacher was so pleased in getting her beautiful card. Well done wee lass on making such a beauty.
Phoebe your butterflies emerging from each previous one is just lovely and looks so pretty. I hope that whoever you made your beautiful card was made for is equally as stunned by your beautiful work. I think both girls have made such a fantastic effort on both cards and should be so proud of themselves.
Janet, you lovely bag so reminds me of one that I had too many years ago to mention. I love the hand carving and painting on it and knowing that there could never be another the exact same makes it all the more special. Janet I wish you all the love and health to enjoy it flower

We've been back to Aberdeen today to buy last bits and pieces for Emma and take her out for lunch. Oh boy was it wet and windy, Norah I know what you mean about that rain! Yes it gets in places it shouldn't! We were following Google maps to find places so lots of hanging around in the wet whilst we worked it out. We went down to the sea front and the waves were huge! Such a difference from a year ago when we sat there in the sun! We've had a perfect week weather wise though so we can't complain. Emma seems to gave settled well, made friends and is so excited about her course which makes us happy. I did shed a few tears as I said goodbye though - it's a long time until Christmas . We fly home tomorrow - we hope! Trying to check in tonight but the flybe website won't let us. Oh well that's a job at the airport tomorrow. I just hope we are sat together. I'm signing along to the proms waving my chocolate ginger biscuit! We discovered a Walkers biscuit factory shop in Elgin - oh dear! A huge bag go chocolate gingers for £1.99! We couldn't say no. I can also recommend a trip to the Baxters food village - oh my goodness samples of the most wonderful jams and chutneys - oh yes and sloe liqueurs and whiskey to taste ( what a shame Julian's driving!). We also had huge pan cakes with apple and cherry and ice cream oh boy were they good. Right I'm off to make a cup of tea.
