A couple of Throwback Fun Fold Cards

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that you are all well, can you believe that we are almost at the end of another week, the first week of March, Marching our way into Spring, I just can't wait for those longer brighter days, it's so lovely to look out and see the garden starting to burst with colour, seeing those bright yellow daffodils swaying in the breeze can't fail to make you smile!

Well I managed to Perm Lucy's hair on Tueday evening, I won't lie it was a bit of a struggle for me as holding my arms up in front of me is very painful, mostly in my lower back, but I dosed up on pain meds and got Lucy to sit on different height chairs/stools for different sections of putting the perm rods in, but we did it, I was so nervous when it came to taking the rollers out to see if it had actually taken, I should have had more faith, she was delighted with the results and said that she loved it, I don't think I have ever been more relieved about anything, her smile was worth all of the pain.  It left me struggling a bit yesterday which is why I have included a couple of 'throwback' cards for today's blog post.  They work perfectly fot this weeks challenge so might inspire you a little too.

Z Fold Card

I received a box of card to try from a company called 'Paperbox' I used it to make this Z Fold Card, the colour I chose was 'Lavender Pearl Card' which I can honestly say cut and folded like a dream, there was no cracking or damage at all, which is so important when you are making Fancy Fold cards as all the folds and creases are on show, the delicate lavender colour worked really well with the Papermania Nature's Grace paper collection too, so that it what I used to embellish the card, I love all the greys, shades of lilac, purple and yellow. I used the more neutral rose patterned paper for the background, the lilac shade of some of the flowers worked perfectly with the card base.  I chose one of the bright, vibrant yellow papers for the bar across the card, it picks up the yellow in the background paper.
I picked a piece of the lilac paper from the Card collection to die cut a circle matt for my topper, I stamped a Stampin Up! sentiment onto lilac pearlescent card (same as base) I then added silver embossing powder and heat set, leaving a lovely silver sentiment.  I attached the Z fold bar over the card base added my central focal piece with sentiment and then added some paper flowers on either side sentiment and another in the top corner of the base card.

Pop Up Box:

I went for something a little different, I tried to make the Box look like a wooden planter and then went on to stamp and die cut and shape lots and lots and lots of flowers and foliage to fill the box.
It has the 3 'shelf' pieces going across like a normal pop up box, so that you can space the flowers out evenly.  I cut an old plastic die package into narrow strips and glued some of the flowers onto the strips so that I could get some height, the good thing is the packaging is see through so it doesn't really show up.
I was going for 'Autumnal' Colours with Copper accents.

I hope that these cards give you a little inspiration.

I am writing this blog as I am about to get ready to go for my Covid 19 Vaccination, I will let you know how it goes later.

I hope you all have as good a day as possible,

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra

  3. Hi everyone
Two beautiful cards today, lovely to see some throwbacks 😊
The way I’m going I may have to send an old card for this weeks challenge! My week off certainly hasn’t gone as planned, but it is nice being home and not having to set the alarm!
Pleased to hear that Lucy’s perm turned out well. Hope your arms are feeling a little less achy today, and you have no effects from the jab xx
Have a good day everyone. Sending hugs to you all xxx

Two lovely cards for inspiration today, both very pretty.

Sandra hope you will feel better soon, and the side effects don’t last too long.

  5. Hi Sandra and all
Two gorgeous card Sandra. Glad to hear the perm turned out nice but hope you aching less today.
Karen- we look like trolls here both of us so need a hair cut asap 😄
Lilian- take care doing the oven cleaning so you don't overdo it.
Brenda- what a mess, glad your grandson got the parcel tho in the end 👍
Weather here is also grey and wet but we managed to go for a walk and then I very quickly jumped in to Waitrose for some things we want for tomorrow.😷 I have played with some different folds, sadly like you say Sandra it is important to use the right card and I guess the thickness of the card for I have had a little bit of cracking on the folds I made for my cc's. What thickness do you ladies use ?
Have a good day everyone and many hugs are sent for you all. xx

  6. Hi Sandra & ladies
    Two lovely throwback cards today.
I’m glad the perm turned out ok.
Like Karen & Maria I just can’t wait to have my hair cut. It doesn’t look so bad but I don’t like my hair very long at all.
Very dull and very cold here today. I’ve been out for a shortish walk this morning. But don’t think I’ll go out again today. I’ve also bought card from paper box Sandra. Amy popped over from Carterton for a chat and brought Nala her dog, mind you it was bitterly cold to be standing on the doorstep having a Chat. Karen & Amber we’re walking up the road so we had a 4 way chat. Them on the drive and me in the porch.
Take care and stay safe everyone.

  7. Hello Sandra and ladies,

Two very inspiring cards. Even though they are throwbacks they are brilliant examples for this weeks challenge. Thank you.xxx

Spent the afternoon calling friends who I haven’t been able to meet up with since last spring, we have managed to keep in touch by phone but it’s not the same as a lovely chat over lunch ..... maybe one day we will be able to do it again. 🤞🙏

Hope you have had a good day, take care and stay safe. Love Brenda xxx
