My first Colour Cube Card

Good Morning Ladies,

We had a bit of a mean but beautiful visitor to our garden yesterday afternoon,  we were sat in the office and heard the usual garden birds getting frustrated, they sounded terrified so Paul went out to investigate,   at first all he saw was a dead pigeon,  he then went to the end of the decking and saw a Sparrowhawk sitting looking at him bold aa brass!  Paul thought it would fly off but I think it was more worried about protecting its dinner!

Paul came back in to tell me to get my camera and look out of the window,  Lucy was home and her camera is fantastic,  so she took these photos, he didn't waste any time getting back over to the poor pigeon that he had 'despatched',  he than sat for a good 15 minutes or more tearing the poor thing apart.  Now you'd think all the other birds would have kept quiet so that they didn't draw his attention,  but they were too busy shouting and hollaring at each other spreading the warnings out.  He is a bit of a meany but my goodness what a beauty!!  (Plus the pigeons do keep doing massive droppings on my decking) so 1 less is no loss!

I randomly picked one of my Colour Cube cards yesterday and decided to play with the Lisa Horton Tied Bouquet stencil that I've had for a year or so and not even opened!

I picked no 084,  the colours I picked to go with it were Twisted Citron for the greeny/yellow, Picked Raspberry for the bright pink,  Seedless Preserves for the darker pink/purple I then used Mowed Lawn and Rustic Wilderness for the green /darker green.  I found it easier to find these matches is Distress Oxide than Distress inks.  I also added the Twisted Citron to the background as it didn't show up in the bouquet.  I die cut the bouquet and then kind of messed up on the Embossing,  it was in place but moved before the second pass through the embossing folder.  (It was 6pm at this point and I wasn't starting again)!

Karen 'dared' me to do the same card but using a different Colour Card.   So watch this space ..

I hope you all have a great Tuesday,  we are having our hair coloured today !

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra xxx

  2. Hi everyone
Fabulous photos of the Sparrowhawk, poor pigeon tho.
    Beautiful card. Perfect colours together.
Karen, hope you had a good time at John Lewis.
I couldn't sleep last night so haven't been doing much today. Sat outside for a few hours in the sunshine before it went in behind some heavy grey sky but no rain yet.
Sending hugs to you all. xx

  3. Hi Sandra and all looking in. A lovely card, the colours are so bright and cheerful. Looking forward to see a different Colour Cube combo as well.
The Sparrowhawk is stunning isn’t it. The markings are amazing. How lucky you got to see it close up xx
I love watching the garden birds on our feeder and we have a large family of Buzzards that nest not far away from our house that I could watch all day, especially when they just play with each other.
I hope you all sleep well. Take care. Love Sue xx
