Good Morning Ladies,
I hope that today finds you warm and dry, I hope that our weather settles down to something near normal for this time of year! Instead we seem to be going from one storm to another, bringing either severe winds or flooding, for quite a few years we have had snow on or around Sophie & Lucy's birthday, that is 'normal' weather for early February not lashing winds and mass flooding. Anyway lets help it calms down for a few days, we got caught in a hail storm yesterday, my goodness did it sting as it hit you, I was with the girls, which means there were fits of laughter, we were soaked through our clothes by the time we got back to Soph's car ! It took ages to warm up when we got home.
After our trip I warmed my fingers back to life I sat at my desk to try something new! I wanted to have a go at a technique in that last magazine I shared with you.
I used the free stamp from 'Stamps By Me' that came as part of the free stamp collection. I placed the stamp onto my stamp platform and added a piece of card to the base, (now it is important to butt your watercolour card up to the corner, so that you can replace your stamped piece EXACTLY in the same position )
I used my Zig Clean Color pens to add colour to the clear stamp, purple (violet) on the flowers and Spring Green on the foliage, I then spritzed both the inked stamp and the watercolour card before closing the platform and pressing evenly all over. It is important to note that you are NOT seeking perfection here. You want the image to look like it has been loosely watercoloured. Now you can either dry your piece with heat tool or leave it to dry naturally.
Next step is to place the inked card back in the stamp tool in exactly the same position, as we are now going to ink the stamp with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and then add the detail back onto the 'watercoloured' background. This really brings the stamped image back to life, I added clear embossing powder to mine and heat set, this just made the black ink stand out more. The last touch was to go in with a brown pen and colour to the stem.
I mounted the card on to a purple card that echoed the colour of the flowers and then onto a card base.
Now I struggled a bit deciding whether I liked it or not as I prefer things that look almost perfect, thankfully I could appreciate it for what it is and what it's meant to be (this was my 3rd attempt). Pick a stamp and have a go, it is actually fun!

I hope that you all have a good day,
Love & hugs to all of you,
Sandra xxx
Hi everyone
ReplyDeleteLove your card today, and a great technique. I will be having a go at this one 😊
The weather is awful isn’t it 🙁 We had some thunder and lightning yesterday too, along with torrential downpours on and off all day! Think it’s meant to improve by the end of the week.
I had fun crafting yesterday, although it took me most of the day to make Marks card - in between phone calls and messages! I even sat down last night and made another one 😊
Hope you’re all keeping well. Have a good day.
Sending hugs to you all xx
I love it I will definitely have a go The weather has been awful and it scares me a little about what the future will hold due to global warming
ReplyDeleteI need to make a 1yr birthday card I don’t think this week’s challenge will fit it but I will try
Out dancing tonight
Take care everyone xx
Hi everyone
ReplyDeleteNice card and again in a colour that I love.
Another day of horrendous weather. It sounds like we got the hailstones this morning.
Have a good day everyone. Hugs to you all, Maria xx
Hello All, sorry not been posting for a couple days, not sure why, just forgot.
ReplyDeleteThe weather is horrendous, hail, thunder and lightning of which I am afraid.
The cards have all been lovely, and the journal page is great, gave me the impetus to dig my journal out and make more tags.
Just when I thought my medical appointments were done with for the time being , have to have another lot of blood tests. Still all a good thing they keep it checked.
Have a lovely day, keep safe in the wind if you go out. Lilian.
H Sandra and all looking in. A beautiful journal page yesterday. Crocus are another favourite of mine, and were my Grans too 🥰
ReplyDeleteNow I have to be honest and say that I do like today’s card. Like you I prefer all neat and tidy but the more I look at it the more I am enjoying the way the ink has made beautiful shapes in and around the flowers and leaves. Re stamping the outline again afterwards is such a great idea.
We had a few stressful days as RJ has a severe infection in and around his Gall bladder. He was given antibiotics on Friday, back to hospital at midday yesterday when they wanted to check him. He messaged Gemma about 12.15pm to say he was going to theatre at 1pm and he has to stay in until at least Friday because of the severity of the infection. Thumbs up to GW hospital for their prompt treatment.
Have a good night. Take care. Love Sue xx
Lovely card, the muted effect you have created is beautiful definitely an idea i will be trying to replicate, thank you for the inspiration. Hope you have had a good day.
ReplyDeleteTake care, sleep well love Brenda xxx
