Christmas Card Challenge

Good Friday Morning Ladies,
The weekend is upon us once more, but not before our usual look at a Challenge card, this one is a One Die Christmas card by the super talented Myra.
Myra has used the new Festive Collection Christmas Tree Greetings Die, designed by Sue Wilson and made by Creative Expressions.
I wasn't going to buy anymore Christmas dies this year but I really like this one, I also love that musical score Embossing folder that Myra has used, is it one of Sue's ???
I noticed that Icon UK have started stocking CE embossing folders now too, although I could only see two older ones, it would be good to have them all in one place.
I love how Myra has finished the card beautifully with a Bow tied using the gorgeous Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and a little (CE) Cameo popped in the centre, that's all it needs, this is one card that would have pride of place on the mantel piece!
Thank you so much for sharing your challenge card with us Myra xxx
keep the challenge cards coming in ladies x
Have a wonderful weekend,
Love and Hugs
Sandra

Have the most wonderful day ... love & hugs

Good morning everyone hope you are all well, if not remember to pick up some hugs from the basket by the door.
MYRA:- WOW!!!! that is one STUNNING card. I just love it. Absolutely fantastic design and colours.
Place all set up, have popped up some banners just help celebrate Sandra's Birthday. I know, I know, she is not here but we can still celebrate!!! Birthday Cake is for us to share, please help yourselves. There is another for the family when they get home.
Ladies:- I am in the process of making up a list of, Addresses, Birthdays & Telephone Nos. If you want your name added to the list please send me your information. Some of you have already done this, thank you. I thought it would be nice for the regulars to send cards (for any reason) to each other. It we each have a list we would not have to bother Sandra. I know Sandra does object but it is nice just to do things on the spur of the moment, well I do anyway. Everyone knows how nice it is to get a "RAK. card (Random act of kindness) popping through the letter box.
Will leave that thought with you.
Made myself some Tea & Toast, I am over at the corner table to people watch.
    See you all later xxx

  5. Happy Happy birthday Sandra, I hope you have a lovely day with all your family around you, no better way to spend your special day.
Myra, I love this card the colours are so Christmassy yet sophisticated.
Patricia, thank you for compiling the list of birthdays etc. such a good idea.
Started reading all the comments late yesterday then the phone rang, dogs needed feeding, then they wanted to play and before I knew it , it was time for John to come in from work. Where does time go, I'd love to see where it hides so I could get some back.
We had a good time at craft class yesterday, more laughing and talking, really enjoyed it, popped round to my daughter in laws when I came back and we chatted about the holiday ( clothes mainly) and it's time to book our Christmas meal, we like all the family together at Christmas but seating everyone is difficult so we now go out for Christmas Day Meal, no hassle. Then over the holiday time we take it in turns to host a buffet so we all get time to relax together.
Will pop back later even if I don't get to comment, I am here,
Have left hugs in the basket by the door, there is a special one for Sandra in gold wrapping just for her birthday,
Hope Shela is feeling a little better,

  7. Happy Birthday Sandra. I am so glad that you noticed big sis that you had missed out that word " NOT". Yes we all! Well I enjoy getting those kind of cards,
Myra, who ever gets this absolutely stunning card will be over the moon!! That die is fabulous and you don't need anything else, apart from like you have with the embossing folder and bow.
I have just been reading last nights comments, I went to bed early couldn't keep my eyes open. This retirement lark is no good. Between my day going so quickly ( then again I was up late) to being tired by 9. I think I prefered working and all the running around. I will see what today is like, I got up at 6 - yes the 4 legged alarm clock decided it was my turn. So first load of washing is in and I am going away to do some ironing.
SABA. Patricia is right, make those courgettes into fritters and have them with salad, they are lovely or look up a recipe for cake using them in it.
Maureen, will you stop kicking poor George, you will hurt yourself.
Pat, have you got those cases packed? I don't realy give Charlie a choice I pack what I want him to take and just tell him.
Right I am over at the window having my tea. Then I must get that irining done, or before I know it the next lot that's in the machine will be dry and needing done. xxx

Sandra-HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope you have a fantastic day.

Myra-what a stunning Christmas card. I love the tree die & am pondering on purchasing it. I'll see what takes my fancy at the craft show on Sunday.

Hurrah -it's Friday & I have a long weekend off! It will be a fairy busy one though-meeting a friend at the garden centre coffee shop tomorrow morning then a free afternoon (must make cards) then Dad, brother + wife will descend for tea a Saturday. Earlyish start on Sunday to collect M in L from Chorley then onto the craft show in Leigh. It's only a small show & we've been so many times that we won't be there that long. I've got a huge bag of magazines for M in L that I forgot to give her last weekend. Then on Monday I have a "free day" which really should involve gardening but we'll see!!!!

    1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUGS ! Sandra, hope you get lots of surprises and pampering on your special day xoxo
Myra , what a beautiful classy card, very sophisticated ! I love the traditional colours, I haven't bought any Christmas dies this year as I'm going to stamp most of them and just use dies from last year, the stamp I bought is two snowmen ( men? ) one is a female , meant to be Iain and me Ha Ha ! Only cost £1 reduced from £4:95 ( Sugar Nellie) it is quite cute , I will send one to Sandra when I get one made.
I am so pleased I ordered my new GC from C&C at £71 odds , as it is a much better buy than Hochandra ! ( they are asking £99:99) .
Sounds scrumptious in the cafe with all the treats for Sandra's Birthday, should we all wear Sandra masks like they did for Barbara Gray ? ( see her blog) and would you enjoy some appetisers ( water chestnuts marinaded in soya sauce , rolled in Demerara sugar, wrapped in streaky bacon and cooked in a hot oven for 10 minutes) they truly are delicious !
They would go well with the Cava or Champagne, I'll put some in the fridge for you and you can zap them in the microwave , meanwhile I'll have tea and toast with cheese and see who pops in.
I'll send my details Patricia , it's a lovely idea!
I was reading your comments to Iain about Hochandra and he found it all quite amusing!
See you later, love and hugs to all xoxo

Myra, love this card, it's got style, elegance and the wow factor all rolled into one. I like the balance the wider black mat gives and its a lovely design. Might pinch it if you don't mind as I imagine it would be a fairly quick card to make.

I ran up some birthday bunting last night so I'll just string it up across the window for all who are looking in to see that today is celebration day in the cafe, do drop in and have a piece of birthday cake with us.

I've already said happy birthday but I will say it again Happy Birthday!!!! Have a fab day. Gosh I've just read yesterday's blog and you did have fun! It was late by the time my friend left - oh we laughed so much all day my sides ached! We went out for lunch and left about 3 hours later, had to stop off at M&S on the way home just because and then came home for more chatting and finally fish and chips so a wonderful day. I have t watched the new Channel yet I've got it recorded for later. Sounds interesting! Jess I haven't forgotten, I will email you over the weekend to see if we can meet up, enjoy your gathering on Monday everyone. Norah lovely to see you back too. Xx Myra what a great Christmas card. I hadn't seen this die cut, it really is lovely so thank you for sharing. Oh dear my phone is downstairs and I've had at least 2 text messages now so I shall have to move and see what's so urgent! Also I can hear the kitchen bin opening and closing all by itself. Blessed thing! My sister gave it to us but I think she got the message at the weekend how annoying it is! Yes it's fun you don't have to touch it to open or close it but not so much fun when it opens every time you lean across it to get the peg bag or when the sun shine goes on it! Grrrr. Shall I call it George Alistair or Peter! Lol.

I got quite a surprise when I opened the door this morning and saw my card! It has now arrived in Romania! It went yesterday!
I really like the tree die and I will use it a lot. The music sheet embossing folder I have had for years and I can't remember who made it but it's way before CE made them! It's square. It looks nice behind the Joy to The World Die too , particularly as people associate that with the Carol. Ribbon, card and cameos all CE.
Well, I haven't read anything yet apart from Anne's Nibbles!! Read Sandra's too. Must go back and read.

  18. HELLO SANDRA, HAPPY BIRTHDAY PET!!!
"Pet" is a term of endearment in the North East, and we tend to use it a lot - and not in a cat and dog way!!! Have a simply wonderful day, and although I don't drink I will also raise a glass to you at the grand old age of 48. I hope that when I reach that great age, I'm as cheerful as you!!! ha ha .
Myra, don't ask me why but as soon as I saw your card the carol "Ding, Dong, Merrily on High" came to mind, and I'm going to be singing it all day! It's a gorgeous Christmas card, nice and festive. Much better than I thought one of yours would be (eeh, have I gone too far, hard hat and barrage knickers).
I've been soooo busy this morning. Nearly all of first lot of washing dry and about to start ironing, second load nearly ready to go out, Mr Sebo upstairs ready to vacuum when ironing finished, and duster at the ready.
You'll be pleased to know that I haven't kicked George this morning as he's outside in the garden!!! Not only did he eat Eleanor's strawberries yesterday morning, he sat in her seat. Now come on, I ask you, do you change places at the dining table, or do you always sit in the same place. Exactly, I rest my case (or knife and fork).
I feel a bit calmer today, so I may actually go and make him a cup of tea before I start to iron - now where did I put that ground glass !!!!!!!! ha ha.
See you later, the birthday cake is delicious Patricia, and I've finished my latte, my money is in the pot. Onwards and upwards as they say.

  21. Afternoon everyone
First PATRICIA I've just sent you an email and have now read that Sandra is going to have the list. I'll get in touch with her but can you just do me the little ask I have made other than the list. Please.

Myra your card I just beautiful. I looked and considered this die but as I have one of Sue's C.tree dies I decided against. I just might change my mind now.

Well we have done our last Friday market for a while. It was nice to see more of the locals than tourists today and of course next time it will only by locals.
Mrs Gossip was in full voice this morning and her tiny husband as usual was just sat their with that far away look on his face. She towers above him so they are really the little and large combination.
We also have our last Friday pastries so I'll let you know how they were tomorrow.
I'm now off to go and get changed as my tshirt and trousers are stuck to me and I cannot see properly for sweat running down into my eyes. Yes we are back into the highs again.
Have a good day everyone and I hope all who are under the weather will feel a little better tomorrow.

I am having 5mins to have a cold drink.
I have had a busy day. Did the house, had lunch, made a Meat Loaf for the dinner. Made a few other goodies for over the weekend. Rescued the washing when we had a very heavy shower, that's all ironed and put away.
Right better go tidy the sink area. Washed all pots, pans, trays, tools and gadgets I used, they now need dried and put away. Oh! I did something else ... I got a few "bits & pieces" organised for my holiday. I know, I know, it's another 11 days till I go. You can never be be too early getting things ready for a holiday can you???
Right better get a wiggle on, see you all later xxx

  23. Hi everyone, just had a light dinner, keeping my appetite for the party later.
Made a card for my daughter in law, will pop it in tomorrow, probably after our scrapbooking crop.
Hopefully will manage back later, xx

  24. Hello Hello Hello,
What time is this party starting? I've put a couple of the bottles of Champagne which Sandra kindly bought into the ice bucket so that's me and Muriel sorted.
As a special treat I've made some courgette fritters, some courgette muffins, courgette soup and to finish some courgette ice cream. Oh be a it careful with the fritters though, whilst I was busy grating them I noticed one of my fingernails was missing so if you do find it I thought I would offer a prize. It's made of glass and goes tick tock.
I finally thought of a caption for yesterday's sheep, but it involves wellies so thought I had better not publish it.
So let's get that music on, something from 1967, to remind us of the year and of course the day, our lovely Sandra was born, maybe Here comes my baby from the Tremeloes followed by Let it out ( let it all hang out) by the Hombres.
Ooooh we could have fireworks too.
    Xxxxx

    1. Oh Wow! 1967 . I got engaged to be married in December 1967! I remember The Seekers! Georgy Girl! Judith Durham's voice still gives me goosebumps! I so wish I could sing like that! Excuse me - but two Magnums of Champagne won't be enough never mind to bottles! Any one seen Jeroboam?
Saba - may I do an Alastair and ignore some of the courgette delectations? I know you are trying to get rid of them - sorry make good use of them! Give them to Peter - he'll be green by bedtime!
I've put some mini Yorkshire Puddings in the oven - they have roast beef and horseradish on top! Keep an eye on them - they only take 5 minutes! Xxx

    7. I would have had some of the Fritters but I'll pass. Sure as eggs is eggs I would get the fingernail. You would see it if it were mine ..... my friend does Avon, I do like to give her an order now and again. I get the Dry Oil Spray for the Mozzies from her. Last time I ordered some Nail Polish, it looked Ok in the catalogue but it is rather in your face Purple. Hazel can vouch for that, I have it on and had it yesterday. So!! if I had grated my nail you would have found it ... easy!!!
I have made some Bailleys Truffles and some Tablet to share out. I was going to make some of the Peanut, Crunchie, Choclate slab I make but I ran out of time. I found some "Sparklers" I will bring them as well xxx

  25. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDRA ! Sorry I'm late'ish but I thought off you all day
Hope you have had a fantastic day and Paul ,Sophie and Lucy have spoilt you with things all day. Now enjoy your Cava and have a wonderful dinner tonight.
Myra your x-mas card is gorgeous ! Love the deep red card and the E-folder.The letter tree is lovely too and what a good idea that you can easily split the words up. You are a very talented 'lady'.
Patricia, the cafe looks so nice with the beautiful banners and are there some balloons hanging outside in the garden. The fridge is brimming with goodies and champie and also some red and white wine .We are having a party in your honour Sandra,, might even have a boogie. Maybe Karen can show us some Salsa moves.
OH and I went early into town for haircuts and shopping this morning. Needed some new trainers and that took some time to find. It was so hot in all the shops so had to take it slowly, started to feel lightheaded so sat down for a scone and a cool drink at midday. Got back first at 5pm and are now completely pooped so will have a little sit down before starting on the dinner so I can enjoy the evenings antics. Only hope I don't dream of gourgettes and a certain person kicking poor George. ohhhh
Many Happy Birthday Hugs to Sandra and to you all xxx

I even went to tesco and bought Ritz crackers. Then I was trying to think what it was that use to be put on them? No sandwiches, I would have made you some without butter big sis. I have done a party Susan with lots of different fruits, did we eat mango in 1967? Same with kiwis? I can remember them then? That's was a pain to do. Any way I have made up the party trays. Thank goodness I had the platters still here. I put them on the tables that have been set up for the food. xxx

  37. Evening all and a very happy birthday to Sandra.
48 eh? and you don't look a day over 47!

Had another gander at Hochanda this morning before I set off for Gloria's funeral, and I'm sorry to say they haven't learnt anything from yesterday. The picture was still on the fuzzy side and echoes galore. Really annoying ones too. I wonder if the fuzziness is due to that it could be in 3D? Now where did I put them glasses too? Perhaps they have eloped with my sunglasses and my special TV ones.

The funeral was so lovely, a humanist one and we walked into the crem to the Emmerdale theme. Gloria loved her soaps, Acker Bilk's Stranger on The Shore was the tune for remembering past times with her, and we went out to Match of the Day! She had such a good sense of humour, loved football and fishing, and I'm sure she enjoyed every minute of it.
    Bedtime for me now.

  49. Hello Lynda, enjoy your Builder's and give Harry a little cuddle from me, he's so gorgeous on your photos. I wouldn't bother about reading the comments, it's hard to make sense of them!!! Of course anything I write is eminently sensible!!
