Mixed Up Saturday

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

Well what a week, it feels like it has been a long one,  for instance it seems like more than a week ago that Janet had her roof tiles blown off, we then had a last minute trip to Devon, it just all seems like that was all weeks ago.  On that subject Paul's Dad has improved slightly, he has good days and bad, he can just about manage one word answers but that means he can understand which is a positive thing,  last Saturday he was totally out of it,  they do think that he had a stroke on the Thursday night but the stories keep changing, he is very much struggling to swallow and has a very small apetite.  One worrying point arose when Paul's brother went to visit on Wednesday Morning, he asked his Sad what he had had for Breakfast,  he shook his head so Darren went to ask the staff, they said that they didn't give him breakfast as he looked like he was asleep!! This infuriated Darren as it meant he had had nothing since 5pm the previous evening,  they then started wondering how many meals and drinks he had missed, he looks like he is asleep because he struggles to open his eyes since his stroke!  Paul's Mum went in and asked to speak to the Manager to discuss the issue,  this actually resulted in her making a formal complaint.  In fact since Paul's Mum and sister and Brother have been making sure they are there for all mealtimes, feeding him themselves and making sure he drank enough fluids he has improved,  he is able to understand more and respond by giving one word answers, he couldn't do that last weekend,  he was both silent unable to communicate at all, he was laid totally unresponsive!  Which leads me to wonder if its neglect that had him in that terrible condition,  the home had been closed for over 3 weeks to any visitors because they had so many cases of Covid, so maybe as they had no visitors and such shortage of staff that they were neglecting basic needs.  Hopefully this formal complaint will help uncover the problem.  It's disgraceful bearing in mind the cost of his care !!

I received this month's copy of Die Cutting Essentials Magazine,  so I thought I would give you a sneak peek.....

Die Cutting Essentials Issue 86

Review

This edition of Die Cutting Essentials actually has some nice dies included (I think these are the first dies that I would use since I subscribed)!

This first feature shares some great ideas that use different Ink techniques to enhance the look of the dies, you can see the card that I made last week, although I used one of my Alcohol ink backgrounds. The step by step at the end us tips for using the dies to emboss the background if your card.

These pretty cards are all made using dies to create stamps using Funky Foam, the samples are all lovely, I have included the Step by step in case you fancy having a go, I know Our Michele has done this technique.

This feature shares some lovely ideas to add interest to Aperture designs.

Some lovely gifts made using this Month's free dies, I love the embroidery hoop.

This designer guides you through using your existing die stash to make Flip cards. It's always good to have some different ways to get use our dies.

I'm  not struck on this idea, but I guess its a different way to use our dies,  I can't see any of you wearing a die cut necklace ant time soon! 🤣😂

Jazz up some clean and simple cards by using some of your Border times,  the cards all look so pretty, I will definitely be having a play with this idea.

This feature shares ideas for combining the dies with the free downloads to create some really lovely cards.

Lastly I have to say I love the look of these cards, they two tone inlaid die cuts to create stunning results,  I have included her step by step technique so you can see how to create the designs.

I hope that you enjoyed this little peek inside this month's issue, there are some great techniques and some lovely inspiration.

Well ladies I hope that you all have a lovely weekend.

Sending my love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra

  1. Morning Everyone
This edition of the mag looks interesting I shall come back for a deeper look later.

We are so fortunate in that we have never had to have dealings with residential care.I know there are some really good care homes out there but I must admit I see more negative reports than good ones.

Well the telephone call from the surveryor never came yesterday inspite of our calling the Consortium the Insurance Co uses and being told he would be ringing in the afternoon. As a result Jim is off on his own to M&S this morning just in case the call comes. He has a LIST!! but it will be interesting to see what's in the shopping bag when he arrives home.lol.

The CAFE is OPEN so pop in ALL are welcome to see beautiful completed projects etc.
HUGS are on their way to you all.HAVE A GOOD WEEK-ED.PLEASE TAKE CARE AND STAY SAFE.xxxx

Janet, hope you not sitting in for nothing this morning. Maybe Jim brings you a surprise for a coffee later.
Karen, enjoy your evening on your own. Shame we not living closer or you could have popped over to mine as my OH is also out tonight.

  4. Hello All, another wet and cold day here, although we had an amazing sunset last night so I was expecting a sunny day, just shows the saying about red sky at night is not always right.

The magazine looks really good, love the leaf dies. Some really interesting card ideas to follow.

Hope the girls had a good birthday meal out, and you all enjoyed yourselves.

Janet sorry to hear you have had no call about your roof tiles, luckily there hasn’t been a lot of rain. Hope Jim’s shopping goes well.

It’s Rs birthday today so we are having a lazy day with Chinese for dinner.
Hope you all have a good day Lilian

  5. Hi everyone
Live the quote, so true 😉
Great magazine review, the free dies look fabulous. Some great looking articles for inspiration.
Pleased to hear there’s some improvement with Pauls Dad, although it does sounds that it’s due to you and the family raising your concerns. I hope they look into Pauls mums complaint, and learn from it.
Janet, sorry you didn’t hear from the surveyor, hopefully they’ll have called you this morning. Hope you didn’t get too many unexpected surprises in your shopping xx
Lilian, Happy Birthday to R, enjoy your Chinese dinner xx
Hope everyone is having a good day. Sending hugs to you all xxx
