Mixed Up Saturday

Sue

Michele

Karen

Good Morning Ladies,

Well we were supposed to be visiting my Mum today but sadly the weather put pay to that, it's forecast rain all day so we wouldn't be able to sit outside. I know that Mum would say 'it's fine just come inside'' but it's just not worth the risk, she is extremely vulnerable having chronic COPD, so if she were to contract Covid 19 it's unlikely she would come out the other side.  She will tell you that she is fine however and has understandably found the isolation very hard, especially not being able to hear.  Frustratingly with Paul and the girls going out to work and mixing with other people which increases the risk I just want to take every precaution I can, so if the weather is not forecast to be fine Sunday that will be off too, if it was a case of just 'popping round' for a visit we could work around the weather but I am not risking driving 320 mile round trip for nothing.  Luckily I posted her birthday cards on Wednesday after seeing the weather could change.

I have added a couple more inspiration cards for you today, the cards all use different backgrounds, Sue has used embossing folders and pearls, Michele has used gilding flakes and die cuts and Karen has used pixie powders (i think) and a die cut.
I hope these lovely cards from past challenges help inspire some of you xxx

Michele's Magazine Review

Hi Sandra

Diecutting Essentials has a lovely free gift this month as shown below.

Here’s some ideas of what’s inside the magazine.

First feature using the free gift showing a variety of cards to make.

Second feature using the free gift-this time it’s bags + boxes etc.

Great article explaining how to do Diecutting “off the page”

Shaker cards with a difference-using Tulle instead of acetate.

Great article reminding us that we can use our Dies to create stamps-making a matching set and allowing you to get more use out of your Dies.

Perfect article for this weeks challenge!

Part two of the Geometric design article.

That’s all for this week so
Happy Crafting

Love Michele

Ooh Michele, I really love the free die and all of the inspiration projects in this months issue of Die-cutting Essentials.  There are some lovely features in this issue too, I love the idea of using Tulle to make shaker card, so feminine and would give a softer effect.
The off the edge die cutting is a cool idea too.
Might have to buy this one I think!
Thanks so much Michele for a fantastic review xxx

I hope that you all have a lovely weekend my lovelies,

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra

  1. Morning Everyone
I fully understand you not going to see Mum but it's better to be safe than sorry and I'm sure it won't be too long before you can see her properly. That is of course if people behave themselves. I really could not believe the pictures this week of all the 'idiots' on beaches etc and I'm asking myself why have we been housebound for the last umpteenth weeks.

MICHELE-thank you for your mag review. This week's mag free gift looks really good.

We're off again this morning to M&S foodhall =there and straight back home.I'm still a little jittery though.

The CAFE is OPEN tables and chairs outside if the weather stays fine.
We had the Mother of all hail storms teatime yesterday along with thunder. The hailstones were really hitting the windows so hard and quite large too. I wouldn't be surprised if some greenhouses aren't missing a few panes of glass this morning.

HUGS a plenty are on their way to you all.HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND; TAKE CARE AND STAY SAFExxxx

    1. Sounds like you had one hum dinger of a storm Janet. Bad news about the company who own amongst others the Trafford centre. Oh it’s just started raining here in West Oxfordshire.

  2. Morning Ladies

Sandra-I completely understand why you aren’t going to visit your Mum, far too risky. Fingers crossed for better weather tomorrow.
Mi had s lovely day yesterday-did the food shopping, slight rain. Put it all away & had s coffee. Set off into Southport-lots + lots of rain. At least it wasn’t cold! Sunshine after lunch so I sat out all afternoon and read. Managed to getn2 lots of washing dry too.

Was meant to be visiting a friend for coffee (outdoors) this morning but the forecast was for heavy rain so we cancelled. It’s dry but breezy but I’m not prepared to risk it as she has Leukaemia and I would hate to compromise her health.

Update on my Uncle-has ok, he’s insisting he didn’t have a heart attack and doesn’t know why he’s got to stay in hospital! The Cardiology staff have been in touch with the Professor that running the Clinical Trial he’s on for Amyloidosis so fingers crossed they’ll get some answers why he’s this poorly.

    1. Your uncle sounds like he’s getting better Michele. I’m going to look up what he has. I did that for Bryan’s disease but it’s depressing reading and it’s quite rare so people a lot of Drs, nurses have no knowledge of the disease. Gills Dr reckons she knows more about it than Drs do.

  3. Some lovely reminders and yes mine is using Pixie Powders
It is a shame you’re not able to visit your mum but it is better to be safe than sorry
I agree and think it’s disgusting behaviour seeing all of these people on beaches etc It’s this “it won’t happen to me” attitude and “if 1 metre is fine on 4th July why not today ...” I will stay in my little bubble thank you very much
I have a zoom meet up with some work colleagues later today and need to make a couple of cards Other than that I won’t be doing much
    Take care all xx

  4. Hi Sandra & ladies
Lovely cards today for inspiration. Plus magazine reviews from Michele. Hopefully more will go back into production soon. A lovely saying at the top Sandra and so apt as well. I hope they soon get to the bottom of what’s going on and I hope your AF soon calms down.
It’s a shame you can’t visit your Mum though Sandra. But better safe then sorry now not knowing what the weather is going to be like. Well we had no rain or thunderstorms yesterday. We did have some rain overnight though as the ground was a bit wet when I woke up.
How lovely that your grandsons came to see you Brenda. A lovely surprise when you were just expecting one.
Sophie has decided to take the job at the children’s home as she didn’t like the atmosphere at the home she had an interview at. Apparently Livvy will be going back to Blenheim Palace as well but has to go for some training before hand. I’m assuming that’s to find out how things will be working in the restaurant & kitchens.
Poor Bryan is fading fast and all his food will be puréed from now on as he can hardly swallow. Pete’s friend asked how both Bryan & Dave we’re getting on. Bryan I told him about but as I haven’t heard from Dave since Pete passed away I couldn’t say. To say he was horrified was an understatement. Not the Dave he knew he said. But it is what it is.
A bit dull and windy here today, still muggy though. I wonder if we’ll have rain today.
At least the beaches weren’t so packed yesterday. But any damage if any had already been done the day before.Take care & stay safe everyone today.

  5. Hi everyone
Lovely card samples for the challenge 😊
Another great magazine review Michele 😊
Sorry the weather has put paid to visiting your Mum, Sandra. Such a shame after all the lovely weather, but better to be safe than sorry.
Very windy here today, with rain showers. Never had any of the storms forecast yesterday but heavy rain through the night.
Hope you’re all having a good day. Hugs to all xxx

  6. Hello from a very windy and wet Cornwall, have just been out tying up my sweet peas, as were really getting battered, prefer the loose look, but they would have snapped off.

Great cards for inspiration, looking forward to doing my challenge card for next week, today’s took me most of the day.

Michele, great review again, looks very good, might have see if I can order this one.

Hope you all have a good weekend, looking forward to seeing everyone’s card tomorrow. Hugs to all Lilian

  7. Hi everyone.
I'm so sure I was in and looked in the cafe' this morning but must have forgotten to post anything so sorry ladies. Hoping you all have a good Saturday as possible for I had Friday until my OH told me, no it's Saturday so in a panic as usual I put something together for tomorrows post.
Thank you for the card inspirations for next weeks cc Sandra. Shame the weathers changed totally so you couldn't go and see you mum today and sorry to see some of you had the same problem. Spoke with SIL yesterday and she wanted us to come down to them but we said No, it not worse it. I believe a class of children have got the covid-19 here in MK this week and someone said the children wouldn't get it....
Great Magazine review Michele, this one will have to go on my wishlist too. I do love sunflowers and the Tulle shaker cards look nice.
Please take care if going out. Many hugs for you all and have a nice evening xxx

  9. Hi Sandra and all in the Cafe today. A proper “Doh” moment for me when I saw my card here! I couldn’t think why you had shown it for a moment Sandra. Talk about having only a few brain cells, I think I just get worse and worse!!! I love Michele and Karen’s beautiful backgrounds.
I’m sorry you couldn’t see your Mum but of course you can’t take the risk. Unlike all of the stupid people on the beach during the week! Such a shame that the weather had to change last night though. That’s s**ds law isn’t it! I hope you have a nice weekend crafting instead my lovely xx
Brenda, what a wonderful surprise to have not one but three grandsons 🥰 visit you yesterday x
Michele, love your card and thanks for the magazine review. There are some great articles especially like the idea of using tulle instead of acetate for some shaker cards. I just need to find where I have put mine!
Lynda, I’m sorry you are still in so much pain dear friend. You and and Terry are always in my thoughts xx
Today has vanished as I have only just woken up after having a quick nap which actually lasted for four hours!! None of us have slept well during the hot weather have we?
I hope you are all enjoying the cooler weather. It is bright but very windy here with frequent rain fall. It is still warm though. Sending love and hugs to you all with extras for Lynda, Mum and all in need. Take care xx

  10. Hello Sandra and ladies,
Lynda I am also having problems trying to post a comment, like you I think the gremlins are at work in my iPad. I have lost a couple of comments, then the web site would not load. I ended up turning off the iPad for a while and logged in again - fingers crossed!!
Sorry you had to cancel your visit to see your Mum today Sandra, but (in my opinion) think it was a wise decision, considering the way you have been feeling lately, that journey could have set you back even more.. You need to put yourself first. So when you are able to visit your Mum you will be in top form. In the meantime remind her you love her. xxx
Michele thank you for the magazine review, I received my copy this week and am still working my way through it.
Saying good night Ladies, sleep well, love Brenda xxx
