Lynda's Beautiful Butterfly card and Harry in the Snow

Happy Birthday
Janet

Good Morning Ladies,

First of all I would like to wish our Janet a very Happy Birthday, Thank you for all you do to keep our 'cafe' running smoothly. XXX

Goodness me it's cold, yesterday I have the coal fire on all day and I even lit the Aga,
Our kitchen is really big with high ceiling it has no radiators either, so it's really cold.
The bonus of having it in to hear the kitchen was that I could cook tea on it too, it was lovely to cook on plus you have the oven already heated up too, so I could just pop the bread in To go with dinner without preheating the oven. It made quite a difference to the heat in the kitchen.
Sue came over yesterday, she bought a snow blizzard with her, luckily it didn't settle, otherwise she would have had to go straight back, we are in a very rural area so if we get a good amount of snow we may have problems.
We got to work and got the doors fixed the doors to me craft unit, Paul has it in position now which made it easier.  The only problem is now there are no more instructions and I still have 4-5 boxes of bits to add to it!  I am going to call them tomorrow to give them my opinion! I guess they want you to pay the £200 (it's gone up £50 in 3 weeks) to have them fix it together.

Today's card was made by Lynda, she used a Free magazine die to create this gorgeous card, die cutting it twice and layering over a piece of Clarity Northern Lights patterned paper, it works so well, I do love that background.  The die looks like an expensive detailed die, it's so pretty.
Lynda has embellished the cards with some Sue Wilson Butterflies, that have been die cut in a complimentary colour.
A truly stunning card Lynda, thank you so much for making it for me to share my lovely XXX

Weather permitting I am hoping to see Pat today, I don't want her driving out here if it's icy though.  We are very much out in the sticks here with deep ditches and the snow will cover some huge pot holes.  I have made some Leek and Potato Soup just in case though!

I am off to start emptying my boxes of craft stuff into the storage boxes for the unit, I am hoping my new stamps will be arriving in a day or so.

Have a lovely day whatever you are doing, stay warm and safe.

Lynda I hope your new Antibiotics work quickly XXX

Love and hugs to all,

Sandra

My Challenge Card

Good Morning Ladies,

Well here it is, my first card forward seems like months.  It was made on the coffee table in the lounge with a magazine Freebie and a piece of So Saffron card and a piece of White card. I couldn't find my coloured gems or ribbon, so there are no fancy embellishments.  I did add the sentiment which is from Stampin'Up! 'Best Birds' stamp set, I stamped it on a piece of So Saffron card and die cut it, I cut another die cut and cut it in half to create a white mat to go behind the yellow. The rest of the card is what was in the magazine.

I can't tell you how good it felt to be crafting again even if it was using things I never even think of using, unless it's a die I usually put the free gift in a drawer and forget about them. So it was a real ' Challenge' for me to use  the free gift.  Luckily these toppers and papers were actually fairly decent quality.

Did any of you see the Creative Expressions shows on Hochanda yesterday, it was Lisa Horton demonstrating some Lovely stamps, I was sold within 5 minutes of them showing the sample cards, such a lovely versatile collection. I will add a picture below....

Here are some of Lisa's Samples...
Aren't they stunning?!

Well I checked and I am still a Freedom Member so they just happened to fall into my basket, the whole collection, I can't wait for them to arrive!!  Did any of you get them??

I hope that you all have a lovely day, try and keep warm!

Love and hugs

Monday Challenge plus Karen's other Challenge card

Karen's Sketch Challenge from last monday's
Challenge

Good Morning Ladies,

Oh my goodness I am buzzing with excitement ladies, yesterday we had a good sorting out boxes day, I found some of my craft stuff, not all of it but hopefully enough to make a card or too.  I was all set to make one last night but I couldn't find the box with my trimmer and score board in. 🙁 !!
So that is my mission today, I can't tell you all how excited I am to start making cards, Paul thought I had gone made yesterday afternoon as I was jigging about with excitement as we found the craft room boxes, it was like Christmas!!

So onto this week's Challenge.......

I would like you to make a card with a Magazine Free Gift,  if you are anything like me you have plenty to choose from!
It can be a free stamp or die or something made with free papers, for those of you that don't buy magazines you can use Anything that you have got for Free,  it could be a gift or a prize or anything.
I have set this as the challenge as I only have access to limited craft stuff but I have a few magazines handy so I thought that I would use those as they usually get put away and forgotten about.  I hope that you all have at least one thing that you can use to take part.  If you haven't I can send you something to use. Just let me know.

Now onto Karen's Challenge Card, Karen used the sketch to make her card, she took a piece of Blue card and added a double sided sticky sheet to the centre, she then added some Iced Snow to the sticky area.  Karen then die cut Snowflake Striplet three times into a piece of White card, then placed this over the sparkly blue background.
Karen then added a piece of White card across the centre of the card and placed the die cut 'Merry Christmas' which has been Matt and layered to match the card.
I think Navy and White is always a winning combination, so I love this Christmas card Karen, thank you so much for sharing it with us.  Also I am sorry I missed it yesterday. xxxx

Well ladies I am off to look into some more Boxes for my trimmer and score board so that I can make my challenge card or cards, I can't tell you how exciting that sounds!
Wish me luck ladies x

Have a lovely day ladies

Love and hugs to all of you.

Your Challenge Cards

Lilian

Good Morning Ladies,
I hope that you are all well and managing to keep warm in this cold weather.
We had a nice day out yesterday at the Oyster Crafts Demo day and mini craft show. Although I have to say it really was a 'Mini' craft show, there were only a handful of craft stands.
Oyster Paper Crafts had a stand with two lovely demonstrators, one showing how to make foam flowers, the other was demonstrating Penny Black silhouette stamps, she had some lovely cards and techniques.  Some of which I am eager to have a go at.

Now onto your lovely challenge cards..........

Lilian's card above is a beautiful version of this weeks 'Sketch' challenge, with the three gorgeous 'Foxgloves' (i think) and the die cut border with the sentiment.
Such a pretty card, that looks almost hand painted. Your cards are always stunning Lilian.
Thank you so much for taking part.
XXX

Val
Val has used a selection of patterned paper that work beautifully to create the background of her card, the focal point is that pretty 'Gorjuss' topper that Val has framed with a die cut.  Those dainty little flowers are the perfect finishing touch to your card Val, thank you so much for taking part.
XXX

Margaret

Margaret has used the Stampin Up 'Touches of Texture' stamp to create the three sections of the Sketch challenge this week, it works beautifully with those lovely flowers Margaret. The matting and layering you have done really gives a fantastic finish to the card, It's fantastic Margaret, thank you so much for taking part.
XXX

Brenda

Brenda has used her new Paper pad to create this beautiful Challenge Card, matting the patterned paper flags onto the pink makes the really stand out from the background, it's such a pretty pink too. I love the butterfly with its patterned background too, it looks so delicate. Such a lovely layout and card Brenda, thank you so much for sharing it with us.
XXX

Lynda

Lynda has used 3 coordinating papers to form her background, a simple piece of twine and ribbon embellish  the card along with a topper that has been stamped to match the background, all in all a fantastic card Lynda. thank you so much for taking part.
XXX

Karen

Karen has used the resist technique to create her background, I love the colours you have used over the top, I will add Karen's description here......

"Hope this is ok for challenge It’s another sketch but also used two things from the tic tac toe - resist technique and twine
The resist technique is an oldie ironing embossed wax paper between two pieces of gloss card (cheap photo paper) to transfer the wax I smooshed it through Pixie Powders.

A lovely bright card, it reminds me of Spring!
Thank you Karen for taking part this week.
XXX

Thank you so much ladies for taking part this week, you are all amazing!

Have a lovely Sunday

Love and hugs

Michele's Magazine Review, Shopping & a Great Idea !

Michele's Magazine Review

Here’s this months roundup of crafty magazines.

Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine has some lovely Art Deco toppers which you could use for a variety of occasions.

Diecutting Essentials magazine has a brilliant set of Dies free this month-flowers, Easter eggs & bunnies plus a basket very similar to the Sue Wilson one. Lots of ideas inside the magazine using the fre gift.

Simply Cards & Papercraft has a gorgeous set of stamps & Dies from Altenew plus some matching downloads to use with the Dies if you’re not confident about Stamping,

Making Cards has a great set of stamps plus great quality papers. Two themes on the papers-Easter & general/wine glasses to coordinate with the stamps. Lots of possibilities with this set of stamps.

Look who got their cards in print???!!

Papercraft Inspirations has a lovely set of heart stamps & Dies free this month.  The free papers are all “weather related “ and there’s some lovely cards to copy.

That all for another month.

Michele
XXX

Thank you Michele for another fantastic review, Congratulations on getting your cards published in a magazine, you are becoming quite the Celebrity Card maker!!! I am so pleased for you, your cards are amazing and totally deserve a spot in a magazine!

I will confess that I just couldn't resist the magazine with Altenew Dies etc, they look so fantastic, I can't wait to play with them.
Brenda

Brenda shared her shopping with us this week, oh Brenda I think I might just have to get the Vintage Embossing Folder and Paper pad, they are so pretty!!

The first photo is what Brenda bought from Oyster Crafts, some Foam for making flowers and a simple die to die cut them with, I can't wait to see how you get on Brenda, Sue and I spent an afternoon playing with the same foam but we didn't really get much success, I was using my best gun though, which may have been to hot, the successful ones I've seen on YouTube use an Iron, hold the foam on for a few seconds and shape!
I do love that template you have bought too.

Brenda's second photo shows the lovely paper pads and Embossing Folder from Crafter's Companion, they are so pretty, your cards are going to be amazing!!
Thank you so much for sharing your shopping my lovely .
XXX

Karen

Karen Couldn't resist these new Stamps a new and Dies from John Lockwood after seeing them on Hochanda, Karen isn't a member though so bought hers from Ang Duck (Ducksdoodahs).
I didn't see the show that they were featured in Karen but I will go and have a look, I look forward to seeing what you make with them. Thank you so much for sharing your shopping with us.
XXX

 Danielle

Danielle needed a New Baby card in the week but didn't have a Stamp or day that would work, so she had a quick browse on Pinterest and a a couple hours later she had made this!! I think it's a brilliant idea! Just a piece of blue card, a couple of doilies and some ribbon! Such a a lovely card.
Thank you so much Danielle for allowing me to share your card.
XXX

Well that's all for today, will you be buying any of Michele's featured magazines??, I am hoping that there will be someone selling Sara Davies paper pads at the Craft show today, there aren't very many exhibitors but the ones that are going usually have a good range of products. So fingers crossed !!
It will be nice to get out of the house and away from the box mountain!
I have pretty much fitted most of my unit together, it just needs to be moved into position and then the doors can be attached, I finished assembling them yesterday.  To get it into its position is going to be like one of those little puzzles with a free square, where you have to move all the other bits around to get everything in the right order, it's going to be chaos for an hour or two, well maybe three!
I will be taking plenty of photos so you can see how I decide to organise it.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend,

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra

Something Floral for Friday

Good Morning Ladies,

Today's 'Something Floral' card has been designed and created by our Lynda, who very kindly made some extra cards for me to share while am unable to get cards made.
Lynda's card was made using a Clarity stamp called 'Chrysanthemum & Butterfly',
Lynda used the Chrysanthemum stamp, which she stamped and heat embossed, then she coloured the flower in a beautiful shade of pink using Watercolour Pencils and then going over with a Sparkle Pen.  Lynda then added a frame made from Sue Wilson's Stitched Circle dies, such a great idea as it frames the stamped image perfectly.
To embellish the card Lynda added two lots of pearl sprays and some perfectly coordinating paper flowers.
Such a gorgeous card Lynda, thank you so very much for making it for me to share with our friends. XXX
I do hope that your tooth ache has eased. xx

Pat came over yesterday, it was lovely to see her, it seems like months since we last met up but it was about two weeks ago, it wasn't sensible to meet up last week as Pete has to be careful not to have any contact with anyone with germs!
We soon made up for lost time though, Pat bought some yummy cream cakes which was a lovely treat.  I didn't feel guilty either as I have lost about a stone since starting to clear and clean the bungalow, being so unwell last week added to the loss as I had no appetite all week. Pat very kindly offered to take a load of the cardboard boxes from my craft unit to the cardboard recycling bins and a huge pile of craft magazines.
Every little bit helps, so I was very grateful.  Thank you Pat XXX

I managed to build the two doors of my craft unit after Pat left, so it's getting close to being finished, I am so excited to start organising my craft stuff and putting it into all of the storage boxes included, there are loads of them!  There is light at the end of the tunnel at last. !!
I saw on the weather last night that we are going to be experiencing a real cold spell with winds coming in from Siberia!  So make sure you all stay wrapped up warm.

Have a lovely Friday Ladies,

Love and hugs,

Sandra

Pretty Aperture card

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that you are all well, I can hardly believe it's almost the weekend again, this week has whizzed by so fast.
It will be so nice not having to spend the weekend cleaning the bungalow.  We can have a nice restful weekend, I hadn't realised the date, luckily Margaret reminded me that we have tickets to a Craft Demo Day at Bracknell in Saturday, Pat found the event after Farnborough was cancelled, I'm not sure what there will be there, hopefully some of the popular stands. I don't really enjoy doing 'Make & Takes', I prefer crafting at my own pace, so I'm not to fussed about taking part in those, we will find out when we get there I guess!  I'm sure we'll have fun whatever it is.

Today's stunning Aperture card has been designed and created by our Lovely Janet, she has embossed the front of the card with the Sue Wilson 'Beaded Swirls' embossing folder, before it was embossed Janet die cut an oval aperture out of the card front, then another slightly larger oval was cut in lilac card to frame the aperture.  Janet has then stamped that lovely sentiment on another piece of lilac card and centred it in the oval aperture.
A string of tiny pearls add a pretty finishing touch to the oval.
Janet has then created a gorgeous floral spray to add embellishment to the card, picking colours that match perfectly with the accent colours.  I love the addition of the beaded hat pins in the floral spray the give a real touch of luxury to the card as do the die cut swirls behind the flowers, they help draw your eye into that sentiment.
A truly stunning card Janet, thank you so much for allowing me to share it with everyone. XXX

Pat is coming over today, I'm not sure what we are going to do, there is the local village coffee morning on a Thursday, it opens to coincide with the opening time if the local post office (once a week on a Thursday morning). I think it finishes at 11am though. Which would be a little bit of a rush. I would like to go to one though to meet the local people. It will be nice to see Pat though whatever we decide to do.

I hope that you all have a lovely day too,

Love and hugs,

Sandra

Another 'Wings' card

Good Morning Ladies,

My lovely friend Danielle also made a 'Wings' themed card last week that I didn't get to post in time for Sunday so I wanted to make sure it got it's day in the spotlight, it's a gorgeous card made using the Stampin'Up! 'Petal Palette' Suite, Danni has taken a piece of the background paper and coloured it with Real Red in different places but quite randomly. She has then taken a little topper with the pretty little bird on and punched out a circle so that the sentiment is central, backing this with a Mat of the Real red card to make it pop!
I will leave a link below to Danni's blog where you can see this 'Valentines' card in detail and also a day later the other card I have shared :

Thank you Danielle for allowing me to share your cards with everyone, Danni does card giveaways on her YouTube channel too so follow the link from her blog, all you have to do is comment on the post or video, Danielle's cards are always stunning and would be a lovely prize! XXX

Sue came over yesterday, which was a lovely treat, we decided that we get some of the pieces of my craft unit out to see if we could find instructions, we were soon knee deep in cardboard packaging and polystyrene sheets, Sue meticulously counted all the nuts, bolts, gizzits and gizmo's, (I've never seen so many odds and ends), brackets and hinges, you name it we had a bag of them!
Once we found the instructions we were flying along, until we had a piece that didn't look the same as the diagram and certainly had different fixings, well we twisted it, turned it, it just wasn't looking right, so I decided to call them, this piece of furniture was a LOT of money so I expected it to be properly packed.  After 10 minutes he lovely girl at the office called me back and said she had spoken to the chap that builds them for customers for the princely sum of £150 ! and he explained that they have changed the part so the one we have (that looks different) us in fact right, but we only need to use short bolts (not the long ones the instructions tell you use) oh and you don't put it together as it tells you in the instructions either, she then reeled off the right way to do it!! Once we had the right instructions we were flying along, it was only when Sue's alarm went off that we realised it was 6 o'Clock but to be honest that's not unusual for Sue and I ! We managed to get the main carcass of the unit together (apart from the top) we were a little vertically Challenged for that though.
I was a little sad that we weren't going to finish it together, to be honest though I'm not sure Paul will have time to help in the next few days so it may well be still waiting next week, although I don't really have the patience to wait that long!
Thank you so much Sue (and your very organised tool box)! It is always so much fun tackling any project with you! I hope your hands aren't too sore today xxxxx

Another Uni trip today, this time it's to Staffordshire university, for Sophie again, this is one of her first choices so I hope it's all she wants it to be.
She had good news yesterday, Leicester University offered her a place on their Animation Course, which she is excited about, it's a nice confidence boost too after having interviews on Saturday.

I hope you all have a lovely day,

Love and hugs

Karen's Challenge Card

Good Morning Ladies,

First of all today I am relieved to tell you that it's gone, finished and we don't have to think about it anymore!!! Paul handed back the bungalow at noon yesterday, all went fine, I could see the relief on his face as he walked in the door, this had been our hardest 'move out' ever, and we have done at least 8 over the years, thankfully that was our last. Whoever moves in will get a much cleaner place than it was when we moved in, that's mostly a pride thing I think, as people are quick to comment.

On to today's card, Karen made her 'Wings' themed challenge card but I didn't get it in time to share with you all on Sunday.
It's so pretty Karen, I really love the background you created on Serif, it really does look like you have manually added the sentiment.! Here is Karen's description...

" I found a layout on a Serif kit (Botanical Butterflies I think) I removed the butterfly and added a vellum and a white (covered in chic viola mica powder) Spellbinder La Papillon butterfly die cut and changed the lettering which is central on the card but looks a bit too far to the right on the photo"

The sentiment looks fine to me Karen, that butterfly is so delicate. Such a lovely card, thank you so much for letting me share it with everyone today. XXX

Paul had the night off last night before starting the major unpacking, it's the first time in week's we have actually sat on the sofa together, it was lovely.

I hope you are all well,

Have a lovely day however you are spending it.

Love and hugs

Monday Challenge

The Challenge

Some inspiration

Good Morning Ladies,

It's Monday so that means a new challenge, this week's challenge is a little bit different, a mixture of the 'TicTacToe' Challenges that we have done many times and a fairly straightforward sketch.
Now you can choose either the sketch OR the Tic Tac Toe, or you could have a go at mixing the two together, it's up to you.
I look forward to seeing what you all decide and can't wait to see your cards.

We finished up at the bungalow yesterday, I can't begin to explain how relieved I am.  It gets handed over today at noon by Paul. It will be so lovely having him come home and being able to relax. (Well when he has unpacked this place)! Only kidding I think he has earned a couple of nights off!

I am hoping to find enough craft stash to join in the challenge myself this week, wish me luck, I can't wait to get crafting!!!

I hope you like the challenge ladies,

Have a lovely start to the week,

Love and hugs to all of you,

XXX

Maria

Maria has shared 3 bright and beautiful Challenge cards this week, the first a lovely Children's card, showing plane flying over the countryside.  Lynda

Lynda has used a 'Joy Crafts' Silhouette stamp to create this beautiful card, I will add Lynda's description below:

"My challenge card
I used a clear stamp from Joy crafts
Silhouette women . I stamped a few more butterflys & die cut three small butterflys added pearls.& added a wooden embellishments sentiment from beautiful you stamp set
Background I just inked lightly on with some fossilized amber oxide

Thank you so much for sharing your card Lilian.
XXX

Michele

Michele made 2 more cards for this week's challenge, the first features Owl's, such a cute topper from 'Little Clare' that Michele has framed beautifully with the black die cut frame, Michele has added that to a card base topped with a piece of matching coloured paper from a watercolour pad from the Works.
Michele's second card is a great Man card, with a funny sentiment, it is a topper from Hunkydory, It really works on the tartan background Michele, thank you for taking part.
XXX

Margaret

Margaret has used a really pretty detailed die cut to create her Challenge card this week, simply die cut in white and laid over a Navy blue background, it's a classic combination that really works, a lovely card Margaret, thank you so much for taking part.
XXX

Brenda

Brenda, such a gorgeous card! Brenda used the Flora Die that she won on Sue Wilson's Blog, die cut in Lavender, which she placed into an aperture made with the same die into a lilac card, it works so well and is such a pretty die.  To embellish the card Brenda cut some different sized butterflies in lavender card and layered them with some tulle, it gives such a pretty detail to their wings.
I love your card Brenda, thank you so much for taking part.
XxX

Ladies thank you so much for taking part in this week's challenge, I am so very grateful for your time and effort.

Well it's the final day at the bungalow today, I'm not sure how much I'll be able to do, I got it almost complete so would like the satisfaction of finishing the job, just the lounge to do really. Wish me luck!!

Have a lovely Sunday ladies,

 Michele

Michele received this gift in the post yesterday, she thinks it's a substitute Free gift for her Quick Cards Made Easy Subscription, either way it's a fantastic freebie.  I know it's something completely new to you Michele, i can't wait to see what you do with them.  Thank you for sharing.
XXX

 Karen

Karen made this absolutely amazing 'Teacher' themed Birthday card for a friend.
The background was created on Serif, I love how you have added the 'Drop Shadows' to some of your background details to make it look like they are separate elements that you have stuck onto the background, the details you have added are perfect for the theme too.  The Alphabet that Karen has used is from the 'ScanNCut files. Again it works brilliantly with your card theme.  I bet Kat was amazed when she opened her card Karen, thank you for sharing.
XXX

Janet

Janet took an empty Gin bottle and Altered it to something absolutely beautiful.
The bottle took four coats of White acrylic paint, which were allowed to dry before Janet used some of her beautiful Lace, Appliqués and Braid trim to decorate the painted bottle. It is so lovely Janet, thank you so very much for sharing your Altered Project with us.

Thank you ladies for taking part in Mixed Craft Saturday, we have some stunning works of art this week!

Something Floral For Friday

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that you ladies are all well and are looking forward to the weekend, I am looking forward to the fact that 'the end' is in sight!!!

Paul is taking Sophie to Leicester University on Saturday for a look around, frustratingly Lucy has been offered a place there too but she can't get the day off work, she said that she trusts Sophie's judgement but Sophie will be looking at the Art & Design Department not the Biological sciences so no doubt we will be visiting again in a few weeks, I would like to go but I honestly don't think I will be fit enough and wouldn't want to affect Sophie's experience, it's nice for them to have some Dad/Daughter time anyway.

Today's 'Something Floral' card is one of Our Janet's, she has used Sue Wilson's Californian Collection Corner dies to create the outside of the card, the inside is (I believe) Sue's Spanish Collection Background Die cut down to make a square, the joins have been cleverly disguised with those carefully placed Flowers.
I love this card Janet, the red and white are a absolute classic combination that works beautifully.
Thank you so much for sending it in for me to share. XXX

I am hoping to email you all an update today.  Thank you for your love and kindness.

Love and hugs

Sandra
