Malva Snippet

Good Monday Morning Ladies,

I feel a little frustrated that I missed all of the gorgeous weather thos weekend,  unfortunately the cats didn't enjoy being kept upstairs the whole weekend, every time I tried to leave them to grab a drink or something to eat they'd attempt to escape or start scrapping,  Milo likes to be with Paul so didn't appreciate being kept apart from him.  Harley was well behaved, he thoroughly enjoyed being in the garden all day playing football,  he slept most of the evening,  he wasn't as settled in the night but we live in a much quieter place than Matt so I think that was unsettling, he also sleeps in their room so he was probably missing that too.  I feel like I haven't seen Paul all weekend 😕.

Today's Snippet I found a little bit frustrating,  a lot more time consuming than the others I've made.  The background was made by smooshing Hickory Smoke, Vintage Photo and a little Black Soot distress oxide inks.  I then stamped the jar using Hickory Smoke around the edges with a little black soot on the very edge of the jar,  I then stamped onto the background and took a wet brush with some watered down Hickory Smoke to blend out the ink. I took the Malva flower and stamped 3 and masked them off and the top of the jar and added some foliage stems to fill the jar and bouquet out.   The next step was to use white paint and paint in all of the malva flowers, allow them to dry and then use a HB pencil and a paper stump to blend out the grey, here is where I had a problem, my pencil just dug into the white paint no matter how gentle I was, it looked awful and it wouldn't blend, so I ended up stamping more onto white card, painting in a much thinner white paint layer and going in a lot gentler with the HB pencil and paper stump,  I then fussy cut them and stuck them over the stamped flowers, they are a long way from perfect, but they will do. I then stamped the pheasant and added shading and some extra details with my fine Posca white pen.  Its a different look, I quite like the overall effect of the darker colours.

I would say that I hope you enjoy the weather but its turning back much cooler this week, it was 18° here yesterday its forecast to be 7° tomorrow,  it's like a tease!

I hope you make the most of what ever the weather is,

Love and hugs to all,

Sandra xxx

  3. Hi everyone
I love your snippet. It sounds a bit tricky to do but I think you have done a great job.
Milo and Bella must have loved to have the house back after Harley's visit.
OH was going for some tests today and they were parked up at Asda's carpark so we did a shop while we were there. Sadly it's raining today and much cooler. Had a little play this afternoon but didn't get anywhere far.
Hoping that you had a good day. Hugs to you all, Maria xx
