Mixed Up Saturday

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

A chilly wet day for our Travels but I guess we are warm and dry in the car, fingers crossed the roads aren't too busy!  I think we are going to have some lunch with Paul's Mum first and then going down to see Paul's Dad for a couple of hours after that we will set off home as MIL will come down to give Dad his Tea.  It will be a long day, fingers crossed that FIL is having a good day as Paul needs to see him a bit more responsive than last time, seeing him so lifeless really upset Paul.  It's so hard to know what we can take him, he can only eat mushy food so we can't even take him naughty sweets like we did last time.  Paul is going to set up the 'Audible' App on the Tablet that we bought him so that they can both sit and listen to stories while they sit together, he doesn't really enjoy having the TV on.

The beautiful Vintage themed card above is one of Our Janet's cards from a couple of years ago, Janet kindly sent a couple of her favourites to inspire you. The lady features on the card above is stunning, the frame is a Sue Wilson Noble Rectangle die and Janet has added some gorgeous flowers and Seam binding ribbon in pretty contrasting colours.  Thank you for the inspiration Janet XXX

Karen's Texture Journal

1) is dry embossing with a stencil on shaving foam technique [this Go Power and Emboss is a beast!]

2) Mopping up Shaving Foam Technique/Vellum Sentiment

3) smooshing a couple of DO and through a stencil Plus texture paste

4) Emboss Resist Technique with Distress Oxide Ink

5) is torn masking tape Then inked with 3 green DO Added Versamark and clear embossing on top The flower heads have all been coloured with different pens pencils etc I will add to the white pages what I did for future reference etc

6) Using Die Cut to create Texture

Karen's Description:

A whole journal on textures I wanted to try Some I like better than others but that’s the whole point isn’t it!!

Karen has finished her First Journal this one featured different techniques that we use to add Texture to our backgrounds, each page refers to a particular technique, Karen has documented exactly what she used to create the texture, what she used to colour etc.
This is such a brilliant Idea and that's what I thought Art Journaling was all about, they are such useful resources to have at hand for when you are either having Crafters Block or if you want to achieve a particular kind of look on a card or project.  My Journals are all quite large, I have this 'Miss P Loves' Mini Album die set and I will definitely be making a few of these mini journals.
Just looking at a few of your pages I'm getting inspiration for some card ideas.

Thank you so much Karen for sharing your hugely inspirational Texture Journal with us, I can think of so many more Mini Journal Ideas.  I can't wait to see your  next one. XXX

That's all for today Ladies, I hope that you all stay warm and dry and have a lovely weekend.

My love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra

What a fantastic Journal KAREN and what a really good idea to document the process you used.

Hope your journeyis trouble free SANDRA and that DAD is having a reasonable day.

  2. Beautiful card Janet I hope to do something in vintage colours with a contemporary look It’s working in my head🤣
Safe trip SANDRA All you can do is expect the worst and hope for the best When my son struggled to swallow - hospital purée food used to make me heave when trying to help him eat He liked ice pops which he could slowly suck on and fruity sorbets I’m sure the home should be able to store them for you But I suppose that’s where we were lucky in that each ward had its own kitchen to be able to store yogurt etc - there’s another easy food to eat even if it’s a children’s one
Thank you for showing my journal I really enjoyed doing it These MissP Loves journals are small but big enough to have a play on The good thing is if I do more pages I can easily add to it I am going to treat myself to her standard spine one and hopefully make mini albums of days out
    Take care everyone xx

  3. Hi everyone
Lovely vintage card Janet, it’s beautiful. Thank you for inspiring us 😊
I was on Pinterest last night getting a few ideas ready for next week! ☺️
I absolutely love your journal Karen. The pages are fabulous. I’d not heard of Miss P Loves until it was mentioned on here, so I’ll take a look 😊
I hope you have a stress free journey there and back Sandra, and Pauls dad is having a good day. Sending hugs xx
Mark has a gig today, I was originally going but I’ve now decided I’m going to stay home, so crafting and catching up with recordings is on the agenda for me.
Have a good day everyone. Sending hugs to you all xxx

Hi Sandra and all in the Cafe today.
Sandra I hope you and Paul feel easier after seeing Pauls Dad today. I hope you don’t feel too bad after the journey either my lovely xx
Janet I love your cards and challenge. I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone makes xx
Karen, your textures journal is fantastic. Seeing one broken down into single pages certainly takes away the “oh my goodness how do I fill this journal up” I love how you have even added little details to your “How to….” pages. Enjoy having the boys today xx
Lilian I hope your back is improving xx
Maria, I hope you are feeling a bit better too xx
Brenda, thinking of you and hoping your as well as possible xx
Sending love and hugs to you all. Take care xx

  5. Hi ladies.
Love the vintage card by our Janet, she is beautiful the girl you been using on some cards.
Great idea to make the pages with everything you have used written down for the future Karen. Your pages are wonderful ☺️ have not done the shaving foam technique for some time. I get real messy with doing that one.🤭
Sending hugs you Sandra and Paul, sorry to hear it been a stressful day seeing FIL. Drive safe home.
Also extra hugs for anyone else who need some, there are plenty more in the basket just inside the door. Take care xxx
